Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Title Decider!

It all comes down to this - a Manchester Derby will decide this year's Premiership title. Simply put - whoever wins this match, wins the trophy. Citeh are at home and need a win more than do United, so it couldn't be better poised for a cracker. Join me this afternoon as history will be made.

Happy 6th Birthday, LOB!

Lakenheath Old Boys is six years old today, folks, and I couldn't be more thrilled. We've had some great times over the past year and I'm looking forward to a glorious Euro 2012 summer to come, culminating in an LOB reunion in the nation's capital between June 20-24. Thanks for all the good times this year!

Two Friends Meet Up

John Terry and Anton Ferdinand meet up for the first time since the former England captain's racist melt-down at the beginning of the season. Add to that fact that both sides have plenty at stake and we should have some very tasty early morning fireworks. Join me for all the fun next.

Trivia Question

Sotton pipped West Ham for second place and the final automatic promotion spot. As a result , what happened
for only the fourth time in the history of English football???

The End of the Championship Road

It's the end of a long, miserable and evil season for Leeds fans today. Ironically, the last day of the season sees the return to Elland Road of Kasper and JB in Leicester colors. Let's hope Beckford hits us for six - surely that will be the last nail in Warnock's coffin?

Europa League Semis Live!

The Europa League may be the red-headed stepchild of European football but not here at the LOB where a winning pick will get you six points in the vaunted PPP Game. So, MUR and Thomas (Atletico) and UWS (Sporting) will be especially keen to see their two picks get through to the final today as they face the semi final second legs. Join me this afternoon for more European footie action.

Trivia Time

A lot of talk on the radio is about the twentieth anniversary of beginning of the Premier League. There are have been a lot of All-Time Premier League teams. Best player etc. A question was asked, How many players have won Premier League medals. The answer is surprisingly low.... 158! The top 25 are United players and many more tied for 26th. Anyway, I was looking at the list and here is my question... Only two players have won winners medals with two different teams. Name them. UWS

More Champions League Semi-final Madness

We had a real shocker last night, with Chelski overcoming everyone's favorite Spanish midgets Barcelona in one of the matches of the season. Can lightening strike twice in a week? Well, Bayern take a one-goal advantage into the Bernabeu against Real Madrid. Join me for the fireworks from 2:45pm onward.

A Moment of Destiny

Chelski take a slender 1-0 lead into the lion's den of the Camp Nou today. But can they live with Barcelona over ninety minutes that promises a lot of tippy tappy possession. Join me from 2:45pm onward to find out.

Which is more evil - a Cardiff City outfit led by Peter Ridsdale or a Leeds team managed by Neil Warnock? Hard call to make. Where's one of those Obama administration drones when we need one? Join me from the crack 'o dawn for a serious dose of evil, followed shortly by Chelsea v. Arsenal.

RIP Levon Helm (1940-2012)

Levon Helm, the legendary drummer and singer for The Band, has died at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer. Gooner and I had hoped at one point to make it up to upstate New York to catch one of Helms' "Midnight Rambles." We left it too late....

Up the Tangerines!

We had a minor blip with a 4-1 win on Saturday, but I'm hoping that we'll be back on track with my Sack Warnock scheme with a right thumping for Warnock's Evil Leeds at the hands of Blackpool this evening. Oh - and there's the slight matter of a CL semi-final between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich - no big whoop. Join me for all the Sack Warnock action from 2:45 pm onward.

A MUST WIN!!!

After Citeh's thumping victory yesterday, Manchester United face a must win situation at Old Trafford today. A performance like the one at Wigan will not be good enough! The last time Citeh won by a boatload away (1-5 at Spurs) United didn't just match that result but bettered it! (8-2)... SAME AGAIN PLEASE!!

There is a small matter of the FA Cup Semi Final to follow as well. I hope this Cockney semi final has a better outcome than the Merseyside semi from yesterday

Champions League Quarter-finals - 2nd Legs

We're into the second legs of the CL Qtr Finals today, with a marquee match-up between Barca and Milan. The Rossoneri were able to hang on for a draw in the San Siro last week and might even have taken a shock goal off Zlatan's big bum to the Nou Camp. But can they hang on in front of 60,000 roaring Catalans today? I don't think so, but I'm anxious to find out. Bayern take a two-goal away win into the home leg and are presumably more than half way to the semis. Join me from 2:45pm EST.

No More Slip Ups United!

It's a different Monday, but the same message:

UNITED MUST WIN , NO EXPCEPTIONS, NO EXCUSES!

We cannot have a repeat of that fiasco that occurred on SAF's 70th birthday. Come join us to see if United come into this match focused, ready to do the business so that they can collect what should be an easy three poiiunts at Ewood Park. That picture is a reminder of what we don't want to happen and that the three points need to be earned.

Carroll's Last Stand?

I'm delighted to be relaxing in Blue Devil HQ this morning, and I've got a crucial match to enjoy: The Reds visiting the Magpies. It's a must-win for Pool and King Kenny has chosen the occasion to give Jonathan Carroll one last shot up front. Carroll must still harbor some desire to keep his job (and perhaps to squeeze onto the England squad plane to Poland/Ukraine this summer). On the other side, Newcastle have been firing on all cylinders at home. Should be a fascinating encounter. Join me in a moment to see.
