Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The League Cup Final Live!

Morning, boys - I come to you with a heavy heart today, with the Bielsa news still sinking in. But the footie world rolls on and it's League Cup Final time - the first big silverware of the season. So, I'm skipping the morning match with West Ham and Wolves but I'll be here at 11:30 to try to enjoy Chelsea v. Liverpool at Wembley.

Join me for the match, eh?

A Busy Saturday in the Prem

Monring, chaps! I'm up early to watch my beloved Leeds boys, as they host Spurs looking to bounce back from that hiding that we got handed at Anfield on Wednesday. My patented rubric says that we don't need anything this morning, but a point surely would help with morale.

After that, we've got the usual 10am EST kickoffs, including ManYoo v. Watford. My Leeds boys will need some help from United to smack Watford for six. And at the end of the morning, another our our relegation rivals, Everton is taking on Citeh. I'll hope that Citeh are as ruthless as usual.

Come on, you Uniteds!

A Rather Busy Wednesday Evening

Afternoon, chaps - it's a very busy day for us. We'll be splitting our attention between a couple of matches. I'll of course be watching my beloved Leeds boys on a hiding to nothing at Anfield tonight, hoping that we can scratch out a point or avoid getting completely tonked. At the same time, Your lot will be in Madrid, hoping to get a good start on this first Champions League knock-out round fixture.

Join me from 2:45pm on so EST for some footer and a chat, won't you?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 24 Update

Happy Monday, everyone! I'm checking in with the usual weekly update, as we get into a busy week of Champions League and Premier League action starting tomorrow. Not a lot of changes to report this week, to be honest, with a lot of the standings somewhat baked in at this point. The top five adjusted slightly with West Ham and Man Utd swapping places. Similarly, the bottom juggled a bit, with Watford and Burnley getting results while Norwich lost predictably at Liverpool. In the Championship, Sheffield United have crept into the playoff spots at the expense of Forest.

Mo Salah added to his total of now 17 goals; his mate Trent Alexander Arnold continues to top the assists list while Ederson is now at 14 clean sheets for the season.

That all means that our current table leader Teddy Goalesevelt has pulled into a five point lead at the top over our current champion. Here are the standings;

1. Teddy Goalesevelt - 51 points

2. Swansong - 46 pts

3. Man Utd Rules - 45 pts

4. Gooner71 - 42 pts

5. The Bee's Knees - 39 pts

6. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 37 pts

7. MOT the Hoople - 36 pts

8. Someone Said - 34 pts

9. Pink Kits - 33 pts

10. The Saint - 30 pts

-  Yellows - 30 pts

12. West Ham Rising - 28 pts

13. United We Stand - 25 pts

14. Red Devil 1FCK - 20 pts

-  Red Dragon - 20 pts

16 Blue Devil - 15 pts

The War of the Roses Resumed?

Good morning, guys! Leeds United v. Manchester United. For the first time in 18 years, an Elland Road crowd will have the chance to enjoy this meeting of ancient foes. Still, a lot of people will get carried away about it. The media of course are promoting it as The War of Roses Resumed. And many Leeds fans will see it as the most important match of the season. Yet, if one looks at it in the cold light of day, fourth place Manchester United and 15th place Leeds United are not true rivals and our season doesn't hinge on beating them. It depends on beating the likes of Norwich City, who we play in a few week's time. So, realistically, a point today would be more than satisfactory for my beloved Leeds. But more than that, I want to see a fun and exciting match with lots of goals.

Let's have some fun, chaps, eh?

You know I'll be blowing bubbles for a Hammers win in that one. That's followed by the traditional Saturday 3pm kickoffs, including Palace v. Chelsea on USA and Arsenal v. Brentford and Liverpool v. Norwich on The Cock. Finally, we end up on NBC for the marquee match of the weekend, City v. Spurs.

So, get up out of bed, fix yourself a cuppa and settle in, won't you?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 23 Update

Happy Valentine's Day, PPPers. I'm just checking in with your weekly update on our game standings. Not a lot of change to report from this weekend's action. United have replaced Arsenal in the fifth European qualification slot, as the Gunners didn't play at the weekend. Similarly, Middlesbrough have replaced Forest in the sixth playoff spot in the Championship. And in Europe, AC Milan have taken over from their cross city rivals Inter on top of Serie A.

It all means that our current leader Teddy Goalesevelt is hanging onto his lead at the top. Here are our current standings:

1. Teddy Goalesevelt - 50 points

2. Man Utd Rules - 45 pts

-  Swansong - 45 pts

A Spot of Footie on a Sunday

As usual, I'm settling in a wee bit late on a Sunday morning to enjoy the Premier League footie. I've got Burnley v. Liverpool pulled up on The Cock. Elsewhere, we've got Newcastle v. Villa. I'm hoping both Burnley and Newcastle get thumped, of course. After those matches, the late one is Leicester v. West Ham.

Come on by for a cuppa and a chat, eh?

