Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Leeds at the Bridge

It's a big Cup night for my beloved Leeds United tonight, as we travel to the Capital to meet up with our old nemeses Chelsea. There's plenty of history in this one, including that notorious 1970 FA Cup replay, often termed "the dirtiest match in football history." There will be plenty of needle tonight, for sure. We're in sparkling form, having won 10 matches, including nine on the trot in the Championship and the Cup replay against Plymouth in the 4th Round, in 2024. So, come on, boys - let's keep the momentum going. #MOT!!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 26 Update

Evening all! I'm back as usual to update our standings in the PPP after another hurly burly week in domestic football. The big news from the weekend was the awarding of the first major silverware of the season to Liverpool for defeating Chelsea 1-0 in extra time in the League Cup. That meant six points for a couple of us, as well as two points for a couple who picked Chelsea for a sad day out at Wembley.

At the bottom of the table, the FA have thrown the table into a bit of turmoil by relaxing the penalty on Everton to a five point deduction, vaulting them into safety in one fell swoop. I have a feeling that we haven't heard the end of FFP this season, so stay tuned.

The only other news this week was Citeh's Ederson joining Jordan Pickford and David Raya on 10 clean sheets.

It all means that UWS still have a healthy lead at the top but there are now five players on 33 points, only eight points off the top. Here are the standings in full:

1. United We Stand - 41 points

2. Blue Devil - 33 pts

-  Man Utd Rules - 33 pts

-  MOT the Hoople - 33 pts

- Red Dragon - 33 pts

-  Someone Said - 33 pts

7. oticoN - 32 pts

8. Bee's Knees - 31 pts

9. Teddy Goalesevelt - 30 pts

10. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 pts

11. Gooner71 - 25 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 23 pts

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 25 Update

Evening, all - I'm here as usual on a Tuesday to update all of you on our PPP standings. There were a couple of changes that affected our game this week. First, Everton and Luton swapped places at the bottom of the Premier League, something that is likely to continue as the season winds down. In the Championship, my beloved Leeds consolidated their place in the second automatic promotion race with an eighth win on the trot in the league, while Southampton lost to Hull today. Erling Haaland notched his 17th goal today to carry Citeh to a narrow win over Brentford today. Kieran Trippier joined Ollie Watkins again in the hunt for the Premier League assists champion. And Arsenal's David Raya joined Jordan Pickford in the Golden Gloves lead.

It all means that United We Stand has extended his lead at the top of our charts to eight points now. Here are the latest standings in full:

1. United We Stand - 41 points

2. Blue Devil - 33 pts

-  MOT the Hoople - 33 pts

4. Bee's Knees - 31 pts

-  Red Dragon - 31 pts

6. Teddy Goalesevelt - 30 pts

-  oticoN - 30 pts

8. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 pts

-  Someone Said - 27 pts

10. Gooner71 - 25 pts

-  Man Utd Rules - 25 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 21 pts

An Early Morning on the South Coast

Morning, boys! I'm up with the chickens to follow my beloved Leeds boys as they travel to the South Coast again to meet up with Plymouth Argyle for the fourth time this season. We've beaten the Pilgrims twice, so I'm confident that we can notch an eighth win on the trot, which we need in order to keep up with the top two.

If you prefer some Premier League action, Brentfor and Liverpool are going at it at the same time. That's followed sharpish by the usual 10am fixtures, including Burnley v. Arsenal on the box. The late one then is City v. Chelsea, which used to be a big match but now is a routine outing for the Citizens.

Join me around the blog, won't you?

If it's Tuesday, it Must Be Leeds Time!

As ESPN isn't favoring us with telly coverage of my beloved Leeds United this afternoon, I'm following the radio commentary instead. Daniel Farke's side is in terrific form right now, with six league wins on the trot to start 2024. So, I'm hoping we'll continue that trend today as we travel to South Wales to meet with Swansea City. Come on, you Leeds boys! #MOT!!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 24 Update

Evening, all! I hope that you're enjoying a good Valentine's week. With Chelsea's come-back victory against Palace this evening, we came to the end of Week 24 of the Premier League schedule. Much of it is as you were. The exceptions are Spurs and Villa switching places due to Villa's loss at the hands of United yesterday and Coventry jumping back into the playoff positions in the Championship promotion race.

Given that, United We Stand continues to rule the roost in our game, albeit now by only six points. Here are the standings in full:

1. United We Stand - 38 points

2. Teddy Goalesevelt - 32 pts

3. MOT the Hoople - 29 pts

4. Bee's Knees - 28 pts

-   Someone Said - 28 pts

-   oticoN - 28 pts

7. Blue Devil - 27 pts

8. Gooner71 - 25 pts

-   Red Devil 1FCK - 25 pts

10. Red Dragon - 24 pts

11. Man United Rules - 22 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 21 pts

Saturday...Saturday...Saturday is Football Day!

Morning, boys! After a busy workweek, it feels great to settle into my favorite armchair and to follow some of the good stuff. It all starts with Man City v. Everton, which presents Pep Guardiola's side with a chance to take top spot at least temporarily. That's followed sharply with their main rival Liverpool's chance to snatch back that top spot with a home match against woeful Burnley.

At the same time, I'll have all off my eyes on Elland Road where my beloved Leeds United are hosting woeful Rotherham. I'm hoping that we fill out boots with goals against the bottom feeders. At the end of the day, Forest take on Newcastle.

Join me for a natter if you have a chance.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 23 Update

Happy Tuesday, PPPers! We finally put the Premier League's winter break behind us and had a full slate of domestic footer this weekend. That was highlighted by a dramatic win for Arsenal over their title rivals Liverpool on Sunday, which tightened up the top of the table. At the bottom, Everton dropped into the relegation zone again with Luton engaged in a rip-roaring 4-4 draw at Newcastle. So, some points were dropped there, as most of us fancied the Hatters for the chop.

It was all change in Europe with Real Madrid assuming their usual position on the throne in La Liga, while Juve nudged their rivals aside once again. Leverkusen continue to defy odds in Germany. Jordan Pickford is now the sole goalkeeper on 8 clean sheets, so those who plumped for Alisson lost a couple of points.

It all means that United We Stand continues on top with a seven-point lead. Here are the standings in full:

1. United We Stand - 39 points

2. Teddy Goalesevelt - 32 pts

3. MOT the Hoople - 29 pts

4. Bee's Knees - 28 pts

-   Blue Devil - 28 pts

-   Someone Said - 28 pts

7. oticoN - 27 pts

8. Red Devil 1FCK - 25 pts

9. Red Dragon - 24 pts

10. Man Utd Rules - 22 pts

11. Gooner71 - 21 pts

-    West Ham Rising - 21 pts

Feels Like Groundhog Day

Morning, chaps! We're finally beyond the odd little "Winter Break" and have a full slate of Premier League fixture this weekend. It all relegation-threatened Everton taking on high-flying Spurs at Goodison Park. This already feels like a must-win for the Toffees. The 10am matches are a bit rubbish to be honest but perhaps Newcastle v. Luton is worth a look. The late one is another chance to see the Evil Blades get mullered.

Come on by for a natter, eh?
