Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good afternoon, BD. Rumor has it that Leeds are "bobbing" for a victory. As is the nature of the Championship, Leeds is nine points below a playoff spot and seven points above the drop zone. A win vs Blackpool . Inces and all, moves them up to ninth and six points below a playoff spot.
Gala host Schalke in the other CL match as Drgoba could make his CL debut for the Turks and play alongside Wesley Schneijder. Jermaine Jones could be in action for Schalke. No Balo for Milan as he is cup tied.Bob will be delighted to hear that the second legs of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy semis are being played this evening too.Orient lead 0-1 at Southend and have tied it up on agg while Coventry attempt to make up a three goal deficit at Crewe.
I don't get it! There is a link for Southend vs Orient in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy , but not for Leeds vs Blackpool. Bob will not be pleased. Her's hoping that the Whites defeat the Tangerines in the Yogurt Derby.
Hiya, MUR - I'm back for the match now, having tried to see off all of my afternoon meetings early. Looking forward to a healthy Leeds home win. As you say, it's a weird season in the Championship with lots of sides in with a shot at both playoff spots and relegation spots.
COME ON YOU ROSSINERI!
Here's the team news for the big CL match today:
AC Milan: Abbiati, Abate, Mexes, Zapata, Constant, Ambrosini, Montolivo, Muntari, Boateng, Pazzini, El Shaarawy. Subs: Amelia, De Sciglio, Traore, Niang, Bojan, Cristante, Yepes.
Barcelona: Valdes, Dani Alves, Pique, Puyol, Jordi Alba, Xavi, Busquets, Fabregas, Pedro, Messi, Iniesta. Subs: Pinto, Sanchez, Thiago, Mascherano, Montoya, Song, Tello.
Great To be chatting with you this Wednesday afternoon. I am sure you will be "Bobbing" for a Leeds win
Barca get us going here in their weirdly tropical looking away kit. Jimmy Buffet would love them!
They're off from the San Siro.
He sure would .
Elizabeth h's family had a couch that color in the 70s!
I'm am bobbing away for a Leeds win today.
Here's the team news out of Elland Road:
Leeds: Kenny, Byram, Peltier, Lees, Warnock, Green, Tonge, Norris, Varney, Morison, McCormack. Subs: Ashdown, Pearce, White, Brown, Diouf, Habibou, Hall.
Blackpool: Gilks, Baptiste, Cathcart, Crainey, Broadfoot, Phillips, Osbourne, Ferguson, Sylvestre, Ince, Taylor-Fletcher Subs: Eardley, Basham, Halstead, Angel, Derbyshire, Wabara, Delfouneso.
Referee: C Boyeson
I think we all did! I had a bedroom that was painted day-glo orange.
Elizabeth says the Barca away kit looks like the old couch. She says it brings back memories.
In the other CL match today, Galatasaray led by CL winner Didier Drogba kick off at home against Schalke.
Our family missed out on the tropical fun
Wesley Schneijder will be playing too. Gala had a decent January transfer window.
Say hi to Elizabeth for me!
Craig Thompson, the Scottish ref, and veteran of many Old Firm fixtures is in charge at the San Siro.
I sure did. She says hi too.
Suleyman Muntari tries a pop from distance. Not a bad effort, but always over the bar.
Luke Varney has a shot from distance that is blocked out for an early corner taken by Ross. Cleared out.
Volleyed just over by Sully Muntari. He and Kevin Price Boateng are two ex Pompey players in the Milan side.
House update - I've put a bid in today for the house that I looked at on Monday. Everything's going to plan!
I couldn't find a link for the match at ER, but somehow there is one for a Johnstone's Paint Trophy match. I don't get it.
Unusually scrappy opening to this match.
LOVELY JUBBLY! I sure hope to come up and see it.
Well - in fairness it is the regional finals today in the JPT.
Still early doors at the San Siro, but both teams have a lot at stake.
Cheers, mate - I hope you'll come up and visit some time.
Varney seems to be the danger man early doors. Another left-footed shot from distance. Just past the upright. Come on, you Whites!
