If It's Tuesday, It Must be Footie Time!
A very good Tuesday afternoon to all of you. I'm taking advantage of a free afternoon to set aside my final exam grading and watch some footer. My beloved Leeds are in the midst of our horrible holiday fixture schedule as we visit the Etihad to take on Man City. Now, last season we took four points from City, including a thrilling 1-2 win at the Etihad thanks to a last gasp Stu Dallas breakaway goal. I don't expect those kind of heroics again today. City have been in blinding form and we're missing several of our key players. We could really get turned over today; yet, according to my patented rubric for mid-table obscurity, we don't need anything. So, I hope that we'll play the Bielsa way and try to go toe-to-toe with them. Come on, you Leeds! #MOT!

News out of the Leeds camp is that Marcelo Bielsa is fielding an unchanged side from the one that nearly grabbed a point at Stamford Bridge.
In the other fixture tonight, Norwich are hosting Villa. Of course, given the circumstances, I'm hoping for a Villa win or at least a draw.
The team news out of Maine Road:
Manchester City: Ederson, Stones, Dias, Laporte, De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Zinchenko, Mahrez, Grealish, Foden.
Subs: Ake, Sterling, Gundogan, Gabriel Jesus, Steffen, Fernandinho, Egan-Riley, Palmer, Wilson-Esbrand.
Leeds United: Meslier, Shackleton, Ayling, Llorente, Firpo, Dallas, Forshaw, Raphinha, Roberts, Harrison, James.
Subs: Klaesson, Gelhardt, Cresswell, Drameh, Summerville, Greenwood, Klich, McCarron, Jenkins.
Referee: Paul Tierney (Lancashire).
The Norwich v. Villa match has kicked off. Come on, Stevie G.!
There were supposed to be three Premier League games tonight, but an outbreak of coronavirus at Manchester United put paid to their trip to Brentford. With more postponements and even a suspension of competition a very real threat, clubs are bringing in stricter measures to hopefully keep things going. David Hytner has more on that.
0-0 right now in the early kickoff. Come on, Villa!
Wahay! The Leeds boys are coming out to a chorus of boos.
And the Leeds boys get us started wearing their away strip of all dark blue. Not sure why all white wouldn't have worked just as well.
Oh - Grealish jinks inside one challenge and fires one at Meslier's near post. Good save.
First real attack for us but Raph overruns it.
City on the front foot from the off, of course. We'll need to weather the storm.
Ambitious effort from half way by Forshaw trying to keep Ederson on his toes.
Oh - big miss from Bernardo there. We nearly threw away a goal there. We need to stop mucking about at the back.
Bugger! Foden follows in on an attack to poke City into the lead.
1-0
Poor from both Meslier and Dallas there. Should have been able to clear it.
We're on a knife's edge in terms of the yellow card situation. We could lose a number of players for the Saturday match at home to Arsenal if we're not cautious.
KDB forces a corner now. Mark 'em up!
Bugger! Grealish makes it 2-0 with a sharp header from a great cross. Uh oh.
Llorente is riding a fine line with a booking now.
We look a bit shellshocked right now.
Oh - KDB sneaks in at the near post there but can't steer it on target.
Junior Firpo picks up a needless yellow, which means that he'll be out of the Arsenal match.
MOT!
Phew! Bernardo delivers a great cross but Shackleton is able to clear.
A rare foray up pitch comes to nothing.
Oh - KDB unleashes one that Meslier saves well.
Oh - big shout for a handball against Zinchenko there. Nothing doing.
VAR reviewing the Zinchenko incident now.
And also a VAR check for the incident between Rodri and Meslier there. Also nothing doing.
Bugger! KDB breaches our defense and slides home a third.
3-0
Jamie Shackleton is down needing treatment now. This could get worse.
Looks like Matty Klich is being readied for the substitution. He got a lot of stick after the penalty mistake on Saturday and actually had to delete his Twitter account. Disgraceful from the Leeds mob.
Fortunately, Villa have taken the lead against Norwich.
Rodri picks up a yellow for a late one on Tyler.
Phew! Foden is inches away from a fourth.
Oh - great tracking back from Ayling there. Foden nearly in again.
Nearly half time now - I'm hoping for wholesale changes.
Oh - our best break yet. Comes to nothing, though.
MOT!
Oh - KDB wriggles free but then blasts over.
Wahay! Joffy is being introduced at the beginning of the second half. Come on, boy - dazzle 'em!
Oh - late shout from Meslier there and Dallas nearly allowed Foden in.
Ah - great ball through from Dallas to Harrison but the move broke down.
Bugger! After that bright opening, we've conceded again. Mahrez with a deflected effort. 4-0.
Firpo pulls back Grealish there and could easily have been sent off. He's getting a bollocking from the ref and should be subbed immediately.
Mahrez with a good strike but tipped over by Meslier.
Oh - Gundogan snuck in at the back post and nearly made it 5-0. Good stuff from City.
Oh - best action of the day from us. Great cross in from Jack and Joffy threw himself at it. The ball came back out to Stu Dallas who shot off the post. Nearly.
Fernandinho comes on for Rodri. Like for like.
Oh - now Jack has one deflected just wide. Corner.
Foden stabs home but it's flagged off.
VAR check on that one. Could be given.
Oof! KDB with a rocket for #5.
Tyler tries one from distance but it's easily caught by Ederson.
Nathan Ake comes on for Dias now.
Oh - Mahrez with one at the near post that Meslier tipped around.
Oh - Jack wove his way through there but couldn't get his shot off.
Cody Drammeh about to replace Junior Firpo. Good change there. Dallas to change sides.
That's Firpo saved for the match on Saturday then.
Grrrr!!! A double save by Meslier can't prevent Stones rattling in a sixth.
Bugger! Nathan Ake rises to nod home a seventh.
Leeds fans still singing, bless 'em. MOT!
Jack tries one from distance but Ederson smothers it.
Come on, lads - let's have a consolation goal.
Klich, breathing hard, fouls Foden and City have a decent free kick chance now.
KDB fires into Meslier's arms this time.
Leeds fans now singing, "We All Love Leeds!"
KDB on a hat-trick blasts one into the heavens.
That's it - what can you say about that match. I admire that we tried to play our stuff, but in the end, City were in irresistible form tonight. It's done some real damage to our goal difference, but other than that it's meaningless. We'll need to pick ourselves for a home match against Arsenal on Saturday.
