We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
Two Friends Meet Up
John Terry and Anton Ferdinand meet up for the first time since the former England captain's racist melt-down at the beginning of the season. Add to that fact that both sides have plenty at stake and we should have some very tasty early morning fireworks. Join me for all the fun next.

I presume this is the post for the Sunday football matches. We start with a not so friendly match.
Here is the team news out of Stamford Bridge this morning:
Chelsea: Cech, Ferreira, Bosingwa, Terry, Cole, Mata, Essien, Lampard, Sturridge, Torres, Kalou.
Subs: Turnbull, Romeu, Ramires, Drogba, Malouda, Meireles, Hutchinson.
QPR: Kenny, Onuoha, Ferdinand, Hill, Taiwo, Mackie, Barton,
Derry, Buzsaky, Cisse, Zamora.
Subs: Cerny, Gabbidon, Campbell, Traore, Young, Smith, Wright-Phillips.
Referee: Howard Webb
There we go . Now we have a picture and that is what I thought.
Good morning BD. Any time these teams meet something extraordinary happens and every time Webbie officiates something extraordinary happens.
Can you Adam and Eve it Both matches are televised today. We don't need a link. There is that classic Neville chant or whatever you call it.
Morning, MUR! Glad to have you on board for today's festivities.
Good on FSC for treating us to both matches today.
Both matches are in the capital and both are involve a team hoping to qualify for the CL vs a team hoping to avoid that perilous exit through the trap door.
The FA have bottled it by cancelling the traditional pre-match handshakes. Shame.
Thanks , BD. It is an evil start to this morning with an Evil West London Derby.
The two bad boys Joey Barton and John Terry seem chummy enough at the coin toss. And Chelski are about to get us underway.
And we're off from the Bridge.
Now that Warnock is gone, I don't have the same antipathy toward QPR, so I'll be plumping for them today. I would prefer that they stay up.
GOAL! Oh dear - QPR are down in the dumps already, as Daniel Sturridge picks one out of the top drawer.
1-0!
They won't be so chummy during the match.Evil Qpr is wearing a ridiculous kit. They look like Evil Clowns.
GOAL !!! 1-0 CHELSEA AS STURRIDGE PLAYED AN UNINTENTIONAL ONE-TWO WITH ANTON FERDINAND.
The color guy is throwing Paddy Kenny under the bus for not covering his near post, but I don't know. If his defenders are going to back off and allow Sturridge to pick out a shot like that, what is he supposed to do?
This free kick allows QPR to have an immediate response.
Well over....
Useless free kick from Buszaky.
Sturridge was nearly in again by Ferdinand mopped up this time. QPR really under the cosh.
I can't blame anyone on QPR for the goal it was well worked three man move off a throw in and Sturridge scored with a great finish after a block from Anton. I don't see what QPR could have done to have prevented the goal.
Now Chelski are claiming a penalty as Bosingwa's shot hit's Clint Hill's arm. Webby isn't impressed.
I agree with you, MUR - there's no defending that kind of shot.
It is an evil start to the day for you, BD as you are cheering for QPR, LOL.
Chelski are now two points clear of Spurs and a point shy of Newcastle in 5th place. A strong finish to the season could see them reclaiming their CL spot even if they don't win in Munich.
If QPR still had Warnock, I'd be going the other way.
The rain is really pouring down in London. There sure have been lots of April showers in England this year. Does that mean there should be lots of May flowers? A little sun lease.
Did you know that Chelsea hosts The Toon on Wednesday and that the Toon hosts Citeh next weekend? Your opinion?
Very tough run in for Newcastle. It will show their true mettle or that they're mere pretenders.
If Chelsea win today and Wednesday then they are all but guaranteed fourth place.
A huge scramble in the box there, ending with a JT shot straight down Paddy Kenny's gullet.
A superb tip over the bar by Paddy Kenny from Lampard.
GOAL !!! TOO EASY AS JT HEADS IN UNMARKED IN THE SIX YARD BOX. I COULD HAVE SCORE THAT GOAL.
GOAL! This time JT has scored! No one picked him up as he glided in to meet that corner. Clint Hill was rooted to the pitch as he scored.
2-0!
I think Clint Hill fell asleep on that play.
QPR could slip into the relegation zone if this shellacking keeps up. Right now seven goals separate them from Bolton in 18th.
Have you been thinking about my riddle? I provided a clue last night.
Actually , QPR is not in the relegation. Their goal difference is + 8 better than Notlob.
This looks like a training match, then Tai Taiwo and Bad Guy Cisse combine well to get out of danger.
GOAL! Blimey - even Torres has scored now - where's the scream from the Neviller?
