Morning, mate - thanks for getting us going this morning with an excellent post.
They're off from The Hawthorns .
The team news out of the Hawthorns today:
West Bromwich Albion
Myhill; Dawson, McAuley, Olsson, Brunt; McManaman, Morrison, Fletcher (c), Yacob, McClean; Rondon. Subs: Rose, Chester, Lescott, Gardner, Gnabry, Anichebe, Lambert.
Chelsea
Courtois; Ivanovic, Zouma, Terry (c), Azpilicueta; Matic, Fabregas; Pedro, Willian, Hazard; Diego Costa. Subs: Begovic, Cahill, Mikel, Loftus-Cheek, Traore, Remy, Falcao.
Referee: Mark Clattenburg (Co. Durham)
Cheers mate. It's great top have the pleasure of your company.
It was stated that Little Joe Blue has lost his previous two meetings to Pubis
A quick start from the Albion in rotten conditions. I think I notice the floodlights on from the off.
An early attack for the Baggies and Courtois did well to block from Rondon from close range then Costa shoots wide with just Myhill to beat
Oh - Diego Costa had a big chance there as he worked an opening in the box. Sliced his shot well wide.
Nasty by Zouma on Jim Morrison. He should have been booked. I guess he's not a Doors fan
Gary Cahill was caught by Begovic in last week's match and has had to wear a Phantom mask in training all week. So, he's gotten a rest replaced by Curt Zouma.
I reckon that Zouma just wanted to "break on through to the other side" of Morrison's leg there. Nasty.
It looks like Zouma is in for Cahill. Pedro makes his Chelsea debut while Rondon does for the Baggies, becoming the first Venezuelan to play in the Prem
BOOM BOOM! and OUCH!
Where did Rondon come from - I've never heard of him before.
Jose will be looking for revenge after that 4-0 thrashing in May where his side were given an old fashioned thrashing despite his lame excuses.
I think he was just signed from some Russian club.
Oh - great run from Hazard and then a dangerous cross that no one met. That's the problem with playing only one striker, Jose.
Spot on, mate. He signed for the Baggies for £12 million from Zenit.
Rondon is flagged offside.
Penalty to WBA!!!!
Matic upended McManaman and Clattenberg pointed to the spot!
Morrison steps up and.....
It's saved by Courtois!
Horrible penalty from the Doors man, straight at the keeper. He must have had his mind on the LA Woman.
PENALTY BAGGIES AS MATIC TRIPPED MACMANAMAN AND A POOR PENALTY BY JIM MORRISON AS COURTOIS KICKS THE PENALTY OVER WITH HIS LEG.
What a let-off for Chelski. But they're certainly in a match today. The Baggies are not just going to roll over for the current champions.
Either that or he was tripping on something. It was blasted down the middle. as though his brain is fried.
It's similar to the meeting in May when Chelsea were thrashed.
Some extended possession for Chelski but to no end. Are they Barca in disguise?
Jose was shaking his head , but it was an obvious penalty
Magic again dives in on McManaman and this time he picks up a yellow. Shouldn't that be his second yellow?
Matic is booked for another foul on Macmanaman . It could be for persistent fouling
And yet another free kick - Hazard in on McManaman who must be feeling it at this point.
Now Hazard fouls Macmanaman
Oh - Dawson should have scored there - free header from Morrison's delivery.
A great fee kick from Jim Morrison is headed inches over by Craig Dawson
Jose can't be happy - I wouldn't be surprised if he made an early change. Falcao is apparently warming up. Not sure that's the change I'd make.
Matic wasn't booked for the penalty probably because it wasn't a cynical trip and it didn't prevent a goal scoring opportunity. That is my guess.
Wow - Peter Drury mentions that Chelski would be the bottom of the Premiership if the penalty had gone in.
GOAL! Pedro on his debut with the lead for Chelski!
GOAL !!!! PEDRO GIVES CHELSEA THE LEAD ON HIS DEBUT
Lovely little one-two with Hazard and then the Barca man benefited from a deflection off Jonas Olsson. It just drifted in the near post by Myhill.
pEDRO PLAYED A NICE ONE TWO WOITH hAZARD THEN SCORED WOITH THE help of a deflection off of Olsson, not one of the twins.
Cheeky chant from the Blues in the crowd - "Are you watching, Manchester?"
That goal was really against the run of play and might knock the stuffing out of the Baggies resolve.
The rain continues to pelt down as the corner comes in and is cleared out again. What will Pedro make of these conditions?
I agree. I had a feeling this would happen after the missed penalty. That usually happens when you don't take your chances at this level./
This one is far from over, though. I could definitely see WBA getting it back and really putting Chelski under pressure.
