The First Silverware of the Year
Today the first trophy is up for grabs. I am sure many people had this final chosen before the tourney began. Will Swansea win it for the Premier League? Will Bradford add another Premier League Scalp to Wigan, Arsenal and Villa? Sadly, only MUR will be able to watch it on the TV. The rest of us have to find a link.
By the way, there's another match on today. A small Premier League match pitting second v third. Will either of them challenge United? Newcastle and Sotton round out today's matches

Morning, UWS - I noticed that too. and I LIKE IT!
The FA is finally acknowledging that a Cup final is an important match. So the Premiership matches are a warm-up for the big one today. As it should be.
What's the best result for United today - a Chelski win? A draw?
Morning BD
I would say those two results would be the best... in that order
Good morning BD and UWS. I reckon a Chelsea win would be best . That puts us fifteen points clear of Citeh and sixteen clear of Chelsea
Teams in the tunnel now. Frankie Lampard leading out Chelski.
Morning, MUR - that's what I was assuming as well, despite a big result perhaps giving Chelski some momentum.
Uh oh - it's "Gus Johnson" doing the commentary.
Citeh get us underway at the City of Manchester Stadium. Lee Dixon partnering the Yank today.
They're off from the Etihad. They kicked off at SJP thirty seconds earlier. Cech saved easily from Yaya
Yaya with the first shot of the day
I don't think he has done that bad with his commentating. I don't want him to be asking Dixon lots of questions!
A goal at SJP... to Southampton!!!
Goal !!! 0-1 SOTTON AS A CROSS FROM JACK CORK WAS HEADED DOWN AND MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN SCORED WITH A GREAT FINISH
The Saints take an early away lead at St. James' through Schneiderlin.
I was going to get a link for that match but there was one for Soccer Special. I went to it and it is Sky Sports News... I am going to keep it on for updates and build up for the cup final
NO... Chicharito didn't score Gus
Rickie Lambert headed down the cross as it is French day at SJP but Sotton's Frenchman scored.
A loss for Newcastle today would put the Magpies only three points off the drop (four points if you consider their superior GD). Scary times at St. James'.
I am watching Newcastle vs Sotton on a link. They have ten foe that match!
I think my main issue with Gus is that he speaks in American idioms when describing the action.
Whoever loses at SJP is only three points clear. A definite relegation six pointer at SJP
Rubbish corner from Mata hits the first man. Club fine!
Never appropriate for Association Football.
I agree
This is what I hope NBC don't do!
I don't want Bob Bloody Costas trying to commentate and keep mentioning baseball
LUFC Academy crosses straight to Cech. Is that what he learned at ER?
Zabaleta's cross is easily handled by Cech. Aguero complaining about rough treatment.
Bradford City's bus is leaving their hotel... 45 min trip
Wonder if they're watching this match
Aguero's down like a sack of spuds again - nothing from the ref.
That London traffic!
Fans not happy with the ref at the Etihad
Aguero nearly talked himself into the book.
Modern players don't seem to watch matches anymore. They've all got their big headphones on listening to Lil' Wayne. I heard an interview with Rio recently and he was giving some really detailed, educated opinions about the latest hip hop records.
I don't want Chelsea to think they have a chance in the league!
Sergio needs to stop his bellyaching and start scoring some bloody goals for me!
The announcer says Newcastle may be fatigued after a trip to the Ukraine on Thursday
I can't stand players that don't watch or love the game!
Same with movie stars not watching movies!!
WHY?
Zaba wins a corner off of David Luiz.
Well, that's why I wondered if a draw might be the best result. That way - you'd be 14 points ahead of Citeh and eighteen ahead of Chelski.
great save by Cech
What a save by Cech from a Nastasic header off the corner, but I think Aguero was called offside. The best chance of the match
Yeah - that bugs me too. Btw, I'm a movie buff of course and I'll be blogging the Oscars live tonight in case you want to join in.
What was your favorite film this past year?
I know. I wouldn't mind that
Of course being 15 an 16 points ahead of both wouldn't be too bad
A Chelsea win and we're fifteen and sixteen points clear. How are they in with a chance. If they are then QPR have a fair chance of survival.
I knew you were going to do that
I didn't see many movies
Lincoln was good
Why was I anonymous for one comment!!