3-0!
I've been thinking about it all morning but nothing is coming quite yet.
GOAL !!! 3-0 CHELSEA HE SCORES WITH AN IDENTICAL FINISH TO WHAT HE DID IN BARCA OFF A SUPERB ONE TWO WITH MATA. ANTON WAS CAUGHT OUT OF POSITION.
This match is pretty much over. Time for Chelsea to get ready for a big match vs the Toon on Wednesday. I am betting on Chelsea.
Celtic lead Rangers 2-0 at the half in what may be the last Old Firm match in a while. Does the score really matter?
Joey Barton has an effort deflected for a corner.
A decent corner , but it is cleared, then Sturridge wins possession with a superb tackle.
And now it's 4-0! Torres with a brace!
Complete bollix between Kenny and his defenders again and the Spaniard profited.
GOAL !!! 4-0 TORRES SCORES HIS SECOND OFF A GREAT THROUGH BALL AND PADDY KENNY FUMBLES UNDER PRESSURE FORM TORRES, THEN TORRES HEADS INTO AN EMPTY NET.
The GD between QPR and Bolton is now down to 6!
I must be living in a parallel universe if Torres scored twice in one half.
What do you do if you're Sparky now? I can't imagine giving that half-time team talk and we're only half way through the first half!
Torres wins possession with a great tackle, but it was a poor pass from Kalou and the attacker would have been in an offside position.
I think he tells them to play as if its 0-0. It's all about damage control and getting ready for next Sunday.
Oh - Lamps nearly slid in for #5 there. We could have a cricket score here!
Paddy Kenny does well to save at the feet of Lampard after more chaos in the QPR defense. why is it a goal kick?
I have a feeling that Chelsea may take their foot off the pedal in the second half.
Agreed - three points against Stoke might just be enough for survival this season.
A clue for the riddle is think of what Sotton and another team have done, not just Sotton.
They better hope so because their final match is a reunion for Sparky at the Etihad and they probably will come back empty handed from that journey.
By the way, in terms of the Premiership goal tally for the weekend, we're now up to 29 - only 12 more needed from the three remaining fixtures for the record. Still possible.
Djibril looks like a beggar at a busy intersection in a metropolitan area.
It sure is. perhaps Blackburn will help us by using similar defensive tactics to QPR.
Essien gets a bollocking after sliding in on Cisse.
Michael Essien is on thin ice with Webbie after several dicey challenges.
Well wide by Essien off a blocked Torres shot.
Celtic now leads Rangers 3-0. Does it matter?
You're right about Chelski taking their foot off the gas - you can sense that already.
Boos for Anton. They should be cheering him for his charitable defending.
To me, Djibril looks more like a Bond villain, specifically from "Live and Let Die."
I think it looks bleak for QPR because I don't think 37 points will be enough to survive. They may defeat Stoke , but do you really see them picking up anything at the Etihad?
He would if he shaved off that ridiculous beard. That is why I think he looks more like a whino.
Great tackle by Shaun Derry on Danny Sturridge.
Tai Taiwo has a cross headed out for a corner by Paolo Ferreira .
The corner by Buszaky is cleared, but Shaun Derry mops up as Sturridge attempts a break.
Useless cross from Sturridge after Torres did well to put him through.
Juan Mata is down injured after a customary nasty stamp by Joey Barton.
HE'S EVIL I TELL YOU!
The sun is out for the first time in ages in London.
I agree - if Joey weren't a footballer, he'd be breaking into cars.
Oh - Torres is inches away from his first Chelski hat-trick there.
Just wide by Torres after being set up by Lampard.
The sun's out at the Bridge now, which should help dry out the soggy pitch a bit.
Three minutes of stoppage time. I bet QPR can't wait for the halftime whistle.
Halftime and not too soon as far as QPR is concerned as Chelsea lead 4-0.
Did you see my hint for the riddle?
And a remarkable half comes to an end. Will we see more goals in the second half or will Chelski settle for four?
We might see a maximum of one or two more.
Morning Boys
Chelsea suck... they can't score a single goal in 24 minutes!
Sorry I slept in boys. I didn't set the alarm and I woke up and turned the TV Torres just scored #4.
I watched the rest of half in bed
FSC have shown double headers for quite a while
The Old Firm derby is on Plus right now...last minute... 3-0
The second half is underway from Stamford Bridge.
Good morning Rip Van Winkle or is it RVW?
QPR to get the second half underway at the Bridge then. Not sure why they've bothered to come back out of the dressing room. This one's over.
I can't believe Spurs are down to SIXTH at this moment
I heard Rangers might be relegated due to financial irregularities. This may be the last Old Firm Derby in a while.
