The Final Round of the Championship
So, today is the last round of matches in the Championship with still many things to be decided.
Will Hull or Watford join Cardiff with the big boys? Who will make the playoffs?
Down the bottom, Wolves look doomed to join Bristol City. Will it be Barnsley, Peterborough, Millwall or Wednesday to join them. After all that is decided, the Premier League gets going. The two North London teams have important games!

Morning boys
I thought all of these matches were on the Sunday like the Premier League last round but they are all today and all early kick offs
I will not be here for the first half of those matches but I will have my iphone with Soccer Saturday going strong
I will be back
Morning, UWS - thanks for the excellent post. I'm liking the graphic particularly. I'm here today until about 2pm, so I'll miss the last bit of the QPR v. Arsenal late one.
Good morning
I am off now but will be back
I've got a nice link up for the Watford v. Leeds match through First Row.
Cheerio, mate!
Good morning Bob and UWS.
WAY HAY! They just said UW vs Leeds in on BEIN!
Lovely jubbly- morning, MUR!
BUGGER!!!!! Why did Terry Leigh say they were showing that match when they are actually showing Hull City vs Cardiff? Sorry Bob.
Team news out of Vicarage Road -
Watford: Bond, Doyley, Pudil, Cassetti, Chalobah,Ekstrand, Hogg, Anya, Abdi, Deeney, Forestieri. Subs: Bonham, Briggs, Yeates, Hall, Battocchio, Geijo, Vydra.
United: Kenny, Peltier, Lees, Pearce, Drury, Tonge, Brown, Green, McCormack, Morison, Varney. Subs: Cairns, Warnock, Killock, White, Hall, Poleon, Lenighan.
Referee: G Salisbury
The announcer blames Hull's slump on the absence of Robert Koren due to injury. They need to be deeper than that
Doyley is the only member of the UW lineup that was with Watford when they were last in the Prem
Uh - it looks as if the berk running the First Row site has opted for Palace v. Posh instead. I'm searching for another link.
A great atmosphere at the KC.They're off!
COME ON YOU REDS!
That's better - Link 2 has the match from Vicarage Road.
sORRY ABOUT THAT bOB.I probably would have picked the one on BEIN or Forest vs the Foxes.
Well done. The ref had to get a beach ball off the pitch
El Mohammedy has a shot deflected for a Hull City corner.
Okay - this is an Al Jazeera stream with Arabic language. I'll have to deal with it. Kick-off - come on, you light and dark blues!
Brady took the corner and McShane headed down as the Man Yoo rejects combined. Then Brady won a corner off of KIm. A foul was called on the next corner.
Diouf - not on the pitch or in the squad. Hmmmm...either's injured or he's off. Dunno.
Actually Cardiff is wearing their traditional blue.
COME ON YOU BLUES!
wASN'T HE SENT OFF LAST WEEK?
Forest take the lead vs the Foxes.
BLOODY NORAH! That put Forest in 6th ahead of Bolton.I knew that East Midlands derby would be significant.
Hull City are up for this.
That's the quick start that we wanted to the day. Brilliant!
We've got a lengthy stoppage on the pitch now with Steve Morison down for the count. There's some blood around his mouth. He looks a bit woozy.
Brighton take the lead vs wolves . At the KC , George Boyd, on loan from Young Fergie though he had given Hull City the lead as he kicked the ball in off a Cardiff for what he thought was an OG, but he was about two yards offaide when he received the pass.
OUCH! Hope they can get fit and back in action.
Brighton will finish fourth no matter the result, but Wolves are in serious trouble.
BUGGER!!!! NOT A BIG CLUB TAKE THE LEAD VS MIDDLESBORUGH. Not what we wanted
Brighton have taken the lead! They're heading up - and Wolves are heading down.
Bugger - Not a Big Club are 1-0 up over Boro.
Not much of note at the KC as it's all route one from both sides!
As it stands, Barnsley, Wolves and Bristol are heading down. Not what I wanted.
cRaig Noone wins a corner off of Paul McShane.
Morison has given up the ghost on continuing today. He's been replaced by Poleon early doors. A sad end to an indifferent first season at the club. We must buy some proper striking talent during the summer.
A foul is called on the corner.
Quit true, Bob. Sorry to hear that
Oh - should have been a penalty for Watford there. Definitely contact. We were lucky.
The relegation race is wide open as Barnsley take the lead at Huddersfield.
We're just about hanging on - Watford clearly the better side.
Young Fergie is in the drop zone on 55 points!
Wow - this is great stuff. Goals really flying in as we wanted.
COME ON YOU TROTTERS!