Yaya has a shot deflected for a corner as Cisse misses a sittwer after great work by Cissoko.
Oh - what was Sergio doing? Just finish!
I am not accepting the Championship yet!
Again, 8 points ahead with 6 to play on April 8
I agree with your anonymous comment. as Luiz gifted possession and Silva did well to find Aguero, who rounded Cech, but ran it out of play
Celtic are on their way to being 21 points clear. They lead Dundee 1-0 at Parkhead
Rodwell tackles strongly but goes through Ramires.
Naughty by Jack Roddie on Ba.I guess a foul wasn't called.
Wolves host Cardiff today
I heard that UWS isn't inviting the engravers to Parkhead either. They could slip up!
BITE YOUR LIP MUR.....DON'T COUNT THE CHICKENS BEFORE THEY'RE HATCHED
I am quite surprised to see Wolves in a relegation spot. Would they be here had they kept Mick? They wouldn't have done any worse.
Celtic double their lead
Someone is definitely nervous because he fears a rally from the likes of Motherwell and Inverness Callie!
Come on, UWS - be realistic. No one is going to catch United at this point.
Dundee down to ten men as well
My two favorites are the ones I watched with the Dahlgrens. Count me in this evening
I am confident BUT I am not going say it is over
I think it is because of the way this United team is playing. They could easily lose to ANYONE
Dominated by Sotton, West Ham, Reading
Dundee is the bottom club in the SPL. Only up because Rangers were relegated. Now Dundee about to go straight back down
Cahill took that off of Hazard's foot... he was going to shoot! Then he puts in a crappy cross
Jay Rodriguez booked for a foul from behind on Jonas.
Now Zaba nearly talks himself into the book. What is it with Citeh's Argies? My brother went to Argentina in July and said they were so friendly!
Jack Cook: "James Milner is absolutely useless. City really need some natural wide men, Nasri and Silva are too central."
Rodger Armstrong: "Is the Man City bench the strongest ever fielded in the Premier League? Lescott, Kolarov, Nasri, Sinclair, Dzeko, Tevez."
Jay Howard: "Empty seats at the Etihad again."
Llwyd: "Re Rodger Armstrong @13:40 - It's not even the strongest bench this weekend!"
Paul in Manchester: "Re: Jay Howard @13:37 that's why it's known as the "Emptyhad!"
Citeh with a fouls and Cjhelsea without a single foul twenty seven minutes in. I don't think I've ever seen a team go this long without a foul
Nice quotes, UWS. I like the Emptyhad. I will it it that from here on out!
Well - I think we saw "This is 40" in Texas with you, MUR. What did we see in DC? I forget.
Before I forget , I would like to mention that I saw your house on Google Earth and that I really like it, Bob.
Jack Crook needs to get a clue - LUFC Academy is fabulous!
Cheers, mate - I'm really looking forward to getting in there and making it the new Blue Devil HQ.
It was something abut Moon Rising. Those kids on that New England style island. Also had Bruce Willis as the home wrecker.
UWS must be pleased with the events at the Emptyhad!
Great tackle by Cashley on Yaya that leads to a Citeh corner.
GOAL !!! 1-1 AT SJP . GREAT SOLO RUN BY GOUFFRHAN DOWN THE LEFT AND CISSOKO FINISHES FROM A NARROW ANGLE.POOR KEEPING BY BORUC WHO FAILED TO COVER HIS NEAR POST.
I looked at the house too. There were a couple of trees in the front yard that wasn't there... or strategically kept out of the picture from that link you sent
Sissoko... 1-1
Swansea getting on their bus in Central London... strange choice!
Now Tiote is down , injured , off a challenge from Jack Cork.Alan Pardew managing against his old club, that he managed in League One, but he did lead them to a JPT win.
Swansea leaving later!A long bus ride knowing the notorious London traffic.
Usually, the teams are in some country estate hotel!
Very strange... 10 years ago... Bradford in the Premier League.... Swansea in League 2
All goals at SJP have been scored by French players on French Day!
Police escort for the Swans
Blues and Twos all the way... that's a quote from Top Gear
How their fortunes have changed! Swansea were nearly relegated from the Football League about ten years ago, meaning they would not have been eligible to participate in this competition.
