Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Happy Birthday, LOB!

The LOB is, believe it or not, 17 years old today. Thank you to all of you who have been along for the ride over all of these years of live blogging, trivia and footer chat. In all honestly, I should admit that the LOB has seen better days and I take responsibility for that, as it has been difficult to keep up the regular posting while raising twins. However, I'm going to redouble my efforts over the next years, attempting to post more routinely and one perhaps a wider variety of topics. I hope you'll help me with that. Cheers! Thank you for all that you do.

Sunday in the Prem

It's another big Sunday in the Premier League, with my beloved Leeds United on the road on the south coast to meet Bournemouth and Man Utd taking hosting Villa. Man City can assume top spot as well with a win at Fulham, while I'm hoping that the Toon will do a number on the Saints. It's all to play for - join me if you're watching.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 32 Update

Happy Tuesday, everyone - I'm here as usual to update all of us on the PPP goings-on. It was quite an enthralling weekend of footer action both in the domestic leagues and the FA Cup semi final. At the end of it all, Arsenal retained their top spot, Newcastle moved back into third, and Everton dropped into the bottom three. In the Championship playoff race, Coventry and Sunderland have now joined Luton and Boro. The shocker in Europe was the Bayern loss, which allowed Dortmund to slip into the top spot in the Bundesliga.

This all means another shake-up with United We Stand vaulting up to joint top alongside long-time league leader Swansong. With six matches to play starting with a full slate of matches in mid-week, here are the current standings:

1. Swansong - 35 points

-  United We Stand - 35 pts

3. Red Devil 1FCK - 33 pts

4. Bee's Knees - 29 pts

5. Teddy Goalesevelt - 26 pts

-  Someone Said - 26 pts

Big Action at Both Top and Bottom

Morning, chaps - it's another big day in the domestic footie season. It all starts with a bang with my beloved Leeds boys away to Fulham at Craven Cottage. After Soton's improbable draw at the Emirates yesterday, it's all the more important for us to get something. That leads into a slate of important matches at 10am, including Palace hosting Everton and Leicester hosting Wolves, two matches with real relegation importance. Later on, Citeh take on the Blades in the first FA Cup Semi Final.

Join me for a cuppa this morning, won't you?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 31 Update

Happy Monday, PPPers, I'm here as usual to update all of you on our PPP Game. As of this afternoon's ritual humiliation of my beloved Leeds at the hands of Liverpool, we ended the 31st round of domestic matches this season. This week, not a lot changed. Arsenal are still top, while Forest, Leicester and Soton are at the bottom. Burnley and Sheffield United are romping it in the Champions, while Bayern, Barca and Napoli rule the roost in their leagues. Erling Haaland scored two more to add to his tally of now 32 goals in the EPL, while his teammate KDB notched another assist to make it 15 for the season. David De Gea grabbed another clean sheet on Sunday and is now alone atop the goalkeeper's charts.

All of this means that, with seven weeks left of the season, Swansong continues to be top of the pop. Here are the current standings:

1. Swansong - 36 points

2. Red Devil 1FCK - 34 pts

3. United We Stand - 32 pts

4. Bee's Knees - 31 pts

-  Man Utd Rules - 31 pts

6. Blue Devil - 30 pts

-  Red Dragon - 30 pts

8. MOT the Hoople - 27 pts

9. Someone Said - 24 pts

10. Teddy Goalesevelt - 22 pts

11. Gooner71 - 21 pts

12. oticoN - 20 pts

13. West Ham Rising - 19 pts

14. AZ Kicker - 15 pts

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 30 Update

Happy Dyngus Day, everyone! I'm taking advantage of a day off from classes to get this update out to you before the hurly burly of another Champions League midweek schedule begins tomorrow. This past weekend, the top of the Premier League tightened up, with Arsenal drawing at Anfield and Citeh romping it on the South Coast, and the relegation loosened up slightly, with several teams just about safe in the 30+ point range. Erling Haaland notched another two goals to take his impressive tally to 30 EPL goals, whilst his teammate KDB broke the Premier League record that had been held by Cesc Fabregas for EPL assists.

With eight matches left to play, we're likely to have a tight race at both ends right to the end and here in the PPP. Here are the current standings:

1. Swansong - 36 points
2. Red Devil 1FCK - 35 pts
3. United We Stand - 32 pts
4. Man Utd Rules - 31 pts
5. Bee's Knees - 30 pts
6. Red Dragon - 29 pts
7. Blue Devil - 28 pts
8. MOT the Hoople - 27 pts
9. Someone Said - 26 pts
10. Teddy Goalesvelt - 22 pts
11. Gooner71 - 21 pts
12. oticoN - 20 pts
13. West Ham Rising - 18 pts
14. AZ Kicker - 15 pts

Another Big Sunday Morning!

Morning, boys - it's another big day for the Dahlgren brothers' teams. First up this morning is my beloved Leeds United. Under Javi Gracia, we've begun to have the winning habit, with three wins in his first six matches as boss. We'll hope to see that continue this morning, as we play host to another relegation rival in Crystal Palace at the sacred Elland Road ground. We'll start the day in 16th but will hope to bounce back up to 12th again.

Later on, league leaders Arsenal take on Liverpool in another must-win match for them after Citeh's demolition of Southampton yesterday.

Another Big Weekend Begins!

Morning, chaps! As we enter April, we enter the business end of the season, where titles are won and relegation fates are sealed. Several of those matches are featured this weekend. We start at Old Trafford where I'm obviously hoping that United can dole out some harsh lessons to Sean Dyche's side. That's followed by the 10am fixtures, including Wolves hosting a Chelsea side that have just sacked Graham Potter and brought back from the wilderness Frankie Lamps. We end up with the other Manchester club on the South Coast meeting up with Southampton. I'll hope for a goal fest for Erling Haaland there.

Join me if  you're watching!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 29 Update

Evening all! I'm here on a Wednesday evening this week as I decided to wait for the outcomes of the mid-week EPL fixtures to recalculate the standings. And yes, that was largely because I thought that there might be a chance that Leeds could catapult themselves out of the relegation zone win a win against Forest yesterday. There were lots of changes this week with two full rounds of fixtures to consider; in the end, Newcastle leaped up to third in the league, Leicester dropped into the relegation zone and sacked their manager Brendan Rogers, and Bayern reassumed their usual perch on top of the Bundesliga. Here are the current standings, with Swansea leading the chasing pack.

1. Swansong - 34 pts

2. Red Devil 1FCK - 33 pts

3. Man Utd Rules - 32 pts

4. United We stand - 30 pts

5. Bee's Knees - 27 pts

6. Blue Devil - 26 pts

7. Red Dragon - 24 pts

-  Someone Said - 24 pts

9. Teddy Goalesevelt - 23 pts

10. MOT the Hoople - 22 pts

11. oticoN - 21 pts

12. Gooner71 - 19 pts

-  West Ham Rising 19 pts

14. AZ Kicker - 15 pts

Crunch Day Tuesday!

After the ritual humiliation at the hands of Arsenal in the Dahlgren Derby this past weekend landed us in the relegation zone again, it's time for my beloved Leeds United to bounce back. Today's opponents at the sacred Elland Road ground, Nottingham Forest, present us with an opponent for three priceless points in our survival quest. Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

The Prem is Back!

Morning, boys! After another interminably long international break, the Prem returns this morning with a bang. We start with title challengers Man City taking on Liverpool in a must-win contest for both sides. That's followed by a slate of 10am fixtures including a Dahlgren Derby between Arsenal and Leeds. We then wrap up with Chelsea v. Villa at 12:30pm.

Join me if you're around, won't you?