I think Pedro is used to this as the Rain in Spain falls mainly on the Plain. I think he ran into these conditions in matches in Northern Spain during the winter months.
Nasty chop by Morrison and Fabregas wanted him booked.
I'm glad to see that you get your meteorological information from "My Fair Lady," mate.
A complete contrast in conditions as it was warm yesterday and today it is a downpour. I guess scheduling is everything as one day can make a huge difference
Cheers mate. It will help Pedro adapt.
Chelski fans now mocking the WBA faithful, chanting that they're never sing that they're champions of England.
I did some anoraking and saw that Rondon scored 20 goals for Zenit last season. He played for Rubin Kazan the two previous seasons and had played a few seasons for smaller La Liga clubs prior to that
GOAL !!! CHELSKI GO TWO UP ON A TEXTBOOK BREAK OFF A BAGGIES CORNER WITH A CLOSE RANGE TAP IN BY COSTA
GOAL! Chelski break quickly and Diego Costa turns in a shot by Pedro!
0-2!
It was actually a decent corner from Chris Brunt . It was headed away to Hazard , who found Willian down the left. His long diagonal found Pedro, whose cross was diverted in by Costa fifteen seconds after the corner from Brunt.
Myhill made a decent save.
what an impact Pedro has made.A goal and an assist half an hour into his debut. He looks to be a great signing
GOAL !!! JIM MORRISON PULLS ONE BACK FOR THE BAGGIES WITH A GREAT FINISH. THAT MAKES UP FOR THE MISSED PENALTY
GOAL! WBA have one back through Morrison, making up for his penalty miss.
Rondon did so well to keep that cross in acrobatically and Morrison just had to keep his shot down through the crowd.
1-2!
Now Chelsea have a free kick and it's whipped in by Fab as the Baggies just prevent a corner.
If Pedro has had an impact for Chelsea then the same can be said of Rondon , who has an assist against one of the top teams in the league. He has had some good touches and looks to be a good signing.
The goal was due to Chelsea gifting possession deep in their half. A long possession followed and a cross by James MacLean was hooked back at the far post by Rondon to Jim Morrison to the edge of the box, where he scored with a great finish to show that the doors are not closed.
This match is still wide open - it's been a fascinating encounter so far.
GOAL !!!!AZPI PUTS CHELSEA 1-3 AHEAD WITH A DEFLECTED FINISH
GOAL! Chelski have their two-goal cushion back as Azpi knocks home a loose ball in the WBA area.
1-3!
Costa became provider as he chested down a scooped pass from Fab to Azpi , who scored with a deflected finish that wrong footed Myhill.
That made up for that earlier miss by Willian after Pedro laid it on a plate for him after he went past two defenders.I think the goal was the first chance where Pedro was not involved.
Two minutes of stoppage time as a free kick from Fab is cleared
The big match in Scotland is in the Championship, not the Prem as Rangers lead Hibs 1-0 in the second half.
Chelsea lead 1-3 at the end of a really entertaining half . Pedro has been the main difference between the two sides.
Rangers have defeated Hibs 1-0 to move to the top of the Scots Championship, ahead of Queen of the South on GD as both teams have a 100% record. Hibs are in a lowly 6th place.
The second half is underway from a rainy West Midlands
We're back on at the Hawthorn
Brunt wins a corner off of Pedro > Chelsea scored off their last corner
It's cleared . Now Chelsea on the attack, but the Baggies have players back
I'd love to see the Baggies get another one back and put the wind up Mourinho.
Jon Champion with a great piece of trivia as the first half was only the second time that three Spaniards scored for the same team in a match.
I second that
Pedro shot from the free kick is double deflected out for a corner.
James McLean is none too pleased as he's called for a foul on Hazard as he nearly took him out , then Pedro has a shot deflected for a corner.
Ivanovic is called for a foul on the corner.
Both skippers are called up by Clattenburg after a dispute between Yacoub and Costa. The Argie is winding up the Brazi born Spaniard
YAY!!!!!!!!
John Terry is sent off here! The foul seemed outside the box so it probably won't be a penalty but Chelski are down to ten men for the second time this season!
JT us sent off for his second yellow for a foul from behind on Rondon. It was outside the box, but there didn't seem much in it.
Now, then, JT is very petulantly walking off in a huff. Will he be replaced by Gary Cahill? No acknowledgement from Jose.
Chelsea will need to hang on as it was a nice long ball from Brunt. A defensive change as Cahill is on for willian
The Free from Rondon is off the wall for a corner.
a soft effort from Brunt is easily saved by Courtois.
