Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Saturday Night and Sunday Morning

I'm getting a late start to the action on Peacock this morning after a late night watching telly with Kate. Chelski are currently 1-0 up and on their way to a first win under Tommy Tuchel. That's followed by my beloved Leeds boys visiting Leicester. The Foxes did us over 1-4 at Elland Road back in the fall, and I don't expect much from this encounter. Based on my patented survival rubric, we don't need any points from this morning's match, so we can just go out there, relax and have a bit of fun. That's followed by another intriguing fixture - West Ham hosting Liverpool, a real test for the title holders. If that's not enough footer for you, Spurs visit the South Coast to meet Brighton in the late one. Join me for all the action, won't you?

Get up for the Prem!

Wake up, boys - it's time to watch some football! We start today with Everton v. Newcastle. Everton have gone a bit off the boil since their thrilling early season form but nothing like Newcastle's rotten form. After that, the 10am fixtures includes top of the table Citeh against bottom of the table Sheffield United. Those are all amusements ahead fo the main attraction - Arsenal v. United - at tea-time. IF you're still not satisfied, there is the usual Peeacock late offering of Soton and Villa. Join me, won't you?

A Spot of Thursday Action

I've hit my morning work goals, so I'm rewarding myself with a spot of Thursday Premier League action. We've got a fascinating encounter this afternoon - Liverpool visiting Spurs at the new Shite Fart Lane. Neither side is in great form. Spurs in 6th have won two, drawn two and lost one in 2021. However, reigning champions Liverpool in 5th now have had a castastrophic New Year period, with a run of form that's exactly the same record as Fulham in 18th. The goals have really dried up somewhat inexplicably. So, something's got to give. I'd be happy with a 3-3 thrill-fest. Join me to see all that happens, chaps!

Midweek Footer Madness!

Afternoon, chaps! There are so many Premier League fixtures about today, it feels like a Saturday. It also feels like forever since I had a chance to watch my beloved Leeds boys. The last time out, we went down miserably to a useless Brighton side at Elland Road. It's high time that we got our season back on track. We've already beaten Newcastle once this season - a 5-2 romp back in November at ER. Based on my patented rubric, we only need a point today against Magpies, but a win against an out of form side would be lovely. At the same time, we've got a London Derby between Crystal v. West Ham - I'll take a Hammers away win in that one, ta very much. Later on, we've got a replay of Southampton v. Arsenal on NBC Sports and Man Citeh v. West Brom on the Cock. Join me for all of the Super Leeds action, won't you?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - FA Cup Update

Hi there, PPPers. I thought I'd update you all on our standings at the end of the 4th Round FA Cup action today and before we got into the hurly burly of another slate of mid-week Premier League fixtures tomorrow. With Man Utd still at the top of the league at present, the Red Devils fans are still riding high on our charts. We've got a new table-topper this week - The Saint - who is currently nudging out West Ham Rising. The big news this week is that both FA Cup holders Arsenal and Premier League champions Liverpool were both knocked out of the Cup this weekend, which I've noted on the attached worksheet. A couple of us have also benefitted from Man Citeh keeper Ederson rising to the top of the Golden Glove chart with 10 clean sheets now. With that, here are the current standings: 1. The Saint - 39 points 2. West Ham Rising - 34 pts 3. MOT the Hoople - 32 pts - United We Stand - 32 pts 5. The Bee's Knees - 27 pts - Teddy Goalsevelt - 27 pts 7. Swansong - 24 pts 8. Anfield Warriors - 23 pts - Man Utd Rules - 23 pts 10. Red Dragon - 21 pts 11. Blue Devil - 20 pts - Red Devil 1FCK - 20 pts 13. Gooner71 - 19 pts 14. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 17 pts 15. Someone Said - 14 pts 16. Pink Kits - 4 pts

The Biggest Match of the Round

It's still the biggest rivalry in English football and it's the fixture that lights up this round of the FA Cup this season. Manchester United v. Liverpool - it's a match up that conjures up so many memories, including the one pictured above. Let's hope that this latest edition lives up to the promise. I'll be helping out Kate with some projects this morning, but I'll be looking forward to joining you for the proceedings.

Fourth Round Saturday

Happy Fourth Round Saturday, everyone! I'm up with the chickens to enjoy the early offering - Southampton v. Arsenal. After that, it's a right old Cup smorgasbord throughout the day, with West Ham v. Doncaster perhaps the highlight of the 10am EST hour and then Cheltenham v. Citeh at tea-time. There's even a Premier League offering - Newcastle v. Villa - at the end fo the day. Join me for all the Cup action, won't you?

The FA Cup 4th Round Begins!

Afternoon, chaps! We've got an intriguing fixture on board to start the FA Cup 4th Round today. Little Chorley of the National League North will host the Premier League's Wolves. Chorley got here by dispatching Wigan, Peterborough and the Derby kids in previous rounds and they'll fancy their chances for an upset today. Wolves are in wretched form at present, with only a point from the previous five Premier League matches to show for themselves this year. Join me on the Plus for all the action.

