Funny Anti-Bates Protest at the Elland

Got to love that Leeds supporters still can summon up a sense of humor. This is a scene from the "shoes off, if you hate Ken Bates" chant in the recent friendly against Burnley.

Call that gallows humor. The Football League is meeting this week to see if they'll allow us to begin the season. If we get the "thumbs up," our reward will be an away fixture with Tranmere Rovers a week Saturday. (sigh)

In other Leeds-related news, I'm sad to report that Alan Smith has decided against a move back across the Pennines and is in talks with the Hammers. No doubt he'll contribute to the red-card quotient at Upton Park next season.

In today's Guardian, Leeds lost their appeal of the 15-point deduction, with all 71 Football League clubs weighing in against us. Sod the lot of them. In the inimitable words of Millwall F.C., "no one likes; we don't care!"
