Midweek Footie Madness!
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to work, along comes another full slate of Premiership and Championship fixtures. Yesterday saw a bounce back for Arsenal and Leeds and a tumble for Spurs. Today's marquee fixture is probably Chelski's visit with Everton. Join me from 2:45pm if you're skiving.

Hiya, chaps - I'm back from a tedious committee meeting and ready for some midweek footie madness. I should be around for at least the first half of the Chelski v. Toffees encounter.
The team news out of the Bridge this afternoon:
Chelski - Cech, Ivanovic, Zouma, Azpi, Ramires, Matic, Cuadrado, Willian, Hazard, Remy. Subs: Felipe Luis, Fabregas, Ake, Drogs, Courtois, Cahill, Loftus-Charles.
Everton - Timmy, Coleman, STones, Jags, Oviedo, Besic, Barry, Lennon, Naismith, Barkley, Chunk. Subs: Joel, Gibson, Kone, Mirallas, McCarthy, Garbutt, Alcaraz.
Starting line-ups at Old Trafford:
United - Twilight, McNair, Jones, Evans, Rojo, Blind, Roon, Jan, di Maria, RVP, Falcao.
Burnley - Heaton, Trippier, Keane, Shackell, Mee, Kightly, Arfield, Jones, Boyd, Barnes, Ings.
Isn't that exactly the same side that underwhelmed at Upton Park at the weekend?
I've got a lovely link up through a new site I've come across - FreeFootball.ws.
In the other matches in the Premiership today, Soton host West Ham, Citeh visit Stoke City, Palace and Newcastle clash, and in the late one WBA welcome Swansea.
Chris Smalling has opened the scoring for United against Burnley tonight.
First look at Cuadrado there. Seems very direct, went for goal from an acute angle. Just wide.
That Chris Smalling goal moves United up to third, a point ahead of Soton in fourth and two ahead of Arsenal in fifth.
Good afternoon, Bob. I should be around for the second half. Great news about United.
BLOODY HELL!!! Burnley have tied it up. Now they have a corner. And then Another
Breaking news this afternoon. Aston Villa have parted company with Paul Lambert. He was an LOB favorite for the sack race this season but was just edged out by the likes of Neil Warnock, Harry Redknapp and perhaps Nigel Pearson.
Afternoon, MUR - good to have you on board.
United struggle to clear , including a vertical clearance. Then Danny Ings blasts well over.
Cheers mate. Glad to join you.
Lambert was my pick. I'm surprised he lasted that long. There was no sign of Villa's next point or goal coming any time soon.
Danny Ings with that equalizer for Burnley. It moves them up one place to 18th.
Burnley in all gray. A return to OT for Burnley Keeper , Tom Heaton, who never played a first team match for United.
Reminds me of the old gag:
A guy goes to a yard sale and sees a pair of goals on sale. He asks the seller, "Where did those come from?"
He responds - "They weren't using them down at Villa Park (or insert whichever club is struggling to score goals at the moment)."
Boom boom!
Gary Neville to become the next Villa manager?
BOOM BOOM ! How hilarious.
Isn't grey the bogey color for United? I seem to remember that from a Fergie presser after a loss to when United were wearing grey.
Danny Blind is down as Burnely win a corner
Correct. I think it was a 6-3 loss to the Saints at the Dell in the naughties.
Michael Kightly is booked for a cynical trip on Di Maria on a United break off the Burnley corner.
Burnley getting crafty with the kit choices.
In the Championship, we could use a win for Forest against Wigan. Wigan and Blackpool are in danger of getting cut adrift from the rest of the relegation pack, from Millwall on 30 up to us on 35 points.
This Chelsea match has been a real bore. Everton doing a nice job snuffing out any chances.
I recorded the Chelsea match. I wonder if it's even worth watching
Four minutes of stoppage time, primarily do to the injury to Blind. I could see that happening
That's half-time, then. 0-0 at the Bridge.
Ander Herrera came on in place of Blind.
I'm sure your hoping for a massive win vs the Evil Lions on Saturday
Not really mate. Stoke and Citeh are at 1-1 suddenly with two quick goals from Aguero and Crouchie.
United take a short corner and
WAY HAY!!! SMALLING AT THE DOUBLE AS HE HEADS IN A GREAT CROSS FROM DI MARIA.
2-1 United
UWS will think I'm joking when he sees that Smalling scored twice and that Di Maria put in a great cross.
So, United lead Burnley 2-1 at the half thanks to a brace from Smalling , of all people.
Chris Smalling - Goal Machine!
I'm back for the start of the second half. May only hang around for a few minutes before hiking home.
The second half is underway from OT
Lovely to see that Forest are 1-0 up over Wigan.
Di Maria crosses straight to Heaton. Not as good as the previous cross.
You don't have a lift home . Sorry mate. It must be a long hike in the frozen tundra.
