Champions League Gameday 2

Blimey, that was quick! The Champions League has rolled around again and Gameday 2 starts today with half of the groups in action. I'll be paying particular attention to see if Arsenal can bounce back from the weekend defeat in their clash with Porto.

Poor old Gaz. Only months after having been sectioned for a bizarre car-jacking incident, former England star Paul Gascoigne has been arrested again under bizarre circumstances. As you'll read in the following article from the Guardian, Gaz was arrested after pounding on a pub door after hours, presumably desperate for a pint. Can no one take care of this geezer?

Europe's champions start their quest to retain their trophy today as they host Villareal at Old Trafford. Meanwhile Arsenal travel to the Ukraine to take on Dynamo Kiev.

It's that time again. The Champions League kicks off this afternoon. ESPN2 is treating us to Chelsea vs. Bordeaux while the Internet is treating us all to, well, all of the other matches. I've chosen Marseille vs. Liverpool. So just how many CL matches can I watch at the same time? Let's find out. Join me for all of the bewildering action.

England will need a bit of the bulldog spirit today as they face their toughest group opponent in Zagreb. I think we would all take a point from tonight's match and call it a success. Let's hope Don Fabio has a plan for that.

I'm trying not to be offended this morning that Division 1 hasn't gone on international break. What? Jonathan Howson isn't in Don Fabio's reckoning? Yeovil Town and Peterborough don't have decent alternatives to Gareth Barry in the holding role or for David Bentley running down the right? Sheer, bloody prejudice, that is.

Ah well, my boys are at home to Crewe. I'll be paying attention, even if no one else is. (sigh)

King Kev Walks?

News out of Blighty today seem to suggest that Kevin Keegan has seen quite enough of Newcastle after that 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal at the weekend and has walked out on the club. Newcastle have issued a statement that they have not sacked King Kev but that doesn't preclude his having thrown the toys out of the pram now, does it?
