Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The FA Cup 4th Round Gets United

Morning, chaps - it's FA Cup Fourth Round Saturday. An exciting day of Cup action is bookended by matches involving our two Uniteds. My beloved kick off away to Accrington Stanley (Who? Exactly!) early doors, while ManYoo host Reading at the end of the day at 3pm.

Join me for those matches and more, won't you?

Sunday Delivers!

Morning, LOBers! We've got some real crackers on the way this Sunday morning. It all starts with two matches at 9am, including my beloved Leeds hosting Brentford. We haven't won a league match in 2023, so now is the time. That's followed by the marquee match up of the weekend - Arsenal v. United, That match usually produces some fireworks, so it should be fun.

Brew yourself a cuppa and settle in, won't you?

Saturday's Alright!

Morning, chaps - it's another big weekend in the Premier League. It all starts with a bang this morning with Liverpool v. Chelsea. In years past, this was a top four affair; this season, it's ninth vs. tenth. Wow! One of these teams has the chance with a win to kickstart their season; a draw really does nothing for either. In the traditional 10am slot, there are several matches involving teams at the bottom. I'll be particularly interested in West Ham v. Everton. Of course, I'll want a draw in that one. Then finally the late one between Palace and Newcastle is a test of the Champions League pretensions of Eddie Howe's side.

I'll look forward to chatting with you today.

FA Cup Third Round Replay Time!

Rodrigo and Sonny Perkins spared Jesse Marsch's blushes and got my beloved Leeds United out of jail two weeks back when we visited Cardiff in the FA Cup 3rd Round. Today, it's time to get the job done as we host the Bluebirds in the replay at the sacred Elland Road ground. I'd like to see the return of some injured warriors (e.g., Patrick Bamford, Luis Sinesterra) and a comprehensive, say, 3 or 4-0, win over the Championship strugglers. Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

The Premiership on a Sunday

I'm just arriving in front of the telly after a Sunday lie-in and then feeding the twins. First up is a pair of matches between top and middle, with Chelsea v. Palace on USA and Newcastle v. Fulham on Peacock.

Later on, we've got the North London Derby from Shite Fart Lane. Can Arsenal keep up their title bid with a big win over their rivals? Join me to find out.

A Weekend of Derby Matches

Morning, everyone! It's a really big weekend in the Premier League where it appears that all of the big sides are playing each other, leaving the relegation strugglers to also play each other. It all starts with the Manchester Derby in a few minutes and ends with the North London Derby tomorrow afternoon. In between there are loads of matches featuring my beloved Leeds United's main rivals, such as Everton v. Southampton. I've got my fingers crossed for some score draws then.

Join me for all the action today, won't you?

Friday the 13th Special

Two years ago, Marcello Bielsa's side came into Villa Park and gave the Villans a 0-3 hammering, thanks to Patrick Bamford's first hat-trick for the club. Bamford won't be playing tonight and the two teams are in very different places at this point. With more winnable matches to come, I'd take a point tonight. Let's hope that we can avoid a Friday the 13th horror show. Come on, you Leeds! #MOT!

Premiership Plus week 18 Update

It's been a busy since the return of Premier League Football on Boxing Day. Teams have played three Premier League matches, there have been FA Cup Third Round matches, the Fourth Round of the League Cup was played in between the World Cup Final and the return of Premier league Football, and the League Cup semis were played yesterday and the day before. Very few of us are left with any chance of League Cup points as the majority of us chose Citeh , who surprisingly lost at rock bottom Saints in the quarterfinals. The only people left with any chance of getting points from the League Cup are Bob, who picked the Toon to lose in the final, Red Dragon , who picked the Toon to win the League Cup, and Swansong , who picked United to win the League Cup. In the Premier League relegation fight the Toffees replaced Forest while in the Championship playoff spots the Canaries were replaced by the red hot Teesiders. Some of us gained points and some of us lost points based on that. It's a really tight PPP race with Red Devil still top , followed closely behind by Someone Said and UWS based on those Toffees and Teesiders picks. There are several of us closely behind those two. Here are the latest standings:

1. Red Devil - 34 points

2. Someone Said - 31 points

    UWS - 31 points

4. MUR- 30 points

5. Swansong- 29 points

6. Teddy Goalesevelt- 28 points

7. MOT - 27 point

8. Bees Knees - 26 points

9. Red Dragon- 25 points

10. Blue Devil - 24 points

    Gooner- 24 points

12. oticoN - 22 points

13. AZ - 18 points

     WHR- 18 points

FA Cup 3rd Round Sunday

Morning, boys - I'm just getting going on this FA Cup 3rd Round Sunday, about an hour from kick-off between Cardiff and Leeds. This is obviously my highlight today. There is a lot of bad blood between these sides, much of it due to the legacy of Peter Ridsdale. But this is a new era and I expect to see a slate of young players for us today who weren't even alive back in 2002 when Cardiff did a giantkilling number on us.

After that, the late one is Arsenal v. Oxford United. Join me for all the fun today.

The Best Day of the Season!

Morning, chaps! FA Cup 3rd Round Saturday has long been my favorite day of the season, and we've got some great matches as usual today. It starts with a slate of early matches starting at 7:30am, highlighted by Spurs v. Pompey, a great giant killing opportunity. There are loads of fixtures at the traditional 3pm GMT/10am EST time slot, but the pick of the bunch is probably Premier League strugglers Bournemouth against high flying Championship side Burnley. At 1pm, Championship side Not a Big Club host Newcastle in another intriguing fixture and finally in the late one, Liverpool meet Wolves.

Join me if you're watching, eh?
