Champions League Tuesday!
It's crunch time at the Emirates tonight. After opening losses to Dynamo Zagreb and Olympiacos, this massive match-up against mighty Bayern is really a must-win. It is theoretically possible that Arsenal could still finish second even after dropping the two matches against the Germans, but it's exceedingly unlikely. I'm bunkered in the office this office following this one this afternoon. Drop on by for a cuppa if you're around, chaps.

Crikey - Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski, Artur Vidal, Douglas Costa - that's a hell of a front line for Bayern. I can't really see the Arsenal backfour keeping them out.
But...come on, you Gunners!
Good afternoon, Bob. It's an uphill battle for the Gunners. Arsene has opted for a full strength lineup for this one.
There is also action from the Championship , L1 and L2 this evening, making for a full schedule
I think the Gunners and Bayern are meeting for the third consecutive season, a horrible coincidence or is it?
They're off from the EM!
Chelsea fans hungry to watch their team can watch away to Dynamo Chicken Kiev.
Teams are out of the pitch now and getting set for kick-off.
Bellerin is offside off a nice slide rule pass from Caz
Welcome, MUR - great to have you on board for a biggie this afternoon. How are you, mate?
Lewandowski shows his danger early on.
I'm doing great. Grades were exported yesterday. Unfortunately, I need the motor replaced on my car, but I guess it could be worse. How about you?
Bayern win their first corner.Ramsey heads it away.
First opportunity for Arsenal to get going by Caz's pass finds Bellerin offside. Shame - he was in a great position.
Good news about the grades - I've got my midterms in this week.
Best of luck with the motor.
for some reason the normally reliable link seems to be buggering.
Cheers mate. I'm hanging in there
Great save by Neuer from Ozil then Theo has the rebound blocked for a CORNER THAT IS HEADED AWAY BY lEWANDOWSKI. Great counter by Alexis
PNE take the lead at Charlton. Bayer take the lead vs Roma.
Bayern fans making a late entrance tonight to protest the high cost of tickets for away fans tonight.
Oh - great chance for the Arse. Ozil with a shot that Neuer had to palm away.
Bob will not be pleased that the Evil Blades have carved their way into the lead vs Fleetwood Mac N' Cheese.
Cech does well to push away a close range effort from Thiago off a one two with Mueller.
I had heard about the Bayern fans protesting. It didn't seem to keep them out of the match .
Oh - now it's Thiago's chance to threaten. Parried away by Cech. This is crackling.
Daivd Alaba has a shot deflect off of Ramsey for a corner that is poorly taken and easily cleared, but Bayern retain possession.
Vidal is down Kos he was fouled.
The free kick from Xabi Alonso is harmlessly out of play
Bayern fans are out in numbers and in volume as witnessed by the large megaphone.
Merte clears a cross from Costa for a corner that he takes.
In form wigan are two up at the Posh.
Costa does well to turn Bellerin then forces Cech to push away his near post cross.
The corner from Costa is headed away and a Gunners break comes to naught then they try again
Caz wins a free kick
Boateng heads away the free kick from Caz
Bayer are two up vs Roma while Bristol City take a shock lead at Brighton.
Theo shoots straight at Neuer after a sliced clearance by Alaba.
Costa wins a free kick off of Bellerin . It's taken short and Vidal finds Lewandowski, who slices a shot over.
Ramsey holds back Lewandowski
Vidal is down under a challenge from Kos . Gooners fans are not pleased as it was a fair tackle and that the ref stopped play for something other than a head injury. The Gunners attack off the drop ball.
Great save by Cech from Vidal then Costa shoots wide off a cross from the left
Theo played a nice one two with Alexis, turned Alaba then shot high and wide.
Home fans are delighted as Neuer strangely gifts away a corner. The corner made its away to Alexis, who chested down the ball and shot well over, to the disdain of Arsene.
Reading take the lead at Rotherham
OH! what a fantastic save by Neuer from a header by Theo . It was just like the save by Gordon Banks at the 1970 WC. Ramsey had the rebound blocked. It was a superb cross by Nacho for Theo
Bellerin wins a Gunners corner. Great work by Theo and Alexis
The corner from Caz is headed away by Lewandowski then a foul is called on the Gunners after some head tennis
My last class is about to begin. It was great chatting. I hope to be around tomorrow. Cheers!
