Morning on the Mersey
A very good Saturday morning, everyone! The Premiership is back after what seemed like an especially long and tedious international break with some preposterous Nations League tosh. And the league is back with a bang - the Merseyside Derby as the lunch-time kickoff. No messing about at all. And this is a Merseyside Derby to fire the imagination, where, for the first time in ages, Everton have a good chance to beat Liverpool. After that, we've got Chelsea v. Soton alongside the other league matches at 10am. Then there is another big, big match on NBC - Man City v. Arsenal. And then we finish up with United against Newcastle v. United. What a day! Join me for all the fun and games.

Morning Bob
I am here for some of today's festivities. I might be missing the 10 o'clocker for walkies
Still annoyed about Peacock. The match at SJP and the 2 of the 3 tomorrow are all on line!
So bring on the Z Cars Theme and welcome the players onto the pitch.
Morning, Dave - welcome!
Z Cars playing....NBC going to commericial!
Let's hope that the free-scoring spirit will continue today. I want goals!
Mostly for the Toffees
And we're away from Goodison Park.
I am surprised this match is at Goodison
I know there was an international break but Everton played at home last time out and Liverpool away
United played at home...and are now away
We are off
Absolutely - I'd love to see the Toffees do over Liverpool today. And why not?
Yeah - I noticed that, too. Leeds are playing their second home match in a row as well, against Wolves on Monday.
VVD with two early fouls...if it wasn't him...would he have been booked?
Everton take a short free kick and create a chance.... for Liverpool
That didn't take long
one nil Liverpool
GOAL! That didn't take long!
Mane roofs it after being fed by Robertson! 0-1!
Commentators saying brilliant goal...it was nice but that's about it
That's Mane's fourth goal of the season in five matches.
His teammate Mo Salah has five goals and Everton's main man DCL has six.
More Liverpool pressure and that Hendo header could have gone anywhere.
Pool almost in again
OW... that would have a been a pen !!
Of course, the commentators want to make controversy
VAR check now for offside on Virgil who was unceremoniously upended by Pickers.
VAR has checked the offside and it is.... could Pickford still be in trouble?
Virgil still feeling the after effects of that challenge.
He seems to be safe.... should it matter that the play had "stopped"
D C-L has space on the right....doens't cross the ball
Looks like VVD is going to be out
Everton finally settling into the match now, as Joe Gomez is getting warmed up.
Virgil still have a wee walk about to see if he had continue. That would be a huge loss for the Reds.
Gomez is coming on for Virgil then. How will that changes things?
Digne with a great cross..... I so miss that type of cross
Oh - great cross over from Digne but DCL just couldn't get over the header.
That's why I love that we're playing with two out and out wide men. Good old fashioned stuff.
Weak shot by DCL....terrible connection
Oh - nice ball over the top from Keane and DCL turned and shot. Adrian able to collect.
CL with a decent shot there.... bad angle tho
Corner
The equalizer!!
Keane with a great header from a PROPER corner!
The goals keep coming
DCL again makes Adrian work from an acute angle. Corner.
And GOAL! Michael Keane rises to equalize!
1-1!
I'm loving it - the pandemic shut-down is definitely meaning more exciting matches and more goals.
Oh - now Salah has a chance but Keane shuts him down.
Except if you're England!!
So far... penalty, Nil, penalty and deflected goal, Nil
Dangerous free kick now for Liverpool.
Free kick to Liverpool
I think the silence of the stadium with the scream made it seem worse
I dont think there was any contact
You're right - it wasn't a great international break for England. Hopefully Gareth learned some things.
TAA with a nice effort....saved by Pickers
Oh - TAA with the strike and Pickers did well to tip it around. Nice save!
Well... we learned he doesn't like, want, trust Grealish
Liverpool with a modern day corner.... doesn't beat the first man..... moronic
Rangers took an early away lead in the Old Firm derby just like in this derby.... Celtic have not equalized as of yet
5Live has the Old Firm derby on
A couple of Everton players down on one knee nursing injuries - Coleman and Richarlison.
