Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 27 Update

Hi there, PPPers - I'm back with our weekly check-in of the standings in our humble game. Not a lot to report this week, honestly, as the only big change was, fortunately, the massive jump out of the relegation zone for my beloved Leeds United, who went from 19th to 14th after the win over Wolves on Saturday. Otherwise, it's Arsenal at the top with the same pack of five chasing them for the title. It's the same top six in the Championship as well. In Europe, Dortmund have taken over the top spot in the Bundesliga. So those who had the temerity to bet against the Super Whites lost three (or four) points and those who plumped for Bayern lost a couple.

It all means that Swansong is still in the lead, with several players chasing. It also means that AZ Kicker is off the bottom for the first time in several months, so well done to him!

Here are the current standings:

1. Swansong - 37 points

2. Bee's Knees - 33 pts

-  Man Utd Rules - 33 pts

-  Red Devil 1FCK - 33 pts

5. Red Devil 1FCK - 30 pts

6. Red Dragon - 28 pts

7. Blue Devil - 27 pts

8. oticoN - 24 pts

-  Someone Said - 24 pts

-  Teddy Goalsevelt - 24 pts

11. AZ Kicker - 23 pts

-  Gooner71 - 23 pts

13 MOT the Hoople - 22 pts

14. West Ham Rising - 20 pts

A Bit of This and A Bit of That

It's a big weekend of domestic footer, with FA Cup Quarterfinals side-by-side with Premier League matches of importance at both ends of the table. Because of our Spring Forward last weekend, we get started a little later than usual at 11am EST with a slate of Premier League matches. This includes Southampton v. Spurs on USA, while I'll be concentrating on Leeds away day at Molineux against Wolves. With nine sides relegation threatened at the moment, there are loads of crucial games. After those matches, we got Chelsea v. Everton in the EPL alongside Man City v. Burnley.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 26 Update

Happy Monday, PPPers. I'm officially on Spring Break this week, so I'm taking advantage of a bit of extra time today to crunch the data before we get into the hurly burly of the European fixtures this week. A few changes in the Premier League table have meant a loss of points for all of us. First, Newcastle have replaced Liverpool in the fifth spot after the Reds disastrous loss away to bottom of the table Bournemouth. That result also meant that my beloved Leeds have now dropped into the bottom three for the first time this season.

All of that means that we have a new leader - Swansong - of what is an increasing tight race at the top. Here are the current standings:

1. Swansong - 39 points

2. Bee's Knees - 35 pts

-  Man Utd Rules - 35 pts

4. Red Devil 1FCK - 34 pts

5. Red Dragon - 33 pts

6. United We Stand - 32 pts

7. Blue Devil - 29 pts

-  oticoN - 29 pts

9. Someone Said - 26 pts

-  Teddy Goalesevelt - 26 pts

11. Gooner71 - 25 pts

12. MOT the Hoople - 24 pts

13. West Ham Rising - 22 pts

14. AZ Kicker - 21 pts

Footie Relief at the End of a Long Week

It was an especially grueling workweek this week, so it's feels especially good to settle into my favorite armchair to enjoy some footer this morning. We start with Liverpool on the South Coast to meet Bournemouth. I'll take a Scouse slaughter in that one. That's followed with the usual 10am fixtures, including Chelsea visiting struggling Leicester on USA and my beloved Leeds hosting Brighton on The Cock. We end up at 12:30 with Palace, who have recently been dragged back into the relegation race, hosting Man City. Another away in that one, please!

Join me for all the thrills and chills, eh?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 25 Update

Happy Monday evening, PPPers - I'm back with our weekly PPP update. With Brentford's 3-2 win over fellow Londoners Fulham this evening, we came to the end of Matchday 25 of the Premier League season. With 13 matches to play, Arsenal are still five points up due to their last gasp win over Bournemouth. The Manc teams are in hot pursuit and then a gap before you get to Spurs in fourth and Liverpool back in the saddle after their 7-0 shellacking of United in fifth. At the bottom, somehow my beloved Leeds have survived being in the bottom three for another week, with Everton, Southampton and Bournemouth in the relegation zone. Burnley are streaking away with the Championship, with Sheffield United the logical second spot. Norwich are back in the playoff spots.

All this means that points are abound, largely due to Liverpool's improved position. Our two resident United fans - UWS and MUR - are at the top of the pops this week, which might be some comfort - chins up, boys! Here are the current standings:

1. United We Stand - 41 pts

2. Man Utd Rules - 40 pts

3. Red Devil 1FCK - 38 pts

4. Bee's Knees - 37 pts

5. Swansong - 36 pts

-  Red Dragon - 36 pts

7. Blue Devil - 34 pts

-  Teddy Goalsevelt - 34 pts

9. oticoN - 32 pts

10. Gooner71 - 31 pts

-  Someone Said - 31 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 27 pts

13. MOT the Hoople - 24 pts

14. AZ Kicker - 16 pts

Still One of The Biggest Matches of the Season

Despite Liverpool's mid-table status this season, a visit from their Lancashire rivals is always one of the great occasions of British football. That's the marquee match-up today. Before that, we've got the relegation scrap between Forest and Everton. Join me if you're watching.

Crunch Time

As we inch toward spring, it's crunch time in the Premier League. We start with a top of the table affair at the Etihad between Man City and Newcastle. Somehow the featured 10am match is my beloved Leeds United at Chelsea, our third consecutive telly match. Then we wrap up with a relegation dogfight between Southampton and Leicester.

Grab yourself a cuppa and join me, eh?
