Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 38 Update

Hiya, PPPers - we've reached the end of an extra long and extra weird Premier League season finally. Now, that doesn't mean that the season is over, mind you, so I thought I'd update the standings before we get into a busy schedule including the Cup Final tomorrow, the Championship Playoff final on Tuesday and the Europa League and Champions League knock-out rounds starting later in the week.

Liverpool are champions, with City, United, Chelsea and Leicester definitely joining them in Europe. the other possible Europa League slots are still to be determined, though. At the bottom, Bournemouth, Watford and poor old Norwich were relegated. In the Championship, my beloved Leeds (champions!) and WBA were promoted automatically, while Brentford and Fulham will play for the playoff promotion spot in the most lucrative football match on the planet on Tuesday afternoon.

In Europe, Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern Munich claimed the title in their respective leagues. Jamie Vardy claimed the Golden Boot title, with 23 goals, just edging out Pierre Emerick Aubameyang on 22 goals. Kevin de Bruyne ran away with the assist award, with 20.

As you'll see below, that means that our current champion MOT the Hoople is in pole position on 42 points to retain the Shield for another season. He's out of the Cup but has picked Roma in the EL and City in the CL, so he could still pick up points there. His nearest competitor, Swansong, could pick up 2 points for a Chelsea loss tomorrow and six points for a Barca win in the CL, which would put him over the top with 45 points. It should be riveting.

So, here are the current standings:

1. MOT the Hoople - 42 points
2. Swansong - 37 pts
3. West Ham Rising - 34 pts
4. Blue Devil - 32 pts
-   Someone Said - 32 pts
6. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 25 pts
7. Man Utd Rules - 24 pts
8. The Bee's Knees - 22 pts
-   Pink Kits - 22 pts
10. United We Stand - 19 pts
11. Yellows - 17 pts
12. Gooner71 - 16 pts
-   Red Devil 1FCK  -16 pts
14. Red Dragon - 15 pts
15. The Saint - 14 pts

Premier League Finale

So, it is Mid-May and we are finishing off another league season.... wait... I mean Late-July and we are finishing off another league season! Of course, we won't see a 95, 96, 99, 12 and others that the title is still up for grabs. Sadly, Liverpool ruined that for us back in December!(I'm wearing my asterisk shirt) Luckily enough there is still many things to play for today. There are five games that have importance and 5 that do not. I am pleased to see NBC are focusing on those five games and not their beloved Liverpool and City.
The Champions League places are up for grabs as 5th plays 3rd and 4th plays 6th. United need a draw or better at the King Power to clinch a spot....or a Chelsea loss... COME ON WOLVES
As at the top, the bottom spots are up for grabs. Two out of Villa, Watford and Bournemouth will be passing the mighty Leeds coming the other way on the road between the Premier League and Championship.
Of course, today is the Final of my Fantasy Team...I am taking on a Liverpool fan!!

Here is the schedule
Leicester C vs Man Utd  NBC
Chelsea vs Wolves  USA
West Ham vs Aston Villa  NBCSN
Everton vs Bournemouth  CNBC
Arsenal vs Watford  Golf Ch

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 37 Update

As we approach the final set of Premier League fixtures for the season on Sunday, I thought it was high time to check in on the standings for our PPP game. So what's happened in the past week? Well, Liverpool and my beloved Leeds have been crowned champions of the Premier League and Championship. United have claimed the third CL slot, pushing Chelsea down to fourth and Leicester into the Europa League slot.

In the Championship, after a wild final day of fixtures on Wednesday, WBA were promoted alongside Leeds (champions!), leaving Brentford, Fulham, Cardiff and Swansea to battle it out for the final playoff promotion spot next week.

So, what's left to sort out? Well, the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards are due to be announced later today. The FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea is on Saturday week, followed by the wrap up of the Champions League and Europa League during those first weeks of August.

So, here are the current standings:

1. MOT the Hoople - 42 points
2. Swansong - 37 pts
3. West Ham Rising - 34 pts
4. Blue Devil - 32 pts
-   Someone Said - 32 pts
6. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 25 pts
7. Man Utd Rules - 24 pts
8. The Bee's Knees - 22 pts
-   Pink Kits - 22 pts
10. United We Stand - 19 pts
11. Yellows - 17 pts
12. Gooner71 - 16 pts

Footie Trivia of the Week

TROPHY DAY

So today is the day that Liverpool and Leeds get their hands on their prize!! Besides the trophy presentations there are other things to be decided today! We start off with my beloved Manchester United taking on West Ham in a crucial match in the chase for the Top Four. It is very strange that United could get two points from the last two games and qualify for CL BUT could get 3 points and not!!! Today could make the path easier! A win by 3+ goals would mean United could lose by a goal at the King Power and still qualify! Chelsea's visit to the Champions in the late match... come on you Reds!!(I hate to say that)
With Leeds having sewn it all up... an easy afternoon for Our Bob!! Baggies and Bees are going to be on pins and needles with their matches. Advantage Bags after the weekend!
Lots to be decided at the bottom.... muddied further with points reduction scenarios
Also, a big day for my Fantasy Team... I need to make up some ground but I have enough players to take me over the line.

Could Leeds Be Champions?

