Welcome to the New Premiership Season!
Welcome to the new Premier League season, chaps! I couldn't be more excited to start the new season tomorrow morning. First up are the champions Leicester City at everyone's favorite relegation side Hull City, who seem to have contrived to have the very worst pre-season in Premiership history. That's followed by the traditional 3pm GMT fixtures, including Everton v. Spurs. And we end up with the tea-time fixture of Citeh v. Sunderland. I'll also have my eye on my beloved LUFC with our home opener against the Blue Noses, Birmingham City.
Enjoy the first full day of the season, chaps. And join me here on the LOB for all the action!!

Good morning, Bob. I'm excited to be joining you for the start of the new EPL season. Fred is around as he now one of Moyes Boys . Oh Boy!
The teams are in the tunnel as the Tigers players look more like sacrificial lambs while the Foxes players look relaxed , ready to prey on their victims.
Tigers fans are chanting for their owner to get out. Not the best atmosphere for a newly promoted team amidst all the turmoil.
It seems that a good number of Foxes fans made the trip to Humberside.
They're off from the KC
Mike Phelan is in as caretaker manager
Morning Boys
I'm here for kick off but only on my phone
Why did Hull even bother to get promoted
Should have been Shef Wed
Damari Gray wins the ball in midfield off of Clucas then a deflected effort is inches over for a corner
Good morning UWS. Great to have you around for the start of the new season
Corner to the Champs
Absolutely pathetic one!! I wanted Leicester to get an early for Captain Wes to score a header
The corner from Gray was cleared by the first man then the Tigers eventually cleared his return cross
Morning, boys - I've been caught out with the 7:30am kickoff and by NBC showing this one on CNBC this morning, so I'm joining you a wee bit late. My apologies. It's great to have you on board for this new season.
A free kick from Snoddy is headed out by Luis Hernandez for a corner. The Tigers nearly score off the corner as Curtis Davies heads just wide off the corner from Snoddy
Good morning, mate. You can blame this on the bloody Olympics.
Just read the predictions....Liverpool???
MUR, I'm disgusted
One interesting match up will be Hernandez vs Hernandez.
LOL, UWS. Watch me win the PPP because of that.
For what it's worth, here are the team line-ups:
Hull City (4-3-3) Jakupovic; Elmohamady, Livermore, Davies, Robertson; Huddlestone, Clucas, Meyler; Snodgrass, Abel Hernandez, Diomande.
Substitutes Kuciak, Maloney, Tymon, Bowen, Luer, Olley, Clackstone.
Leicester City (4-4-2) Schmeichel; Simpson, Morgan, Luis Hernandez, Fuchs; Mahrez, Drinkwater, King, Gray; Musa, Vardy.
Substitutes Zieler, Chilwell, Albrighton, Amartey, Kapustka, Okazaki, Ulloa.
Morning Bob
All the games today are on CNBC and this season the Sat early match starts at 7:30
Diamante heads out a long throw from Fuchs and Damari Gray has a shot nearly clear the stadium
Tom is up too
All the prediction boys are up
I'm proud of them!
I don't like the fact that there will be Friday afternoon games on this season. That provides extra matches that I will miss and need to record.
How about Fred he's up and prancing about. He's one of Moyes Boys!
Come on
Let's have a good game
Speaking of the PPP, there is a lot of interest with this match:
First goalscorer:
Vardy - Gooner, MUR, Red Devil, The Saint, Swansong, Simon and Yellows
Mahrez - Blue Devil and Someone Said
Morgan - UWS
The Seagulls defeated Forest 3-0 yesterday. A statement of intent from Chris Hughton's lads?
Good to know, UWS - cheers! I hate the Olympics by the way.
I think Captain Morgan will be more likely to score than Wes Morgan!
Nice Fawlty Towers reference
Don't mention Iceland
I said it once but think I got away with it
Nice one
Ahmed Musa could possibly score the first goal of the season. He should be a great addition to the Foxes squad.
I hate the US coverage of the olympics!
Nothing live
Yes - I forgot him - Red Devil picked him to score first.
Great tackle by Fuchs on Snoddy
Vardy with a whiff
I'm not ordinarily interested in watching water polo, archery and bloody tiddlywinks. Why would I want to watch it every four years? And i hate all of the "human Interest" nonsense that NBC trots out (e.g., so and so's daughter had cystic fibrosis, father died in Iraq). Couldn't hate it more.
