Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Happy Saturday?

Happy Saturday, everyone - or will it be? For me, that very much depends on the result of the big match at 10am between Leeds, currently lying in 19th hosting Southampton, currently in 20th. A win today for our new manager Javi Gracia gives my beloved team a glimmer of hope. Anything less than that surely means relegation for us. We'll also need some help in some of the other matches, including a Man City slaughter of Bournemouth in the 12:30pm match.

Join me if you're watching today.

A Spot of Footie on a Sunday Morning

Morning, chaps! The twins had a good night's sleep, so I'm feeling refreshed as I settle in to enjoy United v. Leicester. Now that I've given up on Leeds' season, I can just enjoy some other matches like this one. If you're around, too, join me for all of the action.

A Snow Weekend of Footie

I'm waking up to a fresh blanket of snow outside, so there is nothing else to it but to settle in for some of the good stuff. We start off with a faltering Arsenal away to Aston Villa. That's followed by the usual 10am fixtures, where I'll have my eye firmly on Goodison Park, where my beloved Leeds will be engaged in a relegation dogfight with Sean Dyche's Everton side. We finish up with Newcastle v. Liverpool.

Join me for all of the fun, eh?

Too Much of a Good Thing

Good Sunday morning, boys! One War of the Roses match in a week is a lot, plenty of excitement for supporters of the Uniteds Leeds and Manchester. But two? That's two much of a good thing. But because the Queen died back in November, we've got two matches against the ancient rivals. My beloved Leeds nearly punked ManYoo in mid-week but blew a 0-2 lead at Old Trafford. It would be difficult to imagine that happening again but who knows? Football is a funny old game.

Join me for all the chills and thrills.

Saturday Death Watch

These Saturdays when Leeds aren't playing are starting to feel like death watches with our relegation rivals playing. I'm getting to things late because of the twins; the early one between West Ham and Chelski is at 1-1 currently.

Join me if you're around.

The War of the Roses Redux

Afternoon, chaps - I can't say that I'm looking forward to the annual slaughter that is Leeds' visit to Old Trafford. During our first season back, we lost 6-2. Last season we lost 5-1 on opening day. Add to that that we've under a caretaker manager situation, having sacked Jesse Marsch at the weekend. So, my only hope is that we put 10 men behind the ball and try to keep the scoreline down, as goal difference might have an impact on our relegation dogfight.

I'll be in the office following the match; feel free to join me and gloat - I can take it. ;-)

A Very Big Sunday Morning

Morning, chaps! My beloved Leeds United start the second of their season today with a visit to Nottingham Forest, one of six matches that I see as potentially winnable. This is also the first match since the end of the January transfer window, where the board loosened the purse strings to splash out on several players, including a club record fee for 20-year old striker Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim. So, now that Jesse Marsh has the tools that he needs to keep Leeds in the division, it's time for us to start winning matches. Three points are a must today. Come on, you Leeds! #MOT!!

Thank Goodness it's Saturday!

Morning, boys - I can't tell you how much I need this morning of the good stuff after a long workweek. It all starts with a bang with struggling Everton hosting the league leaders Arsenal. It won't surprise you at all that I'm hoping that the Gunners will munch on some Toffee. Indeed, there are plenty of top vs. bottom match-ups today. For example, I'll have a Villa win over Leicester at Villa Park, a Brentford win over Soton, a Brighton win over Bournemouth on the South Coast, a Liverpool win over Wolves at Molineux and a Newcastle win over West Ham at SJP. All of those results would take the pressure off Leeds a wee bit as we approach an away match with Forest on Sunday morning.

Join me to see how it all pans out, eh?
