If it's Wednesday, It's Leeds Time!
A very happy Wednesday to all of you chaps! I'm just wrapping up my morning work, so that I can concentrate on the footie this afternoon. What do we have on tap? Well, we start with a couple of bottom v. top matches with Citeh visiting Turf Moor to meet Burnley and Leicester visiting Craven Cottage to meet up with Fulham. No guesses as to what I want from them. That's just a warm-up for the main event for me - Leeds hosting Everton at Elland Road. We punked the Toffees 0-1 back in the fall, and I'd be delighted with a similar outcome today. However, according to my patented survival rubric, we don't need any points from today's match, so there is no pressure on us. While that's going on, Villa will kick off against West Ham and Liverpool will kick off against Brighton. Join me for all of the fun today, won't you?

Best of luck today Bob
I guess the score will be 2-0 according to your picture!
OR....2-17!!
Good afternoon, Bob and Dave.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
COME ON BURNLEY
COME ON YOU SEAGULLS!
COME ON YOU COTTAGERS!
Afternoon, guys - glad you were able to drop by today. Thanks for joining me.
Dave - how is Kathy doing?
I'll be doing double duty at the beginning of the afternoon, as I have an irritating department meeting. First day of the semester! Grrr!
The teams now lining up in the tunnel at Turf Moor:
Burnley: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters, Gudmundsson, Westwood, Cork, McNeil, Rodriguez, Vydra.
Subs: Peacock-Farrell, Stephens, Bardsley, Long, Nartey, Dunne, Benson, Driscoll-Glennon, Mumbongo.
Manchester City: Ederson, Stones, Dias, Laporte, Joao Cancelo, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Gundogan, Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Sterling.
Subs: Walker, Zinchenko, Steffen, Torres, Mendy, Fernandinho, Foden, Garcia, Gomes.
Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire).
Manchester City’s last seven results against Burnley: 5-0, 3-0, 5-0, 4-1, 1-0, 5-0, 5-0.
We're underway at Turf Moor. I suppose Burnley getting a result today, which would really benefit you ManYoo fans, would be fine. The bottom three are now seven points adrift, so it probably doesn't matter.
That said, Fulham need to lose badly to Leicester. No mercy for the Cottagers!
GOAL! Bloody hell - that was quick. Gabby Jesus with the opener for Citeh. That was like a training pitch goal. Blimey!
0-1
Just got back from picking Elizabeth up at the pharmacy and see Citeh is up a goal and ahead of United by three points
Burnley can’t get the ball. Given the recent history between these two clubs, this is looking like a long night for the hosts.
Welcome, David! How's your day going?
Just saw the Citeh goal. I know the shot was powerful, but unusually fumbled by the normally reliable Nick Pope from Weekend at Bernie's off a pass from Sterling before Jesu headed in the rebound
Yeah - not the best moment for Nick Pope. I suppose that he and Pickers are having a competition for the most memorable clangers this season.
GL !! IHENACHO HEADS IN A CROSS FROM THE FOURTH PRESIDENT TO GIVE THE FOXES THE LEAD
Doing well, thank you for asking. How is the first day of the new semester other than the snow and the pesky meeting?
Hope you don't have to miss the Leeds match, but at least you can watch it on Peacock later today
Wahay - Kelechi Ienacho has thundered in the first goal for Leicester at Craven Cottage. Everything is going just peachy so far.
So far, so good. My teaching schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, so I have my first two classes tomorrow.
Sounds good. Hope you can watch Leeds.
Nope - the meeting will end conveniently right around 2pm, so I'll have hour to get the preparations going for the match.
Hope Kathy is doing well.
That's great. I think the Leeds match starts at 2:30 your time and it's on Peacock
As things stand, Manchester City will go three clear at the top, while Leicester leapfrog Liverpool into third.
Foxes corner headed on and Arriola superbly makes a reflex save off a powerful volley from Soyuncu
Thanks, yeah, it is. Not happy that we're on Peacock again, but I suppose Liverpool is a bigger draw for their audience than Leeds and Everton.
Hey boys
I am here for a bit but busy taking care of Shadow. He had a procedure yesterday taking off lump from his leg. He is doing okay but still a struggle
Kathy is ok. She is up in her room until next Monday. She has a bit of a headache and lost some taste but she is doing well. She is just down in the dumps being stuck in the room. I am on the couch all night sleeping with Shadow.