It will be interesting to see how they perform vs Blackburn later this morning.
Sturridge sure was a ball hog.
Predictably, Chelski are taking a breather and allowing QPR to play it about a bit.
Jeff Stelling said yesterday that the second place team may go up and take the place of Rangers if they go bust.... the commentator isn't sure when they meet again!
all over 3-0
Useless cross from Sturridge straight to Paddy Kenny.
Bright sunshine in Glasgow!!
Morning, UWS!
Did you guys there is a game on tomorrow???
It actually isn't on ESPN2 it is on ESPN
Celtic have defeated Rangers 3-0. It is a final score and perhaps the final Old Firm match for a while.
I will have to record it as I will be at work.
Oh - Mata was in there but he only hit Paddy Kenny with his finish.
Morning to both of you
I was asked to play for my old outdoor team this morning... I would have died out there!
Mata should have scored there
I always worry a team that starts like this in the first half that they may eclipse our nine nil
Crikey! ESPN! I'll have to dial it up at work, sadly.
Great run by Cashley and Mata should have scored , but shot right at Paddy Kenny.
I would have died out there too.
Are you going to be around Bob? I don't know if I should face the TV more tomorrow instead of the computer!
Time to go home sick tomorrow afternoon!!
Ross County have already clinched promotion to the SPL. Second place is between Falkirk and Dundee.
Oh - a ripper from Mackie there and Cech did well with it.
I am a little under the weather myself. I don't know if O can make it through the day tomorrow.
I'll be around until about 4pm.
Torres looked like the old version with the part of the first half I saw
I reckon that a Manc derby is reason enough to pull a sickie. Do it, mate!
Great tackle by Clint Hill on Shaun Derry after a superb break by Mata off the QPR corner.
Sturridge wins a corner off of Onuha
I have already asked a colleague to watch the last fifteen minutes of my last period
Lineker's impersonation of Arsene Wenger
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2136870/Gary-Lineker-does-Arsene-Wenger-impression-Video.html
video down near the bottom
Villa are the primary benefactors of this result as draws in their final two matches should be enough to keep them up. I would think that QPR and Blackburn would be favorites to join Wolves in the Championship.
Paddy Kenny does well to push away an effort from Torres,
well done, UWS. We don't have that kind of teamwork on our campus. If I want to do that then I need to take a half day off.
Great shot for Torres there, well saved by Kenny. Is he coming back into form just in time to claim a spot in the first eleven for Spain. Before the past week, I would have said that Llorente might lead the line.
Webby has lost patience with Joey Barton - yellow card.
Joey Barton receives a customary booking for a naughty challenge. He's been asking for it after that challenge on Mata in the first half.
I would think that both Llorente and Torres will be in the squad and the starting spot may come down to the training sessions. It's that tight.
Derry fouls Mata just outside the box.
I saw I got your trivia question wrong... I swear I got it with finishing in second!
Nice impression there from Lineker. I wish we got MOTD on the telly. I forget to dial up the link.
Not too far over by Mata off the free kick, but Paddy Kenny would have saved it had it been on target.
I'm still mulling it over.
Torres does get his hat-trick!!!!!
5-0!
HAT-TRICK BOY IT IS!!!
GOAL !!! 5-0 HAS HELL FROZEN OVER! TORRES SCORES A HAT-TRICK WITH A GREAT FINISH.
That's 30 goals on the weekend. Will we see 11 or 12 more in the last two matches. It's a stretch but you never know....
Remember.. United are going to win 10-0!!!!
QPR must be down . That match vs Stoke is a must win match as I see them getting naught at the Etihad in the final day of the season.
The goal scoring record attempt was hurt by West Brom and Villa AND Stoke and Arsenal
I sure hope so, UWS. I would love that.
I think fans are overdoing the "He Scores When he Wants" song. It becomes a burden for a player. Arsenal fans were singing it all day long to RVP in the Citeh match we went to. After about 75 minutes of it during a 0-0 draw, you wondered, "Well, why doesn't he want to score then?!"
Mata off for Malouda.
That is definitely true, UWS. Actually , I blame that idiot, Mark Clattenburg for not awarding two stonewall penalties.
I think QPR would prefer Citeh DO have something to play for.... they could be nervous and struggle.. it nothing is to play for they'll hit them for six
Malouda is on for Mata.
I will give a hint to the riddle. Think of what four pairs of teams have accomplished. For example, what did Sotton and a team from last season do as a pair? Does that help UWS and BD?
If Blackburn lose then surely McLeish must celebrate with a classic jig.
Does West Ham have anything to do with it?
