Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Afternoon, MUR - it's a pleasure to join you for this oddly scheduled Premiership fixture. I'm going to look for an NBC Sports link.
The team news for this afternoon's clash:
Aston Villa: Guzan; Bacuna, Richards (c), Clark, Amavi; Veretout, Westwood, Gueye; Sinclair, Ayew, Agbonlahor.
Subs: Bunn, Baker, Hutton, Sánchez, Kozak, Gestede, Richardson.
Manchester United: Romero; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw; Carrick, Schneiderlin; Mata, Memphis, Januzaj; Rooney (c).
Subs: Johnstone, Valencia, McNair, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Young, Hernández.
It looks like all change for LVG today, with Blind, Mata and Jan all coming into the side today. Is he the new Tinkerman?
Good afternoon, Bob. It is oddly scheduled and talking about odd: The headline of the week is Jose bizarrely demoting his medical staff for doing their job. He is becoming the Evil One.
I think those are the only three changes. I would say that there are worse than him.
Villa Park has filled up nicely as the teams file out, with United playing in white shirts and black shorts. Villa are in the usual claret and blue, currently concealed beneath some natty white warm-up tops. Kick off is but seconds away.
They're off from Villa PArk
According to Arlo, there will be up to seven Friday night footie Prem Matches next season. Surely, the TV stations are behind this.
Must be a tv thing. Do the punters really want another evening of the footer? Will any couples ever have sex again? What will happen to the population of Britain?!
LOL, mate. They will , but they will have to be quickies. I do agree that it's too many evenings and it's starting to get out of hand.
Most definitely - I'm newly married, for goodness sake!
United are unbeaten in their last twenty visits to Villa Park. The longest streak in English top flight history.
We will be at work for most of the Friday matches and will have yet another match to DVR.
Both teams had 1-0 wins last weekend and both were unconvincing.
Micah Richards with a hefty foul on Schneiderlin diagonally outside the box.
Memphis takes and it eludes everyone. It bounces off the ground then back up and Schneiderlin heads over despite being wide open at the far post. The best chance of the match up to this pint.
They both seem unconvincing tonight as well.
United are starting to take control. Time for a United goal.
Brad Guzan does well to come out and block from Memphis off a poor Villa clearance.
Memphis has a shot blocked for a corner.
A cross from Jan was just too high for Memphis to make contact.
GOAL! Jan giives United the lead with a deflected that went in off the inside of the post.
Wahay! Just what you and this match needed. You were definitely starting to turn the screw. Depay has been the best player on the pitch.
A great build up then a slide rule pass from Mata to Jan, who turned Micah Richards and scored with the deflected finish.
On the replay that was a bit jammy. A big deflection off Clark carried it past Guzan and inside the right post. But they all count.
0-1 United!
We are worth the lead because we have controlled the match the last few minutes.
Jan has celebrated that strike by engaging in a kicking contest with Veretout. Lucky to get away with that one.
One touch too many for Jan as he should have shot
Will the medical staff be blamed for that or is that Jose's domain?
Amadou wins a corner off Smalling after Mata had been tackled Richards heads over from the corner and could have won a penalty after being held by Darmian.
A minute of stoppage time.
United are one up at the half.
I'm still not sure what the fuss is between Jose and the medical staff. Surely Hazard just picked up a knock, right?
I'm back for the second half . United still one up.
Into the second half now and United are looking fairly comfortable with this lead. UWS won't be impressed by the flair of the performance but if they hold out United will have two wins on the trot, one against top ten rivals and another away from home.
That is correct. They will need to call us one nil to the United.
Scott Sinclair is replaced by the praying Rudy Gestedde, who scored the winner off the bench at Dean Court on Staurday
The answer to your question is that Jose didn't want the medical staff on because Chelsea were down a man and were down two hen Hazard went off for treatment. The medical staff had no choice as Michael Oliver waived them on . I'm not sure what Jose's beef is.
Pig Stick is on for Carrick and Luke Shaw is fortunate not to be booked for obstruction on Agbon.
Herrera wins a corner off of Amavi.
What do you make of those changes? Herrera on as well for goalscorer Jan.
Guzan easily catches the corner.
They're mind numbing defensive moves and a sign that LVG wants to hang on to a 0-1 lead rather than wanting to win in style.
Bacuna heads away a deflected cross from Mata for a corner after Mata initially won the ball , then he won it back. The short corner eventually leads to another.
Looks like it to me, as well. It's the Jose way for LVG today.
Guzan punches away the next corner then Bacuna clears.
Has Romero had a save to make today? He could have gone off for a walk with the dog and a pint in the pub this evening.
Jordan Ayew fouls Luke Shaw just outside the box after Bacuna conceded possession.
Memphis with a free kick that nearly clears Villa Park. Really awful.
What about Wayne gorgeous new thatch? It looks like he's spent the summer getting fresh plugs in.
He'll want that one back for sure.
Agreed. Not a save a save for Cesar Romero. He should have brought a deck chair and he definitely could have had a shandy or two.
Jordan Ayew is the first player of the night booked as he's booked for diving. Dad will not feel proud about that.
I haven't really noticed Wayne, but you could easily be describing Micah Richards.
Memphis should have had his first United goal and put the match to bed as he shot just wide with just Guzan to beat. It all started when Mata dispossessed Jordan Ayew/
Appalling dive there from Ayew.
Herrera is booked for a pull back.
Looks as if you're the likelier of the two to score on the break as Villa press their claim.
Mata has looked particularly good tonight.
Fortunately , Villa have as much of a cutting edge as a broken pair of scissors and Gestede has shown he 's not used to playing in the Prem.
Agreed . Mata has been the MOTM although the remaining players haven't set the bar very high.
Decent save by Guzan from Memphis with a shot from about 25 yards out/
Carlos Sanchez is on for Veretout.
It hasn't been a five star performance, but we have been the better team.
Bacuna wins a corner off of Shaw.
Not five star, no, and UWS won't be pleased because he'll have expected a five goal rout with a hat-trick of overhead kicks from Memphis. But two wins in two at a time when the biggies seem to be faltering ain't half bad.
A chorus for Yashley on his return to Villa Park as he's on for Memphis.
Yes. It is a decent start for one nil to the United.
I'm off home, mate. Cheerio!
Wouldn't he want some acrobatic flips while the goals were being scored or at least some circus in conjuction with the goals.
Cheers mate. Have great day. I look forward to chatting with you early in the morning./
Darmian was booked for a foul on Amavi.
Three minutes of stoppage time.Gana is booked for a nasty foul on Pig Stick.
It's over and it's one nil to the United at Villa Park as they start with two wins in their first two matches, both by one nil margins.
United are undefeated in twenty at Villa Park. That's the longest streak in the top flight in the history of English footie.
That's it for me. I'll be around early in the morning . Cheers!
Well done, mate!
BLOODY USELESS!!!
