Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 26 Update

A very good Tuesday to all of you out there in LOB land. I'm here with the weekly update on the PPP. It was a wild old weekend, which saw a second consecutive hat-trick with Spurs hero Harry Kane and a thrilling 3-2 win in the EFL Cup Final for Jose Mourinho's United. That added loads of points to several of our participants, including a whopping 12 points (6 for HK and 6 for United) for our friend MUR, who now sits atop our league table, tied with Red Devil.

A couple of other notes. I've made note of the teams that are now out of the respective cup competitions. Also, after Claudio Ranieri's dramatic sacking at Leicester, only one week after he'd been given a "vote of confidence" by the LCFC board, I've put his name down in that category. Needless to say, none of us was brave enough to predict that the guy who took Leicester to the title last season would be sacked a mere eight months later.

Here are the current standings:

1. Man Utd Rules - 38 points
-  Red Devil 1FCK - 38 pts
3. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 29 pts
4. The Red Dragon - 28 pts
5. Blue Devil - 27 pts
-  Someone Said - 27 pts
7. Swansong - 26 pts
-  Yellows - 26 pts
9. Gooner71 - 25 pts
-  The Saint - 25 pts
-  United We Stand - 25 pts
12. West Ham Rising - 23 pts

Oscar Night Live!

Evening, folks. I hope you'll join me throughout the night tonight as we enjoy the annual Academy Awards show. I lot of people dismiss it as a load of tosh, but, as a movie fan, I always get excited about seeing the big film night with all the stars on show. Jimmy Kimmel is the host and there will likely be a few anti-Trump barbs to cheer on. Let's be having ya!

The League Cup Final

Good Morning Fellas, the season's first trophy, apart from the Charity Shield(which United won), is up for grabs today at Wembley stadium. It is a repeat of the 1976 FA Cup Final...we don't want the same result today!
The match is on BEIN and I don't have it but Bob has hopefully got me sorted out. I am going to try and send the picture from my computer to my TV... fingers crossed!
Join me for the Final  and the early match at White Hart Lane Lane

COME ON UNITED!!!

An Early Morning Saturday Cracker!

I'm up early to follow my beloved Leeds United as they take on our bitterest rivals - Not a Big Club - in a classic Yorkshire rival. Unfortunately, the suits at BEin have decided not to televise it, for some reason, so I'm searching for a dodgy link. Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

European Wrap-Up

It's been a very busy week at work here in WNY, so I haven't had a lot of time to tune in to the European action. So, I thought I'd take a moment to catch up with all the action.

On Tuesday, Citeh traded 8 goals with Monaco in a thrilling 5-3 win that still leaves a lot to be sorted out in the second leg in the principality. Meanwhile, Atletico turned Leverkusen over 2-4, leaving that tie just about sorted.

On Wednesday, Jamie Vardy's late goal has left Leicester with a fighting chance against Sevilla in the second leg at the KP. They'll go into that one 1-2 down. Meanwhile, Juve scored two away goals at Porto that will make it difficult for the Portugeezers to get back into the tie.

Meanwhile, in the Europa League, United notched a very creditable away win at St. Etienne. They should be safely into the quarters on the basis of that. All in all, not a bad week for the English.

Your thoughts about it all, gentlemen?

Time for the Gunners to Punish Sutton United!

The FA Cup 5th Round matches wrap up this afternoon with Arsenal's away day at non-league Sutton United. I'm hoping that the Gunners can rack up a cricket score to punish Sutton for their impertinence in doing the naughties against Leeds in the last round. Their reward - a Quarter Final against Lincoln City! Come on, you Gunners!

More FA Cup 5th Round Madness!

The FA Cup gods could have scheduled these two matches yesterday afternoon, so that we could have taken the missus out for Sunday brunch. But no - they're intent on stealing away our Sundays. Today, it's Fulham v. Spurs followed by Blackburn v. United. So, scramble up those eggs and join me for the action today, won't you?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 25 Update

Hiya, chaps - I'm here in mid-week updating our PPP Game once again. Those dramatic Champions League results have somewhat overshadowed the weekend's action at this point. However, it's the weekend results that have had the effect on our standings. Red Devil is on top again, and has even extended his lead this week to three point. The shuffling of sides in the top five, the relegation and the revolving positions of Newcastle and Brighton have all had some impact, as well. Romelu Lukaku, who no one backed as top scorer, is on top with 16 goals, but with Alexis, Diego and Zlatan in hot pursuit.

Here are current standings:

1. Red Devil 1FCK - 33 points
2. The Red Dragon - 30 pts
3. Blue Devil - 29 pts
4. United We Stand - 28 pts
-  What's Up Wheaton Simon - 28 pts
6. The Saint - 27 pts
-  Yellows - 27 pts
8. Man Utd Rules - 26 pts
9. Swansong - 25 pts
10. Gooner71 - 23 pts
-  Someone Said - 23 pts
12. West Ham Rising - 22 pts

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 24 Update

Hiya, fellas. My apologies for the delayed update this week - it's been a busy one here in Fredonia. There has been quite some shake-out in the league positions and in our standings. Chelsea are still top, but the European qualifying slots have shifted, much to the benefit of Yellows, who now sits atop our charts. Romelu Lukaku is not the Premiership top goalscorer with 16 goals, after that spate of 4 goals against the Cherries last weekend.

Here are our current standings:

1. Yellows - 36 points
2. Red Devil 1FCK - 32 pts
3. Blue Devil - 29 pts
-  The Red Dragon - 29 pts
5. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 28 pts
-  The Saint - 28 pts
7. Man Utd Rules - 26 pts
-  Swansong - 26 pts
-  United We Stand - 26 pts
10. Gooner71 - 24 pts
11. West Ham Rising - 23 pts
12. Someone Said - 21 pts

Another United Sunday!

It's another tale of the two United this super Sunday morning. In a few moments, my beloved Leeds will take to the field against local rivals Huddersfield in a playoff six-pointer. That's followed later on with the two Manc clubs battling over that last Champions League slot. Join me this morning for all the action.

An Early Morning Saturday Cracker!

Hiya, chaps - we start with a bang early doors this morning. Chelsea v. Arsenal - it doesn't get any bigger. Let's be honest - Arsenal need to win today to have any change of changing the inevitable Chelski run to the title this season, especially after that embarrassing midweek loss to Watford. That's followed by the usual 10 am EST fixtures. I'll be keeping a close eye on Leeds' Championship promotion rivals, of course. Then we end up at the end of the day with Soton v. Spurs. Join me for all the usual Premier League hijinks.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 23 Update

Hiya, fellas. It's been a busy week of FA Cup and league action and I thought it wise to update the goings-on in our PPP game before we get into this weekend's hurly burly. Chelsea may be running away with the Premiership title, but the PPP couldn't be tighter at the top. I can't remember a time when we had a three way tie at the top. We also have three way ties for 4th spot and 7th spot. Crikey!

Here are the current standings:

1. Red Devil 1FCK - 31 points
-  United We Stand - 31 pts
-  What's Up Wheaton Simon - 31 pts
4. Blue Devil - 28 pts
-  Gooner71 - 28 pts
-  The Red Dragon - 28 pts
7. Man Utd Rules - 26 pts
-  Swansong - 26 pts
-  Yellows - 26 pts
10. The Saint - 25 pts
11. Someone Said - 24 pts
12. West Ham Rising - 24 pts