Red Dragon did
The Foxes had two great chances to score. Musa led a break , Vardy missed his kick , then Mahrez sliced horribly wide. THose are three people picked by PPPers
Couldn't agree more about the human interest crap
Thank you, UWS - I thought I was the only heartless one.
I agree with you two about the Olympics. Elizabeth likes to watch them, but I can't wait for them to end. I think half the events are fixed.
What the hell are Hull doing
No cheaper prices for OAPs and kids
Hull have not only taken on a new silly name (The Tigers) but have also done away with all the concessions! Wow! What a nonsense!
Danny Drinkwater volleys wide after a long throw by Luis Hernandez was headed out by Curtis Davies.
Good Morning all . Hope you are all well . I'll be following but not texting much as I am on the phone and don't seem to be able to do it as well . Welcome to the new season !
I'm at the Worly Hotel watching .
Coming from England, where we saw one live game all year, over to the US where everything is live EXCEPT the worlds largest sporting event!!
No wonder why fans want the owners out. Greed has got the better or worse of the owners
Morning Bruv
Great to have you on board!
I'm on my phone too
Good morning, Tony . Great to have you on board. How have you been?
Ooh
Just wide my DrinkH2O
Oh - Drinkwater close to opening the scoring there. Just curled away. No one picked him, btw.
Mahrez does well to lay off to Danny Drinkwater , who shoots wide. The Foxes are starting to dominate
BOOM, BOOM! Nice Chemistry, UWS.
Morning, Chelskilad - great to hear from you. Hope you enjoy the opening day as much as we do.
Ok thanks MUR
Tony, you didn't do the predictions !!!
Did you all see the draw for the second round of the EFL Cup? Bob will be interested to hear that Leeds will be away to Luton. Bob did well to scout them , so he will realize it won't be a freebie as they easily thrashed Villa .
I was rubbish at Chemistry. If it hadn't been for Filthy Phil Milton, I'd have failed for sure.
I saw that! I'm happy with a trip to Kenilworth Road.
Fuchs becomes the first player booked this season for a late challenge on Snoddy.
Fuchs picks up the season's first yellow for a hack on Snoddy. And Hull have a free kick.
Hits it wide - decent hit, though.
Do you mean bottom of the table Leeds
Sorry commish... couldn't resist
A free kick from Snoddy is curled wide and Kasper takes a quick goal kick, Vardy wins a corner off of Robertson
Such a bad short corner
I HATE THEM!!!
Filthy Phil. I like the sound of that
Danny Simpson into the book now - an accumulation of fouls.
Danny Simpson is booked for late challenge on David Meyhler.
We had lots of nicknames for Phil. He was also dubbed "Mellow Milton" after sticking on Side Two of Heart's "Dog and Butterfly" album on a ride home from a match.
Abel Hernandez is high and wide off the free kick as he is not able to score.
I like that one too.
Vardy looks out of it
Newly promoted Rangers take the lead at Dundee.
Hull acquitting themselves reasonably well so far. Some feared that this would be a 4-0 or 5-0 rout.
I agree. Claudio has the option of replacing him with Okozaki or Leo Ulloa. If I were Claudio , I would let him know that he's not assured of being a starter.
Again, why did a Hull bother to win the playoff final. Surely Wednesday would have been better
I still feel that the Tigers wills struggle because they will probably not score many goals. That will hurt them/
Danny Simpson, heads out a cross by El Mohammedy for a corner as he was pressured by Diamande.
I saw Not a Big Club play last Sunday vs Villa. That didn't look like a team that could survive in the Prem.
Not very impressive so far from the champions of England
I think the PL should do what the NFL starting a while back... The champions should play the opening game of the entire season at home
It is a reward
I would have preferred Brighton - they play some decent football, unlike Not a Big Club.
Oh - Vardy should scored. And then Mahrez!!!
Oh - I'm so close to two points there.
Matt so annoyed with Vardy's blocked shot
Leicester go close three times
Better
I agree - they should start their title defense at home.
Me too about the Seagulls
OH!!! Three great chances for the Foxes. First, Jakupovic did well to block from Fuchs off a pass from Musa, then Livermore blocked from Vardy before Mahrez shot wide of an open goal. The best football of the match from the Foxes.
