Premiership Plus Predictions Game 2011/12
With the 2011/12 season a mere few days away, it's time to get those crystal balls out again and make choices for who will win, who will lose and who will score the goals. Our resident Texan, MUR, won the challenge last season by correctly predicting the top seven in the exact order. Can he do it again? We'll soon see. Here are the rules for this season: * Champions (8 pts)
* Champions League Qualifiers (i.e., #s 2-4 in EPL) (3 points each plus a bonus point for correct order)
* Potential Europa League Qualifiers (i.e., #s 5-7 in EPL) (2 points each plus bonus point for correct order)
* Relegated sides (2 points each plus bonus point for correct order)
* Promoted sides from Championship (2 points each plus bonus point for correct order)
* Carling Cup winner (6 points)
* FA Cup winner (8 points)
* Europa League winner (6 points)
* CL Winner (10 points)
* Premiership top scorer (6 points)

I just had a thought.We have made our Europa League predictions based on positions 5-7.If a team finishes below 7th , but qualifies for the Europa League via the Carling or FA Cup would that count as a correct prediction for the Europa League? For Example if I had predicted that Stoke would qualify for the Europa League last year would that have been a correct prediction or are we just picking 5th-7th place? If a team like Fulham qualifies via the Fair Play League and we picked that team for a Europa League Spot would that count as a correct prediction? Your thoughts gentlemen?
I would say yes, obviously not in the correct order though.
Good question - we had that issue come up with Stoke and Brum last season. As Someone Said indicated, what I did was to assign full points for the 5-7 predictions and gave two additional points for those who guessed either Stoke or Brum (I think there was only one participant who that applied to). No one guessed either Stoke or Brum for either cup, though, so that was moot.
