We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

World Cup 2022 Matchday 1 Update


Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying the World Cup despite it being a highly unusual tournament at a highly unusual time of the year. After checking both FOTMOB and the BEEB website I notice that fair play as a tiebreaker. If the teams were level in all categories after that then alphabetical order was the tiebreaker. The main upsets were the Saudis defeating the Argies and Japan defeating Germany. Just as in the PPP, Red Devil leads the standings in a competitive race . Here are the standings:

1. Red Devil -34 points

2. Teddy Goalesevelt- 32 points'

3. MOT-30 points

4. UWS- 29 points

5. Bees Knees - 27 points

     Swansong- 27 points

7. MUR- 26 points

8. WHR- 25 points

9. Blubber Boy- 24 points

    Gooner - 24 points

11. Blue Devil -23 points

      oticoN- 23 points

13. Red Dragon- 23 points

Thanks for the update, David - much appreciated. Taking stock of the first round of group matches, it appears to me that the bigger sides have fallen into three categories:

1. Teams that have met or exceeded expectations - (England, France, Spain, Brazil)

2. Teams that won but weren't impressive - (Holland, Belgium, Portugal)

3. Teams that suffered disastrous losses - (Argentina and Germany)

As we start the second set of group matches, it'll be fascinating to see how all of this shakes out.
