Sunday Morning Football as we Head Into the International Break
It's a triple header of sorts as we head into the International Break. It starts with newly promoted Cardiff City , who have yet to score a goal vs the Gunners. The late ones are Burnley vs United where both teams have made a surprisingly poor start. The one not being televised is is the Hornets vs the Spuds where the winner could be top of the table headed into the break. Join me for all the action.

Morning, MUR - thanks for getting us started with an excellent post. I'm looking forward to seeing the North Londoners this morning. Should be fascinating.
Arsenal finally got their season started last weekend, but, let's be honest, it was West Ham. Today, they're off to football wreckers Cardiff City. Let's hope that they can put the hammer down on Neil Warnock's side. I'd like to see a 0-6 thrashing.
How do you imagine that United will get on at Turf Moor today, mate?
Good morning, Bob. Thanks, Bob. How are you? Burnley is struggling too and had to play an EL match on Thursday. We might win for that reason. Otherwise, I wouldn't see it.
As UWS stated, the Old Firm and Old Farm Derbies are currently being played.Still 0-0 in the old Farm Derby and Celtic one up in the Old Firm Derby in a reunion between Brendan and Stevie G
Morning Boys
Don't know what to think about United's visit to Turf Moor
United always seem to struggle there
Teams in the tunnel at Cardiff:
Cardiff: Etheridge, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Bennett, Arter, Victor Camarasa, Ralls, Hoilett, Reid, Ward.
Subs: Harris, Peltier, Zohore, Paterson, Cunningham, Madine, Brian Murphy.
Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Mustafi, Papastathopoulos, Monreal, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Ramsey, Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette.
Subs: Elneny, Mkhitaryan, Torreira, Lichtsteiner, Holding, Leno, Welbeck.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)
Teams in the tunnel in the Welsh capital
Here they come
Teams in the tunnel in the Welsh capital. Decent atmosphere
Morning, UWS - how are you, mate?
Good morning, UWS. I think United have a chance because Burnley is struggling and they may be tired from their EL match. It is true that United have as poor record here.
I don't see the Old Farm derby on ESPN+
That's surprising
Evil Neil's lads have yet to score a Prem goal despite the great form of goalkeeper, Neil
Despite it being a relegation six pointer that is a surprise.
Again...in depression mode with school starting up
They're off from the Welsh capital.
And we're away. Cardiff fans already whistling every Arsenal touch.
Third day in a row with Jon Champion announcing.
We are off
Cech almost blows it there!!
All four games in NBC this weekend so far... traditional colors vs traditional colors
United will have to change..wonder if the pink will come out today?
An early hard but fair Cardiff challenge. At this rate , Cardiff fans will be out of breath by the half hour mark
An early shaky moment for Petr Cech. How long will he remain in the starting line-up? Arsenal didn’t spend £19m on Bernd Leno for him to be a glorified Rhys Wilmot.
Ipswich take a vital lead at Portman Road
Stiff upper lip, mate.
They will have to do more than be pretty in pink.
Bristol City and Blackburn as begun
That would take them out of the drop zone. Definitely much needed. Daniel Farke about to walk the plank?
YIKES!!!!! Ipswich up to seventeenth. The Canaries out of the drop zone by a goal difference of plus 1
It would be sad to see both East Anglian clubs relegated to L1.
The winners of Bristol City vs Blackburn will be in a playoff spot. Surprising considering Blackburn is newly promoted.
Agreed. I don't see that happening.
As things stand right now, Arsenal are in 11th, largely thanks to their win against the Hammers last week. And Cardiff are 14th.
Another nightmare moment for Cech lets in Harry Arter.
What is happening there
What a chance
What a miss
What a clanger by Cech
Cardiff nearly with their first Prem goal of the season. Cech gifted Harry Arter possession and he shot over with just Cech to beat
I hate all this keeper good with his feet... how about just someone that saves shots...there are ten other players that can use their feet.... bloody Pep and Barca
Ramsey should have scored down the other end too
Ramsey wins a corner on his return to Cardiff then Neil Ehteridge makes a save from Ramsey off the corner and Mustafi shoots the rebound
Agreed, UWS. it should be 1-1
agreed about the keeper. Cech is a good shot stopper and should no better. Great save by Etheridge.
