Liverpool vs. Tottenham Live!

It's the game of the day, interpreted by many as a must win for both managers. Will it be curtains for Rafa or taxi for Jol? It could make for a cautious bore of a game, but I hope not. Join me to find out, eh?

Hi, I am here.

Already one game in the books. A great game from the Emirates.

The Arse take a two goal lead, Sunderland tie it up but RVP scores a late winner.

From 365: "Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez makes five changes but there is not even a place for Peter Crouch on the bench, his place as fourth-choice striker now clearly confirmed.

An ineffective display in midweek against Marseille in the Champions League would not have helped his cause. Benitez brings back John Arne Riise, Andriy Voronin, Jermaine Pennant, Alvaro Arbeloa and Javier Mascherano into his side.

Tottenham make just two changes from the side which drew 4-4 with Aston Villa last week. Jermaine Jenas - recovered from an abdominal strain - and Lee Young-Pyo replace Aaron Lennon and Tom Huddlestone.

All these Sunday games are terrible!!
I was listen to FiveLive yesterday and they were complaining.
The games at Blackburn, Bolton, Liverpool and Everton are all because of the UEFA Cup. The Man Citeh actually had to be played today. It is actually supposed to be at Boro. The corresponding game is at the end of the season and it was moved because the UEFA Cup Final is to be played at the Eastlands and they didn't want a game there just before it. They just switch venues and had to play on Sunday because United were at home yesterday.
The games at Arsenal, Reading and Fulham could have been played yesterday.

CITEH HAVE GONE ONE UP

10:10 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Citeh are one up against Boro, another great start for Sven's men.

10:11 AM

I agree with you.

For some reason, the noise from the Spurs fans is clear as a bell on the broadcast, so you may want to cover the kids' ears, Dave.

You could hear the "wanker" chants going up when the ref awarded the corner, even the commentator commented on it.

Now you can hear them taking the mick out of "You'll Never Walk" with "Sign on, sign on, with a pen in your hand, and you'll never get a job, you'll never get a job."

From the Beeb

Will he play for England?

Spurs look dangerous

10:43 AM

Another bloody announcement gets interrupted by the goal. Did you screen turn green as well?

Blogger gatorbob said...

Great finish from Keane, and it's no more than Spurs deserved. Half-time 1-1 and the best match FSC have had all season. Can't wait for the second half.

10:49 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, that was weird with the commentators obscured by the tannoy sound. My screen went wobbly but not green.

10:50 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

There was a bit of green in your wobbly screen!! Open your eyes.

SA have won 37-20

Here's the email that I sent FSC yesterday:

"Dear Sirs: Yesterday, you broadcast an hour of "Soccer Saturday" and it reminded me what I'd found on my occasional trips to the UK - it's the finest footie chat show available. If it's possible, I'd ask you to broadcast the hour lead up to the 10 a.m. EST kickoff with the live feed from the "Soccer Saturday" panel. I'm sure I'm not the only English footie fan that would be delighted by this additional to the channel.

Thanks for your consideration.

Why was Ronaldo so chuffed to score a header, with all that pointing at his noggin? Doesn't he score a lot with his head?

11:00 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Jesus, I was late getting back to the telly while doing some washing up and I've missed Spurs and Keane's second goal. It's a carbon copy of the first - long ball knocked on by Berba and tucked in neatly by Keane.

11:07 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Sami Hyppia really does look past his sell by date here. Berba's been making a monkey of him all day long - he's won every header.

Blogger gatorbob said...

Andy Johnson has replaced McFadden at half time for Everton.

11:10 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Sorry, I was getting a haircut from Kathy. Do you still get those!!!

Great goal again by Spurs.

As for Ronaldo, maybe it is because he just had stitches from last week.

11:12 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good quote from the Beeb

1609: "Has Jamie Carragher bought a ticket to watch Berbatov's flick-ons to Keane ? At fault for both the goals."

11:13 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Nice chant from the Spurs crowd:

"Anfield's an Highbury!"

A comment on its imminent demise?

11:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Blackburn have scored a second directly after Birmingham have a goal disallowed.

Newcastle have been pegged back by Everton. AJ with the goal

11:14 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Actually if you look again, Carra was marking Keane and Hyppia Berbatov. They've now switched and Jamie's won a few headers off Berba.

11:14 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Keep it going Spurs. They are dominating

As you were saying earlier, do they have microphones in the Spurs stand? Or are all the Pool fans silent?

11:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Citeh have scored number three

11:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

There is no way Spurs don't deserve the three points. I still don't think they will get all of them.

Stevie G. hasn't looked right for several weeks. He's clearly playing injured. I wouldn't play him against Estonia.

11:22 AM

Citeh's third was scored from a free kick by Elano again. Last week was a bullet. This weeks a curler.

That always gives me a sinking feeling. You always feel that he's gonna get crocked playing for Newcastle.

11:32 AM

From the Beeb

1632: "Sven was asked after the first three wins why he's good with clubs but couldn't do it for england. His reply: "England didn't have Elano". I'm starting to see what he meant!"

11:34 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

With Babbel and Kuyt coming on, does that mean that Crouchie is the fifth choice striker for Pool? Madness!

11:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Robbo spill again but cleared.
I can see Spurs start to get nervous and blow this. They deserve all the points.

11:35 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Owen is on

11:36 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

That's a glib response from Sven. In the end, he took England to three quarter finals. The question for England is how to get over that obstacle. Certainly two penalty losses makes you think that penalty shoot-outs might be something to take seriously?

11:36 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh dear, come on wee Mikey!

11:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good save from Robbo at the near post

11:37 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You can see that Robbo's back four have no confidence in him. He rarely comes to clear or catch a cross; Spurs defenders are left to clear away for corners. Not good.
