Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Hello Bob. Thank you for the post. I will be teaching this afternoon, but will try to chip in with a few comments if possible.
Afternoon, MUR - I hope you can watch a bit of it. It promises to be a real cracker. Very different from yesterday's snoozefest.
Here's the team news out of the Bernabeu tonight:
Real Madrid: Casillas; Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Coentrão; Alonso, Modric, Isco; Di Maria, Benzema, Ronaldo. Subs: Diego López, Varane, Bale, Marcelo, Casemiro, Morata, Illarra.
Bayern Munich: Neuer; Rafinha, Boateng, Dante, Alaba; Lahm; Robben, Kroos, Schweinsteiger, Ribery; Mandzukic. Subs: Raeder, Zingerle, Martínez, Pizarro, Gotze, Weiser, Müller.
Referee: Howard Webb.
Oh dear - it's Webby doing the officiating this afternoon. That could get embarrassing.
Monkeyboy Bale on the bench tonight.
Teams in the tunnel tonight.
The Sky Sports link wasn't working well on the First Row site, so I'm consoling myself with the Fox coverage.
Kick off!
Really great atmosphere in the Bernabeu tonight.
Somewhat different plan of 4-4-2 from Real.
Bayern with their possession game already. But can they do anything with it?
Appalling commentary here from a Gus and Waldo doing the color.
The home crowd starting to whistle. Are they complaining about their home team not being able to get the ball off Bayern or for the boring tactics of the Germans.
First corner goes to Bayern.
Ancellotti may have to change his game plan if this continues.
Robben tries a pop with his left peg but screws is horribly wide. Gus yelling his head off. I'm about to mute the commentary.
Just a quick check on the PPP predictions:
Bayern - Gooner, MUR, Red Devil, Red Dragon, Swansong, UWS, West Ham,
Real - Blue Devil, Simon
Benzema gives Real the lead!!!!!
Quick break through Ronaldo to Isco who laid it on a plate for Benzema at the back post. Classic counter.
1-0 Real!
How will Bayern respond to going behind - they haven't had to face a side like Real quite yet.
Jacob Steinberg on the Guardian says, "Who needs possession anyway?"
Another great break there from Real leads to a long drive by DiMaria that Neuer gobbles up.
Oh - how did Skippy miss that? Another devastating break from Modric out to Contreau and then back inside to Skippy. Shanked it.
While Bayern is still dominating possession, Real look like scoring with every attack.
Free kick now for Real - Modric over it.
Half an hour in - Real with the advantage.
Bayern starting to get a bit more frustrated and swinging in hopeful crosses hoping that Mandzukic can do something with them.
Hey Bob
Just got home
I just watched the goal and Ronny's miss
Has it been Real on top?
Quite a big couple of days in the city of Madrid!
Di Maria should have done better at the back post… hit the target!!!
Oh - DiMaria could have killed off the tie there. Whiffed the shot well over the bar.
Hiya, mate - great to have you on board. It's been Bayern with the usual boring tiki taka style possession but no real chances. Real have been hitting them on the break with devastating speed. Should be 3-0 up.
I wouldn't Pep at OT because of the danmn Tiki taka
Exactly - he'd bore you to death with it.
I reckon that if you're going Continental then Klopp is your man.
Ronaldo will score this evening - you can feel it.
Half time as Real take their lead to half
Will there be an all Spanish Final in Iberia?
Half time whistle goes - 1-0 Real.
Will Pep try to change things at the half - he needs to but might be stubborn about it.
What about Real v. Chelski?
Sounds like Van G is the favorite
I don't know much about him
The negatives are that he is 62 and he won't join until Holland have been knocked out of the Cup
I don't want Chelsea to make it
I used to always want English clubs but Chelsea will just sit back and park the bus.. just like against Barca and Bayern when they won it!
Did you see Januzaj is ready to play for Belgium and wants to go to the WC
Second half underway
Real gets us underway in the second half.
Van Gaal? I don't know about that one.
Pepe is knobbled there by Robben and he's down for the count. Looks like he'll have to come off.
Van Gaal is odds on favorite
Don't know about that. Moyesy was the best choice for you lot. You just needed to be patient for a season as you were with Fergie.
Real are noticeably trying to press higher at the start of the second half.
Waldo is complaining about Carvajal's rolling around there time wasting.
Moyes was too negative
I was on his side at first but he lost ALL of my support
Fergie left behind a big mess.
Isco is getting close to a second yellow now. Robben earns a free kick.
Skippy is not amused by Webby calling back that foul instead of playing an advantage.
No he didn't
The won the league by ELEVEN POINTS!!!
I know they weren't that good but not a THIRTY point swing!
Half an hour left and still Pep hasn't released Thomas Muller. What gives?
That was the last stand of an aging side. Fergie knew that he didn't have it in him to build another side so he buggered off.
They were better than what Fergie inherited
The crossing in modern football is atrocious… bring back Coppell
Decent effort from Ronny parried away for a corner
Ribbery off for Gotze
Pepe down twice inside a minute
Coming off for Varane
Bale coming on for Ronaldo!
Ronny coming off an injury
Bale suffering from the flu
Just wide by Mueller
Bale runs down the left… cross cut out
The crossing is horrible
Gotze with a great chance but saved by el Captaino
I'm back after a student conference. Pep will be happier now than he was at half time. 1-0 is not an insurmountable deficit to come back from in the Allianz next week.
Still no real sign of entertainment
Muller looks like he is brought down in the 91st minute
Webb didn't give it
I don't think it was
Alonzo challenged for the ball and got it
I hate the win at all costs… I want to be entertained… Liverpool have done that this season
I am man enough to say it
Muller wanted a penalty. Nothing doing from Webby.
Game over
Real were about to go down and writhe on the ground but the whistle blew
I am becoming a little cynical
And that's that - Real take this one by a 1-0 margin. We'll be back here next Tuesday to see if Bayern can come back.
I won't be around on Saturday
I will be in Cortland and then Binghamton for Tom's spring season tourney
I'll be around for Sunday