I'm still on a promotion high from yesterday afternoon, but I'm up early to see if Leeds can be crowned champions of the Championship this morning. The recipe is easy. If Brentford drop any points in their match against Stoke, we're top of the pops.

Later on today, Norwich v. Burnley (snooze) and then the Arsenal v. Citeh FA Cup semi-final.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 35 Update

Hiya , PPPers! With ManYoo's 2-2 draw with bogey team Soton yesterday, Week 35 of this weird domestic season came to an end. Before we jump into the next set of matches today, I thought we should take stock of our standings.

Very little changed this past week - the only exceptions are that Chelski and Leicester have now swapped places in the top four and Bournemouth and Villa have swapped places in the relegation zone after the Cherries' thrilling win over Leicester on Sunday. Despite that loss, Jamie Vardy continues on top of the Golden Boot race, now on 23 goals and seemingly unstoppable.

So only a couple of us gained points this week and none of us lost any points. Here are the current standings:

1. MOT the Hoople - 43 points
2. Swansong - 37 pts
3. West Ham Rising -36 pts
4. Blue Devil - 35 pts
5. Someone Said - 30 pts
6. Man Utd Rules - 24 pts
7. The Bee's Knees - 22 pts
-  What's Up Wheaton Simon - 22 pts
9. Red Devil 1FCK - 19 pts
10. Pink Kits - 18 pts
-   The Saint - 18 pts
-   United We Stand - 18 pts
13. Red Dragon - 17 pts

15. Gooner71 - 16 pts

Sunday Crunch Time!

We've got another big Sunday morning of Project Restart football ahead of us. I decided to have a bit of a late start lie-in through the first half of Wolves v. Everton, but I'm here with bells on for kick off between Swansea and my beloved Leeds United. It's another big one for us and a chance to inch closer to promotion.

Later on, we've got the North London Derby, one of the biggest fixtures on paper in the Premier League. European spots on offer in that one. So, grab your brekkies and join me, won't you?

Pedal to the Metal!

This weekend feels like the crunch time for domestic football with lots at stake. We start today with a relegation six pointer - Norwich v. West Ham - for example. At the same time, we've got promotion hunters Brentford at Derby. Of course, I'm hoping that Wazza and co. can do more for us than they did the other day.

Later on in the day, we've got the European challengers Sheffield United and Chelsea doing battle and West Brom traveling to Blackburn. I'd take a draw in both of those matches, wouldn't you?

So, bring on the good stuff and join me for a cuppa this morning.

Footie Trivia of the Week

The 606 pod had another corking trivia challenge this week, in honor of the 4th of July holiday. Here it is:

How many of the 26 Major League Soccer teams can you name (btw, you can't just toss out the city; you have to give the full team name).

Get to it, boys!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 33 Update

A very happy Monday morning, everyone! I hope that you enjoyed a great footie-filled 4th of July holiday. I thought that it was high-time I updated the PPP standings after a hurly burly week of the good stuff. A week on, we're still largely in the same place that we were, with Liverpool having now secured the title (and the four of us who plumped for them 10 points in the PPP). It'll then be difficult for anyone outside that group to win the Shield this season.

The top of the Premier League is the same, but Villa and Bournemouth have changed places, with a consequent gain or loss of one point for some of us. So too have my beloved Leeds United and West Brom, now #1 and 2 in the Championship.

In Europe, Real Madrid have now pipped Barca at the top of La Liga, so that's a loss of two points for many of us. Finally, Jamie Vardy continues to run away with the Golden Boot, with 21 goals now. So too KDB, with 17 assists now.

So, here are the current standings:

1. MOT the Hoople - 43 points
2. Swansong - 37 pts
3. West Ham Rising - 36 pts
4. Blue Devil - 34 pts
5. Someone Said - 30 pts
6. Man Utd Rules - 24 pts
7. The Bee's Knees - 22 pts
-   What's Up Wheaton Simon - 22 pts
9. Red 1FCK - 19 pts
10. Pink Kits - 18 pts
-   The Saint - 18 pts
-   United We Stand - 18 pts
13. Red Dragon - 17 pts
-   Yellows - 17 pts
15. Gooner71 - 15 pts

How About Some Sunday Footie?

I'll be honest, chaps - the Premier League schedule isn't thrilling me today, so I've taken the chance to get some extra kip. Kate and I will be repainting our front porch today, so I'll be a bit in and out. But I thought I'd post this thread for those of you watching the matches. Enjoy!

Independence Saturday!

Is it Saturday? These days it is hard to tell. Not going to work AND football on EVERY DAY! A full slate of matches today on docket. Norwich/Brighton have already started a "watch if you're up" match. The Clough derby(including Derby) has started as well. Of course, the two Uniteds both have games at 3 o'clock...will they get 3 points? Man Utd are on the telly... but no coverage of Leeds Utd!

It's Time to Watch Football!

I'm home from work and Kate's working on an editing project this afternoon. You know what that means, chaps - it's time to watch some football. Join me this afternoon for Sheffield U-Bite It v. The Spuds and newly crowned champs Liverpool against their main rivals Man Citeh.

A Brain Tickler for a Thursday Morning

Okay, chaps - here's your test for this Thursday morning. I heard this one on the 606 pod over the weekend and thought you might enjoy it.

There have been 48 players who have made 100 appearances or more for Liverpool in the Premier League. Can you name 10 of them? Go on!