The Toon are one up Palace thanks to a header from Cisse.
Nearly Desmond at OT, but Kightly had a free header that landed in Row M. Phew!
Wahey! Forest are 2-0 up!
Still 0-0 in half the Prem matches played today as a corner from Trippier is cleared
well wide by Rojo, the not so mighty red.
Great news. A Millwall loss on Saturday will be great news.
Celtic are two up at Partick Thistle in a Glasgow Derby. A win would put them three points ahead of Aberdeen with a game in hand.,
Ben Mee booked for obstruction on Di Maria
James Milner has added a second for Citeh now, which will chip away at Chelski's lead at the top. Only five points now separate the sides.
Heaton does well to hold on to a deflected effort from Jan
I guess there's still hope for me in the PPP.
I'm off home now, mate. Enjoy the rest of the matches.
If the Toffees win then Citeh will have taken a Chunk out of Chelsea's lead.
Cheers mate. Have a safe trip home. It was great chatting. I hope to do the same this weekend.
Roon booked for an unnecessary and stupid block
United cheaply concede possession in their half, but thankfully a deflected effort from Kightly went straight to Twighlight.
I guess things have to even out. After a nine goal thriller at Goodison earlier this season, it's 0-0 at the Bridge between Chelsea and Everton with three fourths of the match played.
A useless long range effort from Di Maria. well wide.
Scott Arfield booked for a rugby tackle on Herrera. Roon needs to let Kevin Friend do his job even if he is a foe.
Now Falcao goes in to the book. Kind of harsh. He goes up for a header and his momentum took him into the player. A foul, but nothing malicious. Falcao complains and Kevin Friend calls Roon over to diffuse the situation. Now Roon has a talk with Falcao , trying to calm him down
Trippier was injured on that challenge and is off for treatment.
Citeh now 1-3 up at the Brittania . Bob will not be pleased as Aguero has a brace , scoring from the spot. The penalty was due to a foul by Geoff Cameron on David Silva.
A second United substitution as James Wilson is on for Falcao. A decent idea as Falcao had been booked and was perhaps not in the right frame of mind to continue
Nasri has now put Citeh 1-4 up at the Brittania. Brown Ideye has given the Baggies the lead vs the Swans.
Tripper heads out a cross from Di Maria for a corner that was on a United break
Bob will be delighted that Forest are now three up vs Wigan. Henri Lansbury with the goal
Celtic are three up at partick Thistle in the Glasgow Derby.
RVP put United 3-1 up from the spot after Scott Arfield tripped Di Maria in the box. That should seal the victory for United.
Bob will not be pleased to see Sam Vokes coming on for Michael Kightly . I'm sure Bob will be surprised to see him appearing in a Prem match
Frazier Campbell, the former United player, ties it up for Palace vs the Toon. Visiting fans will not be pleased that a former Black Cat has scored.
Di Maria has a close range effort pushed away by Heaton, then Jan has the rebound cleared off the line.
BUGGER!!! Willian gives Chelsea an 89th minute lead vs the Toffees. I think Chelsea won this fixture 1-0 last season with the winner at a similar time.
Four minutes of stoppage time at OT.
Berahino puts the Baggies two up vs the Swans.
Lukas Jutkiewicz is on for Ashley Barnes. what's the point with about a minute remaining. Too late to salvage anything from this match
Celtic have won 0-3 at Partick Thistle.
Chelsea have defeated the Toffees 1-0 thanks to that late winner.
Kevin Friend blows the final whistle as United run out comfortable winners
It finished 0-0 between the Saints and the Hammers at St. May's
NBC is n ow off to Selhurst Park as it's 1-1 between Palace and the Toon with seven minutes plus stoppage time remaining
Citeh have won 1-4 at the Brittania , but don't cut into Chelsea's lead.
Paul Dumitt is on for Remy Cabella as yet another team wears an all gray change strip.
Alan Pardew is facing the Toon for the first time since he left them
A corner is given to Palace, but that looked a hand ball on Janmaat just outside the box. Tim Krul superbly tips a header from Hangelaand off the corner around the post. An Acrobatic save. Krul catches the next corner.
That was Krul on Palace , whop thought they had a late lead and Pardew , who would lover a victory against the Toon.
Bob will be delighted that Forest have thrashed Wigan 3-0.
Riviere is on for Ayoze as there are three minutes of stoppage time.
Paul Dummett is down, rolling around on the turf.
It's over at Selhurst Park as it finishes 1-1.
Chelsea maintain their eight point lead over Citeh while United move up to third, a point ahead of then Saints and two points ahead of the Gunners
At the other end of the table , the Baggies move up two places, but are now four points clear of the drop zone.
That's it for me. I hope to chat with everyone this weekend during the Fifth Round of the FA Cup. CHEERS!
