Premiership Action Post-January Transfer Window
It's another exciting day of Premiership and Championship action, made even more so by the end of transfer window flurry. From what I can tell from the papers, Fernando Torres has completed his move to Stamford Bridge for £45 million. Nicolas Anelka, who seemed to be part of the deal yesterday heading to Anfield, is in the starting XI for Chelski today, so he seems to have stayed. That match at Sunderland should get pretty interesting this afternoon. So too Arsenal v. Everton and ManYoo v. Villa. In the Championship, I'll be cheering on my Whites away at Hull today. Join me if you've got a snow day off today, won't you?

Great Veetle link for the Gillette Soccer Special this afternoon:

Leeds start the today in 6th on 45 points. We could use some help this afternoon from Coventry who host Forest, Bristol City who host Swansea, Reading who are away to Cardiff, Millwall who are away to Norwich and Pompey who are away to QPR.
Come on you Whites!
Ice day here. I will not have control of the computer but will be watching Everton/Arsenal on FSC,
Still a bit chilly up there?
Hiya, Ed! Great to have you around this afternoon. I'm stuck in the office so I'll monitoring on the computer. It's not as chilly today as it was yesterday but that also means we're going to get absolutely pounded tonight. I'm hoping to be able to sneak through my late afternoon/evening class before the real onslaught comes.
The panel are all praising El Nino as "top drawer." I don't disagree with that assessment but I still thinks it's a risk as he's been in rotten form and I don't know how easy it is for players to turn it off and on.
Tomas Rosicky is handed the task of filling in for injured Samir Nasri as Arsenal look to maintain their title push against Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
Make the change to blue will help the boy.
Everton picked up a 19 year old Greek striker and an old net from Gretna in the transfer window. Going to be a tough few months.
The ice from this storm is nasty. Took about half an hour to get it off my car this morning.
Hi Fellas
I am home early from school because of snow!
Another big storm heading in tonight!
I am happy that there is no Faculty meeting and getting out of school an hour early!
Already got the Arse v Everton on FSC but going to turn it to ESPN 2 at 2:55 for the big boys!
Kick-off time!
Welcome, UWS - at least you'll probably tomorrow and maybe even Thursday off, eh? Put your feet up and I'd imagine that a cuppa and cheese on toast will arrive before long.
Yes - starting the Championship reports with Hull v. Leeds. Early let-off for the Whites apparently.
best of luck against Hull
I see that BBC have commentary of the Leeds match on sports extra
Leeds almost fall behind
YES!!
SUNDERLAND HAVE TAKEN THE LEAD AGAINST CHELSEA!!!!
Sunderland are in front! Brilliant start to the Torres era, eh?
My college hasn't been cancelled yet!!
I am supposed to have class tonight
What are your thoughts about Torres and Carroll?
Me too, mate. I've got a 4:30-7pm class. Hoping to sneak through and nip on home before it gets too nasty. I don't like the sound of that ice that Someone Said is talking about.
Ipswich are playing well but are losing 1-0 at Pride park
How can I keep up with it all... the computer with LOB, Veetle and BBC and United vs Villa and Arsenal vs Everton on the box!!!
Glad to hear that you're in control of all the technology this afternoon, UWS.
YES!!!!!!!!!!
MY CLASS HAS JUST BEEN CANCELLED!!!!!
Merse with his usual problems with pronunciation there. "He won't be getting another mention unless he scores!" Love it!
Rucky, rucky bastid!
I had to beat up Matt to get the computer
Good on you, mate. He deserves a thumping every now and again.
Swansea have taken the lead at Ashton Gate
The reporter hasn't a clue he was on air... luckily he wasn't sexist!
Bugger - Swansea are in front away to Bristol City. Usual Calamity James.
United getting started at OT against Villa now. Best of luck, mate.
From the Beeb
Shotton7 on Twitter: "Breaking News: Chelsea to bid £51m for Phil Bardsley."
Swansea have leap-frogged their Welsh neighbors into second on the strength of that goal.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Penalty to Chelski! Ahmed Elmohamady brings down Ashley Cole with a clumsy challenge inside the box.
First goal in open play by Roon for yonks
GREAT FINISH!
That was quick!
Lamps scores from the spot
Actually he scored with that weird unintentially headed goal a few weeks back.
Celtic one up at Aberdeen. They just played on the weekend
Lots of shots on goal by Leeds. Only that one chance so far for Hull. Looking pretty decent. Brad Guzan is in goal for Hull and working miracles.
Not at home
Watford are now only a point behind us on the strength of their 1-0 lead over hapless Palace.
"Leeds starting to dictate with their attacking flair." I like the sound of that.
Everton starting out strong. Fabergas has a good chance but fired it wide. RVP playing inspired.
Hooper scores for the Hoops.
That Twitter news item about Phil Bardsley has got to be a wind-up, right?
duh!!!
It's called humor
West Brom up
West Brom have taken the lead through Peter Odemwinge over Wigan.
What about United' draw against Crawley Town?
Just checking - it has been a crazy transfer window.
Walcott got a great bounce but Howard made a very good save.
Great draw for both United and Crawley Town.
Ipswich are in danger of dropping to L1 if they don't pull their fingers out.
11 months since his last goal at OT in open play
He scored against Bayern
Great cross by Roon but Berba could put it in
Chelski are 1-2 up through Kalou. Sounds like a right clanger from the keeper.
Bugger... Chelsea are now winning!
Chelsea are ten points behind but they still scare me
Nani has hurt his knee
Saha was offside but it was not called.
1-0 Everton!
Cardiff are losing