Today is the last day we are confined to the house. I can actually go outside tomorrow
That's correct. Liverpool host the Seagulls in the late televised match and may go back to third
Welcome, Dave! Thanks for the updates on Kathy and Shadow. We've been thinking a lot about Kathy over the last few days. Glad to hear that she's only got mild symptoms and that Shadow is recovering from his procedure.
Sorry I forgot about Shadow. Glad the procedure went well. Sorry about Kathy , but delighted you can go outside in to what I think is the frozen tundra starting tomorrow
I second what Bob said. Glad the symptoms are not severe
Burnley are looking hopelessly lost in the past here. Nick Pope just kadoomphed a long goal kick straight to Ederson. What's the point of that?
I gave Elizabeth the updates .Elizabeth said she had prayers for Shadow a few days ago. She hopes they helped.
Thanks guys
I hope she gets back to herself ASAP... as quick as a Saint Red Card!
That would be quick - wow! ;-)
That's typical Burnley . They survive each year because they get enough points against the lower half teams and have a decent defense
It's been fairly scrappy at Turf Moor because of Burnley's negative tactics but Citeh are gradually starting to re-establish their early dominance.
LOL! That's quick,, but I do agree. That was his league debut and one to forget
I wonder if Pool vs Seagulls will be similar to this match
I think Sean Dyche uses Bib's rubric and may not give a toss about this match
Sorry, Bob
My rubric is a super secret one with a patent attached. Sean needs to keep his grubby paws off of it.
Razzy Sterling has made it 0-2 Citeh. Easy peasy for them.
I'm delayed because I can back late but just saw the second Citeh goal. Way too easy and I think the marathon possession started with a throw from Ederson. Nice pass from Gundogan for the Sterling tap in.
Foxes two up
GOAL !!! JAMES JUSTIN PUTS THE FOXES TWO UP. NICE TEAM GOAL. NICE LONG BALL FROM IHENACHO TO THE FOURTH PRESIDENT , WHO PUT THROUGH JUSTIN AS HE ROUNDED ARRIOLA AND EASILY TAPPED IN
Lovely jubbly - well done, the Foxes. I reckon that's over and out for Fulham today.
NBCSN several minutes behind on the update from Bob and Kate's
Ht in both matches
Away teams both 2-0 up
Nice reflex save by Arriola off a deflected shot from Harvey Barnes and the Foxes two up at the half
Half-time whistles going around the country. 0-2 in both matches, just as I wanted it.
My meeting is starting to wind down and I'm really looking forward to the match now.
Agreed, Bob . Hard to see the Cottagers coming back from this
Citeh start the second half continuing to dominate and Gundogan shoots inches over
Glad the meeting is over. Leeds starts in 25 minutes and I switch over at that time
Sterling put through and forces a kick save from Nick Pope
Nice sweeper kicking from Nick Pope as he rushes out to hoof away a long through ball intended for Sterling, who beat the offside trap
Nick Pope at full stretch to push away a cross from Mahrez intended for Sterling
Mahrez taps in a pass from Jesus off a long possession , but it's disallowed for offside. He was just off
VAR checking. It's disallowed for offside. If he was off it was by no more than an inch
Double switch from the Brodge . Albrighton for Ayoze . the other like for like as Mendy on for Choudry
Like for like as Zinchenko on for Cancelo
I'm back after my meeting to settle in to enjoy the match from Elland Road today. Come on, you Whites!
Ricardo with a goal disallowed for offside and saved Arriola's blushes as he was beaten too easily at the near post. Nice pass from Albrighton
Welcome back.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
Teams starting to come out of the tunnel now. We've made one change from the win against Leicester, and that's a forced one with Rodrigo out with a groin strain and Matty Klich in for him.
Meslier, Gjanni, Coop, Struijk, Ayling, Kal, Stu Dallas, Klich, Raphinha, Patrick, Jack.
Dale Stephens on for Jack Cork. Looks like Sean Dyche has conceded the match
Nice tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore now.
Leeds about to start
Best of luck mate
Again, I don't know why your'e even worried.....far closer to Europe than the Championship!
Both of the early matches still at 0-2. That suits me just fine.
And we're away on the new pitch at Elland Road. Come on, you Whites!
Ederson rushes miles outside his box and booked for a nasty foul on Pieters
Oh - Raphinha was in there! Leeds already on the front foot!