The French lost to England yesterday at Twickenham
Sissoko has had a sensational start for the Magpies.
Zabeleta with a shot blocked by a head somewhere
Nice volley from Zaba and blocked. A Chelsea player will have a massive headache for his troubles.
If I had the choice, I'd put the players up at the Savoy.
Nice result for England. definitely a great start for Cissoko.
Is it in their budget , BD? Both cup final clubs are smaller clubs with smaller budgets, possibly explaining the choice of hotels.
This is an interesting 360 look at London. I went the full spin. I found the Olympic Stadium and other stuff.... I was amazed how BIG Wembley looks... take a look at half time
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2282054/320-gigapixel-interactive-picture-London-lets-20-MILES-zoom-people-street.html
GOAL !!! 2-1 TOON . A SPECTACULAR LONG RANGE GOAL FROM CISSE THAT LANDED IN THE UPPER 90. A LONG FREE KICK FROM THE NEWCASTLE LEFT BACK AND SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD LUKE SHAW FAILED TO HEAD CLEAR. CISSE WITH THE SPECTACULAR FINISH
Shaw had been booked earlier for multiple fouls on Jonas.
Three minutes of stoppage time at SJP
Wow - I'll look forward to seeing that goal tonight.
Two minutes at the Emptyhad.
You sure will, BD. You will love it.
Make sure you find Wembley at half time
Mapo Yango-Mbiywa is on for the injured Collocini as that is another Frenchman playing for the Toon. Played for Montpellier in the CL earlier this season.
Celtic are 4 up.... this is why Celtic are Champions already and United aren't
This version of United don't crush teams. They play only well enough to squeak by
Half time... i'll take a nil niller
Halftime and 0-0 at the Emptyhad.
Well - that was all a bit uninspiring. 0-0 at half-time.
United play more difficult teams than Celtic . You can't compare
PSG take on Marseille today at 10... Becks v Barton... should be interesting
Barton is already mouthing off
Halftime and 2-1 to the Toon in more entertaining match. I am glad I am watching a link for that one.
Handbags in France?
United teams of old would win 4-0... this team... struggles at 1-0.. doubles their lead... concedes almost immediately... hang on
I will try to find Webley , but it will be tough in the London traffic and being out here in South Texas.
We don't play Killie , Motherwell, Ross County, St. Jophnstone , and the like of St. Helen Mirren every week. That might explain why Cletic were thrashed in the CL.
I found the Emirates... much smaller than Wembley
I have found quite a lot of stuff in this picture. It is a pain to control. It is backwards on what I want to do
Cardiff take the lead at Molineux after 19 minutes
Bradford City's bus has arrived at Wembley
Swansea's bus arrives a few minutes after the Barnsley one
Both teams safely inside the stadium
Celtic are five up
WOW... LOTS OF MOUNTAINS AROUND THE EMPTYHAD... according to the FSC graphic.... it's the bloody Alps!
Second half underway
The second half is underway from the Emptyhad.
It's a weird graphic. I guess you learn something new every day.The second half underway from SJP
Barnsley in the Cup Final?
Sorry about that!!!
The second half kicked off a minute and eighteen seconds later at SJP than the Emptyhad.
Great save by New Toon keeper , Elliott , from, a Rickie Lambert free kick. The corner is cleared. The Toon counter. Tiote crosses straight to Boruc.
First save Hart has to make
Hazard straight at Hart. He scored the winner on Thursday
Bob has fallen asleep on his comfort couch!!
PENALTY... TO CHELSEA!!!!
Stonewall
PENALTY CHELSEA! WHAT WAS HART THINKING AS HE RUGBY TACKLED BA IN THE BOX OFF AN INNOCUOUS LONG BALL?
Lampard to take
GOAL!!! DESMOND AT SJP AS RICKIE LAMBERT HAS SCORED FOR THE SIANTS AND HART SAVES A LAMPARD PENALTY
He steps up... saved!!!!
Gus getting too excited about the save
I wanted that to go in!!
Could this be the umph Citeh needed!
Wow - I'm back from washing some dishes just in time to see Joe Hart pull out one heck of a save against his England teammate Lamps.
Nat Clyne put Lallana through down the right and Lambert finished with a firs time touch off the cross.
