If It's Tuesday...
...it must be another big, big match in the Champions League knock-out stages. Today it's Arsenal, fresh off a disappointing Cup exit to Blackburn at the weekend and an explosive Wenger press conference yesterday against Teutonic titans Bayern. I'm going to try to race home from work in time for kick-off. Hope to see you then!

Good afternoon fellas,
I am ready for the latest round of Champions League... enjoying my week off!
I do, sadly, still have to teach at the college tonight and Thursday
BREAKING ARSENAL TEAM NEWS - Arsenal v Bayern Munich (1945 GMT)
Thomas Vermaelen appears to be starting at left-back for Arsenal, and there are starts for Aaron Ramsey, Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott. There's no Olivier Giroud.
BREAKING BAYERN TEAM NEWS - Arsenal v Bayern Munich (1945 GMT)
Mario Mandzukic gets the nod to start up front for Bayern Munich, leaving Mario Gomez to warm the bench alongside Arjen Robben.
Javi Martinez, Franck Ribery, Thomas Mueller and Toni Kroos do all start.
Is Bayern looking past the Arse?
Remember, Arsenal beat Milan at home last season and Barca the year before that
I think Arsenal have a really good chance in this one. Everyone seems to think it is a Bayern banker!
LINE-UPS - Arsenal v Bayern Munich (1945 GMT)
Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla, Podolski, Walcott. Subs: Mannone, Diaby, Rosicky, Giroud, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Coquelin, Jenkinson.
Bayern Munich: Neuer, Lahm, Van Buyten, Dante, Alaba, Javi Martinez, Schweinsteiger, Muller, Kroos, Ribery, Mandzukic. Subs: Starke, Robben, Shaqiri, Rafinha, Gustavo, Gomez, Tymoschuk.
Referee: Svein Oddvar Moen (Norway)
Remember last season, Chelsea seemed to be doomed at this stage... they won the bloody thing
Bayern have only conceded 7 league goals all season!
Bob Wilson sounds testy on Five Live
Afternoon, UWS. I'm back in Blue Devil HQ after my morning class. Really looking forward to this one. I agree with you - Arsenal have a chance - go on, you Gunners!
Afternoon Bob
Bayern have only conceded ONE goal away from home!!
Still think Arsenal will do well
I want the commentator to say
Bit the hand that used to feed him!!
Podolski to score
I'm having a brilliant day - just put down a bid on the house that I've been looking at.
I'd like to see that - maybe one of his trademark left-footed volleys.
We have that US commentator Gus Johnson again
Ray Clenence is the color man
Wow...just read you house comment
Let me know how it works out.. fingers crossed
Almost a full slate of Championship matches bar Leeds and another club
Barnsley v Wolves
Brum v Wednesday
Burnley v Boro
Cardiff v Brighton
Derby v Bolton
Hull v Bburn
Ipswich v Watford
Leicester v Charlton
Millwall Peterboro
Forest v Huddersfield
Palace v Bristol City
seems unfair Huddersfield have to play today after playing Sunday
Who do Leeds play? Tomorrow?
Leeds and Blackpool aren't playing
Apparently, Bayern are odds-on to win this match
Yeah - we play Blackpool tomorrow for some reason. Maybe because we played Sunday morning?
The Champions League Anthem played loud and now the handshakes
Come on Arsenal
I still have Five Live on like last night. It stayed on for the United match. It was over 6 second ahead of FSC. Wonder if Flve Live will cut off?
I figured that's why but again Huddersfield did too
Five Live just cut off as we get going
Away we go, with smoke bombs going off in the stands. Classic atmosphere!
First real break for the Arse through Cazorla. Couldn't pick out Theo at the near post. Shame.
The 5 Live commentator wondered how fans get flares in the stadium
arteta should have found someone there
Bayern get the game's first corner
Arsenal playing well! Theo earns the first corner.
Gus Johnson's second footer match.. he is known for going crazy
Arsenal's first corner.. fouled called on Neur... play acting there
Neither team is sitting back here..
GOAL... Bayern with a rifle... ouch
Where was the marking
Nice finish by Cruz
Bugger! Kroos has scored early with Bayern's first real chance. A real blow to Arsenal.
0-1!
Kroos that is
Mertesacker looked poor on that, as the commentators said, turned his back on the shot.
Free kick chacnce for Bayern
Into the wall... doing a short one there allowed the players to attack the ball
Walcott 'still handling'... that would be illegal Gus!
Looks like Bayern will be in Kroos control!
Boom boom, mate!
Wenger looking like grim death on the bench now. Did you hear his press conference yesterday on the Monday Night Club? So testy!
The two FA Cup teams in the Quarters, Barnsley and Millwall, are both behind at home to Wolves and Posh respectively
The beaten Cup team Huddersfield take the lead at Forest too
I stole it from the Beeb
Another free kick chance for Bayern.. slightly more dangerous. Off the wall, no a goal kick
Yes, I heard his News Conf. He at one point said it is a nc on the Cl not the Fa Cup. That nc was after the match
Then a reporter then asked about Bayern and he said we're not hear to talk about Bayern!
