Derby Sunday!
It's a huge day in the Premiership today with two mouth-watering derby matches on offer. We start with the Tyne and Weir Derby, the second match in charge for Fat Sam Allardyce at Sunderland. He's "feeling a tingle" at the prospect and so are we.
The late one is still one of the biggest in world football - the Manchester Derby. It's third v. fourth with the prize of landing on the top of the Premiership at the end of the day. Join me for all the fun on the LOB, eh?

Morning, chaps. This one is a true relegation six-pointer. Sunderland have had a hex over their neighbours in recent times, winning all of the five most recent meetings, keeping a clean sheet in the last three with an aggregate score of 10-1. And how badly they could do with another here to lift them off the foot of the table.
Then you have the managers. They have previous, you might have heard. This will be the 13th meeting of Sam Allardyce v Steve McClaren. The current record reads: four wins, four defeats and four draws. Factor in McClaren getting the England job in 2006 ahead of Allardyce and the latter’s short but disastrous tenure at St James’ Park. Tasty!
The teams now gathering in the tunnel at the Stadium of Light:
Sunderland: Pantilimon; Yedlin, O’Shea, Kaboul, Jones; Cattermole, M’Vila; Lens, Toivonen, Johnson; Fletcher. Subs: Van Aanholt, Larsson, Gomez, Defoe, Coates, Mannone, Watmore.
Newcastle: Elliot; Janmaat, Mbemba, Coloccini, Dummett; Sissoko, Tiote; Colback, Wijnaldum, Perez; Mitrovic. Subs: Anita, Cisse, De Jong, Lascelles, Haidara, Thauvin, Woodman.
Referee: Robert Madley
Breaking news! Tim Sherwood has been sacked by Aston Villa!
Sunderland get us underway in the Tyne and Weir Derby!
Early free kick chance for Newcastle.
Oh - Coloccini had a chance there point blank in front of Pants - but the Sunderland keeper beat it away. Corner.
Three quick corners in succession for Newcastle now. I quite fancy them in this match.
Hey bob
Still in bed and have the match on. Commenting from my iPhone
Decent start from the Toon
Pants punches clear by Jeremy Lens gives a needless foul away forty yards out.
Morning, UWS - great to hear from you. Any thoughts about Tim Sherwood? I feel sorry for him.
Not surprised about Sherwood. They have 4 points and won on opening day
Was he over his head?
Two first jobs Spurs and Villa
Yeah - but I think Villa are just rubbish after having sold their best players. I'd have Sherwood at Elland Road, no problem.
I might comment from here for the Manc derby. I can actually sit in the living room and concentrate on the match
That pong that you're smelling is Schteve McClaren who is wearing the same shirt as last weekend when Newcastle won big.
Sounds good - you must have talented thumbs, mate.
Sunderland 30%-70% Newcastle in possession.
Tiote is a thug, and he's getting a bollocking from referee Madley after crunching into Johnson.
And now he has picked up a yellow. Silly boy.
I think he'd do well at Elland Road
The job will be open in a few months.
O'Shea wafts it long and Sunderland are claiming a handball on Jack Colback. Referee Madley not having any of it.
Lots of niggly fouls out there and mostly by Sunderland but Newcastle get the first booking
Didn't notice yesterday until watching Match of the Day that the ball has changed to the winter color. I thought it went from Nov to March. It's a week early
Yedlin looks like he's shed a few pounds in the Premiership.
Yeah - I noticed it yesterday and MUR said it had to do with the change in the clocks. Same weekend. Makes sense.
Colback took too loan and then took a crappy shot. I could have done better even at my age
This is the weekend we used to change and England was always a week later
It's going to mean some early mornings for us in the coming weeks.
No, it makes it easier. There is only a four hour difference so everything is an hour later for us
Half way through this first period and still very few chances. Colback snuck in there and tested Pants for a change.
Colback with an effort just saved by Pants
Really? I can never sort that out. That's why I don't teach math, mate.
The Toon have definitely had the better of it in this first half hour.
It's better for games after school but not when I have college. I will miss the end
The late game at Anfiield is on NBC at Noon and not 11
It does get confusing because the Beeb like to use the 24hr clock for their kick offs and it doesn't match up
Sunderland have to make two changes in two minutes.
Why isn't Defoe starting
He scored that beautiful volley in first half stoppage time to win this match last year
That's why I thought we were on an earlier schedule - because the 11am match is on at 10am.
Ayoze Perez is really getting beaten up out there.
Coates gives away a dangerous free kick in the D.
Nope the Manc derby is a 2 o'clock kick off
The 4 oclocker is Pool Sotton
Free kick chance for New
Wynaldum over it - and Pants is able to tip it over.
Easy save for Pamts
Two consecutive corners
Penalty to Sunderland Coloccini blocked off his man. And he's off - that seems harsh!
Penalty for Sunderland and a red card
If it's obstruction, shouldn't it be an indirect free kick rather than a penalty? That drives me crazy!