Leeds go close very early!!
COME ON LEEDS
If Leeds win this....they will be ahead of Arsenal...behind Villa on GD and one point behind Everton, Chelsea and Spurs
Ederson....nasty big of a tackle there!
SEND HIM OFF
Possession game so far for us.
It's a new pitch at ER? It was rubbish the last time out, wasn't it?
A few players slipping on the new surface.
Yeah - Bielsa was livid about the pitch against Brighton and had a new one ordered.
Leeds playing a bit like Citeh early doors
Bugger! A couple of good passes and we're cut open. Siggy scores!
0-1
BUGGER! SIGGY GIVES THE TOFFEES THE LEAD WITH A TAP IN OFF A PASS FROM DIGNE OFF A LONG DIAGONAL FRO ANDRE GOMES ADDAMS. WHY WERE LEEDS BALL WATCHING?
I don't know why Struijck didn't cut out that cross - really poor.
Sorry, Bob. Plenty of time for Leeds to come back
Sorry mate
Now it's DCL with a shot on target. We're really shaking here.
Comfortable save by Meslier from DCL from just outside the box
Wish I could just order a new back lawn!!!
I need Everton players to get hurt or too knackered to play at the weekend
Nice long range effort now from Klich parried away by Olson.
Robin Olsen does well to push away a long range Kliched shot
Oh - Coop nearly got to that corner by Mina nodded away.
This time Luke Ayling got his head to it but it was a tough angle to convert.
We really haven't got into this one yet.
Yellow card now for Jack for that foul. And now Everton have a free kick out wide right. Mark 'em up!
Oh - good cross from Ayling to Patrick. He should have at least got it on target.
I guess we want a Liverpool win at the weekend
Two matches this weekend with he cities of Liverpool and Manchester taking each other on!
I'll take home wins in both please
Patrick wins a corner now with some nice interplay.
oooh.... off the post!
Oh - Gjanni with a Paul Scholes effort off the post!
Scholes type shot!
Back from diaper and didn't miss a single goal
alll over at Turf Moor
Over to Bob and Kate's.....tell Kate to sit down in the front row!!!
We're starting to trouble Everton a bit now - it took us 15 minutes to get going.
Both Citeh and the Foxes win 0-2 away from home with all the goals scored in the first half
Oh - great ball in from Raphinha but Patrick's touch was heavy. Should have been able to turn and shoot.
I read Bob's comment earlier....maybe the Leeds players thought the same as Bob that the kick off was at 3!!
Everton are doing nowt right now - they're just happy to soak up the pressure.
In the Championship Bristol City take the lead at the Bees and Bristol Ned another fourteen goals to replace the Cherries in the final playoff spot. That's not idle gossip
When did I say that the kick-off was at 3pm?
LOL, Dave. That makes sense. I don't like the schedule with overlapping matches. Didn't have that problem when we lived in England
Nice free kick now earned by Gjannni.
Andre Gomes Addams slides and nearly takes out Bielsa, who nearly got punished for requesting a new pitch . Was he mistaken for Uncle Fester?
Oh - great header by Struijk tipped over by Olson.
Robin Olsen tips over a Struijched header that look to take a nick off of DCL
This one needs to go in - come on!
Leeds almost in again....corner to come....cleared!
Your comment at 1:23
Nope - the meeting will end conveniently right around 2pm, so I'll have hour to get the preparations going for the match.
Siggy called for a foul on Kal Phillips . Looked minor
Me....good a math....2pm...an hour...3pm
Leeds doing modern day passing around the back...STOP IT!
Nearly a catastrophic pass from Coop straight to Richarlison. Fortunately, the Brazilian didn't capitalize on it.
Luckily for Leeds Rich Arlison not used to driving a Mini Cooper off that horrible clearance
Math was never my forte - LOL!
Great anoraking , Dave , and great math
Leeds giving it away at the back again!!!!
Siggy straight at Meslier off poor Leeds passing
Las t home team to score in the Prem? The hint is they scored a lot
Ummmm....ManYoo?
We need one back before half-time.
No home goals in the Championship so far either
That is true - we've won twice as many matches away as at Elland Road.
More messing around at the back from Meslier. Knock it off!
