Rare Tap Footage
Here's some rare footage of Spinal Tap in the studio that UWS unearthed on YouTube. Even though I've got the double-disc anniversary edition of the DVD, I've never seen this stuff before and it's fantastic. Enjoy!
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

I think that any fan of the Football League knows well at this point that Massimo Cellino, Leeds United's new boss, is a thoroughly corrupt gangster who only passed the FA's "fit and proper" test by backing a Securicor truck full of cash up to Lancaster Gate. If that were the extent of it, however, he'd merely be Roman Abramovich's Italian cousin. But with every passing day, Massimo is proving himself increasingly barmy. So - just how crazy is Cellino? Consider the evidence:
A giant fiberglass parrot has been unveiled in Potter's Field near Tower Bridge as a tribute to the Monty Python troupe. It is a dead parrot. It has ceased to be, etc, etc. That said, it's a remarkable bird, the Norwegian Blue - beautiful plumage!
Guess what, lads? We're only a month away from the start of the Premiership season, which gets up and running on Saturday, August 16th. If you're as excited as I am about the beginning of the new season, you can keep up with the transfer news on Football 365's excellent site here:
Congratulations, Chelskilad! I think it's appropriate that the oldest Lancer among us is the inaugural winner of the Lancer Cup - our new and vaunted trophy for the World Cup and European Championships. He won it by edging out his brother UWS at the final holder by correctly predicting the Germany would win Brasil 2014. As you'll see from the final standings below, some of you also gained an additional eight points from this round for predicting that Lionel Messi would (somewhat inexplicably) grab the Golden Ball (FIFA MVP) alongside Manuel Neuer, who won the Golden Glove for best keeper. None of us had the foresight to correctly predict the James Rodriguez would be Golden Boot (top scorer at the tournament) on six goals.
So… after a month of games we are down to the LAST one.
Morning, chaps! Let's be honest - no one wanted to be in this match today. And yet they have to play out the string like professionals. Goodness knows what the Brazilian side is going to be thinking today, as they try to exorcise the national tragedy of Tuesday's drubbing at the hands of the Germans. On the up side, these matches tend to be open, high-scoring affairs, so we're unlikely to see a repeat of Wednesday's bore-fest between the Netherlands and Argentina. So, tune in with me to see the goals flying in this afternoon.
Anyone else jonesing for a bit of footie action today? If you are, take a moment and complete this fun Guardian quiz. Apparently my World Cup doppelganger is James "Elland Road legend" Milner. Who's you twin? Find out by cutting and pasting the following link into your browser:
We couldn't have had two more different semi-final matches, could we. One eight-goal shocker followed by a 0-0 snoozer ended with the damp squib of penalty misses by the Dutch. The results have turned our predictions game upside down. Very few of us predicted that Brazil would be slaughtered the way that we did, so only Chelskilad and Simon got the full 12 points for predicting a Germany v. Argentina final. That leaves us with a two horse with the original Lakenheath Old Boy Chelskilad and his younger brother UWS tied on 70 points. As fortune would have it, both have predicted a German win, so it will come down to the supplementary points for winning goal, Golden Boot and MVP as the tie-breaker. Here are the current standings:
So, after yesterday's shocker… what do we have in store today? A repeat of the 1978 World Cup Final!
So gentleman, we are now at the Semi Final stage. Both matches are South America vs Europe
Is there anyone else out there who is getting the sinking feeling that this tournament, which started off with such a bang, is slowly but surely getting more boring as it goes on? The four quarterfinals this weekend produced few fireworks, but they certainly did add drama to our predictions game. UWS is still top of the pops but has now had his lead reduced to two points, with his brother Chelskilad closing in. Could the Lancer Cup be winging its way back to Blighty in a week's time? We'll see what the semi-finals bring us. Here are the current standings:
Whew! We're through the Round of 16 matches and now have a couple of days to rest up, mourn the US exit to Belgium yesterday and take stock of our predictions game. Each of you received three points for each correct Round of 16 winner that you predicted. My weekend host United We Stand has jumped out to a healthy six point lead due to his correct predictions of six of the eight quarter-finalists (and not because of Mrs. UWS' delicious chicken parm, I hasten to add!) for 18 points. That gives him an advantage as we head into the latter stages on Friday, but there are still plenty of points to play for. Gooner71 picked up two valuable additional points for correctly predicting that Brazil v. Chile would feature the first penalty shootout of the tournament. Here are the current standings:
Seven of the final eight have been decided with one more to go… Can the USA beat all the odds and make the Quarter Finals? Will Belgium make it four out of the last eight coming from Europe.