GOAL! Mustafi nods Arsenal into the lead in South Wales!
GOAL !!!!MUSTAFI HEADS IN FROM THE CORNER
Strange stuff inside the Cardiff box by the Bluebirds survive
GOAL.... Arsenal take the lead with a bullet header
Poor marking from Sol Bamaba. Where did he previously play?
Not your typical Arsenal goal there. Good corner over and Mustafi beat his man - Leeds old boy Sol Bamba - and put in a bullet header into the top corner.
0-1 Gunners!
What are the fans singing?
We're winning away
We're winning away
then something... maybe Arsene Wenger
It will be tough for Evil Neil's lads as they have to score for the first time this season to get anything out of this match.
Blackburn take the lead at Ashton Gate
Great close range block by Etheridge from Nacho.
Oh - some chaos in the Cardiff area nearly lets in Arsenal again. They scramble it away but they're looking rattled. Five more goals please, lads!
Just tried to listen to it again... I don't think it is Arsene Wenger
Norwich tie it up at Portman Road
They're up to third place. Surprising since they are newly promoted from L1
I need Aubameyang to score..he's on my fantasy team
I am well behind this weekend but have a lot of players still having to play
Tractor Boys now second from bottom, one point from safety while the Canaries up to 17th
Hoilett, the Canuck, with a cross that would be atrocious even in curling.
Cardiff go close!!
Oh - Ward and then Hoilett both come close. Knock it off!
Bobby Reid with a nice cross that nobody was able to divert in then Junior Hoilett curling a shot wide/.
Bobby Reid just signed from Bristol City, who could sure use his services today
By the way, with that Mustafi goal, Arsenal are up to 9th and Cardiff drop to 16th, only a point off the drop zone.
Nasty by Joe Bennett , who is always good for a card. Free kick from the Gunners version of Hair Bear headed out for a Gunners corner.
Celtic have won the Old Firm Derby 1-0. Brendan defeats Stevie G
I wonder if Daniel Farke is struggling as Canaries boss because the players think he speaks with Farke tongue.
Can hear Evil Neil complain with that distinctive voice of his. Surely, the Gooner must be telling him to shut it.
Nacho booked for a foul, not to match the color of the cheese sauce.
Cardiff lining up a free kick now....
Straight into Cech's arms.
I started watching it yesterday and finishing it up right now
Two Youtube vids, 15 mins long, of United goals of the 70s and two vids of United goals of the 80s.... I want JOSE TO WATCH....THIS IS HOW UNITED ATTACK!!
It wasn't just under Fergie
Rawls more like Lou with that free kick that is basically a pass to Cech. No wonder why Cardiff can't score.
Agreed. Just don't show him United from Dave Sexton's last season in charge. Otherwise, that is outstanding advice.
Jon Champion mentioned that the Emery Board was in charge of Sevilla vs Real on this ground in the UEFA Super Cup a few years ago.
Decent overhead effort there
Bobby Reid over with a bicycle kick as the Gunners failed to clear their lines.
If the Canaries fail to win then Daniel Farke, the Canaries boss, can get on a ship at nearby Felixstowe and be back to Germany in no time at all.
Sokartis contemplating if he's hurt or not
I'd like a second Arsenal goal right about now.
You make my point
Sexton won his last SEVEN games of the season but still got the axe because it wasn't the United Way....it wasn't just Fergie
Socrates with theatrics after Harry Arter barely touched him.Not very philosophical..
The Gazette his the post
Oh - Lacazette hits the Sunday Roast!
I just missed something while reading LAcazette on my phone. I read that he had a shot come off the Sunday Roast and it's Sunday!
That Old Firm loss was Stevie G's first in management
Thanks, UWS. Prior to that winning streak, I think they drew something like 20 out of 35 matches with most being low scoring.
Not reading about any goals in La Cazette. Poor pass on the break.
90th minute at PR
Giggsy in attendance in his hometown. Not sure which Cardiff players are impressing him and he should know all about Ramsey.
Still 1-1 . A late dramatic winner to come up?
Bellerin heads out a cross from La Manga. Does he think he's on holiday?
Both teams here have definite problems in defence. Cardiff’s problem is quality, while Arsenal suffer from a lack of protection and a litany of mistakes.