If Bayern do go thru, I want them to draw Barca in the next round
This one isn't over though
The ref and the fifth official giving each other hugs
Terrrible defending by Arsenal... who was following that overlapping run!!!
Does Mertesacker think he's playing for Bayern today? Honestly!
Oh dear - Muller with #2 - this is desperate stuff from the Arsenal.
Bugger... it is two nil!
Meuler with a tap in after a header saved... where was the rest of the defenders!
Free header for the German at the near post and Muller just had to stab home.
This tie is over - as you mentioned earlier, Bayern don't concede a lot of goals.
And now it's a yellow card for Sagna - frustration there.
This could now be over!
Very surprising in my book
How did Bayern get so good?
It looks like they could score every time they go forward
Forest and Millwall both tie it up
Arteta in the book
Well - they've been building over the years - they did make the final last season. They completely dominate the Bundesliga at this point.
If Arsenal were to be completely mullered here today - say, 3 or 4-0, would that finally be curtains for Wenger?
Charlton take the lead at Leicester
Should he be canned?
Who else?
They are still competing
Mancini to get the axe for not winning the league for one year
Ancelotti gets fired a year after the double
RDM gets the axe after winning the CL!!
Why is Ray Clemence pronouncing Bayern in some snobby way!
I know that they are 15 points clear. B. Dortmund have won back to back titles though
Forest now take the lead against Hfield
Watford take the lead at Portman Road
very weak pass by Carzola
Bayern fans are loving this now - it's party time in London.
Gooner is now finally in favor of outright sacking Wenger. He fancies Jurgen Klopp, who's the manager at Dortmund.
I don't know why Ray is doing that either. I have to say that I don't really like Gus but I can tolerate him as I did with JP Della Camera all those years when he was doing the CL. He irritates me but I won't harp on it.
someone comments
Anyone still surprised Pep chose Bayern??
Arsenal have a chance to swing a free kick in to the big men now.
"Someone Said" said that? Where?
Agreed
No... some bloke said it on twitter to the Beeb
Thomas Muller picks up a yellow for that rash tackle.
Oldham have fallen behind at Stevenage
Young Fergie's lads have retaken the lead at the Den
Walcott took too long to get a shot off
Leeds are down to 14th
GET INVOLVED
Luke Jones: "Out the FA and League Cups, out the title race and now, after just 20 minutes out of 180 out of Europe. Wenger may be out soon."
Timo Burbidge: "I'm not sad or upset because we are losing 2-0. I'm sad and upset because this is our last Champions League home game for a long time."
David Morris: "This is an Arsenal side, with the exception of Wilshere, devoid of all leadership. Nobody is talking or rallying the players."
Porto and Malaga not very exciting apparently still 0-0
Stupid challenge by Sagna
We are down to 14th but somehow the other results are favoring us. We're 9 points out of the sixth play-off spot. But we have two matches in hand, including the one tomorrow. If we were to get two wins from those make-up matches, we're back to three points out of the play-offs. Maybe, maybe, maybe?
Schweinsteiger gets the yellow and will be out of the second leg
I guess it won't really matter. That would be like a meaningless group game to get the card wiped out
No one wants to attack the ball in the box for Arsenal... Walcott doens't belong in the middle.. he's not big enough or good enough
Im in your corner
Cheers, mate. I'd love to see us make the play-offs but then lose. That might indicate to the new owners that we have the potential to get promotion if they were to invest in a few players for next season.
THe ref doesn't seem to like to give Arsenal free kicks
Crikey - that was nearly 0-3 through Mandzukic!
Struth.. I thought that was number 3!
Mert didn't even make a challenge.. he is hopeless
Forest now 4-1 up over Huddersfield.
I really do think Mert is a double agent today.
Walcott isn't the type of player to play with his back to the goal... he is not a center forward
I have 3 for Forest not 4..you're ahead
I agree - he may want to play down the middle but he's better out wide.
It just popped up
Half time...not good!
I feel for Steve
Half-time - well, that made for some extremely discomfiting viewing for any Arsenal fans. They were clearly second best. I can't see any way back.
Pretty funny VW commercial there.
We're back on at the Emirates. Where do Arsenal go from here - I really don't know?
I was going to shave for my evening class during half time but I got a call from the varsity coach... he was disgusted with the Arsenal marking
Second half underway... I am going to go and shave... i'll be back
BTW, more goals in the Championship
Palace lead against Bristol C
Bolton lead at Pride Park
Brighton lead at the Champions(?)
Go on and shave then, hairy boy!
Still 0-0 at Turf Moor - would love to see a Burnley win in that one.
Great stuff from Lahm there romping up the pitch before threading a lovely ball through to Kroos.
GOAL! Podolski comes good!
A complete balls-up in the Bayern defense for the first time. Neuer started to come but then stopped for some reason. Poldi capitalized.
1-2!
Now it's Bayern under the cosh - Muller gets a yellow.
This time Neuer punches away effectively. Come on, you Gunners!
