Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Penultimate Update

Hiya, PPPers - I'm here this week to update you on the three big matches that happened this week and the effect that they had on our game. First, on Saturday, Man Utd pulled off a shock win over their city rivals in the FA Cup Final. That meant eight big points for Bee's Knees and Red Dragon. Several players opted for a Citeh win and lost out on the day.

The next day, my beloved Leeds United went down to a big loss in the Championship Playoff Final to Southampton. So, those who had the Super Whites among the promoted sides lost three or four points and those who opted for the Saints gained those points.

Finally, this evening, Olympiacos bested Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League Final. That netted Someone Said, the only one to pick the Greeks, two points. Red Devil chose the Florentines, so sadly lost out on those points.

In the end, the FA Cup win vaulted Red Dragon, our current champion, and Bee's Knees to the top of the charts. So, by my calculations, it will all come down to the Champions League Final on Saturday. Red Dragon is already out, as he plumped for Man City to win, while Bee's Knees went with one of the finalists Real Madrid. So, Red Dragon will retain the Shield if Dortmund manage to defeat Real and Bee's Knees will pick up the Shield for the first time if Real win out. It couldn't any more exciting!

Here are the current standings:

1. Red Dragon - 52 points

2. Bee's Knees - 51 pts

3. Blue Devil - 48 pts

-  Someone Said - 48 pts

5. Man Utd Rules - 46 pts

6. oticoN - 45 pts

7. Teddy Goalesevelt - 43 pts

8. MOT the Hoople - 42 pts

-  United We Stand - 42 pts

10. Gooner71 - 40 pts

11. West Ham Rising - 34 pts

12. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 pts

The Richest Match in the World!

Okay, boys - it's here. The EFL Championship Playoff Final - the "richest match in world football." My beloved Leeds United will take on Southampton at Wembley. At stake is the golden ladder to the Premier League and the riches that that promotion entails. The winner will have the privilege of being favorites for relegation next season. But the losers will drop to the rank of rank and file second-tier club, with dwindling resources and three recently relegated sides with a better prospect at promotion.

Southampton did us over twice this season, the only club to do that. Russell Martin really does seem to have Daniel Farke's number. But this is a Cup Final, so anything could happen. So, come on, you Whites! Let's go! MOT!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 38 Update

Evening, PPPers - I'm coming to you at the end of the week to update you on our standings. The Premier League wrapped up on Sunday, with Man City, somewhat predictably, clinching their fourth title in a row. Their #9 Erling Haaland finished top of the goalscorers' chart again, with 27 goals. That means that all of those who backed Man City will end up with 10 points in that slot right off the bat.

At the bottom, Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United, the three promoted clubs from last year, went straight back down to the Championship. In the Championship, Leicester won the title and Ipswich were promoted automatically in the second slot. Four clubs went into a playoff semi final and my beloved Leeds United emerged with Southampton as victors and will play a one-off final on Sunday in what is the most financially lucrative football match on the planet every year.

Also coming up this weekend is the FA Cup Final between the two Manchester clubs. If City win this one, they'll win another treble this year, albeit a slightly different entirely domestic treble with the league title and two cups. After this weekend, the only matches left before we jump into Euro 2024 is the Europa Conference League final between Fiorentina and Olympiacos on Wednesday, June 29 and the Champions League Final between Dortmund and Real Madrid on Saturday, June 1.

All of that is to say that there were no changes at all this week in our table, which sits like this:

1. Blue Devil - 48 points

2. Bee's Knees - 47 pts

-   Teddy Goalesevelt - 47 pts

4. Man Utd Rules - 46 pts

-   Red Dragon - 46 pts

- Someone Said - 46 pts

7. oticoN - 45 pts

8. United We Stand - 42 pts

9. Gooner71 - 40 pts

10. West Ham Rising - 34 pts

11. MOT the Hoople - 31 pts

12. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 pts

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 37 Update

Evening, all! I'm here later than usual this week due to grading finals to update us all before we head into the final weekend of the Premier League. Man City's win at Spurs on Tuesday changed everything at the top of the Premier League - and in our humble game. All of us who predicted a City title suddenly got 10 points added to their scores. As we go into the weekend, Arsenal will need to win and hope that West Ham can beat City at the Etihad. It's a tall order but football in, as the saying goes, "a funny old game." At the bottom, Luton are all but relegated alongside Burnley.

