Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 4 Update

As we enter the International Break, it's time to take stock of another big weekend in the Premiership. With so many surprise packages at the top (e.g., Palace, Leicester) and Chelski still underperforming, the points are still thin on the ground. Add to that, the topsy turvy quality of the European leagues, where the likes of Celta Vigo are top of the pops, and we've got deflated scores. But it's still early doors, eh?

A quick reminder that you've got until tomorrow at the close of business to submit any changes to your initial picks in the major categories. Want to change from Arsenal to Citeh as title winners? Think that Bafetimbi Gomis will end up the Golden Boot winner? Get those changes into me post haste and I'll get you sorted. (Btw, I won't take into account these changes until next week's update).

Here are the current standings:

1. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 18 points
2. The Red Dragon - 15 pts
- Yellows - 15 pts
4. Gooner71 - 14 pts
5. The Red Devil 1FCK - 11 pts
- Someone Said - 11 pts
7. Blue Devil - 10 pts
- Chelskilad - 10 pts
- Man Utd Rules - 10 pts
10. Swansong - 7 pts
11. West Ham Rising - 4 pts
- The Saint - 4 pts
13. United We Stand - 3 pts

A Rather Interesting Morning

Well, well, well. Isn't this a quite interesting morning ahead of us, chaps? We start with Leeds, who have drawn all four games so far against Not a Big Club. That's followed in short space by an underwhelming, quite un-Manchester United ManYoo side against a Newcastle team led by a Wally with a Brolly. Join me for all the high-jinks, won't you?

Two Weeks to Go...!

Just a quick reminder that, with two weeks of the Transfer Window gone, you now have two weeks from today to change your minds about your initial PPP predictions. We've seen some surprising results in the first couple of fixtures. Added to that, the big clubs will likely splash some cash around. Just today, Pedro has made the shift from Barca to Chelsea.

Think Leicester is heading to Europe? Think that Sporting Gijon is going to win La Liga? Well, it couldn't be easier - just send me your changes via email and I'll get you sorted.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 2 Update

Evening, chaps - what a difference a week makes! One week on from that odd first week in the Premiership where most of the big clubs stuttered and the top of the Premiership is starting to look a bit more ordinary, with Citeh on top and United and Liverpool in the frame. Bournemouth have also predictably fallen into the bottom three, which should be familiar terrain for them this year. It means that there are points aplenty bouncing around the game this week. It also means are current champion and "Sepp for Life" Simon is back on top defending his title with a grit usually missing from the midfield of his beloved Gunners. Here are the current standings:

1. What's Up Wheaton Simon  - 22 points
2. Man Utd Rules - 20 pts
- West Ham Rising - 20 pts
4. Blue Devil - 19 pts
- Gooner71 - 19 pts
- Someone Said - 19 pts
7. The Red Dragon - 18 pts
- Yellows - 18 pts
9. Swansong - 16 pts
10. The Red Devil 1FCK - 15 pts
- United We Stand - 15 pts
12. The Saint - 14 pts
13. Chelskilad - 13 pts

Early Morning Arsing About

Arsenal fans came into the new season with fresh hope soon dashed by an opening day loss to the Hammers. Can they bounce back at Palace this morning? Jose Mourinho was arsed off at his medical staff on the opening day. Today, his Chelski side have their first big test against high-flying Citeh. It looks to be a fantastic day in the Premiership. Join me for all the action.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 1 Update

Welcome to this season's PPP. It's officially silly season in the Premership (and consequently, here at the LOB). That means that we have the likes of Leicester, Palace, West Ham and Villa in the top five and Arsenal in the relegation zone. This all means that the points are thin on the ground. Gooner71 has raced out to an early lead, but there's no need to get Mrs. Gooner measuring the wall space for that shield quite yet. We'll be seeing quite a bit of position shifting in these early stages.

Here are the current standings in our game:

1. Gooner71 - 9 points
2. The Saint (formerly STRose) - 7 pts
3. Man Utd Rules - 6 pts
- Red Devil 1FCK - 6 pts
- West Ham Rising - 6 pts
6. United We Stand - 4 pts
7. Blue Devil - 3 pts
- The Red Dragon - 3 pts
- Someone Said - 3 pts
- Swansong - 3 pts
- What's Up Wheaton Simon - 3 pts
- Yellows - 3 pts
13. Chelskilad - 0 pts

The 2015/2016 Season Starts Here!

Are you ready for some football, lads?! Well, I'm up at the crack of dawn to ring in the new season. For the first time in my memory, all of the domestic leagues are starting in earnest on the same day, which adds an extra element of excitement to the morning. We start in about an hour with two police enforced early, early kickoffs in the Championship, including my beloved kicking off at the sacred Elland Road against Burnley. That's followed quickly with United's opener against Spurs. At 10am, we get a look at all three newly promoted sides. Finally, the titleholders kick off at 12:30 at Swansea. Join me for all the action this morning.

The Curtain is Raised!

It's time to raise that curtain again. Without a World Cup or Euro to watch this summer, it seems like ages since a ball was kicked in anger. That all changes this morning as we get a chance to view the prospects for the current champions Chelski and the FA Cup holders Arsenal. Join me from 10am EST for all of the fun, won't you?