Posh and Hudders are now in real trouble.
pHIL bROWN IS DOING RADIO COMMENTARY. hE WAS IN CHARGE OF hULL cITY WHEN THEY WERE in the top flight
If Derby take the lead vs Millwall then the thugs will be in the drop zone.
OH! Craig Conway cut in and shot inches wide as Cardiff nearly took the lead.A corner was awarded and Kim shot over, to the delight of the Hull City fans
DAMN IT!
BLACKPOOL TAKE THE LEAD AT THE REEBOK!
Poleon has looked lively since coming on.
The match at the KC is insignificant if the Trotters don;t do their part
Well done mate!
David Stockdale catches a Conway free kick and releases Hull on the counter and a cross from El Mohammedy is headed out
Now then - the Watford keeper has been mullered by his own defender. He's down for the count. Manuel Almunia was ruled out in the warm-up, so who knows who will go in goal.
Meanwhile Poleon has got a yellow for a push on the defender.
Hull City pressure and Noone leads a Cardiff attack that is cleared . bRady had a two shots blocked. Now they have a corner.
Young Jack Bonham - a youth squad member - is getting prepared to go in goal now. He is a beanpole.
Hull Cioty have the ball in midfield off their corner and David Marshall easily catches a cross from Brady
The Foxes tie it up at Forest in an unusually important East Midlands Derby.
We're getting the "Dirty Northern Bastards" treatment from the Watford fans now.
Lovely at Vicarage Road.
That's good for you, but Bolton need a goal back as well.
Unusually naughty from Watford fans. Are they being honest?
If Posh get a goal at Selhurst Park, Huddersfield could get relegated on 57 points. Extraordinary!
Correct . Bolton is a point behind Forest and a point ahead of The Foxes in a stale East Midlands sandwich. An equalizer puts Bolton ahead of Forest by + 3 on gd.
Yeah - it was a bad push from Poleon on the defender that propelled him into the keeper.
Sorry - I don't know why that posted as Anonymous.
NOSTRABOBUS! posh take the lead at Palace! As you stated. Tough for the Terriers
Goal at Selhurst Park - and it is for Posh! Wow - Hudders into the dropzone.
Andrew Taylor booked for Cardiff.BEIN just went to Vicarage Road to mention the Almunia injury. Better late than never.
Well - Hudders with a goal back would put Barnsley back in the dropzone. Crazy permutations now.
Well over from Robbie Brady after great work from George Boyd. He should have at least hit the target. Poor from the former MUFC Academy player
ALmunia was actually injured in the warm-up. It was their second string goalkeeper Jonathan Bond who has just been stretchered off. Now they're on their third keeper of the day.
If every result stays the same except for Derby taking the lead vs Millwall then the EVil Lions would be in the drop zone.!
That would be magic.
free kick to Hull.Into the wall bvy Robbie brady. The return cross was headed away
Then El Mohammedy had a cross w headed away as it is constant Hull pressure.
About fifteen minutes of stopped play at Vicarage Road. I wonder how much time the ref will add on.
BUGGER BLACKPOOL TWO UP AT THE REEBOK AND NOT A BIG CLUB TWO UP VS BOROUGH
Blackpool now 0-2 up on Bolton - sorry, mate.
Four sides on 57 points now - it couldn't be tighter.
What a save by David Marshall from Robbie Brady as it's been all Hull City the last ten minutes
Michael Brown picks up his requisite booking.
The old record for most points by a club relegated from the second tier of English footie is 52 points. That record will be shattered today. From the announcer on BEIN.
El Mohammedy booked for Hull City
Thanks mate. I was back from the loo and it seems like my PPP hopes are going down the crapper!
Dear me - now Luke Varney is down for the count. This is the third lengthy stoppage in the first half.
A roar going up around Vicarage Road. They must think that Hull are losing - but I don't see any evidence of it.
Poor by Zola . Why would he play 75 year old John Bond ion goal? Of course he's going to get injured!
No. Still 0-0 at the KC
Brum take the lead vs Blackburn. Does that have any significance. The Foxes now lead 1-2 at Forest
GOAL! One out of nothing. It's the villain Dominic Poleon who profits from a real howler at the back between young Jack Bonham and his defender. Only had to stick it in an empty net!
0-1 Leeds!
Hull in the driver's seat now for that second automatic slot.
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
BEIN JUST SHOW LEEDS TAKING THE LEAD AT VICARAGE . POLOEON WITH THE GOAL. HORRIBLE UWW DEFENDING
Agreed. I just saw the goal
Meanwhile, we're back up in the top half - 12th.