That's a decent start, considering Rangers have had EL matches as well.
Ends all square down at the Farm
It finishes 1-1 at PR in the Old Farm Derby
Bristol City tie it up vs Blackburn
1-1 seems like a good result for all told.
The Tractor Boys ride their to second from bottom, ahead of the Reading Railroad while the Canaries are in seventeenth. Tractor Boys one point from safety
AT PR yes, but At Ashton Gate , not really beneficial to either side.
What we like to hear. Cardiff City the only club in English senior football without a league goal. Long may it continue.
Luv it!
Would love to see some more Gunners goals.
Clumsy by Bellerin as Cardiff will lineup for one of their usual long set pieces and Harry Arter with a shot nearly across the Severn. A pair of stoppage time minutes
Arter with another poor effort
He's missed two good chance from almost the same place on the field...the shots landed around the same spot too.... ROW Q
Sounds like the locals are starting to get on the player's back. Not good for their confidence.
1-1!!
Cardiff have scored!!!
Bloody hell! Cardiff have scored. Camarasa.
GOAL !!!! THAT IS AS CAMARASA TIES IT UP FOR CARDIFF.
Really poor defending there in the Gunners backline.
HT
Steve will not be pleased
Very sloppy from the Gunners as Xakha Khan gifted possession in midfield . Harry Arter played it out wide to Joe Bennett and his cross was controlled by Camarasa as the Gunners were ball watching and he blasted it past Cech. It's 1-1 at the half./
The teams troop in at 1-1. Arsenal will feel hard done by and should be two or three up but they've been crap at the back.
Second half underway from the Welsh capital.
Spot on with that assessment, Bob. An accurate description.
Junior Hoilett well wide from long range as the Bluebirds attack from the kickoff.
Wonder why the Emery Board paid a ton of money for a goalkeeper then has him sit the bench
another attempt on goal, this time by Ralls, but more like Lou Rawls with that effort.
Back for the second half with another cuppa.
Thanks, mate!
Back all clean for the second half.
A cross from Nacho is headed out for a Gunners corner.
I was reading the comments and was also reading La Cazette about a missed sitter from the Gunners off the corner.
The Gazette muscles himself a chance but fires it over the bar.... would have gone over three goals
Stupid hand ball by Bellerin.A typical long Cardiff free kick and nothing comes of it.
Well done, UWS.
Agreed. Would have been perfect if it was a drop kick
Mustafi almost in for his brace
Xakha Khan will feel like he's on vacation as his cross is headed out by La Manga for a Gunners corner.
Great save by Neil etheridge
The crossing... is so poor... especially watching the vids from days gone by
Wonder if Gareth Southgate is wishing Neil Etheridge opted to play for England instead of the Phillipines.
Aubama has a shot blocked. Then Xakha Khan has a shot deflected over for a corner.
Bristol City have come all the way back and take a 2-1 lead vs Rovers
The French Hair Bear booked for a foul on a Cardiff break that came to naught.
Arsenal's Sideshow Bob goes into the book.
I think City is now up to fifth and as far as I know that's not idle gossip.
Another set piece for Cardiff . Headed away and volleyed wide by Hoilett with finishing that would be great in curling, but not footie.
Goal for the Gooners AND ME!!
GOAL! Aubama pulls one out of the top drawer!
GOAL !!! AUBAMA WITH A SUPERB LONG RANGE EFFORT TO GIVE THE gUNNERS A 1-2 LEAD.
Well done, UWS. Great interplay between the strike partners and didn't Aubama pick out his spot well.
1-2 Arsenal. Let's have some more!
Nice finish
I just read La Cazette and read about a cheeky back heel to assist Aubama after he received a pass from the Beaker. The difference in quality between the two sides was clearly evident
I need Abum to score a hat-trick
Desmond is not welcome at this match. He can head off to Wenbley
hat would be nice for you and Steve. Your GBB?
Clumsy by the Beaker om Joe Bennett. Another long free kick?
Gunners struggle to clear.
Typical long throw from an Evil Neil side. Now Morrison takes another and it results in a corner.
Desmond can stay well away. Cardiff pushing for an equalizer now.