Brunt tries a pop and it's deflected into Courtois's hands. WBA need a goal soon to put pressure on ten-man Chelski.
Olsson fouls Costa just outside the D
Myhill does well to push out the free kick from Matic
If anyone can hold on with ten men then it is Chelsea.
GOAL! There's the goal that I was looking for!
It's that man Jim Morrison again! Great back header into the top of the net.
Game on at the Hawthorns!
GOAL !!!! A NICE CROSS FROM MACMANAMAN AND A CHEEKY LOOPING HEADER FROM JIM MORRISON THAT FOOLED COURTOIS. GAME ON AS IT'S NOW 2-3.
Rickie Lambert is on for the hot headed McLean and why not as the Baggies need a goal.
Oh - Costa at the back post with a sweet drive, just wide of the post.
Costa misses a great chance for Chelsea as he shoots into the side netting with just Myhill to beat. Will chelsea rue that missed chance?
Costa found Pedro and his cross found Costa. Pedro has been the focal point of the Chelsea attacks today
Yeah - Pedro and Costa have developed a nice relationship already.
Clumsy by Matiuc on Rondon as he could have seen a second yellow. Azpi concedes a corner.
The corner is headed away by the first man then Rondon shoots just wide.
Applause for the two Hughes of the Chelsea medical staff as Ivanovic is down for treatment.
Matic should have followed his skipper in for an early bath, which he might have enjoyed on a day like this. It's been appalling weather in Brum.
Ivanovic is back up as if nothing happened , which makes one wonder if he was truly injured
Chelsea is not on a high on the highest league ground in England.
OH!!!! inches wide by MacManaman as the ball broke to Lambert and he found Mcca down the left. He turned Ivanovic and was inches wide from tying it up.
a clumsy foul by Zouma on Rondon.
a long range effort is well over by Craig Dawson. It must have taken a nick as a corner is given
Courtois catches the corner from Brunt.
Costa had a half-chance but the Baggies defense put him off.
Now Diego Costa Lot shoots over after getting a nice long ball and turning two defenders. That's his last kick in anger as he's replaced by Falcao.
And that's his last action of the afternoon. Falcao on for him.
Gnabry , on loan from the Gunners , is on for Macmanaman. I don't get that change.
Steve Holland listing to Little Joe Blue. It's all Dutch to him.
The Baggies need a goal and Gnabry can be threatening at times.
Oh - Falcao came in on a Pedro slide rule pass but whiffed it well wide. Poor from the ex-Red Devil.
Falcao shoots well wide as Fab found Pedro with a diagional pass and his pass was shot well wide by Falcao
This should be a thrilling last ten minutes - the Baggies look well up for it.
JT gets a good deal as he now has a three week vacation due to a combination of the sending off and the international break. A calculated move?>
Gnabry shoots well wide after some trickery to set up the chance.
Are there any matches next weekend?
Obi Wan on, which makes sense with Chelsea trying to preserve the lead a man down on the road.
Yes. Next weekend is the last weekend before the break. Leeds have a noon kickoff at Pride Park on Saturday
Pedro comes off for a break - Obi Wan Kenobi in his place.
Obi Wanis on for Pedro as Chelsea attempt to shut the door, much to the disdain of Jim Morrison.
Right - you mentioned that. Nice one.
Cheers mate. Didn't he look more like Toni Morrison when he missed that spot kick?
Gnabry seems a wee bit greedy in this position. He could have dished off to teammates a couple of times already but went for goal.
Hazard misses a great chance to put this match away as he received a mice pass from Matic
Chris Brunt tries a pop and it's over.
Craig Gardener is on for Jim Morrison.
Hazard earns himself a cheap free kick to tick some seconds off the clock.
Will Chelsea players have a celebratory drink after the match? Obi Wan suggests some ale, such as an Alec Guiness.
Into five minutes of stoppage time now.
MacAuley tackles Facao for a corner as there are five minutes of stoppage time.
They'll need to celebrate their first win of the season. But this one has been a struggle. They haven't brushed WBA aside the way that Citeh did on the opening weekend.
The sun is out for the first time this match
I agree. Chelsea definitely have some holes ion this side. Also, strange as it may seem, the Baggies stay in there drop zone despite a brave peroformance.
Oh - that was a chance for Rondon late on.
Courtois blocks from Rondon for a corner off a cross from Brunt that was headed down by Lambert. Olsson headed off the top of the net from the corner.
Courtois does well to catch a cross from Yacoub in traffic.
It's over as Chelsea win a tough one 2-3 at the Hawthorns for their first win of the season.
That was indeed a very tough-fought win for the Blues. But they'll be happy to get their first three points on the board. Chelsea have bounced back up to 9th on the strength of that win.