That's nice - Reading are 0-1 up at evil Cardiff.
Everton has scored!!!
The Toffees are 0-1 up - Luis Saha!
Miles off side!!
Sounds as if Saha was miles offside.
Callled on sided because it was touched by the defender
Referee's still given the goal. Gooners will not be best pleased.
Come on United... get another one
Another big chance for Hull - I do not like it.
Goal at the Stadium of Light.... 2-2!!!
Huge shout of "GOAL" from Merse -
It's 2-2 Sunderland v. Chelski!
Arsenal faithful letting the ref have it after giving Everton an corner.
Great results for United fans right now.
Evil Cardiff have dropped to 5th, only one point ahead of Leeds now.
Yup... blow up now everyone... you can keep playing at Hull though
Not liking Villa's possession here
Ipswich have tied it up at Derby
Did you see the Everton goal?
Interesting.
The pass was made and he was offside but it isn't called offside until he receives it. The ball actually came to him off of two Arsenal feet
Forest losing at Coventry
That was an odd goal, but should have been called off.
Nice finish by Saha though.
Not yet - I'll look forward to seeing it later.
Oh - I like that Coventry score too.
We're level on points but behind on GD with Forest now. Cardiff up to 4th.
Nani gets bumped off the ball inside the box... penalty not given
Nani was the one that went down and it could have been one. Sort of like the non-pen for Blackpool last week.
Nani's knee still bothering him
Jimmy Bullard has leveled it for Ipswich. I didn't even know he was at Portman Road to be honest.
Just this week on loan
Hands off my boy Nani!
Nani back on
Come on United... Villa are getting too much play right now
Bugger... Hull are one up
Bugger! Hull have scored. Not good. Not good at all.
Forest are level
And now Forest are level. Not a good minute there.
Wigan have leveled it at the Hawthorns.
When things start off so wonderfully, they usually don't end that way!!
oooh, Big Brad with a great save from Nani
Wigan tie it up
Leeds have dropped to 7th now - Watford above us.
Merse is losing his mind with the match at the Stadium of Light.
Five goals at London Road already in the first half. 2-3 Wednesday there.
Great minds think a like
2018: Penalty shout at Old Trafford as Nani goes down under Richard Dunne's clumsy challenge inside the Villa box, but referee Chris Foy waves away the appeals. The challenge reminded me a lot of the one that wasn't given when Rafael da Silva felled Luke Varney at Blackpool last week... and I thought that was a penalty, too.
I want to do that Gillette Challenge
Right now, United are 8 points up on Arsenal, 9 on Citeh and 12 on Chelsea
Blow up REFS!!
Forest are now winning
And you've got a match in hand, right?
Bugger, bugger, bugger. Come on you Whites!
No, not any more
After Citeh's game tomorrow, we will have a game in hand then
Yes - Palace are back at 1-1 with Watford. That helps. Back up to 6th.
Struth... nil two
Sorry mate
Plenty of time
Bollocks! We're 2-0 down now! What's going on!?
If I was an Arsenal fan I'd be booing the refs too. Not calling a fair match. Arteta ran down Walcott.
United have gone off the boil as of late
COME ON!!
That's very fair of you, SS.
Giggs gets a shot but it was with his left... nuff said
It's a very poorly officiated match.
Not taking the goal back though!
Two minutes of added time at the Emirates.
YES
Leeds with a goal back
SNODDY
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!
Snoddy has fired us back into the match with a terrific free kick.
2-1 Hull!
Snoddy's fifth goal of the campaign. Not bad given that he was injured for the first six weeks.
Half time at the Emirates - Everton still in the lead.
Fletcher has to be replaced... I think he needs stitches in a head wound from a while back
Anderson on
Half time at SoL
COME ON SUNDERLAND
All Pompey at Loftus Road
Evra should have done better with a chance!
Rooney still looks like he is slow and out of it!
Halftime. Just went to take out the trash to find another layer of ice on the car. Ugh. Supposed to rain overnight, maybe that will melt some of it.
Celtic holding on to their one goal lead over the Dons at the half.
Really? Even though Roon scored a cracker earlier?
Nice cross by Nani and Berba meets it at the back post but didn't keep his header down... bugger
one more goal for Berbatov would equal his best goal haul in a league season in his career
I'm telling the truth. He seems to be late to react instead of anticipating
United play at Molineux on Saturday... I hope bloody Kenny Miller isn't playing!
Wigan take the lead at WBA
one added minute at a quiet OT
YES!!!!!!!!
ROONEY!!!!
Great cross by nani
Rooney doesn't seem thrilled to be scoring
Just like London buses, eh?
half time... I feel a lot better after that goal!
hope so!
Long may the scores continue
Back on at Emirates.
Second half on again at Hull City.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
Song off for an injury at the interval. Diaby on for him for the second half. More bad news for Arsenal fans.
If the scores stay the same at the top of the Premiership, I'm willing to call the engravers on the Premiership title. I don't think Arsenal, Citeh or Chelski could catch United at this point. What a crazy Prem season, eh?
Free Kick from very close up coming for Arsenal. Heitinga tugged RVP.
RVP fires into a blue wall.
Bugger - evil Cardiff are level through Bothroyd.
Cardiff have tied it up
I love your thinking but I won't agree with you
Arsenal coming on to start the second half. Diaby's shot nicely blocked by Distin.
A little interview with Michael Bradely about his move to Villa
Hard shot by RVP well covered by Howard.
Everton need to counter.
I'm off to set up my classroom ahead of my 4:30 class.
Come on u Toffees
Sorry about that mate... did I tell you that my class was cancelled!!!!
As Bob leaves, I am going to announce.... it is LEEDS TIME
ESPN Just make it back for kick off