In the Championship, Ipswich have been promoted alongside Leicester. My beloved Leeds took a huge step toward promotion today with a smashing 4-0 win over Norwich to take us to a Wembley playoff final next weekend. Southampton and WBA play for that second Wembley berth tomorrow evening.

Erland Haaland added two more goals on Tuesday and is now five goals ahead of Cole Palmer and almost certain to be Golden Boot again. Those six points seem safe for now. None of us are getting any points from Ollie Watkins' lead in the Assists, and David Raya as the Golden Gloves winner.

That said, here are the current standings:

1. Blue Devil - 48 points
2. Bee's Knees - 47 pts
-   Teddy Goalesevelt - 47 pts
4. Man Utd Rules - 46 pts
-  Red Dragon - 46 pts
-  Someone Said - 46 pts
7. oticoN - 45 pts
8. United We Stand - 42 pts
9. Gooner71 - 40 pts
10. West Ham Rising - 34 pts
11. MOT the Hoople - 31 pts
12. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 - pts

It's Go Time in the Prem!

Morning, boys - I'm settling into my easy chair as usual to enjoy the morning's footer. We get started with a crucial one for the title race. Citeh have two matches in four days that will likely settle the title, starting with Fulham away this morning Get over that and they've got Spurs waiting on Tuesday. The focus shifts at 10am with a number of matches featuring the bottom clubs. Most crucially, Luton have a must-win match at the London Stadium against West Ham. They'll then hope that Chelsea get a win against their rivals Forest in the late one.

Pull up a comfy chair and join me, eh?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 36 Update

A very happy Monday evening, PPPers. I'm back with a very quick update on our standings. Quick, as nothing at all changed in the tables or our standings over the weekend. The Championship ended as was predictable with Leicester and Ipswich automatically promoted to the Premier League for next season. My beloved Leeds United will then travel to Norwich, while Southampton will travel to WBA on Sunday to kick off the playoff process.

Otherwise, Erling Haaland scored another four goals, David Raya notched another clean sheet. In other words, business as usual. So, that means that UWS is still top of the pops with two matches left to play in the Premier League, which seems destined to be decided by Man City's match in hand against Spurs next Tuesday.

Here are the current standings in full:

1. United We Stand - 42 points

2. Blue Devil - 33 pts

3. Red Dragon - 32 pts

-  Someone Said 32 pts

-  Teddy Goalesevelt - 32 pts

6. Bee's Knees - 31 pts

-  Man Utd Rules - 31 pts

-  MOT the Hoople - 31 pts

-  oticoN - 31 pts

10. Red Devil 1FCK - 27

11. Gooner71 - 25 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 24 pts

The End of a Long Road

It's the last day of the regular Championship season. When the fixtures for this season were first announced back in the summer, my beloved Leeds United's match at home to Southampton sounded like a potential clash for the title. Instead, it's a bit of a dead rubber for both clubs. The Saints are safely ensconced in fourth but can't reach us in third. And we would need a win plus an Ipswich loss at home to Huddersfield, who are as good as relegated already. It seems improbable and yet football, as they say, is a funny old game. So, I'm hoping for a big win in front of our home support, which will at least mean that we have some confidence going into the playoffs later this month. Come on, you Whites! MOT!!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 35 Update

Happy Tuesday, PPPers! I'm back with a quick update on our standings. I say quick, because very little changed this weekend. Erling Haaland scored a goal against Forest, which lifted him above Cole Palmer, but since no one ever thought Palmer was a threat in the Golden Boot stakes, that isn't robbing anyone of any points. The only major change happened today with Ipswich securing a win against Coventry in their vital match in hand, which lifted them above my beloved Leeds United into the second automatic promotion slot in the Championship. So, some of got one point added and some got one point taken away.

That reshuffle means that UWS is now nine clear points ahead of yours truly at the top of the table with three weeks left of the regular season. Here are the full standings:

1. United We Stand - 42 points

2. Blue Devil - 33 pts

3. Red Dragon - 32 pts

-  Someone Said - 32 pts

-  Teddy Goalesevelt - 32 pts

6. Bee's Knees - 31 pts

-  Man Utd Rules - 31 pts

-  MOT the Hoople - 31 pts

-  oticoN - 31 pts

10. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 pts

11. Gooner71 - 25 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 24 pts