A Tale of Two Manchester in Midweek Premier League Footie

There are two key midweek matches involving Many clubs where one of them is very likely to end today top of the table. As I type Weekend any Bernie's gives Citeh lead vs Villa in midweek. That means that United will be expecting the typical generous hospitality from the Cottage in the late match

A Really Huge Sunday Triple Header of Premier League

It's a Sunday Triple Header of Premier League Football and starts with an evil fixture as the last place Evil Blades host the Spuds. That is followed by the marquee matchup of today and perhaps the season as Liverpool vs United kicks off at 11:30 AM from Anfield as it's third vs first. It's probably the most heated rivalry in English football and in recent years has proved to be a disappointing fixture. Hopefully, that is not the case today. If United win then they go four points clear pop the second placed Foxes ahead of Citeh vs Palace in the late fixture.. If the other Man Club wins and United win  then the two Man Clubs will occupy the top two spots , separated by three points. The opening act is on NBCSN with the two later matches on the Cock. Another Big Saturday in the Prem

Morning, chaps! I'm settling in with my morning cuppa and looking forwrrd to another big Saturday in the Premier League. First up is the Black Country Derby between Wolves and WBA. Then at 10am EST, my beloved Leeds United hosts Brighton. The Seagulls are the kind of side that we need to be be beating at home, so three points is a must to bounce back from our two successive 3-0 losses in recent weeks. The 12:30pm marquee match is the West London Derby between Chelsea and Fulham. Finally, the late one on Peacock features Leicester and Southampton. Join me for all of the usual action here on the LOB!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 18 Update

TGIF, everybody! I thought I'd pop in with a quick update on our PPP game before we get into the hurly burly of another Premier League weekend. It's been all change this week, with Manchester United rising to the top of the league with their make-up win over Burnley. That means that our resident ManYoo fans are also Top of the Pops. Liverpool have falled to second, with Man City rising to third. We're still losing points from the likes of Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal outside of the top five. The picture is the same at the bottom, while Norwich and Bournemouth continue to impress in the Championship. We're losing points in Europe, as well, as Atletico and AC Milan continue on top of their respective leagues. Mo Slah continues on top of the goalscoring charts with 13, while Harry Kane has expanded his total of assists to 11. So, here are the current standings: 1. United We Stand - 35 pts 2. The Saint - 33 pts 3. MOT the Hoople - 30 points 4. West Ham Rising - 29 pts 5. Teddy Goalsevelt - 27 pts 6. Swansong - 24 points 7. The Bee’s Knees - 23 pts 8. Blue Devil - 21 pts 9. Red Devil 1FCK - 20 pts 10. Man Utd Rules - 19 pts - Red Dragon - 19 pts 12. Anfield Warriors - 18 pts - What’s Up Wheaton Simon - 18 pts 14. Someone Said - 15 pts 15. Gooner71 - 14 pts 16. Pink Kits - 4 pts

Footie or Impeachment - That is the Question

Happy Wednesday, fellas! I've got mixed loyalties today. We've got two intriguing top v. bottom Premier League matches on board. At the same time, the House of Representatives is set to impeach Donald Trump for a historic second time. So, I'm posting this here for us to chatter but I'll be a bit in and out of festivities for obvious reasons.

Premier League Football Resumes on a Tuesday Afternoon

There are three matches on this afternoon and it starts with a match that doesn't seem to interest us. The Evil Blades vs the Toon kicks off at 1 PM. The big one is at 3:15 PM Burnley vs Un    `on NBCSN . Wolves vs the Toffees kicks off at 3:15 PM as well on the Cock. It's a must win for United as this is their game in hand and they can go three points on top ahead of Pool before the  big showdown on Sunday

Sunday FA Cup Action!

Premier League survival is the priority for my beloved Leeds United this season, os a run in the FA Cup is something of a luxuty. Still, this morning's 3rd Round opponnents are League 2's Crawley Town, so I want to see us play some expansive stuff, for the boys to score early and to fill their boots a bit. Come on, you Leeds! MOT!

The Third Round Continues....

I'm up with the chickens to follow this morning's FA Cup Third Round action. It's hard to choose which match to watch, but I've settled for the time on Everton v. Rotherham, although I may move over to Chorley v. Derby based on MUR's recommendation from yesterday. I hope you'll join me this morning.

The 3rd Round FA Cup Magic Begins!

Afternoon, chaps! This is always one of my favorite moments of the footie season. The 3rd Round of the FA Cup may not mean a lot to the big moneymen in the game these days, but it's still magical to me. Marine v. Spurs - what a fixture?! So, I'm looking forward to settling in to watch the two matches on offer this afternoon. I hope you'll join me for the proceedings from 2:45pm EST onward on the Plus.

The BIG League Cup Semi Final!

So, United meet City in a Manchester derby again in a League Cup semi final. Spurs waiting for their fellow finalists to book their place at Wembley. United beat City a few years back with a late Rooney winner at Old Trafford. Last season, United lost at home but won away but lost on aggregate. This season, there is only one leg and United host their intercity rival. Can United start winning semi finals again? We lost three last season.... A new season.... A new outcome!

An Abbreviated Sunday Schedule

It's an abbreviated Sunday schedule for me as the early one involving the COVID-challenged Fulham outfit was postponed was canceled and I didn't really fancy the Newcastle v. Leicester match-up. So, I'm just settling in with a cuppa to join that one and look forward to the big marquee match of the weekend between Chelsea and Man City. Join me for the preliminaries and the big match.

Footie for the New Age

Morning, chaps - it's another big day in the Premier League for my beloved Leeds boys. After two successive wins against Burnley and WBA, we can breathe easy and approach this morning's match against the Spuds at Shite Fart Lane with a sense of adventure. Of course, I fully expect Kane and Son to rip our injury-ravaged, make-shift defense defense apart. I only hope that we continue to play open and entertaining football with a sense of enjoyment. Later on, we get Palace v. Sheffield Utd, Brighton v. Wolves and WBA v. Arsenal. Join me for all the New Year footie action.

New Year Footie!

Happy New Year, everyone! We start 2021 with a couple of champagne fixtures this afternoon. Everton take on West Ham at Goodison in a tea-time fixture. That's followed by Man Utd hosting Villa at Old Trafford. Let's hope that our teams all get off to a winning start in the New Year. Join me for all the fun and games today, won't you?