Millwall have taken the lead at Carrow Road
United have started the second half well
Getting a bit chippy as Arteta gets carded then Von Persie gets booked for shoving Arteta as he was down.
Three yellows per team, I see red in the future.

Lucky finish... hits the ball into the ground and it bounces in
Osman in for Bilyaletinov
Colchester are winning at Charlton
I thought Charlton would go up this season
Watford could be in second and Forest third!!!
YESSSSSS!!! Thanks, UWS!
2-2!
Diaby has a good run but fires it well wide off his left foot.
Bentdner in for Wiltshire.
That's Davide's 10th of the season. Not bad at all.
Colchester's goal has been taken away!!!
Chelsea have a 3v1 breakaway... both posts hit!
Bollocks.
Arshavin steps up and scores. Off one of the Everton defenders head direct to the Russian.
1-1
Villa have a free kick...Ashley Young... over
Watford v Palace... the yokshire moors have moved in
Arse Shaven scores the equalizer
Ipswich have taken the lead... big score!
Swansea are two up
Wouldn't you believe it - the bloody heat's off in my classroom! It's like a bleedin' meat locker in there. Could be a long one....
BUGGER
Bent has scored for Villa... he was WIDE OPEN!!
BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER
All things are going bad!
Arsenal trying to get the lead. Bentdner stopped by Howard.
I told you things could change after such a great start

Villa have a chance here... United need to score another
Arsenal take the lead... bugger
RVP with a good free kick stopped by Howard.

Celtic are three up
I'll keep the engravers on hold then.

Everton's lost the plot tonight.
After Colchester's bizarre non goal... Charlton have taken the lead
Just about ten minutes left at Hull.