The announcer said that Leeds are releasing ten players this summer.Your thoughts?
And on 61 points - exactly the same as last season.
The Foxes are now in 6th place.
I wouldn't be surprised - and I'd be delighted. I want my doppelganger to rebuild the side around players who want to play football.
MOT!
The Foxes are now in the lead - and in the play-off spots.
Into stoppage time at The KC and Hull fans are going bonkers
Bloody hell - it is 16 minutes of stoppage time to be played at Vicarage Road before half time. The second halfs will start up elsewhere before we get to the interval.
I just heard that there will be SIXTEEN MINUTES OF STOPPAGE TIME AT VICARAGE ROAD!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
BOLTON SCORE AT THE REEBOK.
COME ON DESMOND!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
DESMOND AT THE REEBOK!
I LOVE YOU DESMOND!
BUGGER ! YOUNG FERGIE TIE IT UP VS PALACE!
halftime at the KC and still 0-0
Wow - two quicks goals for Bolton. Still outside the playoff spots, but now merely on goal difference.
Actually - it was Palace who equalized there after the earlier Posh goal. They're now deep in the dropzone.
Still in seventh behind the Foxes on GD.Bolton need a win today.Bolton have +8 gd and the Foxes , who must have run up the score in some matches, have a +23 gd.
BUGGGER! Abdi has equalized deep into stoppage.
1-1!
They sure are, but 55 points would still break the record by three points. We need Derby County to take the lead.
Come on, the Rams!
SORRY MATE!UW still third , a point behind Hull City
I'm gonna need a visit to the Magical Couch in a moment.
Looks like Leeds brought a lot of fans down to Vicarage Road
While watching Leeds?
We always have a lot of away fans - that's why we usually play at 12:45 on a Saturday.
After we reach half-time....
I see. Did you hear that The Blades defeated Yeovil 1-0 in the first leg of a playoff semi yesterday. Still wide open as they play the return leg at Yoevil in midweek.
I have the match from Vicarage Road on.
Yeah - hoping that Yeovil can come back. I'd love to see the Sheffield derby in L1 where it belongs next season.
I am sure you would like Michael Brown to be one of the ten to be released.
This is the longest half of football I've ever watched.
Absolutely,BD. Swindon vs Brentford is the other L! playoff. One of the late matches.
Sixteen minutes is a lot of stoppage time
Useless free kick from Ross.
Troy Deeney booked for UW
Spitty is serving a ban for being sent off last week.
Halftime and 1-1 from Vicarage Road.
Yeah - I'd shop Michael Brown, Paul Rachubka, Adam Drury, Paddy Kisnorbo, Stephen Warnock, Paul Connolly, Aidy White, Ryan Hall, Danny Pugh, Steve Morison, Davide Somma and David Norris. Clean sweep.
We've reached half-time at Vicarage Road finally. Off for a quick kip.
Add one more to the MUFC Academy factor as Frazier Campbell is about to come on for Cardiff. Also played for Brucey at Sunderland and helped Hull City to promotion a few years ago, so there are some boos for him.
the second half is underway from the KC
I am back but I have to go out to the front yard for a bit
Why were there so many added minutes at VR
I need another Bolton goal and /or Desmond to go to The City Ground
It's a long story. Manuel Almunia was injured in the pregame warmup, then UW reserve keeper, John Bond was injured. Also , Steve Morison went off injured for Leeds. Tha t accumulated to sixteen minutes.
Welcome back, UWS,
GOAL!!! FRAZIER CAMPBELL GIVES CARDIFF THE LEAD AT THE KC.HE WAS ONLY A HALFTIME SUB
The goal came out of nothing as Kim sent a lovely ball from midfield and Campbell got behind the defense to finish superbly past David Stockdale.
Nearly 1-1 as Hull City had a corner that was headed on and the other halftime sub, Proschwitz shot into the side netting from a yard out
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
DESMOND AT THE CITY GROUND
CHARLTON LEAD BRISTOL CITY 2-0
JB TIES IT UP FOR HUDDERSFIELD VS BARNSLEY AND THE TYKES ARE BACK IN THE DROP ZONE.
LOVELY JUBBLY!
BOLTON NOW IN A PLAYOFF SPOT ON GD AHEAD OF FOREST.
BLOW UP REFS!
Now UW are in an automatic promotion spot as Hull City are now in a playoff spot./
ironic that Campbell scored as he was top scorer when on loan to Hull when they won promotion, including scoring the winner for them in the playoff final. Now he could score the goal that forces them into the playoffs out of an automatic promotion spot.
