Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Bachelor Weekend in the Premiership

So, Katie is off visiting her family in Virginia this weekend. You know the phrase, "when the cat's away...." The Bobby bachelor agenda starts with a full slate of Premiership weekend. First up is Spurs' trip to Huddersfield. Since they're still suffering from the Wembley hoodoo, they might actually enjoy an away day in Yorkshire. Then in the 10am EST kickoff timeslot. we've got United hosting bottom of the league Palace looking to rack up double figures. Then we've got the big one - Chelsea v. Citeh. It's always a big one but this weekend, it's first v. third. I can't wait. Join me this morning, won't you?

Championship Tuesday!

I'm taking a break from things this afternoon to follow the Champions League and Championship matches this afternoon, including - of course - the top of the table clash between Cardiff and my beloved Leeds. If you're around this afternoon, please join me.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 6 Update

Hiya, chaps - with Arsenal's great win over West Brom this afternoon, Week 6 came to a close. It's still tight as a tick between Citeh and United at the top of the Premiership, but I'm still awarding the 10 points to the Citeh supporters among our cohort. West Ham are back in the bottom three, but no one chose them for relegation. And Boro are back in the playoff fold - that benefited a few people. I picked up points for Alvaro Morata's goal spray on the week - he, Aguero and Lukaku are all on 6 goals now. All of that means that we have a new leaders at the top - Swansong, take a bow!

So here are the current standings:

1. Swansong - 29 points
2. The Saint - 26
3. MOT the Hoople - 27
4. Gooner71 - 26
5. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 25
6. Yellows - 24
7. Blue Devil - 22
-  Red Devil 1FCK - 22
9. Red Dragon - 20
10. United We Stand - 17
11. Someone Said - 16
12. West Ham Rising - 15
13. Man Utd Rules - 14

Another work week has spun by and ahead of us is a big weekend in English footer. We start early doors as usual with a London Derby at the City of London Stadium between West Ham and Spurs. If that's enough, then we have several tasty 10 am fixtures including the top v. bottom clash between Citeh and Palace and United on the road at Soton. I'll have an eye on the goings-on at Elland Road between my beloved Leeds and our East Anglia favorites Ipswich Town. Then we end up with Leicester v. Liverpool at 12:30. Is that enough for you? I thought it would be. Join me for all the action here on the LOB!

The Premier League Weekend Starts Here!

Morning, chaps. A number of us elected to skip the early one - Palace v. Soton - in favor of catching up on our sleep. So, I'm just waking up to the tail end of that one, with Soton leading 0-1. More importantly, we've got a full slate of better fixtures coming, including Liverpool hosting Burnley and Citeh away to Watford. I'll also have my eye on my beloved Leeds away at the Evil Den. And then we end up with Spurs at Swansea. So, pour yourself a strong cuppa and join me.

The Champions League Begins!

Wahay! The group stages of the Champions League start in earnest today, with some great match-ups on offer. Barcelona v. Juventus? Crikey! That's one heck of a Day 1 fixture. ManYoo will be playing their bogey team Basel, while Chelsea are taking on FK Karabakh. Celtic will just be trying to hang against a Neymar led PSG side, which surely will be hoping to loft the trophy this season after spending all of that dosh.

On the Championship front, there is also a full slate of fixtures on board, including my beloved Leeds taking on Birmingham at Elland Road.

I'll be in and out due to irritating meetings this afternoon, but do drop by for a cuppa if you have a chance.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 4 Update

After the interminably long international break, it was a real pleasure to get back to our regular Premiership routines this past weekend. And it certainly shook things up. Yes - United are still on top and West Ham, Bournemouth and Palace are at the bottom. Certainly there are still teams that are over performing (Watford) and some that are underperforming in the Premier League and the somewhat skewed results in the standings are the result of that. However, with Spurs edging out Huddersfield out of the top five and Barcelona back on top in La Liga, there are a few more points sprinkled about. This all means that Yellows and the United gang are still streets ahead of the rest of the pack.

(One more note - none of us predicted the early sacking of Palace manager Frank de Boer, so no points there, sadly).

Here are the current standings:

1. Yellows - 38 points
2. Red Dragon - 36 pts
3. United We Stand - 35 pts
4. The Saint - 33 pts
5. Red Devil 1FCK - 18 pts
6. Swansong - 16 pts
7. West Ham Rising - 13 pts
8. Man Utd Rules - 12 pts
9. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 11 pts
10. Blue Devil - 9 pts
11. Gooner71 - 8 pts
-  Someone Said - 8 pts
13. MOT the Hoople - 7 pts

Back to the Prem

Where were we before we were so rudely interrupted by the interminable international break? Well, ManYoo are flying, having scored ten goals without conceding any. Arsenal are floundering and there are loud calls for Wenger's head. We start again this morning with a big bang - Liverpool traveling to the Etihad to meet Citeh. That's followed with the usual 10 am GMT kickoffs including Arsenal v. Bournemouth. Then we end with United at Stoke. I'll also have an eye on my Leeds boys who are hosting Burton Albion at Elland Road. Join me for all the action here on the LOB.

Honduras v. US Live!

I'm back in Fred-town and settling in to watch this afternoon's must-not-lose match away to Honduras, which is on BEin. After Friday's catastrophe at home to Costa Rica, Bruce Arena's boys need at least a point on the road in the sweltering heat of the Central American jungle. It should be a heated encounter in more ways than one. Join me if you're around this afternoon.
