Don't Mention the War!
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
Who's up for some meaningless Nations League friendlies on a Friday afternoon? There's no coverage of the big one between England and Italy, but FS1 has coverage of the Germany v. Hungary match from 2:45pm onward. I'll be around and about monitoring the matches on Five Live and The Guardian blog. Join me if you're starved of footie action.
Good evening everyone . Here are the standings heading into the international break after a two week break from Prem footie due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Morning, chaps! The Premier League is back after a two hiatus...well, sort of. Loads of games have been postponed this weekend, but at least we've got something to watch beyond funeral processions. It all starts with Wolves v. Citeh. I know you guys hate them, but I have to admit that I'm loving watching Citeh these days, if only for the Erling Haaland show. The home side may well have new signing Diego Costa in the fold, so things could get spicy. That's followed by Newcastle v. Bournemouth at 10am. Finally, the day wraps up with Spurs v. Leicester, where Brendan Rogers' job may be on the line.
I'll look forward to the pleasure of your company.
Hello chaps. I wouldn't want you to miss this excellent uplifting speech from Michael Sheen that will undoubtedly be reprised in Qatar. But it got me wondering, who would you ask to give a speech to the English locker room in Qatar that would be as rousing? And who would you tap to give the speech to the Americans? In the meantime, enjoy.
12) AZ - 19 points
oticoN- 19 points
14) WHR-15 points
It's an interesting Sunday with ramifications at both ends of the table, starting with the Seagulls vs Foxes and concluding with the marquee match of the weekend, United vs the Gunners. The Gunners will finish the weekend top ,no matter the result at OT while one up to fifth if they win. Join me for all the action.
With the Qatar World Cup looming in a couple of months, the league matches just keep on rolling. We start this morning with a cracker - the Merseyside Derby. Everton are rubbish these days, so it's not the rivalry of old but it's still one of the biggest derby matches of the season. That's followed by the 10am kickoffs, including the London Derby between Chelsea and West Ham, the other London Derby between Spurs and Fulham, and, somewhat improbably, the USA televised match featuring my beloved Leeds United visiting Brentford. We wrap things up with Villa being thrown to the Wolves of Man City. How many will Haaland bag today? Pop the popcorn and settle in. Cheers!