That would have been Frankie Lampard's 200th league goal.
I am shocked Lamps missed.. he is wearing a Chelsea shirt not an England one
Rickie Lambert nearly scored a second as he headed inches wide.
Rodwell replaced by Tevez
I fear Citeh are going to go on and win this
Cahill tackles for a Citeh corner.Actually blocked a shot from Aguero.
It was Lambert's 100th in English footie.
Lampard didn't get #200 but Lambert did score his 100th club goal
Aguero chips over the bar
Bloody hell, Sergio - how did you miss that one?
This match has suddenly come to life!
Bloody hell, Sergio - how did you miss that one?
This match has suddenly come to life!
PHEW!!! Aguro shot just over with just Cech to beat
I'm so incensed at the wastefulness of my GBB that I've double posted!
Desmond having a great time at SJP.
Who did you have winning the title BD?
Danny Fox on for seventeen year old Luke Shaw, who has been booked.
Unfortunately - I had Citeh. Going to lose big time points on that one.
Bradford would become the first team in EUROPEAN history to win a Major Cup Final from a fourth tier
Did Rodwell come off at half-time? Why?
LOVELY!!!
I am disgusted with you by the way!
No, he was replaced by Tevez a few minutes ago
Chelsea win a corner. Zaba heads away and Citeh counter through Tev. It comes to nothing
Some commenting on the Beeb that Hart shouldn't be on the pitch.... your thoughts?
I was just predicting....I didn't say that I wanted it to happen!
Would love to see Bradford make history
Hopeless attempt there by Ramieres
You know my feeling about that issue - either give a penalty and a yellow or a red card for offenses outside of the box and a free kick. A penalty and a red card is too much.
Ramires through on a break after a one two with Ivanovic, but took too long to shoot.
GOAL... BUGGER
YAYA
GOAL! Yaya fires Citeh into the lead!
I knew it was going to happen
Why give him so much space??
BUGGER! CITEH GO STRAIGHT UP THE PITCH AND TAKE THE LEAD THROUGH YAYA , OFF A PASS FROM SILVA.
Lovely team goal there with interplay between Milner and Silva before Yaya took over. Nice bender into the corner.
1-0 Citeh!
Just as UWS predicted.
United are still 12 points up. Tell me the 12 points that you're going to drop in the last twelve matches.
11 matches
Still not over
We could lose to anyone
I am going to find a link for the Cup Final and have it full screeen. I will use the school laptop for LOB
Daniel Fine: "If Bradford win today, they will have beaten double the amount of Premier league sides as QPR have this season
I agree with UWS. Fifteen points and I might think of inviting the engravers. But not with twelve. We dropped a twelve point lead to Arsenal in 1998 and they did the same to us in 2003.
We pulled back Champions Elect Newcastle too in '96
Victor Moses on for Ramires.
Here are United's remaining league fixtures:
At home to Norwich City
Away to West Ham
At home to Reading
Away to Sunderland
At home to Citeh
Away to Stoke
At home to Villa
Away to Arsenal
At home to Chelski
At home to Swansea
Away to WBA
Where are the 12 points, gentlemen?
United still host Citeh and Chelsea and visit the Emirates
ANY OF THEM!
We lost at Wigan last year
We lost at Norwich this year
We should have lost at home to Southampton
We should have lost twice in the Cup to West Ham
Correct. what was their lead?Moses was on for Lamps. Oscar to come on soon.
Newcastle retake the lead... Cabaye
We were two down to Villa
We have three tough ones, so we have to keep winning.
Newcastle have scored again! 3-2 Magpies! Cabaye with a pen.
I missed the Cabaye goal as my link buggered, but it's back on. Talk about dodgy.
You haven't lost in yonks - why would you start losing to the likes of West Ham and Villa now?
Surprised that Lamps and Hazard are off
hey... I hope you're right!!
That was a different Villa side. They have imploded since then.
Luv a late equalizer here.... knock the stuffing out of Citeh
Barry Horne said it was a pen from Cabaye. Three of five goals have been from French players on French Day
Me too, UWS.
Shoot it Ivanovic!!!
Again, Chelsea take too long to shoot.
Citeh countered through Clichy, but his long cross was straight to Cech