I am back clean shaven and dressed for success... I called it about Podolski's goal...now get another
Forest are 5-1 up... not bad after being one down
Barnsley have tied it up with Wolves
Porto take the lead at home against Malaga
Robben on
Leeds now 13th
I agree with this bloke
Owen on text: "Seeing so many messages about this Arsenal team lacking leadership except for Wilshere. He isn't playing any better or showing any more leadership than the others, take off the tinted specs!"
Knock knock
Who's there?
Desmond.... please let him in!
Hull lead at home to Blackburn
A couple of goals by Leicester would put Leeds up to 12th
Another nine by Bolton against Derby would put them up to 11th
England 0-3 Germany among the scorers
Wilshire can't keep his feet.. don't applaud him.. that was a big chance!
The Posh are 4=1 up at Millwall
20 minutes to make the scoreline even better Gunners... come on
I don't understand the Championship at all - we've been pants. How could we still have a chance at promotion?
Rosicky on for Ramsey
Podolski off for Giroud... I would have left Lucas on
Oh - that was a huge chance for Giroud. Point blank, but he hit it straight at Neuer!
SAVED off of Giroud!!!
THAT WAS POINT BLANK
How was that a great strike, Ray - it was right at the keeper!
Kroos is cruising off as well
I guess he hit it firmly... unlike RVP last week at the Berny
Yeah - but RVP scores in those situations most of the time.
Swindon are leading at Tranmere. They will be top above Bournemouth
I guesss they don't miss Paulo!
There is news he may come back!
Not recently he doesn't
He is in a rut right now... I want his normal self back soon
Bit of an elbow thrown by Mandzukic there. Wenger is livid. Ref did not see the incident.
GOAL.. how did that go in!
Bayern are now 3-1 up... bugger
GOAL! Bloody hell - Bayern have scored again! Curtains?
Great stuff from Robben to Lahm, textbook overlap. Good ball over and Mandzukic did well to handle the ball that was behind him.
Not a superb goal Ray
Hull two up against Blackburn
Blimey - we're 12th now - top half again.
Not yet.. you need a Leicester goal against Charlton to move up
Watford double their lead at Portman Road
Didn't notice.. what a Mary!!
Tom, Worcester on text: "Is that Robben or Robin that has just come on? Tights! Really?"
Gomes could have or should have scored number 4
Hello UWS and BD.It's been a busy day, so I haver not been around. I am only working half a day tomorrow, so I will be around if you are blogging Milan vs Barca.
Hey MUR
I've done nothng all day!!!
Theo can't bother to look if he his offside
That will be me in three weeks!I am happy for you.
Crappy pass by Wilshire
I may be wrong but I really don't see the greatness of Wilshire. I think it is mostly hype. I hope i'm wrong.
Of course, I still have to teach tomorrow and Thursday. In three weeks, I will regular school but not the college
I meant teach tonight
That will be Spring Break me. I guess the college is also Spring Break.
not good for Leeds, Charlton retake the lead at Leicester
Palace double their lead at home to Bristol C
All the matche have around the same time left as this one except for Palace, Kick off was 15min later
I am a fan of Young Jack, but feel he has been hampered by injuries. He's still not the finished article.
Hiya, MUR - glad to hear that you're enjoying your break.
Alan Green, BBC Radio 5 live at the Emirates
Arsenal 1-3 Bayern Munich
"I don't see any weak link in this Bayern Munich team."
The skipper Lahm picks up a yellow card now for a trip on the Verminator.
Arsenal need to score here to give them even a sniff
Weak cross by Sanit and than naff shot by Sagna
3 added minutes
Score... win 2-0 in Bavaria.... simple
I don't see much urgency by Arsenal!!
Derby and Bolton are knotted at one
I agree - they need a goal or two to have any chance.
I think that third goal knocked the stuffing out of them.
Do you think Wilshire has been 'phenomenal' tonight?
Blokes tweeting in do
Game over.. not a good night
The Bayern manger didn't seem too happy with Arsene's handshake
Boos ring out round the Emirates at the end of a massively disappointing match for the Arsenal. They were well and truly stitched up a treat by the Germans.
Hello BD.I had a three day weekend and was off yesterday, but went back to work today. My Spring Break is in three weeks.
I thought Wilshere was Arsenal's best player but they still were comprehensively beaten so he wasn't that good.
Forest are 6-1 up now! I need a goal for Burnley at Turf Moor.
Porto beat Malaga 1-0..evenly balanced
Will anyone be blogging tomorrow? I am working half a day tomorrow.
I probably won't be around... come on MILAN!!!
How about Bob?
Barnsley take a late lead against struggling Wolves
Posh 5-1 at Millwall
Brighton are now two up against Cardiff
Bob should be around tomorrow as Leeds host Blackpool and the Inces.
Finals
Brum 0 Wed 0
Burn 0 Boro 0
Hull 2 Bburn 0
Ipswich 0 Watford 2
Cardiff 0 Brighton 2
I'll be at work tomorrow during the Milan v. Barca and Leeds v. Blackpool fest. Should be able to catch some of it.
Leicester 1 Charlton 2
Millwall 1 Peterboro 5
THat's it from me
Off to give a test in my class
TTFN
