Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

If It's Tuesday, It Must be Leeds United Time!

Hiya, boys - because of the condensed nature of the season heading up to the Qatar World Cup, we've got a full slate of Premier League fixtures in mid-week this week. That's highlighted this afternoon by my beloved Leeds United hosting a hapless Everton side. This should be a chance to bounce back from a disappointing outing on the South Coast against Brighton on Saturday and to stick another nail in Frank Lampard's coffin. Three points are a must - come on, you Whites! #MOT!!!

Premiership Plus Predictions Week 4 Update

2022/2023 Premiership Plus Predictions Game:

Good evening everyone. Here are the latest standings after the fourth round of matches have been completed . The standings are starting to look a little more familiar.  Some of us picked up half as dozen points for picking Haaland  as GBB . The Leeds born striker replaced the Leeds United striker in that category. A couple of PPPers  picked up a couple of points for picking him to be the first player to score a Prem hat-trick. Many of us picked up a couple of points for picking Reasl to be La Liga Champions and for picking the Canaries for promotion . Robert Sanchez is the surprise Golden Gloves leader as are his Seagulls in a European spot. A few of us picked up some points for picking the Toffees for relegation. The new leader is former winner, Swansong in a very tight race. Here are the standings :

  1. Swansong– 28 points
  2. Bees Knees – 27 points
  3. Someone Said - 26 points
  1. UWS – 25  points

The Uniteds are on the Telly Again!

Hurrah - the NBC/Universal suits have favored this weekend and will be showing our two Uniteds on the South Coast back to back. How great is that?! It all starts with Southampton v. United at 7:30am and is followed my beloved Leeds' trip to Brighton. If you need any more football after that, well, then stick around for table-topping Arsenal in a London Derby with Fulham.

League Cup, Second Round Wednesday

We're only three weeks into the new season and it's already League Cup time. Today's Second Round opponents for my beloved Leeds United at the sacred Elland Road ground are Barnsley. So, this will be a chance for Jesse Marsch to rest his first team and give the marginal squad players and academy kids a run-out. No television coverage today, so I'll be listening on Talksport. Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

Premiership Plus Predictions Week 3 Update

Good evening everyone and time for our week three update. There has been quite a bit of change in the PPP standings due to changes in the tables. The Gunners  are top of the Premier League thanks to their perfect start top the season, replacing Citeh at the top. The vast majority of us lost ten points since Citeh no longer top the table. The new leader in the PPP is Someone Said, who picked the Gunners to win the Prem title . Several of the favorites to finish in the European spots and relegation spots are defying expectations, so many of us have a low points tally . Only three matches have been played , so  there are some early season surprises. The Foxes, Wolves ,and Hammers surprisingly occupy the relegation spots while our Bob is delighted to see Leeds in nosebleed territory of third place. WHR will be hoping for an improvement to the season for his Hammers. UWS and Yours Truly are delighted that United moved out for the relegation zone as they defeated bitter rivals Liverpool 2-1 for their first points of the season. Rodrigo continues to be the top scorer in the Prem while Ederson and Nick Pope are joined by Ramsdale and Robert Sanchez in the Golden Glove race. Villarreal are top of La Liga after two matches thanks to a 0-2 win at Athletico. Napoli remain top of Serie A and Bayern , as predicted are running away with the Bundesliga. Here are the current standings:

1) Someone Said - 26 points

2) Swansong -20 points

     UWS - 20 points

4)  MUR-19 points

     Red Devil - 19 points

'    Teddy Goalesevelt- 19 points

7) MOT- 17 points

8) AZ- 16 points

    Bees Knees - 16 points

10 ) Gooner - 15 points

11) oticoN - 13 points

12) WHR - 12 points

13) Red Dragon- 10 points

14 ) Blue Devil-  9 points

Liverpool vs Manchester United Monday Night Football on the COCK

Liverpool vs Manchester United used to be the greatest rivalry in English Football. Now there is a tremendous gap between the two clubs. It's only the third match of the season , but United look to be fighting a relegation battle this season while Liverpool have drawn their opening two matches of the season . Last season Liverpool did the double over United defeating them 9-0 on aggregate. It would not be surprising to see results this season, but you never know. Join me for the match on the COCK if you can

It's Leeds Time!

Good morning, boys! I'm up with a bounce in my step because my beloved Leeds boys are playing this morning. It's a classic match-up with Chelsea with a grudge that goes back to the 1970 Cup Final. My patented rubric says that we don't need anything from today, but a point would be very satisfying.

Come on, you Whites! MOT!!!

North London Bookends

Morning, boys! It's another big day in the Premier League, with the big North London clubs bookending the action. We get started early with high-flying Spurs against slow-starting Wolves. Then there are the 10am kickoffs, including Leicester v. Soton on USA. Finally, we switch over to NBC for the afternoon clash between Bournemouth and Arsenal.

I'll be joining in when I can around taking care of the twins. Join me?