Looks like Coleman has a hammy problem...he is being replaced
Coleman has done his hammy and Ben Godfrey is coming on for him.
Thiago hits one just wide
Wider than I first thought
WOW....Pickford takes a GOAL KICK!!!
I almost fell off my chair!
Thiago has a go from distance but it's well wide of the mark.
Mane with another chance....should have buried it
Oh - great football from Liverpool again but Mane screwed the shot wide. Should have hit the target at the very least.
Another nice combination now between Salah and Thiago. Couldn't quite get the final connection on it to beat Pickers.
Oh - good chance there for the Toffees. Ball whipped in and Richarlison wasn't too far away.
Now it's Adrian with a proper goal kick - is it 1980?
Hendo gets shouldered in the face.... he is up now
I don't think it is the 80s with these long kicks...it is pre Pep
Mid Naughties
Mane wins a free kick there and James is yellow carded for the foul.
Rodriguez with a foul and a yellow.... does the card need to be shown there...especially because he's my fantasy player
Rodriguez with a foul and a yellow.... does the card need to be shown there...especially because he's my fantasy player
TAA over the free kick now - whips it in but it's cleared away.
TAA to take another one?
Cleared... twice
Half time in Glasgow
Stevie's men lead 1-0 at Parkhead
James is a good fantasy player to have this season. He's been the difference for Everton IMHO.
Useless "long" throw
Incredible morning with the Mersyside and the Old Firm Derbies on.
I agree... didn't do me any favors with that card...he needs to score for me now
You know how I feel about long throws.
Luckily... I have to go to the loo during half time.... the studio lot will spend the whole time about Pickers being sent off
Again....have no idea why you dislike them so much...it is like a corner!! GET THE BALL IN THE BOX
Half time
That's half-time then. An absorbing first half of the Derby. 1-1. Delicately poised.
Good morning, Bob and Dave. I had a late lie in and woke up just before halftime. Here to join you for the second half
The long throw isn't intention. It's the equivalent of a long punt into the box.
Morning, MUR - I don't blame you - it's the crack of dawn out in South Texas. How's your week been?
We all voted so it's been a good week. Thank you for asking. How was your week?
The second half is underway from Goodison
We're back on for the second half now.
I am back
Come on you Blues
Pickford lucky to be on the pitch. Horrible challenge on Dick Van Dyke
Good Morning David
Welcome
Half volley from Hendo from not to far over
Oh - Hendo had a chance there - but stuck it wide.
Thanks, Dave. How was your week?
Yeah - that was a horrible challenge by Pickers.
I just checked the table. Villa, Foxes, and Gunners fans will want a draw because any of those could be top tomorrow
Oh - great ball in there for DCL. Should have nicked it in.
Nice close range block by Adrian
I should have been flying to the UK this upcoming week!
Kathy and I were flying into Heathrow and then flying to Glasgow for Kathy's niece's wedding. We were then coming back down south to visit the family and also meet some friends to show them around London
Alas.... I'll be sitting on my recliner instead
I did manage to get full refunds from Virgin and Expedia this week. Expedia were a pain in the butt
Nice cross field place by Hummus Rodriguez down the left and pass into the box should have been Digned in by DCL
Rangers double their lead at Parkhead
Sorry about that Dave. That would have been a brilliant vacation. This pandemic has really wreaked havoc and hopefully you and Kathy can go on the vacation in the near future. Glad you got your money back
Two players in the center circle down now: Robertson and Allain.
Yeah - sorry about that delayed trip. Hopefully you can reschedule that for when we're finished with the COVID crisis.
Funny conversation I had on the phone with Virgin Atlantic
I had to give words to correspond with my ticket number
It came to 'T" and the only thing I could thing of was Tottenham!!
I said... couldn't think of anything else...I don't like them!
He said....they had a good result... I said... it was against my team!
