Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Footie Trivia Question of the Week

Euro 2008 represents only the second time that dual hosts have been used in the competition, leading to a situation in which both Austria and Switzerland will be seeded, perhaps the weakest two nations to ever host the tournament.

"Only three hosts have ever won the European Championships. Name them and the years that they won as hosts."

Good luck, lads.

That's one, mate. Platini was top scorer in the tournament, if memory serves. That side might have also won the WC in '82 too. Great team!

Italy '68. That was Riva's tournament. With Mazzola and Faschetti also very important in the squad.

Spain in '60 or '64? I'm guessing because Real were in their prime in the 60's.

Yep, Italy in '68. They were great again but overmatched in the WC in 70.

Spain in '64 - a great year, btw. I can't honestly name you one Spanish player that was in that side. Was it a complete upset? Have no idea.

Should've been England in '96 - just a Gazza toe away from beating the Germans in the semis and we would've easily handled those Czechis in the final.