Hiya, mate - I'm back after a lengthy conversation with a student. Sorry about that.
It looks from your comments that it's been fairly even so far.
Arsenal are playing a very risky game with Lewandowski here.
Coming to the end of the first half here at the Emirates. I suppose the two sides will be reasonably pleased to go in 0-0.
The teams go in all square after a first half that has somehow failed to yield a goal, but did produce as good a save as you’re ever likely to see by Manuel Neuer, after Theo Walcott got on the end of a Nacho Monreal cross from the left. Bayern have bossed the possession and pass stats, but Arsenal have looked reasonably dangerous on the break.
We're back on at the Emirates for the second half now.
As we start the second half, here are the other scores:
BATE 0 Barca 0
Zagreb 0 Olympiacos 0
Kiev 0 Chelski 0
Leverkusen 2 Roma 2
Porto 2 Tel Aviv 0
Valencia 1 Gent 1
Zenit 1 Lyon 0
Danny Mills is calling out Arsene Wenger for his squad rotation process for early CL matches.
Costa fires one just over the bar.
Arsenal are barely getting a touch of the ball here, as Bayern toy with them at the beginning of this second half.
Dropping down into the Championship, Leeds are not playing tonight. It's almost fortunate that we're not playing tonight, given our recent history and form. But it does mean that we've dropped to 20th, just a point off relegation.
Oh dear - Aaron Ramsey seems to have done his hammy. He'll need to come off and that'll be a month off for him. Shame.
I do not understand that. Apparently Ramsey was out three times last season for hamstring injuries. That's just got to be a problem of not warming up properly.
Oxlade-Chamberlain to come on.
Oh - Coq au Vin should have done better when Ozil teed him up. That should have gone right in the upper 90.
Barca have scored through Rakitic to go 0-1 up at BATE.
Pjanic has scored a third goal for Roma.
Half an hour left at the Emirates now. Still no breakthrough.
Bayern fans are all bouncy bouncy not at the prospect of two changes for their lot. Alonso and Vidal being replaced by Kimmich and Rafinha - both defensive moves.
Pep Guardiola indicating there that he's happy with a point, which would put the Germans on 7 points from three matches.
Arsenal desperately need a winning goal in these last twenty minutes. Otherwise they'll need a win in Germany - tough order.
Walcott off and Giroud on now.
Giroud has been good off the bench, scoring fairly regularly.
GOAL! And Giroud has done it for the Gunners! It was scrappy and Neuer looked a bit iffy on it but they all count, don't they! Huge goal!
1-0 Arsenal!
Bayern have to come out of their shells now but they've lost some firepower. Pep may have been caught out at his conservative game.
Bayern have a free kick chance now. Gunners have to be careful here.
Thiago lofts it up and over and out of play. And Cech will take an age to get this one back into play.
Bellerin does well to win a corner now.
The corner, though, comes to nothing.
The hero Giroud has another chance on goal. Then he impedes Neuer's clearance. And gets a yellow. He's all action tonight, the supersub.
Gunners fans are agonizing over every kick now, they're desperate for this win.
Olympiacos have taken the lead away to Zagreb, which is not great news for Arsenal fans.
Monreal concedes the corner there.
Cech bobbles one out - eek!
Nearly into stoppage time now. Arsenal grinding this one out.
We’re in the final minute, with a few added for good measure to come. If Arsenal can hold on here, it will an outstanding result in the face of almost relentless Bayern pressure. They’ve had to make do with only 30% of the possession, but are 1-0 up in the only stat that matters.
A right old ding dong at Leverkusen tonight. Bayer have made it 4-4!
Oh - Lewandowski initially got around Koz but the Frenchman got back so well.
Oh - both Ozil and The Ox should have wrapped it up there!
No - it has been given for Ozil's effort and the Arsenal players are celebrating!
2-0!
That's it - Arsenal have run out 2-0 winners - massive win!
Cheerio!
Many many congrats all you Gooners out there!!
A huge win for the Gunners. Their greatest result in years. Congratulations to all Gooners.