Now then, we're on to the late one. Here's the team news out of Goodison Park:
Everton: Howard; Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Galloway; McCarthy, Barry; Kone, Barkley, Cleverley; Lukaku. Subs: Robles, Mirallas, Naismith, Besic, Deulofeu, Osman, Browning.
Man City: Hart; Sagna, Kompany, Mangala, Kolarov; Toure, Fernandinho; Jesus Navas, Silva, Sterling; Aguero. Subs: Nasri, Caballero, Bony, Delph, Demichelis, Denayer, Iheanacho.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)
Everton and Citeh in the tunnel at Goodison preparing to walk out to the strains of "Z Cars."
I'm back for the late one between Everton and Citeh. Watford vs the Saints is a late match too.
They're off from Goodison Park
And we're away at Goodison Park. Citeh are the last side with a perfect record to protect in the Premiership. Everton meanwhile had a poor opening weekend draw followed by a good win last Saturday.
Timmy does well to block a close range effort from Aguero.
There's something going on behind the stands now - a medic has been called to carry out a supporter who seems to be in trouble. The game has been held up momentarily while that's happening.
Something is going on behind the goal because the ambulatory people are out
A waste as the corner from Silva is out for a goal kick
I have the match from Vicarage Road on a link
It's raining on Merseyside , but sunny in Hetfordshire.
Raheem Sterling is predictably getting a rough ride from the Everton faithful.
Everton are passing the ball crisply in midfield, Barkley the chief conductor, but they can’t come up with a telling final ball.
Terrific save by Timmy there, denying my GBB Sergio Aguero. Classic Man Citeh move down the right.
A kick save by Timmy from Aguero off a pass from Navas, who played a one two with iSlva
Clever Boy wins a corner for the Toffees.
Oh - Lukaku did some sterling work saving a ball against Kompany. But then Clev ruined it with a horrible cross.
In the other match, all the early pressure is from the Hornets , but without getting a shot off.
The corner from Barkley is headed away while a Saints player is down as there is a lengthy stoppage
Play resumes at Vicarage Road.
The Saints are a man down as their new signing gets bandaged.
Decent strike from David Silva, smothered by Timmy.
Oh - Sterling should have had his first goal for Citeh there. Left peg, mate. Left peg!
A chance for Citeh as Kone was tackled , being too fancy in his own half . Navas passed to Silva and Sterling just failed to make contact at the far post.
The battle between Sterling and Coleman promises to be fascinating. Coleman is snapping away at him whenever Sterling gets the ball, but the City winger is facing up well to the Everton right-back. He got the better of him there and was free in the box.
Navas wins a corner off of Galloway.
It will be an interesting battle to see who really cuts the mustard.
Sizzling drive there from Barkley with his left peg. Hart was solidly behind it.
A contrast as the match in sunny Hertfordshire is being played at a pedestrian pace while the match in rainy Merseyside is at an electric pace.
Kolorov with a wild effort.
Now Mane is down for the Saints, with what appears to be cramp.
Mane is back on and down again. Now he's back up.
The Chunk has a goal disallowed for offside as Kone found Barkley, who found the Chun k , who was half a body length offside.
Shame - The Chunk has it in the net but it's ruled out due to offside.
That's it for Mane, who needs to be helped to the tunnel , looking really dizzy. That's a massive loss for the Saints.
I'm expecting about five minutes of stoppage time at Vicarage Road.
A decent effort from Coleman and not far wide after some Sterling work
Troy Deeney has a rocket of a shot blocked by his own player
The announcer said that The Hornets made a Baker's dozen of signings this summer.Yikes!
Timmy pushes away a near post effort from Sterling and the corner comes to naught as a push is called.
The Hornets still dominating without really threatening
Clever Boy has a pass blocked for a corner.
Jags heads the corner inches over from the edge of the box. hat looks like something from training.
Jags might have done better there with a free header in the area. Well over.
John Stones with a needless foul on Aguero about a foot outside the box.
The free kick is headed out as Citeh maintain possession.
Sagna went down too easily, looking for a penalty.
Galloway is down injured from that challenge.
Aguero and Galloway both down receiving treatment now.
The best chance of the match for the Hornets as Anya got free down the right and Agalho just failed to make contact on a fantastic pass.
Mangala picks up a yellow for a trip on Barkley, and now Everton have a nice free kick opportunity.
Mnagala booked for afoul on Barkley a foot past the D.
Barkley tries a curler but it's well over the mark. Shame.
The free kick from Barkley was always rising as it was well over.
Anya wins a corner off of Yoshida.
