Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good Afternoon, Bob. Thanks for getting us started. Here watching footie in the mountains.
Tofffes vs Toon postponed, so this is the only Prem match.Four matches in the Championship and the Black Cats vs Not a Big Club in L1

I had a feeling that Everton v. Newcastle might have been postponed, as I couldn't get any updates on it.
All set for kick-off now - come on, United!
They're off from OT !COME ON MAN UNITED!
Good Afternoon, Bob. Glad to join you
First chance for Burnley. Chris Wood headed wide off a cross from Matyy Lowton after Dwight Mc Neill had a shot blocked then wide by Wood on the break but flagged offside
Oh - Burnley break through Aaron Lennon who plays Chris Wood in but the big lump is caught offside.
BUGGER! That Shaw was a great long ball then CR7 high and wide with just the keeper to beat
Wahay! McTom fires United into the lead!!
YESSS! United take the lead. Greenwood with a shot blocked then passes back to CR7 and his heavy touch broke to McTomain who curled it in the corner
Do Burnley have a case of McTomain poisoning?
In L1 Black Cats go top as they go two up vs Not a Big Club
In the Championship Cherries one up vs Cardiff as is Bristol City vs QPR, the Terriers at Forest and the Rams at the Potters
Gudmunnson down off a collision with Obi Wan who made a great headed clearance
Play resumes
Black Cats three up vs Not a Big Club
Hennessey in goal for Burnley but nothing he could have done to have prevented the goal.
Yeah - I reckon that Sean Dyche left the tuna fish out too long after lunch this afternoon. Burnley look ripe for the picking today. I hope United can run up a score.
OH! That Shaw was a nice 40 yard run but the shot from just outside the box hit the side netting
Burnley hasn't played in two and a half weeks. A bit rusty. We were still in Texas back then
Burnley have a corner now - mark 'em up!
Stupid obstruction by Matic on Gudmunsson by the United corner flag. United somehow clear the free kick
A long spell of Burnley pressure ends with thankfully an atrocious cross from Lennon.
Not sure about Aaron Lennon's beard. That wouldn't pass muster at Elland Road.
Pass from Greenwood off Ben Meee for a United corner
Greenwood wins a corner now. This one has started very brightly.
Cross from McNeill out by Eric Bailey for a Burnley corner
QPR tied it up at Ashton Gate on the stroke of halftime.
More than five hours of football without a goal for Burnley. That's shocking.
WAY HAY!Sancho puts United two up. His first goal at OT
Yes! Sancho doubles United's lead thanks to a generous deflection!
2-0!
Might be a Ben Mee o.g. there but I think it should be credited to Sancho. His first for United?
Sancho Shaw did get a passthen cut in and it took a nick off of Mee, not he
First at OT, but I think he scored one or two away from home
One too many touches from CR7 Aamd his shot was blocked for a corner off a nice run and pass from McTomain
Chris Wood was nearly in there - phew!
Let's have a hat-trick, Ronny!
Yes! Ronaldo taps home after a thunderbolt by McTom off the post!
3-0!
WAY HAY! United go three up.McTomain with a curler off the post and CR7 easily tapped in the rebound
That's 14 now for Ronny since he returned, including eight in the Premier League. He's level with our Raphinha now.
This is doing some real damage to Burnley's GD.
Bugger - Aaron Lennon gets one back. 3-1.
BUGGER! Lennon scores with a nice finish. Poor touch by Eric Bailey and Maguire well out of position
Oh - Ronny nearly in on a backpass. Loads of goals so far, with hopefully some more to come. I'd take 10-1.
Oh - great cross by Greenwood but Ronny couldn't get over it.
Sancho still waiting for his first goal at OT. Not he, but Mee with an OG
United 3 LUFC Academy 1 .Sound right?
Just about, mate. They've got Charlie Taylor and Aaron Lennon, plus Chris Wood was with us in the Championship.
An LOB blogging duo of stoppage time minutes
Oh - Greenwood jinked inside nicely but then tried one at the near post. Well wide.
Greenwood wins a United corner that he took. Headed out then dragged a shot wide as he Shaw did receive the ball back
United lead 3-1 at the half. Much improved from Monday
Half-time - That's a fairly satisfying performance so far for United, only slightly marred by Aaron Lennon's consolation strike.
3-1.
Teams back out for the second half - I want more goals!
Back for the second half after walking a quarter of a mile and back to get the mail.
That second goal has been officially credited to Ben Mee, sadly. Sancho will have to wait for his first goal at OT.
