Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Thanks Dave.
I can post the squads in a moment. Looks like a batch of B's to me trying to promote their cause. Blue Devil interest up front for Spain with Rodrigo.
Good afternoon, Steve. Glad to help and I'm expecting most teams to treat these as friendlies since friendlies are fairly close to being eliminated
Germany vs Spain is being played at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Stuttgart. A sign of Leeds progress that they have a player starting in a big match
Germany-Trapp;Sule, Rudiger, Can; Kehrer, Gundogan, Kroos, Gosens; Sane, Werner, Draxler -- 3-4-3
Spain-DeGea; Gaya, Torres, the Shorditch Berber, Carvajal; Thiago Alcantara, Biscuits, Fabian, Torres, Rodrigo, Navas -- 4-3-3
Those definitely look like the B teams , especially Germany. This is to be expected until WC qualifying commences.
Didn't realize that eight uncapped players have been named in the Spain squad. Jon Champion gives a mention to Rodrigo of the Championship Champions
They're off from Stuttgart
One match has been played today. In League D Latvia vs Andorra finished 0-0. That will excite Steve
The Kehrer kid impressed me when we were watching PSG. Very composed as you would expect in a German. He's already worth north of 35million Euros.
Latvia vs Andorra is a marquee pairing. Behind a paywall probably.
He's definitely one for the future as opposed to his PSG teammate, Drexler.
Did you see Neymar, Di Maria, and some other PSG player went to Ibiza and lo and behold, all 3 have tested positive for Covid-19?
I heard from nephew about Di Maria, but not the others. I'm guessing they were morons and went to a large crowded party with no social distancing and no mask
Draxler's problem is that he's not as good as his representation is. So when he shows up at Paris, he's just not going to survive that snake-pit and command a first XI spot. He should have watched Rabiot's career because it's a similar fate.
Naughty by Thiago on Gundogan. Kroos takes it short and Goosens crosses straight to De Gea
Werner offside off a through ball from Kroos
That's exactly what they did. Big indoor clubs packed with people. And Neymar spent a week in Brazil before Ibiza too. He may be the super-spreader in this incident. And he's a Bolsonero booster,
Is Rabiot in Serie A. Draxler might want to do the same or go to a mid table Prem team
Dee Gea does well to turn around a header from Kehrer.
The corner from Kroos is headed away
Sadly not surprising from Neymar and just as stupid as the Brazilian president. Both cut from the same mold.
I think Rabiot is still at Juve? Both of those guys have led Arsenal a merry chase and now it's too late to think of trying any more.
Kevin Trapp misjudged a long through ball, then recovered to make a nice slide tackle on Rodrigo
Oh Bob won't like that. Rodrigo muffs up a perfect chance and the Germans go up the other end and DeGea has to stop Draxler's shot.
I think he may be , but as a bench warmer. Haven't seen much of Rabiot recently
The World Cup where Rabiot shined was a long, long time ago.
In the other match in this group, Ukraine takes the lead vs the Swiss
Ukraine's resident hammer with their goal
The three at the back for Germany are gifting chances to Spain. Always a shock when the Germans aren't sturdy at the back.
Great save by De Gea from Sane.
Wow. Sane's shot was vicious and out of no-where. Very unlucky not to beat DeGea.
That shot aside, I can't fathom why Sane went to Munich when Gnabry is in the form of his life.
Tomorrow, Norway vs Austria on ESPNNEWS with Holland vs Poland on TUDN
I'm more interested in Holland Poland, myself.
I'm not sure other than Sane felt his time was up with Citeh. He may have similar problems at Bayern
Free kick from Fabian headed down by Torres and a volley from Biscuits is Trapped by the German keeper
Oh, Biscuits left wide open but finishing is not his strong suit.
In League C, Moldova takes the lead vs Kosovo
In League D , the Pharaohs take take the lead vs Malta
I've seen more giveaways in this match than in any high stakes lottery
Werner leads a German break then shoots horribly wide with just De Gea to beat
For real. Not nearly the quality this should be.
And there's Tim not bothering the goal-mouth. I wonder about him. I've seen him very good and then pretty woeful.
Everything Sane tries is ambitious and hasn't come off. But he's the bright spot in this half.
Malta ties it up at the Pharaohs.
Agreed about Werner. Glad Chelsea signed him instead of one of our teams. Agreed about Sane.
I agree with you. Although these are the reserves I expected better between Germany and Spain
Jesus Navas wins a Spain corner
The Swiss tie it up in the Ukraine
Poor pass from Rodrigo when all he had to do was lay it off for a simple tap in
Rodrigo gets behind the German defense and with just De Gea to beat shoots right at him as we hope he does at OT. It's 0-0 at the half
Looking forward to more interesting play in the second half. That first half was an advertisement for scrapping the Nations League
I just saw Yarmalenko's improvised goal for the Ukes. Very nice.
That was a great goal and so far not a good avert for the NL
My mistake. Rodrigo shot straight at Kevin Trapp, not De Gea
Seventeen year old Ansu Fati on for an international debut for Spain
In League B, Russia takes the lead vs Serbia
I spotted that kid when Barca was annihilated. I didn't realize he was as young as that and question why he was thrown in late in the second half when it was hopeless.
