We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Valeranga's best known player must be Canadian keeper Lars Hirschfeld, who had that clanger against the U.S in the Gold Cup, and was a reserve keeper at Spurs for a short while.

The Scouse are predictably having a lion's share of the early possession and Glen Johnson wins an early corner from a great cross.
A great corner was completely missed by Andy Carroll. That should have been 1-0 Scouse.

Downing shot just wide, but the keeper had it covered.
Valeranga's manager formerly played with Wimbledon and Blackburn. He looks just like Hans Bakkhe.
WOW!! 1-0 VAleranga with virtually their first attack . They passed through the Scouse defense and Strand finished nicely in the corner.
To think Valeranga had been under the cosh for the entire match , then they virtually walk through unchallenged for that goal. Kenny does not look like a happy camper.
The Norwegian fans are in full voice as it was beginning to sound like the Highbury Library.
Valeranga have a penalty due to a clumsy challenge and a poor clearance by Glen Johnson. Casual defending.

The Scouse had two chances, most recently, A shot from Glen Johnson was cleared off the line form a corner.
The Scouse countered through Downing then a cross from Adam was cleared for a corner.
Bloody hell - the Scousesox are 2-0 down already? To this lot? Not a good day for Kenny and co. I don't really rate them for the upcoming season. Suarez is on fire but they've got several gaps in their side.

Hello BD. That is correct. The announcer thought the penalty was a joke, but I thought it was a great call.

That was disgraceful from Andy Carroll. He resorted to an obvious dive to try to win a penalty. Are the Scouse that desperate?

The volley from Henderson caused more trouble for the corner flag than the keeper. the fans loved it.
Martin Andersen , the former Blackburn and Wimbledon player should be pleased with his side's performance.
The keeper does well to hold a long range effort from Agger.

There were cheers as the announcer stated on the PA that Carroll scored. There are a fair number of Scouse fans at the match.

I'm glad to see Carroll scoring. I really like him and I hope he's one for the future for England.

Spearing was taken to school by Lee. I guess Lee wants to teach the Scouse youngsters a thing or two.

What a superb save by Hirschfeld from Aquillani as that was a long rage effort. The rebound was cleared out for a corner.

Another superb save as Hirschfeld tips over a long range rocket from Aquillani.
GOAL 3-2 SCOUSE AS AGGER SCORED OFF THE CORNER FROM AQUILLANI. KUYYT HEADED ACROSS THE FACE OF THE GOAL AND AGGER SHOT IN FROM CLOSE RANGE AT THE FAR POST.
The combination of Aquillani and Agger combine for two goals in five minutes and it appears that the Scouse will escape with what appeared an unlikely victory.

Cheers, MUR. Sorry I was too busy with meetings to join you today. Sounds like a corker but one that will give Kenny some more gray hairs. Definitely not the script that they would have written before hand.
