The Penultimate Premiership Sunday
I've had a bit of a Sunday lie-in, so I'm just getting to the Premiership matches on FSC. First up is the crucial Stoke v. Spurs match from the Britannia. It's Stoke 150th anniversary, but Spurs will be hoping to spoil the party with a solid win. Later on we've got the largely ceremonial last United home match against Swansea. Apparently some kilt-wearer will be giving an interview after the match where he'll ask to borrow a tenner for the weekend. Join me for all the action!

Watford and Leicester have got to half-time in their second leg match at 1-1. That means that Leicester are currently 1-2 on aggregate. Not sure if away goals count double in this one.
David Nugent has scored both Leicester goal in the playoffs so far.
Good morning Bob. I will only be around for Stoke vs Spurs. We have some Mother's Day things to do.
Away goals do not count in the playoffs.
A very festive day for the Potters. Gooner will be hoping that it gees up the players a bit for this last home match of the season at the Britannia.
Watford vs the Foxes is not on BEIN because they have motorcycle racing on instead.
Morning, MUR - a very good Mother's Day to you and Elizabeth.
He sure will.He would not want Arsenal to lose their first ever Wenger Cup to their bitter rivals.
I'm really surprised that Udinese West are in this position. I expected to get automatic promotion for Zola and now they're forty five minutes away from elimination from the playoffs.
Cheers Bob. We will record SAF's ;last ever match at OT because we will be going out to eat with her family. NOT MY FAULT!
UW just one goal from tying it up as the away goals rule is not used in the playoffs.
They're off from the Brittania.
As they kick off, Spurs will overtake Arsenal in the vital CL fourth spot, albeit on goal difference alone and with one more match played.
And we're underway from the Britannia. Lots of great crowd noise from the off.
Dempsey gives away a silly early free kick. Stoke can swing one in to the big boys now.
GOAL! What a start for Stoke. N'Zonzi has scored!
1-0 Potters - Gooner is delighted!
GOAL !!! 1-0 STOKE AS NZONZI HEADS IN A FREE KICK FROM CHARLIE ADAM AND I CAN HEAR GOONER CELEBRATING
His first Stoke goal and what a time to score as far as Gooner is concerned.
Didn't Spurs know about the threat from Stoke at set pieces?
I neglected to post the line-ups - here they are:
Stoke - Begovic, Shotton, Shawcross, Huth, Wilson, Adam, Whitehead, N'Zonzi, Etherington, Walters, Crouch.
Spurs - Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Vertonghen, Lennon, Huddlestone, Parker, Dempsy, Bale, Ade.
I agree - that was poor from Vertonghen who should have been covering that near post area - lost his man.
Oh - Bale nearly whipped in an equalizer. Begovic was equal to it.
Nice job by Begovic to tip over from Bale.
An atrocious corner from Fatty.
I'm not sure why BEIN is televising motorcycling racing instead of the match at Vicarage Road.
Crouch and Etherington will be up for the match against their old club.
I will be leaving st the end of this match and will be recording the United match
High and wide by Bale.
I'm surprised as well. For some reason the Championship hasn't been able to brand itself the way the Premiership has. They're missing out on a golden opportunity.
I wonder what happened to Bob? If Spurs lose and Arsenal defeat Wigan then that clinch the Wenger trophy for the Gunners.
Spurs are back down to 66 points and inferior GD to Arsenal to boot.
There you are. Brighton vs Palace will be on BEIN tomorrow.
Will Wigan become the first club to win the FA Cup the same season that they are relegated?
That's correct - it may be enough for Wenger to keep his job. Not sure how Gooner will feel about that, especially if it's another summer where they sell more players than they bring in.
I am off on Memorial Day so I will be around for the Championship Playoff Final.
Hey Boys,
I still have a houseful of people today.
I won't be around much today
Clint has a goal disallowed for offside.
Good morning UWS. Did you see the rest of the FA Cup Final?
when Roberto Martinez was giving instructions to Ben Watson what he did he mean by elementary My Dear Watson?
Stoke fans shouting boring.
What do Fatty's meals and free kicks have in common?
GOAL! Dempsey has leveled it!
