Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Sunday Rest

It's another packed day of Premier League action. I'm up a wee bit late for the start of the intriguing Leicester v. Arsenal match, while Palace and Fulham are also playing on the Cock. That's followed by Spurs v. Burnley at 9am, probably a shower match for me. Then there is the big one for the weekend - Chelsea hosting United at Stamford Bridge. Somehow Jose Mourinho isn't involved this time. Then if you haven't had enough, the late one is Sheffield United v. Liverpool. Join me for all the fun and games.

Footie at the End of a Long Week

I'm settling in at the end of a long workweek to enjoy some of the good stuff. It starts with an intriguing fixture at the Etihad with Man Citeh against West Ham. Pep's Citeh have been romping it in recent weeks, winning 19 on the trot. That said, Moyesy's Hammers have been teh most improved side in the league this season, rising from bottom half last season to a CL spot this season. Something's got to give. I'll likely take my usual grading break during the 10am hour when West Brom and Brighton fight out a relegation battle. Then I'm back with bells on for the tea time fixture between my beloved Leeds and Villa. We did them over at Villa Park 0-3 back in the fall, and I'd definitely take that result again today at Elland Road. The late one is another borefest between Newcastle and Wolves. Join me if you're around, eh?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 25 Update

A very happy Wednesday morning, folks. With my beloved Leeds United's glorious 3-0 win over Southampton yesterday, we came to the end of Week 25 of the domestic season. So, it's time to take stock of our PPP Game standings. Very little has changed since last week, with West Ham swapping places in the top five with Chelsea the only change that has created significant points losses or gains. That means that our current champion MOT the Hoople continues on top of the pops, with Swansong and the Reds in hot pursuit. Here are the latest standings: MOT the Hoople - 45 points Swansong - 38 pts Red Devil 1FCK - 37 pts - Red Dragon - 37 pts The Bee’s Knees - 36 pts Blue Devil - 35 pts - Teddy Goalsevelt - 34 pts West Ham Rising - 32 pts - What’s Up Wheaton Simon - 32 pts Man U- td Rules - 26 pts Gooner71 - 24 pts The Saint - 20 pts - United We Stand - 20 pts Anfield Warriors - 18 pts Someone Said - 14 pts 16. Pink Kits - 4 pts

MY MATCH..... and a few others as well

 Good Morning Boys,

Here is the moment of kick off from last season's Boxing Day clash... we have the same match today. I would love the same score line please!!! Earlier today the Hammers cemented their CL spot with a 2-1 win vs struggling Spurs. Leicester are doing the same as I type as they are already two-nil up at Villa Park. The two late games see Red Hot City visiting the Emirates(COME ON YOU GUNNERS!) and then the last match of the day is "MY MATCH"

A Snowy Saturday Morning

A very happy Saturday morning, chaps! We got a truckload of lake-effect snow dumped on us overnight, so you know what that means. I'm up early to watch the lunchtime kickoff between Southampton v. Chelsea. Then I'll be heading out to dig out the driveway during the boring 10am match (Burnley v. WBA). Then I'll be back after a refreshing Saturday shower for the big one - the Merseyside Derby at 12:30. Then I'll be in and out for the the late relegation battle between Fulham and Sheffield Utd. Join me for the fun and games (and help me dig some snow!). Cheers!

Another Big Leeds Match!

I'm celebrating the end of Week 3 of the semester by settling in to watch my beloved Leeds United in their visit to Molineux. Wolves did us over at home back in the fall, so I'm hoping for a positive result today. According to my patented rubric, we need a point on the road today. Join me for all of the action today. Come on, you Leeds! #MOT!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 24 Update

Happy Hump Day, everyone! I'm here as usual with the weekly update of our PPP Game. There was quite of bit of shifting in the table this week. The major factors were Liverpool dropping out of the top five, which robbed a lot of us of four or five points and Inter Milan's rising to the top of Serie A, which added two points for half a dozen of us. Otherwise, much of the table (and thus the rankings) seems baked in - Citeh are running away with the league, as they're now ten points up, and Fulham, WBA, Sheffield United are definitely getting relegated. Norwich seem destined to bounce back up to the Premier League and Bayern are streets ahead in the Bundesliga. Mo Salah is likely to win the Golden Boot and Ederson the Goalen Glove. So, here are the latest rankings: 1. MOT the Hoople - 46 points 2. Red Devil 1FCK - 38 pts - Swansong - 38 pts 4. Red Dragon - 37 pts 5. The Bee’s Knees - 36 pts 6. Blue Devil - 35 pts - Teddy Goalsevelt - 35 pts 8. What’s Up Wheaton Simon - 32 pts 9. West Ham Rising - 31 pts 10. Man Utd Rules - 25 pts 11. Gooner71 - 24 pts 12. The Saint - 21 pts 13. United We Stand - 19 pts 14. Anfield Warriors - 18 pts 15. Someone Said - 14 pts 16. Pink Kits - 4 pts

The Dahlgren Derby and Our Mob Too

So another big day in the Premier League. United visits the Baggies in another MUST WIN game against a rubbish team. We struggled almightily at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture. Hoping for a much more relaxing morning.
The second match is the battle of the Dahlgren brothers....may the best team win

Two Very Big Matches

Morning, chaps - it's Saturday again! The day is dominated by two very big matches. We kick off with a bang with Leicester v. Liverpool. The Reds are like a wounded animal these days; can they rise up wth a big away win today? It's all a bit rubbish at 10am then with Palace v. Burnley. But then we're back with a bang after lunch with City v. Spurs. It's Pep v. Mou - you can't miss that, eh? Join me, won't you?

