Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Trivia Time

I ran across this bit of trivia and wondered if I was the only person that was impressed by this fact: What was the only League team that Alex Ferguson's Manchester United faced, and never beat? I'll post the answer after a few days or after a correct answer.

Excellent question - I'm guessing the United bogey team Southampton.

Didn't they lose to Souhend United in a League Cup game? Some bloke... Freddie Eastwood score a cracker of a free kick

I think I'm right... no cheating

Of course, United could have beaten them another time but I am going to say Southend United

We have a Winner! Yes, Southend United according to the article in this months When Saturday Comes was the only team that Alex Ferguson's MUFC faced that they never beat. Well done UWS!

Very impressive indeed! UWS has a photographic memory indeed. I would have never guessed Southend. Great picture.

I think I might. If he curled around the wall to the right from about 25 yards then that was the one. Does that sound correct?

I think he went to Coventry at the end of the season and played for them in the Championship, also being capped by Wales. I think he played for Coventry vs Chelsea in the FA Cup in a 0-2 defeat at the Ricoh in 2010. Not sure where he's at now.
