Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 10 Update

Happy Monday, chaps - I'm back as usual at the end of another big footer weekend to update our standings in the PPP Game. With their away win at Selhurst Park, Spurs hung onto their lead at the top, with Arsenal, Citeh, Liverpool and Villa in hot pursuit. Bournemouth's result meant that they hopped out of the dropzone and were replaced by Luton, which means that all three promoted sides are now in relegation trouble.

In the Championship, the top two won again; WBA and Cardiff  joined Leeds and Southampton in a very tight playoff race. In Europe, Leverkusen, Inter and Real have maintained their leads at the top of their respective leagues.

Erling Haaland brace in the Manc Derby moved him onto 11 goals at the top of the scoring charts, with Spurs' Son on eight now. Pedro Neto is now alone at the top of the assists. Ederson and David Raya joined a large group on four clean sheets.

It all means that United We Stand continues at the top of our standings, albeit now only two points above Teddy. Here are the current standings:

1. United We Stand - 38 points

2. Teddy Goalesevelt - 36 pts

3. Bee's Knees - 35 pts

4. Blue Devil - 34 pts

-   MOT the Hoople - 34 pts

6. Red Dragon - 33 pts

7. Man Utd Rules - 32 pts

-   oticoN - 32 pts

9. Red Devil 1FCK - 31 pts

10. Someone Said - 31 pts

11. Gooner71 - 29 pts

The Early Morning Leeds Show

A very good morning to all of you. I'm up with the roosters this morning to watch my beloved Super Whites as they host local rivals Huddersfield in a Yorkshire Derby. After the calamity away to Stoke in mid-week, we need to bounce back with a convincing win against the Terriers, otherwise the top two are going to start running away with this league. So, let's get those three points. Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 9 Update

Hiya, folks - after a couple of weeks off for the interminable international break, it felt great to get back to domestic footie over the weekend. And what a wild ride it was! At the end of it, Spurs brushed Fulham aside 2-0 this afternoon to retain the top spot. Citeh and Arsenal traded places within the top five and the bottom three - Burnley, Bournemouth and Sheffield United - kept losing.

At the top of the Championship, Leicester kept winning, while Ipswich had a matchday off for a freak storm. My beloved Leeds United came from behind to defeat Norwich, which lifted them to third spot. In Europe, Real and Leverkusen kept their spots, while Inter displaced their cross-town rivals AC Milan.

Erling Haaland rattled in another goal to now have 9 goals in 9 matches, while Wolves' Pedro Neto and Newcastle's Kieran Trippier now have 6 assists and Johnstone, Pope and Vicario have 4 clean sheets.

It all means that United We Stand continues at the top of our standings for a second week with an impressive total of 40 points. Here are the full standings:

1. United We Stand - 40 points

2. Blue Devil - 33 pts

-   oticoN - 33 pts

-   Red Devil 1FCK - 33 pts

-   MOT the Hoople - 32 pts

7. Man Utd Rules - 31 pts

-   Red Dragon - 31 pts

The Prem is Back!

It seems like forever since we had a chance to watch some Premier League footie. But we're finally back to the good stuff after the second interminable international break of the season. We start with a bang with the Merseyside Derby at Anfield. I'm really looking forward to seeing Liverpool rack up some goals against Sean Dyche and co. At 10am, we've got the usual slate of matches, including Citeh v. Brighton on USA and my beloved Leeds visiting our old stomping grounds at Carrow Road to meet Norwich.

In the afternoon, we've got Chelsea v. Arsenal to look forward. So, make yourself a strong cuppa and settle in.

This Scots Fan is a Legend!

The Scots may be rubbish at football but, there's no doubt about it, their fans are brilliant. Gooner came across this YouTube clip of a Scots fan going on about his team's performance against Ireland. It's a thing of joy - enjoy!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 8 Update

Hiya, PPPers! I'm back to take stock of the hurly burly weekend of footer that we just witnessed, as we head into the second interminable international break of the season. It's all change in the Premier League, with Man City knocked off their perch for the first time in weeks and Big Ange's Spurs sitting on top this week. That robs most of us of ten points right off the bat. At the bottom, it's as you were with Burnley, Bournemouth and Sheffield United propping up the league.