Premiership Plus Predictions Week 2 Update

Wishing everyone a happy midweek and ready for the most current updates.  Citeh top the table after only two matches which meant ten extra points for many of us . Additionally, many of us accumulated points for picking the two North London  clubs to finish in a European spot. Gabby Jesus was the first scorer in the pool which added a solitary point to some totals . Leeds United fans will be pleased to see that Rodrigo is the top scorer in the Prem, proving that goal poaching does wonders for your scoring total, LOL! United and Hammers are surprisingly in a relegation spot, but it's early doors so that will likely change. A few people picked up points for picking the Toffees to finish third from bottom. Meanwhile Yours Truly netted  a couple of points for picking Antonio Conte and Tommy Tuchel for first touchline bust up. Charles Darwin Nunez became the first player sent off and there is still a point up for grabs since none of us picked him in the pool, at least in that category. There are still a  few firsts that have yet to occur. Bayern is predictably top of the Bundesliga  . Serie A and La Liga kicked off their campaigns this past weekend with Athletico first by virtue of alphabetical order and Napoli top on goals scored. Finally , in the Championship, Blackburn remains top of the table despite being thrashed 3-0 by the Reading Railroad earlier this afternoon. Here are the latest standings :

1)  Teddy Goalesevelt- 37 points

 2) Gooner- 33 points

      MUR- 33 points

4)  Red Devil - 30 points

       UWS - 30 points

6) Red Dragon - 28 points

7) Red Devil - 26 points

    oticoN - 26 points

9) WHR - 23 points

10) Bees Knees -21 points

11) MOT- 19 points

12) Swansong -18 points

13) Someone Said - 13 points

14) AZ - 8 points

Second Sunday

Hiya, boys - I'm posting this in the wee hours so that we're all set for tomorrow morning's matches. Not sure when I'll be able to join in as, on top of everything, we're hosting a garden party for the neighbors tomorrow afternoon. So, what's on tap. Well, it's newly-promoted Forest v. West Ham, two more sides trying to bounce back from opening day losses. Then it's the marquee match of the weekend - a London Derby between table-topping Spurs and Chelsea. I might have it on in the background, while getting ready but I'll join in while I can. Cheers!

Hurrah - It's Saturday Again!

Morning, boys - welcome to Week 2 of this season's Premier League action. Again, we've got a load of interesting matches. It all gets started early doors with Villa v. Everton. Both sides had opening day losses, so something's got to give in this early relegation battle. That's followed by the 10am fixtures, including Erling Haaland and City up against recently promoted Bournemouth on USA and my beloved Leeds away to Southampton on The Cock. We then wrap things up with United v. Brentford on NBC at 12:30pm.

Looking forward to a good footie natter with you. Cheers!

Premiership Plus Predictions Week 1 Update

 Happy Monday,

The first weekend of the 2-022-23 Premier League Season is in the books . Spurs top the league to the disdain if Gunners fans , but there is still plenty of time for that to change. Most people picked up points for picking the Gunners to finish in a European spotted for picking Burnley and Watford in the promotion spots.. Many people picked up two points for picking Bayern to top the Bundesliga. Some league positions were separated by virtue of alphabetical order . None of uy s correctly picked first in anything . The first touchline dustup was left blank as Jessee March vs Bruno Lager was far too minor in my opinion. Finally , La Liga and Serie A start next weekend. Here are the standings. Please let me know if I need to make any changes.

1) Swansong - 26 points

2) MOT-24 points

    UWS-24 points

4) Red Devil- 23 points

5) Blue Devil - 20 points

     Red Devil - 20 points

7) MUR- 18 points

     Someone Said- 18 points

9)  Teddy Goalesevelt-17 Points

10) Gooner- 16 points

       WHR-16 points

12) Bees Knees - 15 points

 13) oticoN - 11 points

 14) AZ - 7 points

The First Saturday of the Season

I'm up in the middle of the night feeding the twins and looking forward to the matches this morning. We start with the new look Liverpool turbo charged by the addition of striker Darwin. That's followed by the 10am fixtures, including my beloved Leeds United's home opener against Wolves. Finally, the late one is Everton hosting Lamps' old buddies Chelsea.

I'll be distracted by two infants but I'll look forward to chatting. Join me?

THE PREMIER LEAGUE STARTS HERE!!!

HERE WE GO
HERE WE GO
HERE WE GO

So, an early start to the new season. Sadly, we pretty much all know who will win it...but...will there be surprise? Can Areteta and Conte have North London be in contention for the title. Will Chelsea survive the end of the Roman Era? Can ETH start a new dynasty at OT?
How will the newbies fare? Will they all go down again? Forest(3rd) are favorites of the three to survive.
Will Leeds and Everton keep safe this season after last season's exploits?

It all starts today with a London derby at Selhurst Park as the Eagles host the Gunners. One of the few games ALL WEEKEND that NBC actually puts on the telly!!!(Poor Form)

Wish I was with the Dahlgren Clan at the Cottage watching with them but at least we have LOB.