GOAL ! 1-1- as poschwitz , who missed a sitter earleir, ties it up for Hull City. Marshall saved superbly from David Naylor, then Stephen Quinn put in a superb cross for Posschwitz to head home
Craig Noone wins a corner off of Faye
Back after a power nap with a strong cuppa for the run in. Hull now really look like they're going up - 3-1 up now. Really quiet at Vicarage Road.
Predictably - Cardiff can't give a toss today after already securing promotion.
GOAL!!! PAUL MCSHANE SLIDES IN TO GIVE HULL CITY A 2-1 LEAD.
Rudy Gestede is on for Kim
As it stands, UW will play Bolton and Brighton will play Palace in the playoffs.
Young Fergie lead 1-2 at Palace. They are two points clear now.
Frazier Campbell was through on goal, but ran it out wide and gave time for Faye to recover and nick it away
As it stands, Luciano Becchio will be the runaway top goalscorer for us with 20 goals. Ross McCormack and Spitty will both end of 7 goals - not nearly enough. Steve Morison a total flop on 3 goals.
Brighton now lead Wolves 2-0 and it is two successive relegations for Wolves.
Yes - Barnsley are back in trouble. Only two sides now above them on 57. Hudders and Not a Big Club look safe.
More goals. Blackburn tie it up at St. Andrews. Burnley take the lead vs Ipswich and Bristol City score at Charlton, but trail 2-1
I am back now after spraying weeds in the yard.
Hopefully, I am back for good!
I have been listening to SS on the iPhone
I'll find a link on the TV now
A superb save by David Marshall from Robbie Brady. he made one first team appearance for MUFC before moving to Hull City. That was this season.
welcome back, UWS.
Hull City clear a Cardiff long throw then a stupid handball by Meyler in the D. Free kick Cardiff
Actually, my radio is earlier than the link!
Into the wall and cleared by Noone as Hull City counter but it runs out of play
Jason Scotland gives Barnsley a 1-2 lead at Huddersfield and Barnsley are now in the drop zone
If Millwall concede at Pride Park, they will be going down right now
Red Card at Vicarage Road... Watford are down to ten!
Barnsley back ahead of Huddersfield
Now I found a video link ahead of my iPhone
Barnsley, Millwall, and Young Fergie are out of the drop zone on GD.Not a Big Club and Blackburn are one point clear
Woof - what a nasty one there from Troy Deeney! He's off with a second yellow. Stupidity. Watford down to ten. Zola not a happy chappy.
You are correct about Pride Park. Bob and I have been urging derby County for a good hour
Sending you guys a couple of acoustic versions of old JHJ songs (Shattered Dream and Turn Back the Clock) performed on The Terry Wogan Show
Look for an email
We just need a Derby goal. I can't see Boro getting two back at Hillsborough.
They look resigned to the playoffs. That would rule Deeney out for the match vs possibly Bolton on Thursday. Yours Truly not complaining
Are both of you watching matches?
Hull Cardiff?
Watford Leeds?
Desmond at Huddersfield
Good strategic move from Brian McDermott - Brown off for Aidy White. Brown was itching for a red card.
I was dreading a match for Bolton vs UW , but with their top scorer suspended it will make their job a lot easier. Now wonder why Zola is furious
Just turned on the Hull match to hopefully see celebrations
I'm only watching Hull vs Cardiff due to computer problems at this time. Barnsley back in the drop zone.
So, i would like another Barnsley goal and a Derby goal
Hull will be very relieved to go up... they just had to beat Bristol City at home a couple of Fridays ago and they drew nil nil!
Barnsley have the most seasons in the second tier in the history of English football, but may not extend that record.
Correct, UWS. They should go straight back down
Are you watching the Leeds match Bob?
Again, I have SS and KC
Palace tie it up against Peterboro... does that drop them down
Goal at PRIDE PARK... TO DERBY!!!
Charlton now lead Bristol City 3-1
If Barnsley score they will switch places with Huddersfield... who they're playing
YESSSSSSSSS!!!
COME ON BARNSLEY
bUGGER ! Palace tie it up as it is Desmond vs young fergie
Hull did survive a season in the Prem last time, didn't they?
Now we need goals from both Barnsley and Young Fergie
Watford fans now really down in the dumps. They'll have to pick themselves back up for the play-offs.
Double header on the Box today
Spurs on ESPN
Villa on FSC
Then Arsenal
Spurs and Sotton kick off is delayed 30 minutes because of a road accident.... will ESPN say with the match???
Welcome back, mate. Thanks for the tunes. I'm watching my beloved against Watford, of course. 1-1 currently.