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 23 Update

Happy Hump Day, everyone - I'm checking in with our standings for this week. Things are very much as they were last week, with those who backed Man City to win the league riding high in our charts, led by our current champion MOT the Hoople. A number of us have added to our scores with Chelsea sneaking into the top five this week, at the expense of West Ham. The bottom of the Premier League and the top of the Championship are very much the same, so those points remain the same. So, too, Mo Salah, as the top goalscorer, 'arry Kane as the top assister of goals and Ederson as Golden Glove. So, here are our standings: 1. MOT the Hoople - 49 points 2. Swansong - 42 pts 3. Red Devil 1FCK - 41 pts 4. Red Dragon - 40 pts 5. Blue Devil - 37 pts 6. What's Up Wheaton Simon - 36 pts 7. West Ham Rising - 34 pts 8. Teddy Goalsevelt - 32 pts 9. The Bee's Knees - 30 pts 10. United We Stand - 24 pts 11. Man Utd Rules - 23 pts - The Saint - 23 pts 13. Gooner71 - 22 pts 14. Anfield Warriors - 18 pts - Someone Said - 18 pts 16. Pink Kits - 4 pts

Another Big Day in the Premier League!

It's another big evening at Elland Road for my beloved Leeds United. The boys in white host Crystal Palace, who did us over 4-1 at Selhurst Park back in the fall. According to my patented survival rubric, we should be able to beat lower half sides at home. So, three points tonight, boys! Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

Sunday's Best

Morning, chaps! I'm getting to the footie late this morning, as we had our usual late Saturday night. Fortunately, the big match starts at 11:30am EST. That's the crucial title fixture between top of the table Citeh and fourth-place Liverpool. It already seems like a match that Liverpool must win in order to stop Citeh from running away with the title race. Join me for all the action later this morning.

Up Early for The Arse

A very good Saturday morning, boys! I'm settling to watch some good stuff this morning after having completed my first week of the semester. We start this morning with Villa v. Arsenal, both sides looking for a win to launch them into the top half. Then there are a couple of rubbish matches at 10am EST - Burnley v. Brighton and Southampton v. Newcastle. It's a London derby between Fulham and West Ham on NBC at 12:30 and finally Man Utd v. Everton as the late afternoon treat. Join me for all the fun today, won't you?

If it's Wednesday, It's Leeds Time!

A very happy Wednesday to all of you chaps! I'm just wrapping up my morning work, so that I can concentrate on the footie this afternoon. What do we have on tap? Well, we start with a couple of bottom v. top matches with Citeh visiting Turf Moor to meet Burnley and Leicester visiting Craven Cottage to meet up with Fulham. No guesses as to what I want from them. That's just a warm-up for the main event for me - Leeds hosting Everton at Elland Road. We punked the Toffees 0-1 back in the fall, and I'd be delighted with a similar outcome today. However, according to my patented survival rubric, we don't need any points from today's match, so there is no pressure on us. While that's going on, Villa will kick off against West Ham and Liverpool will kick off against Brighton. Join me for all of the fun today, won't you?

Tuesday in the Prem

If it's a Tuesday afternoon, there is a slate full of tasty Premier League matches on tap. At 1pm EST, we have the mid-table affair between Wolves and Arsenal on NBC Sports and the relegation dogfight between Sheffield United and West Brom on Peacock. At 3pm, we've got Man Utd v. Southampton on NBC Sports and the bottom half clash between Palace and Newcastle on Peacock. Sadly, I've got a busy work day, so I won't be able to watch all of it. But I thought I'd post a thread and drop in when I can. Enjoy the footer!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - 21 Update

Hiya, PPPers! I'm back with my usual update of our fair game. With Man City upending their cross town rivals this week, our standings have been upended as well. Out go those who tipped United for the title (sorry, UWS and co) and in come those who thought that City would inevitably grind their way to another championship (in other words, our current champion MOT the Hoople is heading toward a historic three-peat). Otherwise, the table is much the same, with the usual suspects languishing outside the top five and robbing us of valuable points while the likes of Leicester and West Ham clutter up the top of the table. Thankfully, Mo Salah scored another couple of goals this weekend, so the six points are safe for Big Mo fans. Here are the current standings: 1. MOT the Hoople - 41 points 2. Red Devil 1FCK - 39 pts 3. Red Dragon - 37 pts 4. Blue Devil - 34 pts 5. Swansong - 32 pts - What's Up Wheaton Simon - 32 pts 7. Teddy Goalsvelt - 29 pts 8. The Bee's Knees - 26 pts 9. West Ham Rising - 25 pts 10. The Saint - 20 pts 11. Anfield Warriors - 18 pts - Gooner71 - 18 pts - Man Utd Rules - 18 pts - United We Stand - 18 pts 15. Someone Said - 15 pts 16. Pink Kits - 4 pts