It's a catalog of errors there at the back for Stoke. A nothing ball through by Parker, Begovic went for it but the ball was poorly cleared out straight to Dempsey who had the forethought to chip the keeper.
1-1!
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS CLINT SCORES A BIZARRE EQUALIZER . HUTH WITH A LONG CLEARANCE WHEN BEGOVIC WANTED TO CLEAR IT. CLINT TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE KEEPER BEING OUT OF POSITION AND SHOT INTO AN EMPTY NET FROM ABOUT 40 YARDS OUT
Answer - they're both overcooked?
Gooner will be furious at that horrible miscommunication between Huth and Begovic. I still think Arsenal will clinch the Wenger trophy with a win vs Wigan thanks to their massive goal difference.
Well done Bob.
Bale has a chance from the free kick - but wellies it well over the bar.
As was Bale's free kick. You know Fatty well!
Was I correct about the answer to that question?
How did Wigan win the FA CUP?
ELEMENTARY MY DEAR WATSON!
Yes. You were. and just like Fatty's meals, well done, Bob!
Speaking of cooking, I'm assuming that UWS and kids have taken Kathy out for a Mom's Day brunch. UWS would like to make a "breakfast in bed," but he can't manage to boil water!
Boom boom!
Nice one, mate! Ben Watson - what a hero!
BOOM BOOM , BOB! REALLY HILARIOUS
Spurs are dominating proceedings now. Corner.
Watford take a 2-1 lead and it's level on aggregate. No away goals rule in the playoffs. Headed for ET.
What are your Mother's Day plans, mate?
Matej Vydra with a brace for UW. he had been in a slump and missed a couple of good chances at The Crisps. Also , Troy Deeney is back from suspension after being sent off vs Leeds.
We are going out to eat with Elizabeth's parents, then I will drop off Melanie for rehearsal, then Elizabeth and her mum will go shopping. After that, Melanie has a concert then we head home. What are you doing today?
Kyle Walker wins a Spurs corner.
One thing I don't want to do is be in hot water like UWS.
Roberto Mancini told me he could have used Dave Watson after that late goal and I said he played in the Cup Final 40 years ago, mate!
Hey,
I am back for a while. I saw the Spurs goal
I am watching Gillett Soccer Special. Classic video of watching Toon fans reacting to the goals from DW last week
Hello UWS. Bob said you and your sons would be taking Kathy out for breakfast because of something to do with boiling water. What did he mean by that?
Huth goes into the book. for Stoke. His requisite yellow.Undercooked by Kyle walker.
Huth in the book for a rugby tackle. Shawcroft should be too.. He kicked the ball at Bale while he was on the ground.
HOPELESS free kick by Walker... you're a professional
Ade had a shot blocked for a corner./
What about the free kicks from Fatty
Welcome back, UWS - a very happy Mother's Day to you and Kathy.
Another overcooked corner from Fatty.
QUIT THINKING ABOUT THE MEALS!
I second that . Happy Mothers Day to you and Kathy.
Begovic seems a bit jittery now after that howler that led to Dempsey's equalizer.
Walters and Walker having a friendly meeting of the minds now.
Handbags between Kyle walker and Walters.
No idea what that nutter from Fredtwon is talking about
We have our friends still here from Charlotte. We are going to be cooking a brunch for the mums when they get back from picking up their daughter.
they are all here for her bridal shower.
Great save by Begovic off the header from Dawson from the free kick by Bale.
Decent delivery by Bale and Dawson with a great header.. nice save
Who just got booked?
Great save, Begovic, from Dawson's header. That will give him a bit more confidence. Stoke need to pull their fingers out - they've been pants since that early goal.
WOW! A busy day, UWS. Same for us as Melanie has a concert this afternoon.
No sure that anyone got booked.
Just noticed Watford are winning 2-1 so it is Desmond on Agg. Away goals don't count, correct?
I am not sure who was just booked. Just some lectures from the ref.
Correct UWS. As it stands, they are heading for ET at Vicarage Road.
Watford have a goal disallowed for offside
Vertonghen down off a challenger from Charlie Adam as Spurs had trouble dealing with a cross.
Charlie Adam booked for that.