I thought you had disdain for the JPT. That is true as the winner of each match will be in a wembley final
Two consecutive corners for Jimmy Buffet's team as Milan struggle to clear. Now Milan counter. Al Shawarry, the Egyptian-Italian, is flagged offside.
Mexes heads out a cross for a corner . Nearly an OG by Milan's weak link, but fortunately offside was called.
Biscuits with a nasty foul on Montolivo in midfield.
Are you following text updates from ER?
And now Varney is caught offside.
Oh - Al-Shawarey might have done better there when he was set free. Too heavy a touch in the area.
Gala take the lead vs Schale and OH! Al Shawarry was through, but overran it and Puyol tackled for a Milan corner.A short corner made it to the box and Kevin Prince Boateng hooked it just wide.
Oh - Boateng's effort from the corner nearly went in at the far corner. Decent start from Milan.
Yilmaz with that opener for Gala.
Burak Yilmaz with the goal for Gala vs Schalke.
And just in case you're curious, Batt has opened the scoring for Leyton Orient in the JPT Southern Final.
Oh - Varney has a shot point blank saved by Gilks.
Halftime in the JPT and Southend lead 0-1 at Orient . It is 1-1 on agg.
I am following text updates through the LUFC site.
COME ON YOU WHITES! DEFEAT THE TANGERINES IN THE YOGURT DERBY!
I think it's Orient 0-1 up at Southend. But you're right - it's 1-1 on aggregate.
Well done bob and thanks for the JPT update. I heard millions are watching worldwide!
You are correct Bob. Thank you.
Al Shwarry offside from a nice long ball from Zapata.
David Norris has a shot blocked off the line!
Absolutely - the JPT is truly a marquee event worldwide.
Some of these players faced each other in the Euro 2012 final
Varney has another shot at goal. Comfortably saved by Gilks.
Naughty by Fab on Kevin Prince Boateng. it must have been something that happened when the Gunners played Pompey
Sounds like the Whites are dominating the Inces.
Mexes booked for a foul from behind on Messi on the break.
First yellow card of the match to Mexes for a chop on Messi. A bit harsh.
Warnock clears out a free kick by Baptiste. Stephen Warnock that is.
John Stone's greatest creation!
Paul Ince ioaching his son, but Neil Warnock NOT related to Stepehen.
As it stands we're 13th in the table on 43 points with -7 GD, 8 points off the playoffs and 8 points off the dropzone.
Stephen would not want to claim any relation to Evil Neil.
I don't blame him.I think 52 points may be needed for survival in the Chaampionship this year
Yeah - that sounds about right. We should be about safe in about a month or so, given our recent form.
BORING BORING BARCA!
Ross tries a shot from just outside the box - well left of the target.
Sounds about right, BD. I hope your Whites can make a push for a playoff spot.
Not sure why the commentator is pronouncing Boateng's name "Bwah-teng."
Danny Alves flagged offside in the box after stringing together about fifty short passes.
Not sure. They should know how to prononce the names.
Gilks saves again from Ross. Come on!
The second half is underway from Southend.
Daniel Harris on the Guardian blog says: "It's in games like this that compromising Iniesta for the sake of Fabregas seems significant folly. With space restricted, the ability to eliminate defenders by running past them is more important than an eye for the killer pass."
El Shawary on a break for Milan after another Barca fifty pass possession and Sully Muntari wins a free kick.
I have been unimpressed by Barca so far.
Phew - Tom Ince misses with a right-footed shot. And then Paddy Kenny saves well from Sylvestre.
The free kicim is headed out, KP Boateng has a shot blocked then Barca win possession., then Milan win it and a pass intended for El Shawarry is jut too long and gathered by Victor Valdes.
I agree with Danile Harris. I wish more compromises would be made for the sake of entertainment . Glad to see Paddy Kenny kept Leeds clean sheet in tact.
So far, so good - but I'd like a goal soon. For us, that is.
Halftime in the other JPT semi and it is Crewe 0 Coventry 0, but Crewe lead 3-0 on agg and appear to be 45 minutes plus stoppage time away from Webuhlay!
Oh - Paul Green misses from close range after a scrambled corner.
Me too, BD.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
Crewe v. Southend/Orient - there's a marquee match-up. The broadcasters will be drooling.