Corner from Ralls out for another. Next one headed out then a shot deflected to Cech
If he's tired he can take the short trip[ across the Severn to the Championship match
Desmond...shocking
Bloody hell - where did Desmond come from?!
GOAL !!! DESMOND AS A LONG FREE KICK IS HEADED ON THEN DANNY WARD WITH A HEADER OFF THE INSIDE OF THE POST.
Twenty minutes left now for the Arsenal to win this one.
Free kick headed on by Morrison then headed in by Danny Ward . A simple old fashioned goal with shocking modern day defending.
United and Arsenal....surviving relegation?
Seriously, two of the big six really struggling... who could take their place?
Junior Hoilett booked for a striker's challenge.
If this continues then it might be a couple of small clubs or someone like the Toffees.
Bellerin wins a corner off of Joe Bennett.
Another Mustafi header, this time fumbled by Etheridge but gathered at the second attempt.
Not sure where the foul was. I agree with the journalist for La Cazette that Harry Arter just fell , but was never fouled. SHould never have been a free kick and Gunners should still be leading.
Line ups have been announced at Turf Moor
United
De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Lindeloff, Shaw, Fellaini, Matic, Pogba, Lingard, Lukaku and Sanchez
Bench
Baiily, Rashford, Martial, Grant, Fred, Young, Herrera
Bristol City go 3-1 up
In the aftermath of that goal, Gunner Sideshow Bob came off to be replaced by Torreira. Not sure that's going to make the difference.
A quarter of an hour remaining and neither side yet to make a substitution.
Oh - chance there for the Gunners.
Fred didn't last long!!
Then a substitution has been made as Bob described Bob.
Goalscorer Camerasa catches Sokratis and goes into the book.
Camarasa booked for a late challenge on Torreira.
Glad to see Fred out of that lineup. He's just another water carrier.
Agreed. He's replaced by Matic.
Spurs make three changes from Old Trafford
Michel Vorm replaces the injured Hugo Lloris in goal, while Danny Rose and Eric Dier drop to the bench to make way for Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez.
Bloody hell - Reed bundles his way through and has a chance on goal. Cardiff pressing here.
No...they both started last week
He is out and replaced by Hair Bear
Nice slo run by Bobby Reid , but his shot easily saved by Cech then Camarasa passes to Ward, whose shot is off target
Hair Bear is a little more attack minded than Fred. Thanks for the clarification. I watched the debacle late in the evening.
The Gazette writes his own headline
3-2 Gunners
WOW!!! I MISSED THAT BUT READ ABOUT A NICE NEAR POST ROCKET OF A GOAL IN LA CAZETTE. NICE PASS FROM TORREIRA.
Lethal finish by The Gazette
Now 2-3 to the Gunners
GOAL! Lacazette roofs one to put Arsenal back in the lead. Now hang on to this lead!
Emery is learning what happens when you play both of your strikers together. They score goals! Duh.
A sign that it's early in the season. Cardiff has scored more goals this match than the entire season combined and has conceded more goals this match than the entire season combined,.
The Gunners 3-2 ahead on goals and Cardiff 3-2 ahead on subs remaining that can come on.
Ozil coming off. I don't even remember him being on the pitch. Welly on for a late run out.
A tired Beaker is replaced by Wellie while Danny Ward is replaced by Ken Zohore.
Now 4-1 to Bristol City
I thought the same thing Bob
From the Beeb
Cardiff 2-2 Arsenal
Neil Warnock and Unai Emery might not agree but this is a terrific advert for the Premier League. Two committed, attacking, teams really going for it now.
Is Jose Mourinho watching?
Other than the build up for the second Gunners goal, he did very little.
Miki on for Aubama now.
Damn.. my player, Abum, coming off...I needed another goal from him
The final roll of the dice from the Emery Board as Miki on for Aubama
And Madine on for Camerasa for Cardiff - straight swap.
Gary Madine on for Cardiff.
A quartet of stoppage time minutes
Oh - Cardiff nearly equalize again!
Cardiff should have scored there!!
Cardiff resume with matches vs Citeh and Chelsea after the break before facing Burnley. Expect them to start October in the drop zone.
Last chance for Cardiff?
I've just noticed that the Arsenal players are wearing "Visit Rwanda" armbands. No thanks!