Well over by Snoddy with a long range effort.
Bloody hell - Vardy doesn't have his shooting boots on. What a miss!
BLOODY hELL !! How did Vardy miss that one? Musa won the ball off of Diamande then Laid it on a plate for Vardy, who shot well over, missing a sitter.
The good news for Leicester is that Musa looks the business.
Another miss by vardy
Told you, he's not at the races
I agree with you two as well. The Foxes should start their title defense at the KP, not KC. I agree about the Seagulls, especially after watching them yesterday
Musa crushed Barca in a friendly
Looked impressive
Great save by Kasper but Hull take the lead
GOAL! Abel Hernandez scores the opening goal for the new Premiership season!
Acrobatic effort!
Into stoppage time as the Tigers win a corner. Two minutes Kapser misses the ball and King heads out. Another corner and
GOAL !!!!! ABEL HERNANDEZ GIVES THE TIGERS A SHOCK LEAD OFF THE NEXT CORNER. KAPSER MADE A GREAT SAVE FROM A CURTIS DAVIES HEADER AND ABEL HERNANDEZ ACROBATICALLY SCORED FROM THE REOUND.
Last kick of the half
So, no one will win the 2 points for the first goal. However, the first in the pool will still get a point.
Opening goal for the chosen ones still alive?
And that's half-time - what a shocker!
The Tigers have a surprise lead at the half thanks to goal by Abel Hernandez on the stroke of halftime. Claudio will have plenty to say at the half.
Ummm . . . who scored?
Oh? Now you like my amended rule, Bobby .. .. first in the pool . . . all still to play for . . .
I think it was my amendment to your amendment that is to be liked WHR!
What?! How did you amend my amendment?
I see the big boys aren't playing until Monday this year.
Looking at these highlights, boy was Mahrez useless
Does he just want to me a gunner?
Chelsea aren't big boys anymore !!
Your ammendment was to give the points to a player picked
I said that you get an extra point for being first in pool and first overall
Ask commish and thanks for not reading my emails about it
Okay, fair point. Get it? "fair point" . .. you see you get one point for being first in the pool . . . that's a Goldy-quality pun if ever there was one . .
Good Morning, Johnno. How have you been? I like the amendment. BTW, It seems that Diamande is being credited with the goal and Mahrez seems to be anywhere, but at the match
A really poor start to the season for the Foxes. We'll see if they can dig themselves out of a hole in this second half.
Ready for second half
Will the champions react like champions?
Leicester have a penalty!!!
That didn't take long.
Penalty!!
Was it in the box? I think so
Morning, Johnno - great to have you on board.
Did anyone pick Mahrez?
Might have been a bit harsh. Gray seemed slightly outside the box but referee Dean gave it anyway.
Mahrez has been hopeless today
1-1
So, Mahrez could give me a point here.
And does!!!!!!
WOW!! Fatty concedes a penal;ty fifteen seconds into the second half, tripping Gray.
GOAL !!!MAHREZ TIES IT UP FROM THE SPOT , SENDING JAKUPOVIC THE WRONG WAY
Pomt for Bobby
Someone Said and I earn the first point of the season in the PPP.
Fans singing
We know who we are
We know who we are
Champions of England
We know who we are
Okay, why can't there be video review of that?!
"Normal Fox service is resumed?" Doesn't he realize they are on NBC?
Bob, surely you are not going to take such a cheap point??? A soft as a pillow penalty?
Cheering at the end of the season from Old Tradford...we've got are trophy, we've got our trophy back
Of course MUR's man crush on Klopp has the title going to Anfield....blasphemy for. Red Devil fan !
The ref must've thought Hull was West Ham for a split second . . . we concede the softest penalties and did so in the 95 minute against Leicester in the spring.
WHR - I believe that you were the one who insisted that we award a point for the first in the PPP pool. Ta very much, guvnor.
"Fair point," Bob, "fair point.
GOAL !!!! SNODDY GIVES THE TIGERS A 2-1 LEAD.
GOAL! Snoddy fires Hull back into the lead!
Terrible defending twice by the champs
They are behind again
Can I get another point for the first ex-Leeds player to score?
A great finish by Snoddy after a comedy of errors by the Foxes. A poor throw by Kapser then Simpson failed to deal with a cross and Snoddy finished.