He replied...United are my team too, the game after made me feel better...I agreed with him
WOW! Wasn't even aware that the Old Firm Derby was currently being played. Connor Goldson with both goals which would put Rangers four points clear. That hasn't happened in nearly a decade
LUFC Academy Swiss Army knife Jamie Milner coming on to replace Robertson now.
Interesting story. They sound friendlier than our airline companies
Both Rangers and Celtic have won 9 titles in a row but never 10
Celtic are going for 10 this season
That's basically like for like in terms of position
DId you see that United signed Pogba to a contract extension!
WHY... he doesn't want to be at OT... every time he goes away he says how he wants to play in Madrid, Barca, Turin
Bugger off!!
I guess United making it so they would get a bit of money!
I just want him to leave
What a chance from Richie!!!
Had to score that!
OH! Header from Rich Arlison off the post off a superb cross from Hummus Rodriguez
That's too bad - Pogba is a poisonous influence at OT.
I didn't . That's horrible news. Probably because nobody wanted to sign him at his wages so since there are no takers he will become the Ozil of United.
Digne clears for a corer off nice Pool one touch passing
The Rams lost at home to the Hornets last night in the Championship
Leaders Bristol City visit Barnsley and Reading at Boro
I knew abut Celtic winning nine in a row when Jock Stein was in charge. Didn't know about Rangers. I guess that was Souness and Walter Smith, who later managed the two teams we're watching
That means that two of my promotion picks are in playoff spots, but subject to change after today's results
As well as United's visit to SJP today being on Peacock... THREE out of the four games tomorrow are also on Peacock!
What else do NBC have to show on Sunday morning!
Sheff U Fulham, Palace Brighton and Leicester Villa all on-line
Decent long range shot from Hummus palmed away by adrian
Celtic from 66-74
Rangers 89-97
I'm surprised that both Monday matches are on the telly. Top match tomorrow is Foxes vs Villa. Winner goes top if this finishes a draw
I was correct on Celtic and was thinking the somewhere close with Rangers. That had to be Soueness and Smith, who later were unsuccessful with the two Mersey teams.
Busy week for Leeds. Host Wolves on Monday and the first Prem Friday nighter of the season at Villa Park
Andre Gomes Addams booked for drawing the ire of Morticia with that tackle
In England.... The city of Liverpool has the most titles... 28 (L19 E9) followed by Manchester with 26(U20, C6) then London
In Scotland.... Glasgow is first followed by Edinburgh....the capital has 8 titles....Glasgow.... ONE HUNDRED SIX!!
Don't know why that posted twice...sorry....I stuttered!
GOAL! Mo Salah with his sixth goal of the season!
Liverpool retake the lead... of course it is sensational because a City or Pool player scored it
IT was a lovely finish
That was a nice finish but Arlo and Lee are going a bit over board calling it "stunning" and what not.
Great minds think alike
Th Dave curse finally hit me. I missed a goal while in the bog
Arlo used "sensational"
Now.... "breathtaking"
Pulisic is starting for Chelsea
Pickers with a great save
Just saw the goal. Great finish from Salah . Nice build up , but horrible clearance from Jerry Minor off a poor cross from Hendo
Oh - great save by Pickers! Nearly 1-3 there.
Superb athletic save by Pickford from a close range header from Matip off the corner
Iwobi for Doucorre and Jota for Bobby Chompers , who added quite a bite to the Pool attack today
Volley from Salah straight to Pickford by pushed away due to the power . Nice cross from Thiago
Nice to see Pulisic has recovered from his injury
GOAL! What a header by DCL!!!!
DESMOND!
Great header by DCL
GOAL!!! HE CAN'T STOP SCORING . DCL SCORES WITH A HEADER TO MAKE IT DESMOND
TAA isn't that good of defender!
Why doesn't he just move up the field like Bale did
Superb cross from Digne
Great cross over and a towering header from the striker. That's the way that the game should be played.
Desmond!
