Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Business End of the Season

Morning, chaps - we've arrived at the business end of the season, where every match counts. We start with Liverpool trying to pick up the pieces after their catastrophic loss in midweek with a match in East London against West Ham.

At 10am, we've got the usual slot of Premier League and EFL matches, including United hosting Burnley. The tea time fixture features Everton trying to secure safety against Brentford. And if that isn't enough footer for you, there's a late one between Villa and Chelsea.

Welcome!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 34 Update

Evening, chaps - I'm here as usual to update you on our PPP standings at the end of another jam-packed footie weekend. At the top of the Premier League, Arsenal and Liverpool took full advantage of Citeh's FA Cup weekend to leapfrog the Citizens with wins in their matches. In the Championship, my beloved Leeds United's big win at Boro today allowed them to leapfrog Ipswich into the second automatic promotion slot.

I've also taken note of the Champions League semi-finalists, Europa League semi-finalists, UEFA Conference League semi-finalists and FA Cup finalists.

That all means that it's presto chango in our standings, with United We Stand reclaiming top spot and the rest of us dropping off for having the temerity to back Citeh for another title win. Here are the standings in full:

1. United We Stand - 41 points

2. Blue Devil - 33 pts

3. MOT the Hoople - 32 pts

-  Red Dragon - 32 pts

-  Someone Said - 32 pts

6. Man Utd Rules - 31 pts

-  oticoN - 31 pts

-  Teddy Goalesevelt - 31 pts

9. Bee's Knees - 30 pts

10. Red Devil 1FCK - 26 pts

A Very Important Saturday!

Morning, chaps! I'm up early to have a look at Leicester City as they take on WBA,  desperate to bounce back from their recent slump in form. Of course, I'll be hoping that the Baggies can get something at the DW. Later on at 10am, we've got some relegation battles featuring Luton, Sheffield and Burnley. In the afternoon, we've got the first FA Cup semi between City and Chelsea. And the evening kickoff is Wolves v. Arsenal.

Join me if you're watching.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 33 Update

Happy Monday, everyone. I'm checking in as usual at the end of another whirlwind weekend in domestic footer and ahead of the European matches this week to update us all on the goings-on in our PPP Game. With Chelsea's 6-0 demolition of Everton this evening, Week 33 of the Premier League season came to an end. It's presto chango this week, as Man City took advantage of Liverpool and Arsenal's losses on Sunday to jump from third to first for the first time in ages. That means points all round for all but two of us. It also means a massive change in the standings, with our former leader United We Stand dropping from first to ninth. And it means - "guess who's Top of the Pops again, Mum?" for me. Yes, your trusty organizer is now holding a very narrow lead at the top.

Here are the full standings:

1. Blue Devil - 47 points

2. Bee's Knees - 46 pts

-  Man Utd Rules - 46 pts

-  Someone Said - 46 pts

-  Teddy Goalesevelt - 46 pts

6. oticoN - 45 pts

-  Red Dragon - 45 pts

8. MOT the Hoople - 44 pts

9. Gooner71 - 41 pts

-  United We Stand - 41 pts

11. West Ham Rising - 34 pts

12. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 pts

Up Early for the Leeds Boys!

Morning, boys! I'm up at the crack to watch my beloved Leeds United as we take on Blackburn Rovers in another crucial Championship match. Leicester City's loss to Plymouth yesterday opened up a door for us to run through with promotion to the promised land of the Premier League on the other side. We have to take full advantage. Daniel Farke has made a few changes from the side that drew against Sunderland on Tuesday, and a win is a must. Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 31 Update

Happy Monday, everyone. I hope you're having a good start to your week. I'm checking in as usual with an update on our PPP Game ahead of a busy midweek schedule. It was all change again at the top of the Premier League, with Liverpool being held by United at Old Trafford in a 2-2 thrillfest yesterday. That allowed Arsenal to assume top position again. At the bottom, it's the same dynamic trio - Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United propping up the division.

The Championship race is similar to the Premier League title race, with three sides vying for promotion. Leicester took advantage of two losses for their rivals to jump from third to first again, which meant some points for the PPPers. Erling Haaland and Mo Salah added to their accounts and David Raya is now streets ahead of his fellow keepers.

It all means that United We Stand continues his reign at the top with seven matches to play in the Premier League. Here are the full standings:

1. United We Stand - 41 points

2. Blue Devil - 32 pts

-  Someone Said - 32 pts

- Teddy Goalesevelt - 32 pts

5. Man Utd Rules - 31 pts

-  MOT the Hoople - 31 pts

7. Bee's Knees - 30 pts

-  Red Dragon - 30 pts

9. oticoN - 28 pts

10. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 pts

11. Gooner71 - 25 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 24 pts

Thank Goodness it's the Weekend!

Morning, chaps! It's been a minute since I've done one of these blogalongs, but I really need it today. We're just recovering from a bout of nastiness here at the Cottage, so I'm really looking forward to the football today. It all starts with a bang with the Old Farm Derby on ESPN+. Over on USA, the NBC folks are having a Fanfest in downtown Nashville, which looks like a lot of fun. They've got Palace v. Citeh as their early match.

At 10am, my eyes will be firmly on my beloved Leeds United's away day in Coventry. On USA, it's Villa v. Brentford. Finally, we end the day with Brighton v. Arsenal.

Join me if you're watching, eh?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 30 Update

Happy April Fool's Day, everyone. I'm here as usual at the beginning of the week to update you all on the PPP goings-on after another hurly burly week in domestic football. The stalemate in the marquee match of the weekend between Arsenal and Man City allowed Liverpool to leap to the top again. At the bottom, Luton fell short in another swashbuckling effort and replaced Forest in the bottom three, earning many of us three extra points.

It was all change in the Championship, with Ipswich jumping up to the top with all of its competitors dropping points. As I type, the Easter Monday round of matches is in full swing. No changes in any of the European leagues or in the table toppers in all of the major categories.

It all means that UWS continues his reign on the top, with yours truly and Someone Said trailing by seven points. Here are the full standings:

1. United We Stand - 40 points

2. Blue Devil - 33 pts

-   Someone Said - 33 pts

4. Man Utd Rules - 31 pts

-  MOT the Hoople - 31 pts

-  Red Dragon - 31 pts

7. Bee's Knees - 30 pts

-  Teddy Goalesevelt - 30 pts

9. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 pts

10. Gooner71 - 26 pts

-  oticoN - 26 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 20 pts
