Blogging the RNC - Day 2
I'm back from my evening class in time to enjoy the Republican's second (or first) night of festivities. Tonight's theme is "We Built This!" How Starship didn't get an opportunities to slay the RNC delegates with what must rate as one of the worst songs in rock history is a head scratcher. Instead we've the Oak Ridge Boys and a keynote address from Dunkin' Donuts poster boy Chris Christie. Should be a gas, gas, gas. Join me if you've got the stomach for it.

I was just about to fall asleep while NH Senator Kelly Ayotte was speaking but suddenly it's Ohio Governor John Kasich on stage quoting from the Black Eyed Peas. Has he taken some ecstasy? He seems a bit lit.
Now Kasich is insulting Joe Biden's golf game - wtf? Get the hook - I have a feeling he's building up to a reading of "Howl."
We've been treated to Bob "Transvaginal Probe" McDonnell from Virginia followed by Wisconsin union buster Scott Walker. Next up - Rick Santorum. Yikes - what a collection of ghouls!
Interestingly in a night of Republican governors, no one has mentioned Mitt Romney's time as a Republican governor of Massachusetts. Hmmm....
Uh oh - it's Ann Romney's turn and she wants to talk about "love." This sounds like a late night infomercial.
These "Potential First Lady" speeches are always awkward and cringe-worthy. At best, it's a scripted homily about "The Guy I Married" and at worst it's the Al and Tipper Gore Kiss.
From the perspective of a policy wonk, I don't give a monkey's about what Ann Romney thinks about anything.
From Bill Maher's FB feed:
"Looking forward to Ann Romney's speech humanizing Mitt, especially the part about how Mitt is exhausting in bed cause he can never stick to one position."
And now, with Ann Romney dispatched, it's Star Time. Chris Christie. Oh dear.
Apparently we've become "paralyzed by the need to be loved." No idea what he's on about.
Aha - "they" believe in teachers' unions while the GOP believes in teachers. That's why Christie has been laying us off, right?
Good evening, BD. I forgot the RNC . I was hoping the hurricane would hit Tampa and disrupt the RNC
Agreed, BD. They want teachers without rights. They want teachers to be bullied.
That's it. Christie has waddled off and I'm on to The Daily Show coverage.
Over and out.