Kuis Hernandez with a clumsy challenge on Diamande just outside the D
Now that the First Goalscorer has been sorted, it's on to the first Red Card. Here are the picks:
Michael Dawson - Blue Devil, The Saint
Gareth McCauley - Red Devil,
Alan McGregor - Red Dragon
Alex Bruce - UWS
Robert Huth - Simon
Shoddy with a free kick chance now.
Clips off the corner.
The free kick from Snoddy deflects off the wall for a corner.
Matt's was amended in a second email
It was Matt(the Saint) who picked McGregor
Tom picked Glen Whealon Stoke
I stick by Klopp. United should have chosen him to be manager instead of LVG. Even SAF stated that he thinks Klopp will bring back the glory days to Anfield. Alex Bruce for first red card? He's not even on the pitch
Btw Matt changed his pick because Dawson is out for months
Either is Dawson or Mcgreggor
The reigning Prem Champs have never lost on opening day. Will the Foxes become the unwanted first?
Leinster look uninterested
Mahrez too easily tackled while Snoddy was down
Snoddy's got a problem now. Fuchs knobbled him and probably should have gotten the first red card.
Good point, UWS. Some surprise starters for the Tigers? Agreed about the Foxes as well.
Snoddy showing the toughness he learned at ER as he continues on.
Naughty by Captain Morgan as he's not Abel to tackle Hernandez.
Fatty well wide with the free kcik
Bob
I made an editing mistake on the picks
I sent you a text
A double change by Claudio . Okozaki on for Gray and Amartey on for Andy King.
Good start for Okazaki - he looks lively.
I wonder why Vardy and Okozaki didn't start up front last season. They were a dangerous duo.
Agreed, Bob. Not sure why he started on the bench. I'm also not sure why Albrighton is on the bench
Curtis Davies is booked for halting Okozaki's solo run.
Jakupovic does well to turn the free kick from Mahrez around the post.
Is Huddlestone on Leicester's payroll?
Livermore and Abel clear the corner from Mahrez.
Seems like it - they must be providing him with the secret supply of pies.
I think we should do an audit. He could be.
Okozaki is over from about 25 yards out.
I think he's slimmer than in the past. Brucie must have made him run a few marathons
It was interesting when Leicester were playing well last year, they were almost playing for fun, as if it didn't matter. When they faced pressure toward the end, they didn't play very well and often won 1-0. I wonder how they'll respond to the pressure of a title defense.
Okozaki heads straight to Jakupovic off a long throw from Fuchs.
It will be more difficult this year along with the extra matches in the CL. Fatigue may be a factor. I expect the Foxes to finish around seventh or eighth this season.
Rangers win 0-1 away to Dundee to record their first win in the SPL since winning promotion.
A little more than 10 minutes for the champions to dig this one out. Looks as if Leo Ulloa will be thrown into the mix.
Musa called for a push on Snoddy
Snoddy over another free kick now...
He went for it - and Kasper punched away.
He will be on for Simpson, which means that the Foxes will be playing with four strikers
Great keeping by Kapser off the curling free kick
Clucas booked for a foul on Musa.
And now a Leicester free kick - can they make anything of it?
The final roll of the dice for Claudio as Leo Ulloa is on for Danny Simpson. The Foxes finish the match with four strikers in the pitch
They did not . Snoddy headed away the free kick from Drinkwater
Hull just need to hang on to the ball now.
Long throw from Fuchs but Morgan is penalized for a push.
Leicester don't look like they know the season started today!
Hull Premiership Champions 2017 ???
I think they will soon discover if they haven't already that this will be a far more difficult season
No urgency from the champs
Probably not. They question is if they can maintain this.
Useless cross by Musa
A professional !!!
Nice one, Chelskilad!
5 added mins
What are NBC doing with that graphic - don't they know that it's called the "Premiership!?" ;-)
Into five minutes of stoppage time.
You'd be kicked off the radio...its Premier League not Premiership
Plonker
Abel Hernandez wins a corner off of Amerty
Cheers, UWS! :-)
The Foxes need to go back to the basics and need to insert Albrighton and Okozaki into the starting lineup vs the Gunners
Into stoppage time now....
High and wide by Meyhler from long range.
I agree - play the players who won it for you.
The Foxes are playing awful
Passes ten feet going astray
Are they England in disguise
Oh - Fatty is still trying to help out the Foxes and he's given away a silly foul.