Charlie Adam picks up a cheap yellow card merely for challenging for that ball with Vertonghen.
Sorry, I missed your welcome
Same to you and yours
Tony Puylis upset over nothing but that's the norm for him.
Bale breaks... saved
Extra time plus penalties today at Vicarage Road?
Why don't they use away goals?
Great save by Begovic from Bale and out for a corner.Another wasted corner.
Cheers UWS.
I am not sure Bob. I think it adds excitement to the playoff.
Charlie Adam wins a corner after getting past Kyle Walker.
Lloris misses the corner from Adam and Spurs clear
Adam crosses to Lloris and that's it as it's 1-1 at the half.
Half time
Looked good for what I saw
That's that for the first half at the Britannia. Gooner will be reasonably pleased by that scoreline if it were a final result.
FSC keep mentioning that it's the last home match at Old Trafford for some bloke named Ferguson. Never heard of him - is he one of the ballboys?
Short and sweet programme notes from Sir Alex Ferguson for his final Old Trafford match.
"He writes: 'To the fans, thank you. The support you have provided over the years has been truly humbling. It has been an enormous honour and an enormous privilege to have led your club and I have treasured my time as manager of Manchester United.'"
Bob is just tying to get on my rag!!
I still want a proper comment from both or even one of the Dahlgren boys about SAF... 26 years of effort is deserving
Leicester City get a penalty... AND MISS IT
My link must behind
WATFORD HAVE GONE DOWN THE OTHER END AND SCORE!!!!!!
This is after 6 minutes of added time
WHAT IS WITH PENALTIES BEING MISSED AND THEN A GOAL IN THE OTHER END
Almunia saved the spot kick, saved the rebound and it went down the other end to score... just like Brentford fortnight ago, Hull last week..... UNBELIEVABLE
IT IS OVER
WATFORD HAVE MADE WEMBLEY
WOW! Troy Deeney, who was suspended for the first leg , scores in the seventh minutes of stoppage time, immediately after Anthony Knockaert missed a pen for the Foxes. It proved to be the winning goal as UW is through to the final 3-2 on agg.Knockaert got his side knocked aert!
The second half is underway from, the Brittania
That playoff final was a real Knockaert!
Poor free kick from Charlie Adam headed out by the first man.
Stupid by Charlie Adam after he is sent off for a second yellow from a horrible foul on Vertonghen.
We're off again at the Britannia and Charlie Adam has got himself tossed off. That was at least a yellow card offense whereas the first one was barely a foul.
Stoke down to ten men!
Stoke down to ten men and Gooner will be none too pleased.
Did you see our comments about the dramatic finale at Vicarage Road?
I am upstairs for a minute and missed the red card
I'll say something nice about Fergie when UWS admits that Leeds United are the greatest football team in all the land.
Will Bob be naughty for SAF's final match at OT?
Fatty has a shot deflect for a corner.
Oh - great ball in and Dempsey nearly got his brace!
OH! Just over by Clint off the corner from Bale. Looked like a training ground routine.
What do you think, MUR? ;-)
I expect nothing less, Bob!
The other 3pm kickoffs start at the top of the hour. The most important ones involve teams at the bottom:
Norwich v. WBA, Sunderland v. Soton and QPR v. Newcastle.
Wins for Norwich, Newcastle and Sunderland will just about seal Wigan's fate.
I have lost my link... very annoying
Wigan cannot be relegated today because Sunderland and Sotton play each other. Wigan will still be able to catch the loser and can catch both if it finishes in a draw.
I am leaving at the end of this match and will be recording the United match.I will watch when I get home this evening
Vertonghen launches a shot into orbit there.
Miles over by Vertonhen after Clint appeared to control a pass with his hand.
Nearing the hour mark - Wilkinson on for Etherington and Cam Jerome on for Crouchie.
A double substitution as both ex Spurs players are replaced . Wilikinson on for Etherington and Cameron Jerome on for Crouchie.
A through ball from Parker for Lennon and Marc wilson clears for a corner.. No it is a goal kick
Spurs still trying to press their man advantage here.
Spurs have been less of a threat since they have been a man up.