Correct, Bob. great knowledge of current events, Bob
Not sure how the new Pool signings from Pool are going to feature. Ben Davies , a center half signed from PNE may feature soon, to replace young Nat Phillips. Not sure about the young Turkish international signed from Schalke
Remember....United are unbeaten away from home since January 2020 at Anfield
You can see what Everton are trying to do tonight. Just soak up pressure and try to release the likes of DCL. Rubbish football.
New Everton signing Josh King in the stands.
Monday was a crazy day for us and in the midst of all that didn't realize that Josh King signed for the Toffees
It was a last minute effort by Ancelotti. I was surprised - I don't think that he's a useful addition for them.
Oh - great ball in from Ayling but Patrick just got edged out.
Ayling wins a challenge.... should have taken the space.....he crosses too soon
Toffees now fifth. If there is winner in the match tomorrow. That team will be fifth
Rubbish free kick by the keeper from half way. What is this - 1951?
DCL wins a corner now off Struijk. Mark 'em up!
Bloody hell
Sorry mate
BUGGER ! TOFFES GO TWO UP OFF A CORNER
Bugger! Another set piece goal conceded!
0-2!
Thanks for reopening DCL scoring column again!
Grrrr!
Corner from Siggy headed on by Ben Godfrey and headed in at the far post by DCL
Pool vs Seagulls underway from Anfield
Don't care what Bob says....COME ON YOU SEAGULLS
Now a free kick to defend.
A pair of stoppage time minutes at ER
Pool should have taken the lead. Long ball from the back found Salah , who blasted over with just Robert Sanchez to beat
Everton just lost at home to Newcastle....no one loses to Newcastle!
Toffees two up at the half. Sorry, Bob
HT.... a game of two halves perhaps
Bees tie it up vs Bristol City
Half-time whistle goes - not enjoying this one at all. We don't really need anything out of this one but I'd like to see a better performance in the second half.
Hopefully that's the case at ER
The other Claret and Blue derby is just underway at Villa Park
I wonder if Graham Potter told his players not to get sent off early doors
In the SPL Rangers being held 0-0 by St. Johnny at the half
I'll take a Brighton win today and let Liverpool win at the weekend
The teams are back out for the second half. We'll need to create more chances in this second half. We're not out of this one as we can score loads when we're on it. Come on, you Whites!
The second half is underway from ER
We're underway again - come on!
COME ON DESMOND . COME TO ER QUICKLY!
Underway again
Here it is
IT'S LEEDS TIME!!!!
Too bad; Jack got away from his man but then his cross was well overcooked.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT START!!!
YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
Boom, boom, boom, boom - Raphinha's in the room!
1-2!
WAY HAY! RAPHINA SCOES WITH A GREAT FINISH TO PULL IT BACK TO 1-2. MASON HOLGATE MISJUDGED A ROUTINE LONG BALL AND BAMFORD WITH AN OUTSTRETCHED LEG PASSED IT BACK TO RAPHINHA FOR THE GREAT FINISH
Congratulations, Bob. Game on and great rhyming
Credit to Jack Harrison for winning the ball off of Mason Holgate
Let's have another, boys!
Rotherham takes a late second half lead vs the Rams in a relegation six pointer. Rotherham in the final drop spot a pair of points behind Brum and the Rams with a pair of games in hand
It's Raphinha's fourth of the season and another priceless assist from Patrick.
COME ON DESMOND! LET'S GET TO ER SOON!
Oh - Jack with a tasty cross that Patrick flicks on - Raphinha couldn't get onto that one.
Did you see Bamford's interview after the last match
Complaining about himself giving up the goal for an assist for Harrison....he has himself on his fantasy team
too much passing there Leeds
Gjanni wins a great free kick chance now. Come on!
jERRY mINOR TRIPS aLI JUST OUTSIDE THE BOX
Sounds like Lord Bamford thinks he's royalty
Rotherham two up vs the Rams
It was a funny interview
Too much Ayling dribbling and his shot is too easily blocked
Ayling storming into the area now but his shot was blocked off. Great response from us in this second half.
Lord Bamford is a regal presence on the pitch.
Don't let them back in Leeds!
It's definitely Leeds Time
Solly March just over for the Seagulls a month too early
Wouldn't it be great if Liverpool lose a second straight match at home!
Looks like we got away with one - Ayling with a handball from that long ball in.
Rotherham three up vs the Rams
Derby had been a run of good form as of late
Looks like a beautiful night in Yorkshire now.
How did that not go in....TWICE!!!
Oh - how did that not go in?! Great pressure!