Cherries two up vs Cardiff. Potters tie it up vs the Rams
Table topping Black Cats four up vs Not a Big Club. Bob will be pleased. Tough evening for BPF
Oh - Greenwood pulls a good save out of Hennessey!
OH! Hennessey pushes away a shot from Greenwood. Nice combo and from Shaw, CR7 vand Thomas Edison Cavani
Black Cats FIVE up vs Not a Big Club.
I like that sound of that! Well done, Sunderland!
Rams back in the lead. Now 1-2 ahead at the Potters.
On the touchline, Ralf Rangnick doesn’t look entirely thrilled. United have been more ruthless than brilliant, but I suppose that beats the muck they served up the other night.
Table topping Cherries three up vs ten man Cardiff
I can't see Wayne Rooney's men surviving - they've got too large a hole to dig out from. We had one of those relegation seasons.
Agreed. I think Ralf will see this as,progress, but with room for improvement
Dale Stephens on for Jack Cork. A defensive change for a team needing goals
I'm disappointed that United haven't added to their lead yet.
Eric Bailey tackles Lennon for a Burnley corner
Bailly shepherds Lennon out of play - Aaron's been Burnley's brightest spark.
Oh - another excellent shot by McTom - great save by Hennessey to tip it over.
Oh! Hennessey tips over a shot from McTomain off a pass from CR7 afternoon Greenwood was tackled on a counter from the Burnley corner
An injury enforced substitution as Varane is on for Eric Bailey
Scott McTominay appears to have become Arie Haan for the night.
Eric Bailly comes off replaced by Rafael Varane.
QPR takes a late 1-2 lead at ten man Bristol City
Lennon wins a corner off Obi Wan. Ben Mee heads overat the far post
The Black Cats go top of L1 as they thrash not a Big Club 5-0. Bob's old mate, BPF picking the goals out of the back of the net
Oh - great break through Sancho there who found Ronaldo. Ronny's header found Cavani who was ruled offside. Another super save by Hennessey, though.
Some Finals in the Championship.
Cherries 3 Cardiff 0
Bristol City 1 QPR 2
Potters 1 Rams 2
Forest 0 Terriers 1
Some really shaky United defending, but Lennon flagged offside late.
Bournemouth clicking along nicely.
You won't be unhappy to see Aaron Lennon replaced by Vydra.
An extra striker for Burnley as Matty Vydra on for Lennon
Thomas Edison Cavani nearly electrocuted as he caught a stray elbow from Ben Mee
Cavani's not at all happy about that elbow from Ben Mee.
Not at all. I liked that change
Correct, Bob. The Cherries chairman says Beam us up Scotty
McTom earns a free kick in Ronaldo territory. Come on, Ronny - let's have another!
Dale Stephen's fouls McTomain about 25 yards from goal
I fully expect the Cherries and Cottagers to return to the Prem next season.
Into the wall from Ronny, sadly.
Into the wall by CR7 AND Tark the worse for wear. The wall didn't look ten yards back
Dalot being prepared to come on, probably to replace Obi Wan.
I agree with that. Not sure about the playoff winner
Ralf shutting up shop as Dalot on for Greenwood
That's an odd change.
The ball dropped for Shaw but he hoiked it over.
The final roll of the dice from Sean Dychevan odd one as Erik Peter's on for McNeill. Not exactly what Burnley need now
Seems like Daloot and Peter's playing as makeshift wingers.
This is the last match of 2021. NYD starts with a cracker, Gunners vs Citeh. Pupil vs the master
Nearly into stoppage time now - Burnley have a corner. Tarkovsky nearly got on to it.
Dale Stephens not too far wide with a header off a corner
United's next game is at home to Wolves on Monday. Of course, my beloved Leeds meet Burnley in a titanic relegation scrap on Sunday morning. I'll be well up for that one.
Sorry, Tark, not Stephens
A trio of stoppage time minutes
Two bites of the cherry for Ronny - volleyed one into the side netting on the second attempt.
Would love your United to do the same to Burnley as our United
Not sure why Fred is getting stripped off now - surely it's too late to bring him on!
Oh - I'd take a 3-1 win right now. Actually a 1-0er would do nicely.
Fred on for CR7 in stoppage time as Talf aimed to irk Dave
Maguire down for United
It's over and United win 3-1, but will need to do better vs Wolves
United finish a 3-1 win. Satisfying but I'd have preferred a larger winning margin.
I'm off to enjoy the evening with the in-laws.
United up to sixth ahead of the Spuds and behind the Hammers on goal difference
Cheers. Have a great evening. Great chatting with you