I just found out that I don't have to do the cooking!
Just the kids are cooking
Great solo run by Fatty then it breaks to Bale, whose shot is held by Begovic when a pass was a better option.
Easy Peasy, UWS?
Bale hits a free kick straight into the wall - Gooner is chuckling.
The free kick from Bale is into the wall and out for a corner.
Good thing, too. You'd burn the whole place down!
Wlaker has a long range effort blocked by Shawcross as it knocked him down!
BOOM BOOM!
aNOTHER FREE KICK AS rYAN sHOTTON IS BOOKED FROM A PUSDH ON bALE.
Oh - Huddlestone picked out Vertonghen who nods over. He was being mugged as he rose.
Dembele coming on for Parker - it's about time for that attacking change.
Dembele on for Parker.Vertongehen heads just over from the free kick and he really should have scored as it was a free header./
Gooner will not concur, Bob!
Blazed over by Wilko as a long throw from Shotton was headed away
True - he's hoping that Stoke corner-flag it for the next 12 minutes or so.
Stoke leading 4-0 in bookings.
About twenty minutes remaining. Gooner would like to borrow Fergie's famous watch
Begovic tips over a shot from Clint.Spurs keep possession from a short corner.
A cross from Lennon is deflected for a corner.
The corner from Fatty is headed away
Great round of applause for Moyes at Goodison
The final throw of the dice from Tony Pulis as Jeff Cameron is on for Ryan Shotton. AVB Replies by bringing on Dafoe for LUFC Academy Boy.
Bale misses a big chance!
Oh - Bale misses one late chance for once. Gooner was cringing!
OH! Just wide by Bale.
Gooner must have bitten his nails raw by now.
Fatty overcooks that tackle and picks up a yellow card.
Fatty is the first Spurs player booked.
Horrible free kick from Marc Wilson.
Do you think Arsenal will get full points against CUP WINNERS and a desperate Toon
A friendly meeting between Ade and Shawcross.
Everton take the lead
Oh - Stoke trying to nick it late on here.
I think they will, UWS. everton take the lead vs the Hammers in Moyses's last match at Goodison Park.
My link hasn't announced the goal yet
It's hard to predict. I think Wigan might get a point.
Kevin Mirallis with the goal
Huth heads the free kick over.
either way, It appears that the match vs Villa will be a must win match
GOAL! Ade has thrust a knife into Arsenal hearts!
My SS link just announced the goal... why can't I get one on time
GOAL....SPURS TAKE THE LEAD
Made by Dempsey scored by Ade
GOAL !!! 1-2 SPURS AS ADE SCORES EASILY AT THE FAR POST. A PASS FROM BALE DEFLECTED TO CLINT , WHO PICKED OUT ADE AT THE FAR POST.
Gooner not enjoying that Adebayor wiggle at all. Set up by Dempsey.
1-2!
QPR TAKE THE LEAD VS THE TOON.Good news for Wigan
QPR take the lead against Newcastle... are they going down!!
Gooner will be livid. Now a must win for the Gunners.
That will put Spurs on 69 points from 37 matches and +19 GD. Up into 4th ahead of Arsenal's clash with Wigan on Tuesday.
Goal coming into from Loftus Road - and it's to the hosts. Newcastle are 1-0 down!
They might.
Newcastle now on 38 points but worse goal difference than Wigan.
Rooney not even on the bench!!
What does that mean???
Remy scored with a spot kick for QPR.
Paul Scholes starts for Untied after announcing his second retirement
Yohan Cabaye fouled Junior Hoilett in the box and Loic Remy converted the penalty there at Loftus Road.
They said Cabaye conceded the penalty , but it looked like Debuchy and like really dumb.
Roon is already trying on berets for size. He's off!
I think the second retirement is permanent. Giggs to follow suit?
I think he is. I guess he had enough of Moyes at Everton.
I love the way that FSC are cutting in with updates.
I'd send him to Europe.. not England
Colleen would like Paris
Do you think Giggs will retire because of Fergie
It's a shame because English players rarely do well abroad. I fear for his England career.
The Toon tie it up at Loftus Road.as there are four minutes of stoppage time.
I think Giggs may retire.