A Tale of Two Uniteds

Morning, gentlemen! I'm settling in in my favorite chair to watch the good stuff this morning. We start wth a bang this week, with United hosting Southampton at Old Trafford. The Saints had a terrific win against Spurs in midweek, so United will have to be careful. After that, the highlight of the 10 o'clockers is Everton v. Leeds, with Marcelo Bielsa and Frankie Lampard renewing their tasty rivalry. Those matches are all on The Cock. Finally at the end of the day, we switch over tot NBC for Norwich hosting the league leaders Man City. Join me for all the action, eh?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 22 Update

Happy TGIF, everyone! This is just a quick check in on our PPP standings before we head into the hurly burly of a Premier League weekend. The scores have been juggled a bit due to two factors - Man United's fall out of the European qualification spots and Newcastle's improbable rise out of the relegation zone. Both of these mean that most of us have lost points from our totals. So here are the current standings, with our current Lancer Cup holder Teddy Goalesevelt on top again:

1. Teddy Goalesevelt - 48 points

2. Man Utd Rules - 43 pts

3. The Bee's Knees - 41 pts

-  Swansong - 41 pts

5. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 39 pts

6. MOT the Hoople - 37 pts

7. Gooner71 - 34 pts

8. Yellows - 33 pts

9. Someone Said - 29 pts

10. Pink Kits - 28 pts

11. The Saint - 27 pts

12. United We Stand - 26 pts

13. Red Dragon - 25 pts

14. Red Devil 1FCK - 20 pts

15. West Ham Rising - 19 pts

16. Blue Devil - 17 pts

Hump Day Footie!

Happy Hump Day, everyone! Are you ready for some footer? I know I am. What with the interminable international break and the FA Cup weekend, it's been several weeks now since my beloved Leeds United has played a league match. Today, they travel to the Midlands to meet Aston Villa. Last season, we thumped Villa 0-3 at Villa Park, thanks to a hat-trick by Lord Bamford, in one of our most impressive performances of the season. But times have changed in the past year. For one, we've been without Bamford for most of the season. Villa have recently gotten a bit of a bump from bringing in Stevie G. to replace Dean Smith at the helm. My patented rubric says that we need a point today and a score draw and a good showing would be very satisfying heading into a busy and important period. We'll be on The Cock today, sadly.

The featured match on USA this afternoon is Soton v. Spurs, for some reason. At the same time, league leaders take on Brentford - of course, I'll be hoping that Citeh put the Bees to the sword. And Norwich host Palace - I'll be cheering on the South Londoners for that one.

Join me around 2:45 when the USA coverage starts after the Winter Olympics nonsense.

Come on, you Leeds! #MOT!

If It's Tuesday...

...it's time for some Premier League football. I've wrapped up my work for today and am settling in enjoy this afternoon's Premier League fare. All of the matches are of interest to Leeds fans, as they feature relegation threatened sides. We start at 2:45pm with Newcastle v. Everton - I'd love a scoreless draw in that one, but I worry that Everton, who we play at the weekend, might get a bump from bringing in Frankie Lamps. Along with that one, there is West Ham v. Watford - of course I'll take a home win there to keep Watford down in the dumps. Both of those matches are on The Cock.

The featured match on USA this afternoon is Man Utd away to Burnley. United have had a turbulent week, what with the Mason Greenwood scandal and their FA Cup exit to Boro on Friday. The Clarets, meanwhile, are in a peculiar situation, as they're rooted to the bottom on 13 points but have several matches in hand on their relegation rivals. It should be fascinating.

Brew yourself a cuppa and join me from 3pm then.

FA Cup fourth Round Sunday and the Fifth Round Draw

Man City, Chelsea, Spurs get favourable FA Cup draws

The draw for the Fifth Round was made this morning and there are three Fourth Round matches today, one which just finished. Liverpool defeated Cardiff City 3-1, with all the goals coming in the second half. There's an East Midlands Derby that kicks off at 11 AM with Forest hosting the Foxes. The day concludes with  not just the last non leaguer side left in the competition but the only side below the Championship remaining as the Cherries host National League side, Boreham Wood with kick at 1:30 PM. Join me if you can for the remaining matches.

The Magic of the Cup Continues

Morning, boys! It's FA Cup 4th Round Saturday ahead of us today. I"m starting with the magical atmosphere of lower league Kidderminster v. West Ham. At the same time, Chelsea will be hosting Plymouth of L2. Later on, we've got the mouth-watering match-up of table topping Man City against top of the Championship Fulham. At 12:30 there is the East Anglian Derby between Cambridge and Luton. And finally at 3pm, there is the all-Premier League clash between Spurs and Brighton. Along with that, at 1pm, there is Premier League relegation dogfight between Watford and Burnley.

Join me for all the magic this morning.

Away with the 4th Round!

Afternoon, chaps! It's 4th Round time in the FA Cup and we start with a bang with United's match-up with Middlesboro. The hosts are hot favorites, of course, but it will be fascinating to see what side Ralf Rangnick decides to put out against the Championship side. I'm over in the office doing my Friday routine and will be heading home just in time for kickoff. See you then!