GOAL !!!! WERNER GIVES GERMANY THE LEAD WITH A GREAT FINISH OFF A PASS FROM GOOSENS
FINALLY. A long ball forward and square pass to Werner and bang! Germany 1-0.
Nice long diagonal ball from the back played to Goosens. Nothing wrong with going direct
Sane tackled for a corner off a pass from Werner as he was about to shoot
Sane dwelled a bit too long there. Had he have been quicker, the opportunity was there.
It would be nice to see your target, Kai Havertz get a run out.
Torres wins a corner off of Goosens
Former Toon player, Merino, replacing Biscuits
Kai Havertz would be a great addition to United after signing Donny Van De Beek from Ajax
Nice turn from Rodrigo and a curling effort is inches over, skimming the top of the net.
Close! Rodrigo makes a lot of a nothing ball by turning sharply and nearly scoring. Note to Xhaka, don't let Rodrigo get the ball at the top of the area.
Bulgaria takes the lead vs Ireland
Draxler was fouled and Werner was not offside. Officiating crew not at their best there.
Werner called offside as he forced a good save from De Gea
Sane put through and he lays it off for Werner , who shot into the side netting from narrow angle
Ahhh, Sane should have taken that on, or played a more careful ball into Werner. As it was, a great chance.
Matty Ginter on for Sane
And that's it for Sane. Yogi's had enough of that sort of thing.
Fabian receives a pass from Carvajal then turns a defender and it's well blocked by Kevin Trapp
What a missed opportunity. I was sure you were going for a "Trapp traps that shot," play on words.
Germany Can NOT score on the break as a near post save is made from De Gea
BOOM BOOM ,Steve!
Nice double header on ABC this weekend followed immediately by Texas State vs SMU on ESPN
The Ukes take a 2-1 lead vs the Swiss. The Citeh left back with the goal
Russia goes two up vs Serbia
A shot from Thiago from Just outside the D goes just wide
Long range effort from Toni Kroos comfortably saved by De Gea
I've never rated Can BTW. A L'pool fan I know has lost his patience with me frequently when I used to say that. But I just don't get him at all, either as a league or international player.
Whereas I love Thiago. I think he suffers in the Spanish set up because he doesn't have the expansive freedom that the Spanish style doesn't allow. But at Munich, he's superb.
Can is a decent player, but not spectacular and Thiago definitely is given more freedom at Bayern than with the Spanish national team
Serdar on for Gundogan
And I don't rate Gundogan either. I know what he does, but I've never seen him do it effectively enough. I can't think of a match I've watched where I was left with the idea that he was anything better than adequate.
Malta now leads 1-2 at the Pharaohs.
I like Gundogan better than Can . He's consistent even though not spectacular
Germany with a free kick just outside the Spanish box
Header from Sule tipped over by De Gea off a free kick that was Kroosed in
The one player mentioned by Steve sure CAN argue better than he CAN play
Seventeen year old fatty going down, looking for a penalty. Really poor.
Oscar on for Fabian Ruiz,. Will it be an Oscar winning performance
Serbia pulled it back to 2-1 in Russia, but now Russia leads 3-1
Keiffer Moore gives Wales the lead in Finland. Dan James of United with the assist
Hungary takes the lead in Turkey. That's how you satisfy a hunger and stuff a Turkey
A run and pass from Fatty is cleared by Sule for a Spain corner
Corner headed high and wide by Torres
Werner tackled for a German corner
Much better from Faty. He's so slight that what he's been doing has been really ineffective. But there, he dropped deep and built up a bit of a run that really had the Germans flailing at the space he had just occupied. Now I get what he can do.
Corner that was Kroosed in was headed well over by Rudiger
Wow. Very nice double pun Dave.
The Pharaohs tie it up vs Malta. Now Desmond
Cheers, Steve.
Fatty is an inexperienced seventeen year old and far from the finished product. Will he fill Messi's position at Barca?
A l;ate sub to ruin UWS's day as Werner is Koched off the pitch. A great recipe?
A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time minutes
Robin Koch, who just came on for Werner , also signed by Leeds., from Freiburg. A recipe for success for Leeds
Fatty thought he had tied it up for Spain with a header on his debut, but typical Ramos with a foul as it's disallowed
The Pharaohs take a late 3-2 lead vs Malta
He might. I was just thinking that as a small forward leaning attacker, he certainly has that look to him. But I think that Barca will never again have that kind of success. It's over and inviting Tintin to organize the party is a recipe for real disaster.
Ramos's foul chalked off Fati's goal. What a guy.
Shane Duffy ties it up with a late equalizer for Ireland in Bulgaria. Robby Brady with the assist
Are you saying that Leeds signed a big Koch?
GOAL !!!! SPAIN TIES IT UP LATE WITH A GOAL FROM JOSE GAYA
Cross from Feran Torres headed back and Goya tied it up as it finishes 1-1
There it is. Germany allowed Spain way too much room. But he was miles offside because the German player wasn't on the pitch!!!
Correct Steve. That's who Leeds signed
And that's that. 1-1 at the end.
Agreed. Germany should have won and there was far too much stoppage time
Right. Cheerio until tomorrow, eh? That was fun.
