Happy 30th Anniversary, MTV!
MTV celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this week. I'm old enough to remember when they actually did play music on the channel. I thought that I'd post my favorite early MTV video and encourage all of you to do the same. Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" was an immediate favorite for me, combining some state of the music making with video technology. How about the rest of you? Post a link to your favorite MTV video in the comment box. Enjoy!

One of my faves. Great backing band. Dave Edmunds (also as chauffer) Billy Bremner and Terry Williams. Rockpile.
Carlene Carter as the bride. She looked good before the hard living.
Great shout there, Someone. One of my favorite power pop tunes and a classic MTV video - a bit of performance in an odd context, a flimsy story line, the band piercing the fourth wall to sing the chorus. All classic 80s video components. Luv it!
Don't know if any of you have seen this. It leaked over the weekend. This was the original concept for the video. Luckily he, or his management saw the footage and scrapped it.

The Robin Williams suspenders, the Travolta Staying Alive choreography, the headband that may have gone around Jennifer Beals' leg in Flashdance. This bordered on Billy Squire "Rock Me Tonight' territory. All kinds of wrong here.
But Clarence rocks the red suit.
The only upsides in this atrocity are The Big Man and that Courteney Cox never has a career.