Was it shoulder
Was it obstruction
Isn't that an indirect free kick
Johnson steps up and....scores!
And he tears off around the ground doing an airplane imitation. That's how much it means to the club.
Johnson scores
New were on top and now really under the cosh
That's my thinking, too. The color guy keeps saying it was obstruction - which was my first thought - so how is that a penalty?
Just like last year
All happening I added time of the half
And that's half time - that penalty decision and red card have really turned this one on its head. Newcastle arguably had the better first half up until that moment but now they're a goal and a man down.
Although I don't like the player going for the man and not the ball
Newcastle have made one change during the interval.
Colback has had to go off and has been replaced by Anita. Not going Newcastle's way today.
I am at my desktop right now
Your thumbs got tired?
Oh - big chance for Mitrovic - well saved by Pants.
Great save by Pants... Toon should be winning... not losing
Line ups are being announced for the real derby of the day
De Gea
Valencia
Jones
Smalling
Rojo
Schwein
Schnei
Mata
Herrera
Martial
Roon
Not liking that Jones is in
Not liking that Smalling isn't partnering Blind...they did well
Not liking that Shwein is in from the start. He seems to be overrun from the beginning... have him come off the bench
Not liking that the BBC has Roon up top alone and Martial on the left wing
I REALLY DON'T LIKE LVG
Big thumbs kept hitting wrong letters!
I will go back to it for the big one. I want to be in the living room
The last ten derbies have had 41 goals... 4.1 goals a game
A four goal thriller guaranteed
City's line up
Hart
Kompany
Otamendi
Kolarov
Sagna
Reges
Luis Rosa
DeBruyne
Yaya
Sterling
Bony
What happened to Darmian? He was playing well except against Sanchez
Bournemouth Spurs kick off at the same time as the Manc derby
Again, the BBC states kick off is at 14:05 which is 2 :05 which is normally 9:05 am but now it is really means 10
That's what confuses me
I don't like the look of that United line-up at all.
TWO NIL BLACK CATS
I feel for the Toon
I agree with you about United
LVG is clueless
GOAL! Sunderland are 2-0 up!
One more goal and Sunderland will leapfrog their Northeast rivals in the table.
I am off to the store quickly to get some stuff for Tom's bday dinner tonight
He's turning 23 on Tuesday!!
Yikes we are old
Wow - wish him my best, eh? Cheerio!
The Stadium of Light is bouncing now!
Thauvin getting ready to come on for the Toon - final roll of the dice for Schteve.
The final Sunderland substitution sees Larsson on for Lens, who did alright.
I am back to see Sunderland leap over Newcastle in the table with the third goal
GOAL! Great goal for Sunderland Finished off by Fletcher!
Fat Sam is delighted!
3-0!
Sunderland beat Newcastle every time but can't beat anyone else!!
That was a brilliant team goal with Kaboul teeing up Fletcher.
This is probably more important to Black Cat fans than is Premiership survival.
Aston Villa are rock bottom and manger less
And Schteve is now getting the Monkees "Daydream Believer" treatment.
Back to United... why play Roon up top and not Martial... he has no pace
Didn't LVG see it in Moscow???
Newcastle putting more pressure on the likes of Norwich now.
Just read in the Daily Mail that Di Maria is under pressure in Paris after his 'poor start' for PSG
I never liked him even before he came to OT... he was hopeless in the World Cup
Why was he so good at Real Madrid then?
Good morning lads. I'm back from a 5K run on in gale force winds. No wonder why Fred is so perky . His lads are about to get their first win of the season and in the derby of all matches.
Wembley is being ripped up at the moment with the Jags and Bills playing
Next week there is another game!
I finished in 22nd place and 4th in my age group for males.
Bad news for your shopping... Bills play early and everyone will free to shop by 1 o'clock
Yikes! It's a good thing Euro qualifiers have ended.
Welcome MUR
Well done!!
Game over... not deserved for Newcaslte
Thats' that, then. Sunderland jump above their Northeast rivals on the strength of that walloping 3-0 win. Great day for them and their supporters on Weirside. Toon fans will be down in the dumps.
Moving to the living room and my phone
It's over and the Black Cats not only win their first match of the season, but thrash their bitter rivals 3-0, and move of the foot of the table and above the Toon , albeit on goals scored,to third from bottom.
On my phone
Hate the line up
Thanks UWS. i'm delighted to be here for the Mnc Derby
United to win 6-0 then
It was a run for breast cancer.
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
Now it's on to the big one. The Manchester Derby. Can't wait!
Again well done
Morning, MUR - I didn't see you pop on. Well done completing that run in those kind of conditions.
I'll take a half a dozen for sure.
Matt and I had the same reaction
Oh god Tim Howard
Thanks lads. It was tough , but I did it and made it back in time for the biggie. Fred was chipper when I walked in the house and I hope we will be too.
Here comes the teams
Still no d3.14
It's going to be dimaria all over again
There is another kicking off soon as the Spuds host the Cherries. The Redknapps will have an eye on that one.