In the Championship, Leicester and Ipswich switched places, which gave several of us an extra point, and my beloved Leeds United have crept up into fifth place. Haaland hasn't scored in a few matches but his eight goals still leads the pack with Newcastle's Isak and Spurs' Son in hot pursuit. Neto, Maddison and Trippier all notched a fifth assist, leaving Mo Salah in their dust. And Ederson is joined this week by Palace's Sam Johnstone with four clean sheets.

Inter's city rivals AC have nicked the top spot in Serie A off them, while Real and Leverkusen are top of the pops in their respective leads.

That all means that United We Stand sits atop the standings this week. Here are the full standings:

1. United We Stand - 37 points

2. Bee's Knees - 32 pts

-   Man Utd Rules - 32 pts

-   oticoN - 32 pts

-   Teddy Goalesvelt - 32 pts

6. MOT the Hoople - 31 pts

7. Blue Devil - 29 pts

-   Gooner71 - 29 pts

-   Red Devil 1FCK - 29 pts

10. Someone Said - 26 pts

11. Red Dragon - 25 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 20 pts

If It's Saturday, it's Footie Time

Morning, chaps! It's footie time again. We all get started at Kenilworth Road early doors with Luton hosting high flying Tottenham. In the 3pm GMT hour, there is the usual slate of Premier League and EFL matches. My eye will be on Elland Road, as usual, where my beloved Leeds will be taking on Bristol City in what is another must-win match for the Whites. The late one is Palace v. Forest - bit of rubbish, actually.

Join me if you're watching.

Wednesday Evening Leeds Action!

It's another big evening in the Championship for my beloved Leeds United as we host QPR at the sacred Elland Road ground. The Whites need to bounce back from the 3-1 thumping that we endured at Southampton last weekend and get back to winning ways. Six points from this one and the match at Bristol City at the weekend will put us right back on track for the playoff spots. Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 7 Update

Happy Tuesday, PPPers! I decided to wait until this afternoon's relegation six-pointer clash between Luton and Burnley to update all of you with our standings. As usual, it was a dramatic weekend in domestic and European football, with some real implications for our game. Citeh are still top of the pops, even after dropping their first clanger of the season at Wolves. But the European qualifiers have shuffled again, with Brighton dropping out and Villa popping in for a chat.

At the bottom, Burnley and Sheffield Utd. continue to languish despite Burnley's big win this afternoon. They've been joined this week by Bournemouth. After losing 0-8 at home to Newcastle last week, Sheffield Utd boss Paul Heckingbottom became the first manager to get the cursed "vote of confidence" from his board, which means he'll likely walk the plank next week.

In the Championship, our old friends, The Tractor Boys, are top of the league, with Leicester and others in hot pursuit. Sadly, my beloved Leeds are back in mid-table obscurity after getting spanked by Southampton at the weekend.

Real Madrid are back on top in Spain, while Leverkusen have pipped Bayern again this weekend. So, most of us just moved our two points away from Bayern and onto Real this week. While Erling Haaland still rides high in the scoring charts with 8 goals in 7 matches, there haven't been many assists or clean sheets, so both brackets are cluttered with contenders.

It all mean that it's all change this week and somehow I've rotated up to the top spot. Here are the current standings:

1. Blue Devil - 43 points
2. oticoN - 42 pts
3. Man Utd Rules - 40 pts
4. Gooner71 - 39 pts
-   Someone Said - 39 pts
6. MOT the Hoople - 38 pts
-   Teddy Goalesevelt - 38 pts
8. Red Dragon - 37 pts
9. Bee's Knees - 35 pts
10. United We Stand - 33 pts
11. West Ham Rising - 32 pts
12. Red Devil 1FCK - 27 pts

RIP Francis Lee (1942-2023)

Sad news today of the death of Derby County and Man City legend Francis Lee at the age of 79. Whenever I hear Franny's name, I always conjure up the image of him scoring for Derby against Citeh in 1974 and the ecstatic commentary by Barry Davies on MOTD: "Interesting...very interesting! Look at his face! Just look at his face!" Great memories. RIP.
