Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Brrrrrrrr!

I thought I could hack this Northeast winter thing, but, blimey it's cold. I'm marooned in a Best Western in Plattsburgh, New York doing a job interview this week and it's bloody freezing up here. Honestly, I don't know how Davey and Blubber do it. A day and a half up here and my balls are frozen.

Get me back to the Swamp!

Hillary's Last Stand?

After some nineteen debates and months of campaign palaver, we've finally, mercifully come to the end game. Either Hillary Clinton delivers a knock-out blow tonight or Barack Obama will be the Democratic Party nominee for the fall. It's that simple. Last Thursday's debate was pretty friendly - bet you that tonight won't be. Join me for the fireworks!

Trev's Real Reason He Voted Obama!

I'm just relieved that Rudy isn't a Gooner!

On the Ball!

Ah, Saturday again, and another cracking day in English footie. We've got a full program of Premiership fixtures, the Leeds boys really need to find a win today against lowly Crewe and I would luv it if you'd join me for the festivities.

Champions League Round of Sixteen

It's knockout stage time. After the thrilling Liverpool win over the thuggish Inter yesterday, I'm looking forward to another Italian job by Arsenal today over the other half of Milan. I'll also be keeping an eye on United vs. Lyon and Celtic vs. Barcelona. Should be a cracking afternoon.

If you're skiving off work, drop by for a chat.

Wisconsin!

Another big night on the campaign trail. Things looked good for Obama going into today, but you wouldn't put it past the Clintons to pull out a squeaker. Wins for Obama tonight in Wisconsin and Hawaii would extend his string to 10-0 and put enormous pressure on Hillary. Stick around for some political chat, eh?

FA Cup Time!!

I won't be around much of the morning but I will be here for the big one. I will not be forking out the PPV money but watching my sister's TV for free through Skype.
Leeds big game with Doncaster has been postponed so Bob has a worry free day in front of him.

I, Nielsen Family!

I just wanted to let you lads know that I'll be a "Nielsen family" for the next week, so I'll be busy stumping for "Law and Order" re-runs on TNT, Keith Olbermann and the Fox Soccer Channel. If you've got any obscure shows that you want to give the "Gator bump" in ratings, let me know.

Beagles Rule!

Spaniels, you can pack it in. Get stuffed, labradors. Terriers - you're not even close. Yes, beagles rule! A two year old beagle named Uno has taken top spot at the 2008 Westminster Dog Show, the dog show made famous by "Best in Show."

The FSF Petition

Davey and the Gator mentioned this in passing in a post a while ago, but we haven't given this the airing or indeed the shoe-ing that this obvious money grab represents.

If you don't like this idea, click this link to add your name to the Football Supporters' Federation's petition to the FA to have this plan scuttled.

The Potomac Primaries!

Right, you D.C. lads, it's your turn to influence the Presidential race today, so get out there and vote. And don't forget to check in on the LOB later tonight to have a bit of a chinwag about the results. Happy voting!

Amy Wins a Grammy!

Every once in a while at the Grammys a moment of authenticity cuts through the usual awards show crap. That happened at the tail end of last night's show. In case you hadn't heard the backstory, Amy Winehouse had been denied a visa to go to a show where she'd been nominated for six awards. Instead the organizers put together a private show in London. She'd already blown away all of the Rihanna/Beyonce fakers with a blistering performance through "I'm No Good" and "Rehab" when Tony Bennett announced that she'd won the Record of the Year. Her response is one for the ages. Enjoy!

Munich Remembered

Let's hope the Manchester City fan's behave themselves for the minute silence.
Both teams will be wearing commemorative shirts. The Unite shirts are #s1-11, no names or sponsor.
Sadly, FSC aren't showing it. I am watching the Sky coverage through Skype. What a fantastic thing Skype is.

I will be around, hope for some company for this match and then the Chelski Del Pool.

The Capello Era Begins

Check in with me here as England start life under new boss Fabio Capello with a relatively meaningless friendly fixture against Euro 2008 co-host Switzerland.

Will Fabio's side get off to a winning start?

Tsunami Tuesday!

Twenty four states and their delegates are all on offer tonight. Will McCain seal the deal on the GOP side? Will the momentum behind the Obama campaign defeat the Clinton defeat once and for all? We'll see tonight.

Join me if you're watching.

Premiership Saturday

Ah...Saturday morning. I'm taking a break from it all for a couple of hours to have a look at FSC's coverage of the Chelsea match this morning. Of course, I'll also be keeping a close eye on Gary McAllister's debut as Leeds manager as the Whites host Tranmere Rovers. We could use that vaunted "New Manager Bump."

Join me, eh?