The first hat-trick for Torres since scoring one vs Hull City in September 2009.I guess it's easy to do it against the smaller clubs.
Still mulling....
I will be generous and give you a hint.Sotton's partner is Norwich. They are like dancing partners.
Classic jeering as the Chelsea fans shouted wanker when Barton took a corner.well done Chelsea fans.
Then Cisse misses a sitter as he heads over from close range.
Ramires is on for Kalou as it is time for Chelsea to shut up shop,
Hmmmmm......
Great save by Cech as Cisse was through on goal , but he was flagged offside.
Sotton and Norwich are only the fourth pair of teams to have done this as a pair.Surely that must help. The key is what did they do a s a pair.
Well, Norwich went up as champions of L1 in 2010, then were promoted as the second placed team in the Championship in 2011. Is that it - both sides were promoted as champions and then 2nd placed in consecutive seasons?
I said that they both came second each season
SIX NIL
GOAL !!! 6-0 AS IT WAS RIDICULOUSLY EASY. SLACK QPR DEFENDING AND MALOUDA SOCRED FROM CLOSE RANGE.
Malouda pops in the 6th goal!
QPR lost the other West London Derby on the road 6-0 too.
31 goals in the Premiership - only eleven now to reach a new record.
Sam Hutchinson is on for Bosingwa in his first Chelsea appearance since April 2010.Great to see.
QPR get a goal back... nutter Cisse nets for Rangers
close enough BD. I will give you credit since you mentioned consecutive seasons. Sorry UWS. I could not give you credit for that reason. Back to back promotions to the top flight in back to back seasons has only occurred four times.
Cisse scores a consolation for QPr with a great finish.
ahh I see!
Who were the others?
Cisse's consolation goal pushes the goal tally up to 32 - only ten to go!
The QPR fans would do better to slink back to West London rather than trying to big up themselves at this point. Their side is on the end of a 6-1 hiding!
Our Nine Nil is safe
1) Derby County 1985-1987 and Middlesbrough 1986-1988
2) Blades 1988-1990 and Notts County 1989-1991.
3) Watford 1998-1999 and Citeh 1999-2000
4) Norwich 2009-2011 and Sotton 2010-2012
The only times in English football Never in three consecutive seasons.
Torres has looked good out there... just like the old version
well wide by Malouda after being set up by Torres.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
COME ON WEDNESDAY!!!!!
Blackburn win by three and they will go above QPR
Suarez with a hat-trick
Torres with a hat-trick
Will either score next week in the Cup Final??
My money would be ion Chris Powell's Charlton. They were the first team to win back to back promotions when they did so in the 1930s . who would bet against them being the first to make it three back to back seasons?
Malouda volleys it over the stands!!!
A happy fan somewhere!!
Last kick of the game
SIX ONE!!
Off for walkies
Chelsea win 6-1 as Torres scores his first Chelsea hat-trick and his first since September 2009.
Well, well, well. Chelski in stonking form. I'm off to the showers ahead of what I hope is an 8 goal thriller at Shite Fart.
Cheers UWS. See you for the next match at WHL.
See you nice and squeeky clean, BD.
Back all squeaky clean for the late one. Spurs, as we all know, have been in a rotten form since Harry's head has been turned by thoughts of taking the England job. That means that this is a huge opportunity for Blackburn - if they don't get three points today, I can't see them surviving.
We're off from WHL.
I agree 100 %. I still think Blackburn and QPR will go down with Wolves.
Blimey - the goal's in the net already! No - it's hit the side netting. LUFC Academy should have opened the scoring there.
I thought it was an early goal for Spurs after an electric run form Modric , but Lennon had a goal called back for offside.
I thought it was in. Close for the LUFC academy product.
I thought it was in. Close for the LUFC academy product.
A quick start for Spurs.
A great run for Lennon past Givet and his cross is cut out for a corner. The corner from VDV is headed away.
A poor cross from Bale is easily cleared, but Spurs maintain possession , then Sandro goes past four defenders, but it was great defending from Givet.
Big Brad looks set to have a quiet day against one of his former clubs.
We want goals! Come on, lads!
It is halftime and 0-0 as St.Mirren hosts Hibs.
Did you see that you answered the trivia question and I provided all four pairs of teams that had back to back promotions in back to back seasons.
OH! OFF THE BAR FROM SANDRO AND CLEARED FOR A CORNER.
Oh - Sandro strikes the bar with a great shot and VDV couldn't get onto the rebound. Another close call.
Both keepers are facing their former clubs.
Our other academy product looks set for a busy afternoon in the Blackburn goal today.
Blackburn seem to have weathered that early Spurs storm and have now won a corner off of Billy Gallas.