Danny ALves gifted possession to El Shawarry, but he was outnumbered about seven to one on that break
That might get more viewers than the League Cup Final
I reckon that Milan must be starting to fancy this one.
Hard to say. It's over two legs with the return in the Nou Camp when I am on Spring Break.
Now Varney heads one over the bar from inside the area - how many chances do we need?!
Good point. I hope Leeds put away one soon.I would rather say good three points.
No stoppage time and there's the half-time whistle. No goals and precious few chances. I'm a bit goal starved.
Halftime and 0-0 from the San Siro as only twenty four seconds of stoppage time were added.
Jermaine Jones has tied it up for Schalke at Gala in first half stoppage time.
Jeff Stelling says that the Barca players look a bit puzzled that they haven't scored yet. Yeah - they're not playing the likes of Getafe today, are they?
Well in, JJ!
I wonder if that helps with your hunger pains or was that just a light snack?
Jeff was correct. Quite a bit of stoppage time at ER. Now it is halftime and 0-0 from ER.
Halftime and it is Gala 1 Schalke 1
Goal starved at half time, for sure.
Barry Corr has tied it up for Southend vs Orient in the JPT as the Shrimpers are about a half hour away from an all League Two Wembley final.
We could have three League Two sides in a Wembley final:
Bradford City, Crewe, and Southend. Crewe eliminated Bradoford City from the JPT while Southend went out to Brentford in the FA Cup after the Bees elimianted Bradford City. All roads to Wembley go through Bradford?
Well done, the Shrimpers!
We have to 1-1 and three 0-0 matches after the goal fest yesterday
The second half is underway from the San Siro.
Milan get us started in the second half and almost immediately lose possession.
David Mooney was right on the money as he put Orient 1-2 up at Southend and ahead on the away goals rule. I am not sure if that would go to extra time. Not sure about the JPT rules and regulations.
Boateng's name reminds me of another famous KPB - Kevin Phillips Bong of the Slightly Silly Party.
The vile Nigel De Jong is out injured for AC Milan . What goes around comes around!
KP Bong definitely more of a character.
Who's this Messi bloke, then? Looks fairly ordinary to me.
I agree with Alan Parry. A 0-0 draw makes Barca certain favorites to advance to the quarters
He's been fairly quiet.
what happened to UWS? He said he wouldn't be around today.
You won at twenty one?
Pazzini down as Biscuits is booked for a nasty foul.
Abate with a long throw as Pazzini is called for using his arms on Puyol, who goes down theatrically. Now Alves fouls El Sawarry just outside the box.
Dunno about UWS today - he might be teaching his college class.
GOAL! Bwah-teng!
GOAL !!! KEVIN PRINCE BOATENG SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH AFTER A BLOCKED SHOT OFF THE FREE KICK
A bit jammy but the Rossoneri won't mind. It's a crucial goal.
1-0!
Barca furious as the replay showed that Zapata of AC Milan blocked that shot with his hands before that Boateng finish.Zapata may have been offside too.
It may have come off the Barca player on to Zapata's hand , but either way Craig Thompson says GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAL!
Carlos Puyol fortunate not to be booked for a foul on Pazzini.
Could be . I am sure UWs will be pleased that his Ex Pompey Boy has scored vs Barca.
Fab wins a free kick in a promising position and he is now replaced by Alexis Sanchez.
Off to set up my class - I'm hoping for a Leeds goal by the time I get back.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
1-0 LEEDS!
Enjoy your class as Leeds take the lead.David Norris with the goal as yet another ex Pompey player scores.
It's Desmond in stoppage time at Southend as the Shrimpers appear to have booked a place in the JPT Final
Ben Reeves with that crucial goal for the Shrimpers
Play has stopped at the San Siro as there has been a clash of heads between Puyol and Pazzini.
OUCH! A lump on Pazzini's forehead, but he returns on as Barca refuse to return possession when they should have . Jeers from the San Siro. Muntari wins it and the jeers end.
WAY HAY! 2-0 LEEDS AS STEVE MORISON SCORES HIS FIRST GOAL FOR THE WHITES.
pAZZINI SHOOTS STRAIGHT AT vOCTOR vALDES.