Agreed Dave. He was way out of position
Liverpool almost in again... Arlo having kittens
Oh - nearly 2-3 there. Mane is denied by Pickers and then Jota followed up.
OH! Pool nearly retake the lead . Mane forces a close range block from Pickford off a nice slide rule pass then the rebound from Jota is miss hit and goes off of Mane's head wide
Now the announcers scream even if there isn't a goal
I really don't want Liverpool to win this one
Rodriguez....laying down forever.... he wasn't hurt!
Bloody foreigners!
Arlo needs to learn the rules. Fabinho booked for a less than fab challenge. Booked because he fouled , but the ref played the advantage
Stupid foul by Mina....It was never a foul! He dove
Useless effort by TAA
I don't know why I said the Foxes , Villa , or Gunners go top. They can't That's the battle for second if this finishes a draw. The Toffees top the rest of the week if this finishes a draw
I agree, mate. I hadn't noticed it before you mentioned it but Arlo is really bad about screaming at ordinary moments. Bring back Barry Davies and John Motson.
Off the ball clash between Thiago and Rich Arlison . Oliver Twist has the red card in his hand
Two players down now and there's a red card out. Who's going off?
Looks like Richarlison went through Thiago. He'll be going off once he gets off the turf.
There is RED CARD... for who?
Richarlson?
He is laying down ...hoping the ref will change his mind
I think I am playing against Richarlson..... that will do me some good
Richie will be off and serving a three match ban for that nasty challenge on his fellow Brazi. Original foul by Jerry Minor on Fabinho. All four South Americans, three Brazis. It's the right decision
Richarlison limps off for an early bath. What a match this is!
5 added minutes... please don't win it Pool!
Winnie comes on for Fabinho then.
A quintet of stoppage time minutes. Not music to Ritchie's ears
Rangers have won 2-0 at Celtic
I reckon that both of these sides will consider this two dropped points.
GOAL! Liverpool have won it - Hendo with the winner!
2-3!
Whatever Klopp said or did, Pool have rebounded from the debacle at Villa Park. Bob will be hoping Leeds do better than Pool at Villa Park on Friday
Bugger....they have won!
A Henderson goal.... should Pickford have won it..... was Mane offside ?
Is VAR checking?
That was made by Thiago's ball there to Robertson. The cross in was perfect and Hendo managed to beat Pickers with the pace of the finish.
GOAL !!! POOL HAVE WON IT LATE AT THE TEN MEN N. THIAGO PLAYED IT WIDE LEFT TO MANE AND HENDO HAD A SHOT THAT WENT IN OFF POOR KEEPING FROM PICKFORD. OFF HIS PALM AND ACROSS THE LINE
It's called offside - wow!
Again...all these line make no sense!
Again....when is the ball kicked
IT IS OFFSIDE!
This is ridiculous stuff!
I can hear Dave grumbling about that call from here.
Was it his arm?
Can you score with his arm?
It shouldn't count
No they haven't . VAR says offside. That's ridiculous. Millimeters is not exactly without a shadow of a doubt. Not clear and obvious
Now I'd love Everton to go and win it!
The sport is ruined!!
Pool fans will feel aggrieved at the decisions in this match. Will feel they have been robbed of two points
Free kick chance for Everton...will they put it into the box?
Liverpool haven't been convincing yet this season. They nearly drew against us on opening day. They were hammered by Villa away and now this one. More dropped points for the champs.
The derby north of the border is over. Rangers won 0-2 at Parkhead and are four points clear
Again.... ridiculous amount of added time added.... Hate it
That is it
Desmond stays for good!
Oh - last free kick chance there for the Toffees. I thought that DCL was going to score!
It's all over. What a match!
It finishes Desmond at Goodison Park in a wild match where Pool will feel they have been robbed of two points
I am off for walkies and errands
I shall return soon
I'm off to the shower. I'll probably forgo the second match in favor of catching up on grading. But I'm looking forward to the Citeh v. Arsenal match.
I'm off for walkies too.
I'm back from walkies