No Arlo white
Must be at anfiled
Timmy's a great keeper but a useless commentator.
Wonder when I can walk shadow. Don't want to miss match
May have to
United to get us underway in the 178th Manchester Derby!
They're off from OT
We're off
United kicking toward the Stretford End in the first half
Throw Shadow out in the backyard, you big wally!
Here's United just passing sideways. Valencia had two bad touches already
Sparky is asking too, but I think that's due to our first cool day since mid March
Bournemouth have already scored
WAY HAY! Matt Ritchie gives the Cherries the lead vs the Spuds.
The announcer said it was scored 40 seconds after kickoff/
Timmy says United have one of the highest possession stats in the league. In other words, he says that United are boring.
United have not really successfully passed forward
Gooner will be delighted.
Valencia with a poor cross thanks to pressure from Kolorov.
Why wasn't that a corner?
Valencia makes a run but fails to get it over
Should have been a corner but he can never cross the ball
Sparky is pacing, but I think Fred is napping after the exertions of a Tyne Wear Derby
Yaya should have been booked
Yaya clips Roof and gets a bollocking from Clattenberg.
Mark Clattenburg lectures Yaya for being a naughty boy then another useless cross by Valencia.
Another crappy effort to cross the ball by Valencia
Sigh
Go forward Mata
Useless by United
Would you prefer Darmian? I think I would.
A little too far by Kung Fu Panda for Rojo. That pass had a little too much punch to it.
Mata fails to find a teammate again just wants a pen
Darmian has had several poor performances where he has been caught out too many times. LVG lost patience with him/
I think Valencia is playing to be against Sterlings pace
BUGGER ! The Spuds tie it up.
That sounds about right, UWS.
Not a pen
Matas pass was to no one
Harry Kane has converted a penalty to put Spuds level. His second goal of the season.
Kane with a pen
1-1
Harry Kane won a penalty and scored a penalty. Up to that point he had been out of sync more often than the London Tubes.
We're watching the wrong match
Sterling's effort is blocked out for a corner.
Strange
United and City both play at home in the League Cup on Wednesday. Didn't know that was allowed
Sterling wins a corner off a nice one two.
Rojo heads out a corner from De Bruyne.
Useless by sterling
Should have got a shot on goal
Agreed, UWS. We should be watching the match from the South Coast. Also, that is a strange one on Wednesday.
Jose will probably be in the stands for the match at the Potteries with some lovely blue collar fans , who won't put up with any of his crap.
Lovely move by Martial and Fernandinho picks up a yellow for hacking him.
Fernandinho is deservedly booked for breaking the rules of martial arts. Pulling from behind is not allowed. Now Sagna concedes another free kick
A decent free kick from Roon is headed away then Scheiderlin prevents a Citeh counter led by Sterling
IS De Bruyne taking lessons from Valencia?
The Ginja Winga hoofs one well out.
Spurs are now two up
Spurs have turned things around. It's Dembele. Wait a minute - didn't he score for Fulham against Leeds in mid-week?
Dembele has given the Spuds a 1-2 lead at Dean Court
Tim..: POSSESSION MEANS NOTHING
I agree with Timmy that seemed a soft call as Valencia merely lost his balance. The free kick from Mata is headed away by Kolorov.
Useless by Valencia but gets a free kick
Useless delivery by Mata
Yaya wins a corner off of Rojo , who did a great defensive job.
I guess it wasn't a corner.
Mata has not found a teammate yet
United not playing badly so far.
Herrera had space to take and didn't
Room bleeding
Roon's picked up a bad head wound - he'll have to come off.
It's been pretty even so far
Fred is napping after the elation of his team's derby win.
Howard talks to much
Valencia down hurt
Valencia and Rooney both getting treatment now.
United down to nine right now
Valencia back on
Matt's comment
Still have nine
Ouch
Room being stapled
Martial attacking space!!
Mata screws up again
That was a nasty industrial looking stapler. No thanks.
Uniteds side has been below par since the half time of the Chelsea match in the 2012 season
Beat Arsenal 8-2
Three up at half time 3-0 and then crap
They won a tittle after that too but with a crappy team
The Guardian says: "This game hasn’t quite come to life yet. There’s not enough David Silva or Sergio Aguero."
I agree. I'm falling asleep.
Shoot it Bast
Rubbish free kick from the Ginja. Easily cleared.
United are a boring team
Uniteds next four
palace away
Wba home
Watford away
Leicester away
Matt thinks the sound is ahead of pic
Useless by Jones
So much for 4.1 goals a game
Unbelievably bad by Roon
More uselessness by Roon
Shoot it!!!!!
I think that Matt's right - also it's really boring. I'm headed for the magical couch in a moment.
A draw for United would not be enough to leapfrog the Irons
Mata is pathetic
Loses ball in horrible area
In the book
Now Citeh have a chance from a free kick. Toure and Kolarov over it.
Deflected out for a corner.
I'm back from picking up Melanie. Did I miss much in the last 15 minutes
OH!!!! Yaya heads just wide from a corner.