Now Abate is down holding his head as he clashed heads with Pique. Puyol is back on after changing shirts and looking slightly concussed.
It has finished Desmond at Southend and the Shrimpers are in the JPT Final as they defeat Orient 3-2 on agg while it is 0-0 in the other semi with about fifteen minutes remaining as Crewe lead 3-0 on agg.
Wahay indeed! I'm back and I got two goals for the price of one while I was being professionally diligent. Brill!
It's David Norris's 4th goal of the season but more importantly a debut Elland Road goal in front of the Kop end for the guy who I'm hoping will be a new fan favorite Steve Morison!
Naughty by Jordi Alba on Boateng. M'Baye Niang, the eighteen year old, is on for Pazzini. The youngster is instantly involved as he goes down the right and his cross is cut otu
What a difference a couple of goals in a couple minutes make! We're up to 9th on 45 points and -5GD, only six out of the playoffs now.
Welcome back, BOB. The first goal was scored seconds after you left for class.
The closest Barca have come to scoring as Iniesta shot just wide from long range.
El Sharaawy wins a corner off of Pique.A poor corner is easily cleared then offside is called.
Blackpool make a couple of substitutions. Hang in there, you Whites!
Alexis Sanchez is fouled by Abate just outside the box.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
OH! Just over by Xavi off the free kick
Free kick chance now for Barca. Messi and Xavi over it....
Xavi takes it and it's well over.
Cheers, mate!
And now Matt Derbyshire has joined the fray - whatever happened to his career?
GOAL! Muntari has added a second. Barca are rocking!
GOAL !!! 2-0 MILAN AN ANOTHER EX POMPEY PLAYER SCORES AS MUNTARI SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH.N'YANG WAS PUT DOWN THE RIGHT, SLIPPED EASILY PAST PUYOL, PASSED TO EL SHAWAARRY AND PUT IN A NICE PASS FOR MUNTARI TO VOLLEY HOME
Front page headlines:
BARCA UNDONE BY EX POMPEY LADS!
cOVENTRY TAKE THE LEAD AT cREWE IN STOPPAGE TIME , BUT it;s merely a consolation goal as they still trail 1-3 on agg
That is ironic, eh? Well trained at Fratton Park.
Just over ten minutes left at Elland Road and I'll have to go off to teach with the hope that we can hang on to this two-goal lead in the last ten minutes or so.
Cheerio, mate!
A second stoppage tinme goal for Coventry as they trail 2-3 on agg.In the sixth minute of stoppage time at Crewe.
Cheers, BD. I would love to see Leeds hang on.
Bakaye Traore is on for a CL debut as he is on for the excellent El Shawarry
Masch, the ex Liverpool hacker, is on for the aged Carlos Puyol.
Coventry made it interesting with those two stoppage time goals as they won 0-2 at Crewe, but it's Alex in the final as they hang on to win 3-2 on agg and face Southend in the JPT Final at Wemberley
Five minutes of stoppage time at the San Siro.
mASCH DOWN AFTER A BARGE BY THE YOUNG tRAORE.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT FOUL!
Milan fans celebrating as a Beyoncee look alike is part of that celebration.
Iniesta wins a free kick . That seemed rather soft.
Messi gifted possession to Milan who countered through Traore, but his shot was blocked.
Nyiang trying to be fancy near the corner flag when he should have run time off the clock. Barca were having none of it. Abiatti gathers a cross from Danny Alves.
That's it and Milan defeat Barca 2-0 thanks to goals from two ex Pompey players
Stoppage time at ER and Leeds still lead 2-0.
It has finished Gala 1 Schalke 1
and YESSSSSSSSS!!!!
LEEDS 2 Blackpool 0 a Final.
Bob will be delighted to hear that.
That's it for me. I look forward to chatting this weekend. CHEERS!
Absolutely delighted with that. It leaves us six points out, in 9th, and most importantly now just 5-7 points from Championship safety this season. Good win today, boys!
Congrats Bob!!
Up to 9th!!
Great result in the CL as well... it will be tough for Barca.. must win by three!
I'm truly enjoying the design and layout of your site. It's a very
easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often.
Did you hire out a designer to create your theme?
